We just returned from a weekend at Bear Lodge, for the most part we had a good time. As stated in some of the other reviews, we were met by one unfriendly staff member, a short woman with short red hair. Somehow, we were seriously inconveniencing her by staying there, because every time a customer (our group included) interacted with her, we were met with a passive aggressive response and an eye roll.

The rooms were perfect for how we used them, any other place I would feel bad shedding wet snow gear, this place was built for it.

Now the sled rental... The sleds were great and aside from a temperamental Mother Nature, the snow was fine. I did have a crash early on our first day, and needed some repairs done. The repair was done fairly quickly, but incredibly over priced. I referenced every part number used on the machine and was over charged for parts by about $120. Also, the repair included needing a new ski. The shop replaced the ski with a used part, yet I was charged new price for a ski... Pretty shady way to do business. Also, I'm not doubting the mechanics ability, but I watched the repair be completed, nothing was torqued to spec, or aligned properly more than "eyeballing it" so when the sled came back, they tried to nit pick the mechanics repair. And entertained the prospect of having me pay more for his incompetence. Also, when asked for a copy of our rental contracts, we were told we were not allowed to have copies to double check pricing and deposits.

Needless to say, I will not be staying at this lodge again. Until they can employ fair business practice. If you have plenty of money to burn and don't care about good business, stay at this place.

Stop by and take a look yourself! This year it was kinda hectic up there and rustic cabins were a touch and go. BUSY!!! It was great to see even during all The (P word) that they were still getting customers and regulars coming in. We love it every time we go and the people that work there are like Family!!

The food was quite good, we waited about an hour and a half for our food to fully arrive to our table. They said they they were understaffed in the kitchen and loaded with tickets, we understood so we decided to go outside and walk around the lodge and the lake for some lovely scenery.
The wifi was hardly usable and unstable during peak hours, I don't think they planned their network very well. There's not much you can do out there with satellite internet.
All in all, it was an unusual but enjoyable experience.

We have eaten here numerous times in the past year, the food and service have always been consistently good. Dining area is clean and neat. Gift shop with lots of good things to buy. Prices are higher than average but you must consider that supplies are shipped from some distance away, so it is understandable. Never visited the lounge or stayed at the hotel, so no comment on those.

Great place to stop for a bite to eat, drinks, gas and lodging while driving through the Bighorn Mountains. Right at the junction of 14 and 14A. Did not stay at lodge, very scenic area. Tourist bus stopped whi6ke we there. Very friendly staff. "Hi to Frank and Ozzie, you made the stop even more enjoyable."

Lots of good things going on at the bear lodge, from the fun bar atmosphere to the good breakfast and pies, coffee thermos fill station for only $1. Plenty of dinner options to choose from. We always like the rocky mt oysters for a quick appetizer. The raspberry glazed pork chop is a good one. Wife enjoyed the chicken fried steak.

The bar staff are beyond rude and incompetent. 15 people in the bar and they guy and lady act like they are completely swamped. Tried to order drinks but the guy kept forgetting them. Went up to the bar to order food. Waited at the bar for 10 minutes, finally I asked to place an order, he snapped that I better hurry up because the kitchen was closing. He acted mad and bitter the entire time. I ordered a coke, he brought diet, I asked for a refill that never showed up. Food was gross. Meat was all fat and gristle.

Rumor has it if you are not a local, they treat you like garbage. F them. Go somewhere else.

We had a good experience all the way around! Staff was friendly, atmosphere was good. Front desk even called to let us know we left something behind and they would hold it. I would recommend staying at Bear lodge to my friends and family and we will definitely be back!

Normally I love this place. But this visit was by far the worst. Don't know if it's new management or what. Came for mother's day, which was supposed to be over at 3pm. We were there at 2:40pm. Got told the buffet was over and grill would reopen at 4pm. Then got told by another guy that it was closed for the night.... on mother's day. Got treated poorly. Staff was smoking right across from our table. We spilled a soda and had to ask numerous times for a rag only to not even get assistance on cleaning up a mess, just got stared at.

Stopped by on a tour bus for a quick stop. Nice gift shop and clean restrooms. Grabbed some trinkets. Beautiful didn't area with frontier decor. Recommend Big Mike's coconut cream pie! Fellow travelers had apple caramel and banana cream pie also made with homemade crust and loved them.

Great tourist spot to stop heading over the Big Horn Mountains. Rooms available, restaurant and bar (bar side still allows smoking inside) and a little pond next to the lodge for the kids to fish at. Food was great at lunch time when we arrived...must try a slice of Mike's pie!!!

I have been hunting in the big horns for years and have always visited the bear lodge for dinner and have always received great service. In 2019 I stayed in the motel a number of nights and had the very best service. The room was clean and customer service was a the best.

My fiancee and I only went for lunch, surprisingly it was delicious! Their pies are hands down amazing! As a side note, we did go to Bear lodge in the winter of 2017 to snowmobile (or snow machine riding depending on where you're from) with her Mother and Father. It was a last minute decision, and they provided a tour guide in no time at all, incredibly friendly!

Bear Lodge Resort, outside of Sheridan Wyoming

Up front the staff was very friendly. The "Resort" I would give three stars really. I gave it four because I wouldn't really call it a resort. Now it could be, but its not right now. For a Campground... the spots are not level At All, nor are the utilities on the same side. There is no cell reception, which is normally a reason to go, but with no wifi either being able to connect to loved ones during a hurricane is impossible. They do have a Restaurant and a Bar. There is also a Indoor Pool and Hot Tub. There was ONLY 2 Showers for the entire campground, one by the pool and one by the bar. These were also very small showers, but still a shower with HOT water. As for toilets they were either porti potties or outhouses except in, two spots if my memory works right. At least those were brick buildings. The laundry had two large capacity washers and one small drier. There was two more spots for driers. The drier was barely working, no heat. The Lodge was very nice and the Food in the Restaurant was good.

My stay was enjoyable yet loud at times. The colors changing are beautiful this time of year, but save your visit for spring or summer without all the hunters. Hiking and fishing and biking will all be safer then.

By the way its up for sale if someone wants to back me restoring it and making a five star Resort out of it.
