Best blueberry pie I ever had ...beautiful view and peaceful place to eat
This place is filled with local history. Sailing on the Meerwald is always a worthwhile excursion and although I have sailed several times, I always learn something new. On this 7/18 sailing we saw brown pelicans in addition to numerous bald eagles!
The staff is always friendly and informative. The exhibits are spectacular! I love the Bayshore Center! And, the food at the Oyster Cracker Cafe is delicious!
Every time I come to Bayshore Center I Bivalve NJ I learn a little bit more about the history of the oyster industry and the maritime history of the place. Today I was blessed enough to take a 6-hour sail on the AJ Meerwald a beautiful old schooner out into the Delaware Bay where we saw some amazing lighthouses. Being out on the water is definitely one of my happy places. The rain and the wind may have been discouraging to some of my fellow travelers but to me any moment spent out on the water is a good moment. As a very special bonus we saw many pods of bottle nose dolphins and some were leaping joyfully out of the water. Incredible! The captain and the crew and the volunteers and interns were fun, gracious, knowledgeable and very capable. These cruises are designed not only for the enjoyment of being out on the water, but also for environmental educational purposes which is incredibly important to me. There should be more opportunities like this in our community for people to learn about their environment and how important it is to preserve it, respect it, and help it thrive. We had a wonderful time I recommend this trip to everyone old and young alike!
Awesome day on the AJ Meerwald and had dinner ready for us when we docked.
Went on the first sail of the season for the A.J. Meerwald on the Maurice River with my father and a couple of his buddies a couple weeks ago. It was a blast. Great learning experience and a calm relaxing educational ride up the river! Stopped at the Oyster Cracker for lunch afterwards and that's a must if you do this cruise. In fact the two kinda go hand in hand.
The restaurant is a gem. Real history here. The people are fantastic.
Love the sea and the gulls. Close to South Jersey for both. Great secret to check out.
This ship belonged to my great great grandfather. Cool!
Wonderful experience.Crew was very knowledgeable. Thanks for a fun time
Very interesting museum for Delaware Bay and history of the huge oystering industry. Lots of antiques on display, too. Small cafe w healthy selections...no junk foods here. Can walk out in the, docks to see the river. The trails were not very interesting, just straight lines thru the reeds, along canals. But stop by the boaters parking lot nearby, at NJ Marine State Police, for beautiful bay views and lots of different birds!
Great day everyone was welcoming. The crew entertaing. Definitely worth the time.
I enjoy small museums that focus on a single part of the world. The Bayshore Center is hyper-focused on the oyster industry of the 1900s. It's informational with a wide variety of artifacts.
The one improvement I would make is explaining the ecology and ecosystems of the bay.
I COME CHECK US OUT YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID. STOP AND HAVE LUNCH AT THE OYSTER CRACKER CAFE GREAT GRUB. HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON FOR NOW FAIR WINDS.
A quaint museum with artifacts and family history. An enjoyable experience
Historic NJ location with interactive learning, restaurant, sites, & atmosphere. Welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Truly a unique experience. A "must" for oyster lovers. Free parking. I recommend calling ahead or checking out website for seasonal times & activities.
A hidden gem in South Jersey! An exciting adventure on the AJ Meerwald that I will always remember! Friendly crew, fun and informative! The museum is very well done, authentic hands on, and fun for the whole family!
It's quite a great place and we'll worth the drive which is also beautiful.
Come sail with us on the AJ Meerwald, New Jersey's official tall ship.
