Positive and uplifting
Been going here for many years, there is something here for everyone
They value each member. Our kids love the vacation bible school Breakaway events and we enjoy the music and encouraging messages each week. We especially enjoy the yearly Leadership events Thrive they are well done and worth the effort to attend.

Been attending a few weeks and pastors here feel pretty LUKEWARM. Sermons range about 80% talking about vacations, sports, and other story's and 20% of actual Bible scripture.
You won't hear Bible verses like this @ this church...
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Today my husband and children attended the church, First off it is a bit much because of its size the people were friendly at the children's area and the welcome people. we were late so don't have much of an opinion on the service but was upset to hear my daughter was kicked because of this I don't feel that it will be safe to bring my children back here.

Very disturbing to see people say in the reviews of this church that if you "do not like this church you are 18 inches from heaven." Saying that you must like or attend a specific church in order to get to heaven is the sign of a cult. This church is a mega church with Granite Bay elite lining up at the Starbucks style coffee bar to buy over-priced lattes before/after and during service. The music is so loud (with smoke and flashing lights) that is it more akin to people wanting to go to a rock concert on Sundays and get an emotional high.

The sermons appear to be primarily about emotionalism, getting people "pumped up" and hyper emotional in order to cover the lack of the Holy Spirit being present.

What I see is that most of those who "adore" this church and all of its "good works" also chase after social causes like a greyhounds after a rabbits. I have had many members brag up what they do with the church and what the church does for the community. However, I have never once had a member talk to me about Yeshua (Jesus Christ). After attending this church repeatedly, I have NEVER ONCE heard a salvation message preached. Nope, it is all about making people with lots of money feel good so they donate to the church. The pastors appear hesitant, they temper things. They clearly fear offending their wealthy "clientele" who are there for a "positive and uplifting" message.

The small groups are better because they are one on one people. However, no saving knowledge of Christ is being expressed. BEWARE. You can get caught up in this "playing Christian" scenario very easily if you do not know your Bible. Yes, you will be doing lots of good works here if you volunteer for even a fraction of the "events" and "programs" and "missions." But you may find in the end that Jesus never knew you.

Do not buy into their "feel good" message and "I'm okay, you're okay" mentality. I simply do not see pastors here willing to challenge their congregation with a saving knowledge of G-d's grace or a true understanding of conviction. This is just another "ask_Jesus_into_ya_heart_an_you_got_fire_insurance cause it's okay to keep_your_life_as_it_is_cause_gawd_luvs_ya" church. No call to repentance, no conviction by the Ruach ha'Kodesh (Holy Spirit). Be discerning. Know your Bible. Your salvation depends on it.

Bayside truly does have something for everyone. Various parts of the community call them when they need help. Active kids, middle and high school ministry. Contemporary music and great Bible teaching. They shut down the campus twice a year and take on service projects across the area - public schools, malls, businesses, etc.

I have been attending Bayside for years! They literally have something for everyone, they do not want to leave anyone behind. They are accepting of all and they understand that people are not perfect, which is why we all need God in the first place.

Overall, Bayside is a humbling place, especially if you get "plugged-in" by joining small grounds, going to events, and finding your niche where you can make a difference.

The funny part is, you go in wanting to make a difference and come out with a difference being made in you!

I have attended this church a couple of times by my sister's invitation. Basically you can't think of bayside church as a church really, it's more of a self help guru meeting place with various help programs for sex addicts, and alcoholics. Which seems like a positive thing at first but it does give you an idea of the kind of attendees it attracts, "mostly people struggling with addictions". Now this is not really a bad thing everyone needs some help sometimes. But my issue is with the way their Pastor spends a majority of the time telling people they need to give 10% of their income and he goes to great lengths talking about this. Ray Johnston their Pastor is in fact not even a registered minister, he's a a self proclaimed self help guru/ ceo of bayside llc. so case in short I believe he's making an awfully good living off of peoples donations, "so i think some attendee's need to ask themselves before donating money what kind of house/car does Ray Johnston have?" not to mention all the "Pastors" he's hired in at his attendees expense. To make my point it only takes one priest and a couple of volunteer's to run a huge catholic church, but Bayside seems to have 10-15 pastors all on payroll interesting huh! They are really a branch of the Evangelical's, and the whole ceremony seems like a cheesy christian rock concert, complete with strobes and other lighting effects, and the music was awful I'm not trying to be mean but there is some christian rock I like, but this stuff was just plain awful I mean worse than Creed terrible if you need to catch my drift. Just remember this is the cousin church of Ted Haggard, actually some of the church's Pastor's are from Haggard's church, and we all now that story so attendee's and donor's beware!

