Maude Hunters Pub Review

Classic pub with a great vibe. I have been here over the years and it has always had a welcoming feel. The lucky moorehead still hangs above the stairs! Don't forget to rub his nose on your way out for some good luck.

The only thing colder than my roast beef dinner is the interactions with my server. It's like I cheated on her bestie or something. Sat for around 20 min with an empty glass before anyone would accept my eye contact.

Man what great food and service, that Anna is pretty great. Chef too, whatta guy. I hear they have this guy who works there, knows kung fu, is hung like an ox. Shawn or something? Anyways great place loved it.

Foods great, staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Music bingo is a blast.

It's in a nice location. Nice bar tenders. Try the fruit ale, it's amazing. Good mix of students and older crowd. Definitely worth a shot!

This has become me and my friend's new go to place when we want to be at a pub. Awesome staff, awesome food and awesome beer. I've even recommended it to my friends.

Nice pub atmosphere and a good beer selection. Up a flight of stairs but the have an elevator for wheelchairs.

Ordered daily special for 8$!. Was charged 13$. Dry and flavorless. :(

Update: Worst beef dip in the city. Dry AF with no flavour other then the fake dip which is literally brown salt water, so bad its worth experiencin: just to wrap your head around how bad it truly is.

Did i mention they charged me 5$ extra, WOW.

Food was great, as usual, tables well distanced for Covid safety, but no one was wearing a mask. We didn't feel comfortable or safe. We will make other choices for a while, until Covid goes away.

Pretty decent neighborhood pub, it's a bit rough around the edges but that's not a big deal for having pints with friends. Food isn't bad...Nothing to brag about though!

I was taken here for my birthday the other day as I was told that the halibut and chips were really good. I was so disappointed as the batter on my fish was not at all crispy and looked like it had gotten wet with water on it. The fries were good but I never got hardly any though my mom did. When we ordered dessert it also was terrible, we had the icecream sandwich and the apple walnut crisp. The cookie was just horrible and neither my mom or I could eat it and the apple walnut crisp had way too much cinnamon etc in it and the apples weren't cooked enough either, but was eatable. We ordered 2 alcoholic drinks which were ok. Anyways we were not offered any discounts or substitute for anything either. This is probably the last time I will go there. Unhappy

Great friendly staff however the food was just okay. I expected pubfair food with large portions, got the pub Fair but the portion was very small. I think $17 for a burger is too much especially when it's the size of a McDonald's burger

There is a gentleman who works there who is as ignorant as they come.
Law breaking as in selling you mix, charging a deposit, then not returning the deposit. Instead he tells you to discard the empty outside in their garbage where they will probably take it in later for another deposit.
THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW AND THEY COULD LOSE THEIR LIQUOR LICENSE WHICH WOULD PROBABLY SHUT DOWN THE BAR!

Excellent food and drink in a great neighborhood. Reasonably priced menu items and drinks! Friendly staff, love it here.

Had two very poor experiences with the wait staff here. Both times my table was forced to leave because they had other tables waiting to be seated.

A nice, neighborhood pub. Standard pub fare, with good drink and food specials. It's got quite a bit of room, and it's pretty quiet during the day to grab lunch. Service is pretty decent too.

Different special every night, very helpful and quick polite well trained staff. But, the food is always hot to the plate and enjoyable.

Standard pub fare, but a very disappointing bar. Ordered an Old Fashioned here only to have the waitress serve me a Paralyzer. When I sent it back, they admitted they could not make this classic cocktail because the bar doesn't stock bitters of any kind!

TL;DR: order beer, not cocktails.

Next level (dare I say, gourmet if there is such a thing) pub food, well prepared and very well plated.

Wings were pretty good, they seem to be doing the best they can despite the draconian restrictions the BC government has imposed on small businesses.

A surprisingly good pub. It is a walk upstairs (no elevator). They have ample indoor seating a decent outdoor patio. They have limited free parking and some nearby street parking that is both free and paid.
Food and beer selection is great. Their recipes are quite tasty.

I remember this pub was so good! However, the past month the food had somewhat declined. Vegan??? First off the menu offered a steak? Chefs definitely clueless, management ain't any better. Need I mention, we tried it and it isn't good sorry. Never really understood the trend these days. Please encourage your kitchen staff to wear mask

Go thursday. Order Bacon Cheeseburger. Alwayd get fries. Ask for a side of mayo. Ask for an extra deep fried pickle. Mix ketchup and mayo. Add to burger. Add to plate. Dip Amaze-balls fries and Too-good-to-describe Pickle in the mix.
Bask in happiness.

