My review applies only to the restaurants on Bear ...

My review applies only to the restaurants on Bear Mountain and does not apply to the rest of the resort since I am a local and just pop in to eat.
There are four restaurants to choose from within about fifty yards in the resort. I use three of them but so far, have not used the Sushi place.
Usually, I would give five stars to all. The two restaurants in the hotel are excellent. The menus are not too large but are varied and interesting. There's always something to challenge the adventurous diner, the vegetarian and the meat and potatoes crowd. I wouldn't recommend the buffet but as a self confessed germaphobe, can think of no buffet that meets with my approval.
The soupe du jour is usually exceptional although the chef has a tendency to add too many flavours. Highly recommended.
On my most recent visit, I took my daughter and her friend to Jack's for a birthday celebration. Jack's has halibut for the fish and chips and is one of the few places that cooks this dish to perfection.
The meal was great but the service was virtually nonexistent.
So, while I'm confiscating one star for the oversight, I have to admit that all of the tables around me were well catered to.
Ambiance: The canned music was a little loud and live sports on every screen. That's in keeping with what you'd expect in this room.
I'll go back but if I find myself with the same server, I'll simply walk over to one of the other restaurants.
Prices at Jack's? For one adult and two teenagers, one soup, three main courses and beverages; I dropped $100.(No tip. That's extremely rare for me)

We visited Jacks Restaurant, and though we were pestered by a fly, and the waitresses didn't take the food requirements seriously for one in our group, it was otherwise a pleasant experience. We always enjoy the Bear Mountain facilities and area. Highly recommend a visit.

I only went up for the day to ride the mountain bike trails. Some of the trails could be marked a little better or a good trail map posted at the top. Only reason for 4 stars, trails were great other than that.

Amazing rooms and good golf course and mountain views. Highly recommended for an upscale lavish experience. Lots to do around the area. Endless possibilities but will require a drive, it is not walking distance to anything except golf course and on site restaurants gift shop etc as it is at the top of bear mountain but definitely worth the stay, by far the best hotel in the area

The staff here were really nice and helpful from the front desk to the pool. The nearby pub, Jack's, had good food and people. The rooms were nice, the beds were comfortable, and the place was clean. Can't wait to go back again!

Love staying at this place! Absolutely beautiful location. Great hot tub and heated outdoor pool to relax in. Not a fan of the additional "resort fee" and the location is a ways out of Victoria if you plan on spending a lot of time in the city maybe try somewhere else. If you're looking for some R&R in a place out of the city or golfing then this is the place to stay.

Nice mountain resort so close to downtown Victoria

This resort is located only 15 min away from Victoria s inner harbour. Still under development, the resort offers a full size golf course, a health centre with swimming pool and spa, walking and biking trails all around the resort. MT. Findlayson is within walking distance to the resort.

Driving down the resort to Victoria, you can stop to see the Pacific Ocean and Mt Olympic in Washington State.

The coffee shop inside the resort offers a decent selections of groceries and really good coffee.

Highly recommend!

Great place! I had a beautiful room with a comfortable bathrobe! The tub was also absolutely spectacular. I was a little scared that I did not bring alcohol to the resort, but their prices were standard at their offsale. The walking trails were wonderful as well. Also one of the best hotel gyms I have ever used. That being said bring your own groceries if you are cooking for yourself as you will not want to pay the closest store's prices.

Beautiful resort! We spent most of our time doing stuff so I don't actually have any photos. When we got to the resort, which was a nice little drive from the Black Ball Ferry Line dock to the resort. Bear Creek was a beautiful resort with condos and new development all around. We walked the golf course, swam in the heated outdoor pool, enjoyed the restaurant in the hotel, walked some of the golf course. Generally we had a fantastic time! The resort fee was covered in our reservation (which was a nice surprise) and that would allow us to use the driving range and putting greens with complimentary clubs. We aren't golfers so we didn't end up taking advantage of it, but it was a really nice perk! The really cool thing was their New Balance "rental" program. I was able to get a shirt, shorts, and running shoes to use for working out. It was only $5.25 CAD for the entire stay. That was cool!

I did not enjoy my stay here and would not go back. Not good for a couples weekend or if you have very young kids. It was far from relaxing and lacked any service. Worst of all if you voice any concerns no one cares.

Was in for a work conference. They served great breakfasts and luncheons in their conference rooms which were set up nightly. It was great to get away for a hike or to the pool area. Beautiful views.

We played golf at the mountain course, it's not the quality of old.The 5 hole was shortened a up to a par 3 to a spot on the fairway not a real green and no yardage for it as the gps is set up for the old hole. The 9 th is shorter the 10th replaced with house's so they put the very short 19th hole at the top to replace it.Very disappointed for the price not what it use to be.

The pool admission is expensive, and if you go on the weekend you can spend up to two hours waiting for service. They have signs at the bar telling you to not order from a bartender, which means you're stuck trying to flag down a terribly overworked server. Overall it's over priced, under staffed, and not worth spending money there.
