Beach House Barwon Heads Review

They took our booking in the morning and we travelled a long way to get there we had been holidaying on the surf coast for a week and a half and had heard good things about this place. On arrival they looked at our Id and sent us packing we explained that we had been in town for 10 days and acting on advice from the government were going home when our holiday finished. This was not good enough for them and they said we could come in and use the toilet then leave. By this point our kids were in tears wondering why they couldn t get any dinner it was a horrible experience.

My prawn pasta was the same cut up spaghetti as the kids meal....

Was charged initially full price on my credit card when I should have received a discount from my club card. Fixed without me even asking by the server coming over to our table with the difference in cash. Love that service recovery!

Over priced for scrambled eggs for a two year old. I did not order once I noticed the prices.

Overall disappointing visit - considering the venue was mostly empty due to COVID restrictions a simple order of brunch for two took approx. 45 minutes to arrive at the table. My dish came out with missing items from the order so it was sent back to the kitchen to resolve.
Furthermore, the eggs benedict was served with little to no hollandaise sauce resulting in a very salty and otherwise tasteless meal. The only reason I have not given 1 star is because the service staff were very well mannered and attentive.

Ok. Great burger but didn't get everything we ordered...

"Never fails to disappoint" - last visit charged me $1 extra for ketchup for my $25 burger. FFS! Luckily there a many great alternatives in Barwon Heads.

Decent food but extremely expensive for what you get. $15 for 150 grams of calamari which could have been better.

Nice spot to sit out the front, have a drink, and do people watching. Even when its a bit cooler they have big heaters overhead

A very clean place with a nice vibe. Surprising quiet when we arrived with only 4 other tables occupied inside. Wait time on our food was extremely long, with our meals coming out in 2 s (total of 6). By the time our last two family members received their meals, everyone else had almost finished. Wasn t a great dining experience overall, with the massive delays you would expect everything to be exceptionally cooked and piping hot although this wasn t the case. Below average!!

We really enjoyed our lunch. We had hamburgers, grilled whiting, battered whiting, chips and sweet potato cakes. So many chips! Everything was delicious, thanks for making our day guys.

Had breakfast here. Was ok. For me 2 eggs deserves 2 pieces of toast.

Great food at great prices. The service was fantastic and also found it an easy place to eat with a toddler. Staff are very sweet as well. Will definitely be back

My husband and i went for breakfast this morning and thourally enjoyed the atmosphere,the coffee and breakfast and also the music .Everything is very clean the staff were very good .We are in the food business ourselves and could not fault anything .

I enjoyed my first experience at BeachHouse. Friendly service, great atmosphere, delicious food and great coffee!

Our meal was lovely, served efficiently and quickly by very friendly but unobtrusive staff. Definitely on the pricy side, leaving us out of pocket nearly $200 for entrees, mains and a couple of drinks each for two people. Worth it for a special occasion, though.
Only two small beefs: I m not a fan of shared bench seating. If I m having a special dinner for two, I don t like sharing a long bench with other diners with their table only a short distance away. Kinda douses the intimacy a little. And maybe it s not terribly appropriate watching a staff member chewing gum with his mouth open as he wandered about the room.
But still definitely worth four stars. We had a nice night. Thank you.

Slow to start in terms of getting assistance when we arrived but after that it was great. A little pricey but great food overall and loved the Bouillabaisse.

Substantial serves, credit card okay, lunch kitchen open till 3pm.

Nice place, average food, service was a little inconsistent.

The staff were not friendly. made it so difficult as every staff had his own rules around the ordering. the first one said order with the barcode, the second one said order at te bar and the last one said steve will help you and we ended up leaving the bar.

Not for vegetarians, probably the worst example of overpriced jackfruit I ve come across. It was just mush and not a pleasant flavour. I let them know but no interest shown. Stick to the fries, they were good. Mango salad was ok.

Sat for an hour and had to get the waiters attention to be served. People were arriving after us and being served first. Was very poor service wouldn't recommend.

Overpriced undercooked!
30+ meat and cheese platter came with hunks of last nights roast, tiny cube of cheese and one piece of bread cut into 4.
Ordered chips to fill us up, they were undercooked and gross. Service wasn t much Better.

Always nice food friendly staff, take my visitors from Melbourne or interstate there, haven't been let down.

Bit pricey but the staff are awesome and you can take a dog.

Really good food and friendly staff, was going to take half a star off because our food was a little bit late but I ruined the toilet so thought a courteous half a star plus was in order. On a side note, whoever chose the airfreshner for the men's toilet deserves a raise as that scent of lavender may have saved a life after I was done in there.

Great for a bite to eat on a sunny evening. The Grazing menu has good selection to share $10 to $15. Cold beverages on tap always help as well.

My partner and I stayed in Barwon Heads for a little getaway weekend. I read the reviews on this place (as I often do to find a good eat) and nearly didn't go for the several less positive reviews.
Well I thoroughly enjoyed my steak, my partner loved her main also, great garlic pizza, nice wine and to top it off our waiter gave us a glass of red each on the house. He claimed it was to apologise for the wait, although we didn't wait long at all.
Perhaps luck of the draw, but I rate this place well. Oh and went for brekky the next day too.

Took a good 45 minutes to get our food and our meal came out before our entree.
Food was average, disappointed.

We paid premium price for terrible experiences.

Environment was average, Food&coffee were below average and the service was poor. The waitresses looked depressing and did not seem happy with her job at all. no water, napkin or knife and fork were provided while we were waiting for the food.

Should have had our brunch somewhere else in the town!

Well organised, beautiful atmosphere, great service, delicious food/great menu. Very happy.

The staff here are unbelievably rude with huge attitude problems. Could not care less about seating you, taking your order or getting your food or drinks to you. Multiple times when our table was trying to get the attention of a staff member they were standing around talking and ignoring us instead. Was literally laughed at by one of the staff members after asking for additional napkins after spilling coffee on myself. The food was delicious, but considering all of the other great looking venues around, I won't be returning.

Great choice if you are in Barwon Heads. Little crowded around the bar area, so don t get in the way. The day we were there, staff were a little tired, but I am sure this is not the norm, it was the end of a busy summer. Food was good, not AI, but good, solid fare.

Only 4 stars as they still have their coeliac menu incorrect.the fries and sourdough are not gluten free.

The Bouillabaisse is one of the best seafood dishes anywhere. Consistently good

I was so impressed by the young people serving, they were so friendly and helpful. The food was good, sat on the deck and really enjoyed the atmosphere!

Lovely place to have breakfast and a coffee after a walk along river . Outside heaters are great.

Best Steak Frites on the Bellarine and fabulous service!

Terrible service. I've never been to a place that has such poor service before. The food and coffee were average. Given the prices, you expect better.