There can never be enough of this in the world. Great musicians will take you into another world and forget all your worries. Pastors teach the bible in a light that is constantly interesting and makes you want to continue to learn on your own and come back again and again. In children's ministry, we connect with children in age appropriate learning material and art, games, bible readings and translations they can understand. No church comes close!

If I could, I would give zero stars. The singles ministry headed by Dan H., who is not a registered /certified pastor, resembles a CULT! you are not allowed to mingle with people EXCEPT those in your age group. If you have a b day and maxed out of the age limit in your group/table, they kick you out , they will tell you , literally, that you can not seat with anyone not in your age group. they Don't care abt your friends left behind. Or worship. DOES THIS BEHAVIOR sound Godly? NO!
Do yourself a favor and go to a real church lead by real God fearing people. Seems as though pastor ray has allowed Dan H and his wife Teresa to run amuck dictating their own biases. Until more people have courage to post here their devilish experience with this poor excuse of a so called 'church' nothing is going to change.

If you want to be entertained for free and a great show this is just the place for you! If you truly want a growing relationship with Jesus and want to forsake your flesh pick up the life Jesus has for you, and follow Jesus then this church is not what your looking for. There are a few that are truly following Jesus, Jesus will lead you to them. just come to Him for advice on where to go, don t follow the crowds that travel on the broad road which leads to destruction. Follow the narrow path that will lead you to life, only a few find it. The narrow path is available to all who want to desperately follow Jesus.

Excellent church with excellent Bible based teaching and heartfelt Hillsong worship music and numerous small groups and outreach ministries. Thrive conference and apologetics conference are cool. Lincoln Brewster is the jewel in the crown, awesome worship leader. Church for people who don't like church. If you're not into megachurch type services and upbeat atmosphere and you prefer a more solemn reverential atmosphere like most Catholic churches with traditional hymns and liturgy then you will not like this church. Personally I am quite ecumenical and I appreciate all churches and all different styles of worship so I could feel at home just as much in a small traditional Catholic church as in a modern evangelistic megachurch.
As good as Bayside is, no church is perfect, so a couple constructive criticisms about Bayside. Sometimes the preaching gets too loud or strident, I would prefer a more conversational tone, like talking person-to-person instead of a high-pitched oratory performance on stage, because that usually comes across as phony or putting on an act or talking down at the people. God speaks to hearts "loudest" with a whisper, a still small voice, not shouting like a storm. Another constructive critique is that sometimes the worship music gets too repetitive, playing the same handful of songs week after week and month after month gets old. There are thousands of modern Christian songs to choose from so why play the same ones all the time. Even if you stick with Hillsong alone, there are still 100+ songs to choose from. Mix it up much more. Another issue is sometimes it's hard to find a parking space, although that's a good problem to have if you're a church. Another issue is if you want to have a more personal relationship with your pastor, it's hard because Ray and Curt and Lincoln and Andrew have such busy schedules. Some people criticize Bayside as "cultish". I haven't had that experience myself, but individual experiences and opinions vary based on reviews I've read and heard. Another potential critique is doctrinal, taking everything in the Bible as literal truth beyond question, even if modern science says otherwise. Maybe it's better to interpret the text as allegory or metaphor and teach both sides of the argument, like this is what science says about how things evolved and the supporting evidence, and this is what the Bible says. I'd argue based on modern science there are clearly many passages in the Bible that have to be interpreted as allegory and metaphor, not literal truth, including Genesis 1, or passages in the Bible that appear to endorse genocide, slavery etc.

