Used to love this place! Food was always excellent in the past. The last time we were there the food was bitter and extremely spicy. This was not normal. We visit this restaurant once a month and I always order the same vegan plate (because it's the only vegan dish available) so I know what to expect. Last visit my dish was not the same...not yummy...not full of flavor...just butter and extremely spicy hot. I like some heat to my food but it was like the whole bottle of cayenne was dropped in the pot!
Very disappointed.

I want to like these guys, but I haven't had a great lunch or dinner here yet.

Breakfast is great. One of the best in town, IMHO, in fact. The crawfish scramble is awesome.

The po' boys are on fancy bread, which anyone who's had an actual po' boy can tell you, isn't the point.

The seafood pasta is okay, but not great.

And the carafes! My kingdom for carafes big enough to fill three glasses of water! I'd give an extra star just for that, I think.

I haven't given up on Bayou on Bay, I'm just unexcited so far.

Excellent. Great service. Dry rub ribs, jumbalaya, deep fried oysters followed up with coconut bread pudding with a fabulous vanilla ice cream. I'm stuffed and happy. Pretty good narguaritas too

Great atmosphere and great brunch. We had the shrimp and grits and the oscar breakfast plate and both were delicious. The shrimp and grits had a hint of smokiness. The oscar featured fresh grab, perfectly cooked flank steak and amazing breakfast potatoes- they were garlicky, crispy and fluffy on the inside.

Food quality was fantastic. Some major issues though. The quantity was far too little. And the prices are extremely high. I left here having spent almost 45 dollars and had to get fast food afterwards so I wasnt still hungry. Not something i should have to do after spending almost 45 bucks.

This has been a go to spot for years. Just walking past the building will tell you everything you need to know. Delicious smells from blocks away... Very reasonable prices and a great happy hour. Professional and personal staff. Best Creole food I've had in the Pacific NW. Five. Stars.

I agree with another post in that if you've never been to New Orleans or aren't from the south where you can get excellent cajun food, you'll probably enjoy this. I loved the hush puppies and hurricanes. As for the blackened catfish, it was decent, but the red beans and rice fell way short of the mark. My boyfriend's etouffee had a nice flavor, but it lacked depth and the vegetables in it were too big and undercooked. We did enjoy the prawns and alligator in his dish. Being from the south, the cornbread was an abomination. It was super dense, moist, sticky and sweet...just no. The ambiance was fun and the service was excellent, so I'll probably go back, but more so for happy hour and appetizers than dinner.

Service is great, seating is ample, food is excellent, prices fair. I thought the jambalaya needed salt, my date disagreed. Beignets were about as good as you can get outside NOLA. We will be back.

ASTONISHINGLY good and authentic cajun food! Everything a homesick Alabamian heart could desire. The service is always phenomenal and so friendly as well. I recommend their brunch - who doesn't love a bloody mary bar?

Everything I've had here - gator, frog legs, catfish, etouffe, gumbo - has been amazing. The wait staff are friendly and great at explaining the menu for anyone who might be squeamish about Cajun food.

Seafood pasta dish said fresh. Ummm no unless you like mini scallops salad shrimp which an hr later caused nausea. My sister fried catfish was not done and nephews blackened catfish the same plus his rice was so hard it felt like melted plastic. Will NEVER return.

Really cool atmosphere and a decent happy hour. The food was, to my surprise, very good and the portions were a lot more than expected. I ordered 7 items on happy hour for a bill of only $36 plus tip. Also, service was excellent, perfect blend of friendly, and distance so I could enjoy my taking with my friend. Good job!

I have been disappointed by the erratic quality of both the food and the service in recent visits. Sometimes gumbo and poor boys are fantastic. And then the gumbo might be soupy. Sometimes the staff are friendly, others inattentive and rushed.
Vegetarian/vegan dishes have been mediocre, and staff not always helpful in accommodating dietary restrictions.

Bayou on the Bay is cozy and inviting. They have an excellent dining area outside as well as a large bar with tons of seating. They have an area to eat outside the bar with an additional seating area upstairs. I ordered popcorn shrimp and the steak salad. The food took longer to arrive than I expected but I was not disappointed when I ate. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Definitely worth the wait! My friends and I had an amazing time and I was pleased with the prices as well! We will be going back soon!

Great Cajun food. The vegan jambalaya is my favorite. It can get pretty busy so its not a bad idea to make reservations on a Friday evening. Or you can just drink at the bar until a table opens up!

Stumbled across this place for happy hour. Great menu and lots of food and drink selections on their happy hour. Great special prices and quality of food very good. Their onion soup is delicious. Staff very friendly and attentive. We will be going back.

The place was a little pricey, and the feel was a little grungy BUT the food and service were phenomenal and that s the whole reason to go out!

We ll be back for happy hour deals for sure!

Best oyster po boy I've ever had and that's saying alot since I have eaten southern food my whole life. Nice view. Great prices including happy hour. service was excellent. I felt really welcomed. Will be coming back to try the alligator and shrimp n grits

Love the food and the atmosphere. Really bad experience booking a table for my bachlorette party. My sister booked a large table for my aunts and cousins. They called to ask us if we could move to a later time to accommodate a party before us. We agreed cause it's Bellingham and we're friendly. They ended up giving our table away to another group even though our group was there on time. Not friendly behavior on their part.

Amazing food and drinks! Happy hour is great and the mac and cheese is my favorite. The brunch menu is also something to try. I absolutely love the shrimp and grits and it never leaves me unsatisfied.

Food here was delicious, service was great too. Just the right vibe for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. We had steak and tuna dishes which were both cooked to perfection. Plus the wings are really good too.

Unprofessional service, with no apparent concern for food quality, this place is indicative of the declining state of eateries found throughout this region. A sampling of the shrimp and grits should have served as a warning of things to come and can only be described as ad nauseam.
The beer was lukewarm, even a simple po boy lacked the quality found in mini mart cuisine.
The millennial staff lived up to their reputation, and felt no obligation to comp anything despite 2 nearly untouched entrees, and 2 un drinkable, warm beers.

Food was decent, beer was good, service was pretty slow. Had to waive down the waitress for a refill and the cheque. I eat out a lot and usually someone comes by the table and asks if everything is okay/if I want a refill before my glass is empty. Wasn't a super busy night, but maybe they were short staffed?