We donated an anniversary bottle of Guinness to their upper shelf decorations. We found it in Mom's tea trolley along with a bottle of red wine that was solid inside! Great food. The fries are terrible. Terrible for your waist line that is, so have the salad!

Good beer selection. The food was good but our server didn't wear a mask and was hugging some of the customers. Apparently hasn't heard the news in the last six months

Love the dingy little liquor store! Great selection of single tall can craft beers at a good cold temperature!!

It's cold and bleak inside this dimmly lit tavern gives you the feel as if you're in the dark ages. It smells of failed relationships and broken dreams. Not to mention they wouldn't let us warm up next to the fire. We went in thinking we'd be treated like kings...only to be treated like peasants.

Good service, decent price great food. Wish they had shepherds pie though.

Food is great and the staff are friendly and attentive. They have a couple of TVs to watch sports and a decent patio. A nice place to go with a couple friends and have a meal. Enjoy!

I've been here several times for music bingo. A solid 4 stars for a good selection of beer, decent food, and decent service.

Ordered a Spinach & Goat Cheese omelet, got a smoked chicken and onions. I'm vegetarian. Took them another 15 minutes for the new one. The omelet was burnt, but I didn't complain. Took it to go, because everyone else was done. When I went to eat it at home, I realized there was bacon in it. They never offered to give me a discount or anything. NOT impressed!

I love Maudes. Its usually quite, and they have the best 'early riser' deal on the weekend. A big plate of eggs, tater tots and toast with jam& peanut butter is only 4 bucks. Highly recommend coming here just for the breakfast deal on a weekend - its offered only from 11am-noon so perfect for those who like to stay up late the night before.

It's been a while since I've visited Maude's and I feel like they've really upped their game on their food! I had a vegetable wrap with fries and the wrap had some great flavours and the fries were INCREDIBLE.

The food was reasonable in quality, the portions weren't very large I left hungry for the price I paid. The wait was a half an hour to get a table. The food was served in a timely fashion.
After the food hit the table the service declined substantially. We were left alone a little too long some of our people at the table wanted more drinks.
I would go back.
Maybe I'll try a larger meal next time.

They are all decorated for Christmas! I wish that I had taken a picture. Hopefully someone dies soon. If the 12 shaft's of Christmas is too much for you just have the eggnog one. It was delicious. Merry Christmas!

Third time ...still unlucky. Wings are great, service and trying talking to the woman manager is a compete waste of time. The first time I ever stepped in to Maudes was in the liquor store, 2013. Because I was on two crutches with zero weight bearing on one leg ( shattered it skiing) I took my son (underage) so he could help carry out for me. The girl refused to sell me my two bottles of wine because I had my son with me, I sent him out and she still refused me service, even though I explained my injury. I went down the street to Liquor Plus and asked if my son could come in and help me, it was not a problem. So I still drive there to this day even though it is further than Maudes. That was 2013, fast forward to two weeks ago. We went in for wing night (the wings are great but, it stops there) We had the same waitress this evening as we did then. It was hard to get service from this waitress then, but tonight was a 'real' pleasant experience. She stood and visited with the two women sitting next to us and chatted with them for ages back and forth a few times, meanwhile we are sitting waiting to order. So we started looking at her hoping to get her attention and maybe some type of service. This is her response to the 2 women she was visiting " I better go serve those two women they are staring at me". She said it loud enough although she is already loud, so we would hear. this is how you get service from this unpleasant and rude waitress. Now, there are some very hard working people in there as well, we just kept getting the bad one. So.... we went out on a limb to talk to the manager. Her response when I told her that the server was just visiting with her friends instead of waiting on her tables. The manger's response was "Oh those aren't friends , they are regulars and they were complaining about you putting your face in their food and she told us not to come on Wednesdays, it has different crowd of people on this night. WTH is this that? We never so much as left our table. She told us to come on Saturdays, the wings were $10.00. It is obvious that rudeness has gone unchecked at Maudes. So, if you are looking for a manager to talk to don't waste your time, she is as incompetent as her waitress.

Good food! Like the laid back atmosphere. Made some good memories here with friends!

Went for beers with a buddy, spent the next hour and a half getting ignored by the waitress in a leopard print dress. Haven't been ignored by a girl like that since I was in highschool. I would sooner mouthwash with buckshot then go back.