Senior Pastor Ray, do you feel in your heart that the Holy Spirit has told you to continue to grow the church or is it your church by building pizza restraunts, fancy cafe's, soccer fields, and state of art children play areas TO GROW BAYSIDE, to bring families together and grow your church? Sir, WHERE is this money coming from? Is it the congregation that's paying the bill? You talked about the early church and how they operate. This doesn't appear anything like the early church. And the bible is still relevant. Perhaps this is a church that isn't focused on DISCIPLESHIP as much any longer?

The are an amazing community of people doing good in the area. If you have never been they welcome newcomers in the most warm way and have the most rocking band and relatable pastors. I ve been hesitant to walk into churches before. You never know what you are going to experience. Bayside is a totally safe place for you, your friends and family to attend. There s an emphasis on caring for people in a genuine way. Look, no church is perfect, but my family and I have been moved by how consistently they have encouraged the congregation to care for its community. The music is inspiring and really really good. Some say it s like a concert but I don t mind that. I find that so much more engaging and a nice change of pace in the week. The teaching from pastors Curt and Andrew is always good. They re super down to earth, funny and incredibly insightful. This is the first place I ve felt like going to church did t have to feel like a chore. Just sayin.

This church was a lifesaver on Sunday. For the past few months my family has struggled to find the right place for us with everyone welcome. It's especially hard with my youngest brother having autism. After leaving another church we felt like giving up but decided on trying one more church. After pulling up in the parking lot and entering we were greeted by excellent staff ready to show us around. Being first time guests we had no idea where anything was. The moment we entered the special needs room we knew it was perfect for us having everything we could need. The volunteers were nice, the room was nice and spacious, they had an assortment of toys, a quiet room, and even a big ballpit. I highly recommend trying this church out and who knows it might be the one for you. I know we will go back every Sunday.

I taught Bible study at Granite Bay for 8 yrs. I taught the oppisite of what Johnson taught ever week. This Church teachs that we are santified by our works. I would say and many of my friends there agree that over half the congregation is not saved and have 0 relationship with God through Christ. what they do is projects of good works and that is theier substute for a spiritual birth in Christ. their statement of faith as to the nature of man is the opposite of what ever and I mean ever Protestant denomination believes. it is a statement almost exactly of the Mormon Church.

"People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin . This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life."

this is it. if you know anything about theology this stands against ever creed of faith. it is a combo of Humanism and he Bible also known as a cult or a heresy

All the people rating anything below 3 stars are either single, or can't handle the fact that not all people that go to church are saved. Church is a place of God and does not deserve a number. Church is also what you make of it. Sure, kids that go here drink and smoke, but at least they are still going to church! I've known many friends that have gotten addicted to drugs and haven't been to church in years. This is a church. Treat it like one.

Nothing great about this church. They only care about people for their money, considering how much they emphasize on tithing in the sermons. You re just a number at this place.

The groups are very cliquey. For a loving Christian community, they sure are good at making others feel invisible and those that do acknowledge you only do so when they feel like it. The group leaders are just as bad. Unless you re part of their in-crowd , it s a waste of time; a throwback to the worst of Middle School. Secular people have proven to be much more sincere than this batch of phony Christians.

About five years ago, my hubby and I decided to look for a church that would meet our needs especially with 7 and 10 yr. girls at the time. We wanted a church that not only offered solid bible teaching who'd preach Jesus' death and resurrection without watering it down but also an exceptional children's ministry along with various volunteer opportunities. Well, God heard our prayers because Bayside offered all three and MUCH more. We visited at least three other churches in the area, enough times to see what they offered. Nothing compared to what Bayside offers and certainly not the quality of fundamental bible teaching by the incredible pastors (specifically Ray and Kurt). Is it a big church? Yes. Does it have rock worship music? Yes. Does it teach the bible fundamentals? Yes. Does that mean it's not a good church? No. This church fit our family perfectly. Our 11 yr. old is on fire for God and LOVES Club 56 (for 5th & 6th graders). I've recently joined a women's bible study and am meeting wonderful Godly women. My hubby and I have had numerous opportunities to serve including in children's church for four years. My advice to anyone looking for a church is to come to Bayside and attend service about 6-10 times. Take their Core 101 Class which explains their beliefs and how the church was started (super fun class and they serve dinner!) Look into what you desire and need in a church. You just might find exactly what you're looking for at Bayside. I know we did.
