So very disappointed in this restaurant. I have never had the opportunity to eat here because both times I ve tried they shut down the restaurant portion early so only the bar was open. The first time I tried it was 10:30pm when they close at 12am so I was willing to try again, I was just let down again. I came on a Thursday night at 9:15pm and they had already shut down the restaurant portion and being that I am not 21 I couldn t dine here. So thoroughly disappointed with this type of customer service, and will never be returning. Absolute bull s***.

Only (little tiny itty bitty) complaint is that the seating is a little awkward and not super comfy. Minimal downstairs seating and upstairs the chairs aren't great. Easily overlooked as the food is awesome and I'd sit on a dirty chunk of driftwood for their alligator dip!

My favorites are the Cajun Bloody Mary (with beer back, by request)...and pretty much everything on the menu. Shrimp etoufee, gumbo, chicken caesar salad, catfish, Mac and cheese, gravy fries, oyster shooters, steak salad, shrimp & grits for breakfast, etc...YUM!

I've been to this place a bunch and tried a few different things, but I just can't stay away from their Mac n cheese with bacon. They give you so much, and it makes the best left overs! I also am a big fan of their fried chicken po-boy and their hush puppies. My one dig? I feel that the service is kind of nonchalant and casual - which some waiters really pull off, but other times leaves me wishing for more. Never been a huge issue, never stopped me from coming back, but something I've noticed.

I chose to have lunch in the restaurant as opposed to the separate bar area. Cozy with darker wood booths and tables. I ordered a hurricane to start and it was tasty and pretty. For food, I had to try their shrimp and grits. Made with bacon, cheese, mushrooms (and more) in a delicious cream sauce, the mix is laid over grits. It was fantastic. I indulged and got beignets for dessert. Good but a little harder than I assumed they d be. Either way, happy I finally stopped in for a new lunch experience.

I have eaten there twice now and was felt it was Ok enough. But I am going to give it another try because I do love that style of food. My issue was that the food was luke warm and slow in delivery. This type of food needs to be at the table fast and hot.

Overall the food was very good, jambalaya, creole, ect. all very well done. However, the biscuits and gravy were awful, it tasted like they used a sweet Italian sausage in it and it was very strange. The service was pretty slow for not being very busy, but that's just nitpicking. Other than that it was a lot of fun and we will be coming back.

Unfortunately our order must have not been put in. Waited about 50 minutes for our entree and then the server came and said so sorry for the wait, not sure what happened but they're just going to make them now and it will be another 20 minutes. We just left as we had our 1 yr old with us and she needed to go to bed. Food might be good but we weren't able to find out.

Brunch here is solid. The food here is well. . . It seems like a nice restaurant so you would expect nice food. Well they need to use their microwave less in the their kitchen. The wait staff here are really nice and friendly. Be ready to wait for your food here.

The food at this place has REALLY gone downhill in the last year. The fried chicken sandwich used to be the best in town. I ordered it tonight and it came on what honestly looked like a fast food bun. It wasn't particularly warm either. The chicken was dry and flavorless. It was $14. Look elsewhere folks

Its been a while but I was so happy they opened this unique mix of Southern and Pacific Northwest flavors and at one of my favorite buildings downtown. Since it has been quite a while and the menu is probably a littlw different now, I will tell you that the building it calls home has a rich history. The atmosphere is nice inside and outside if the you prefer. Its right of the Bay and its kick back and casual or great to dress up id you choose. We like that around Bellingham. I would suggest not wearing socks with sandals of any kind though. Just saying

We earlier in the day for happy hour. Food was really delicious, had the mac n cheese and chicken tenders. Grown up flavor and good mix of seasonings. Chicken was moist and sauces were hardy. Drinks were a bit weak in my opinion but not enough to go down a star. Theres a reason its a popular spot downtown.

My g/f and I had always had good food here. I m from the south and their Cajun cooking is spot-on, with the exception that they have some vegetarian/vegan options, which Cajun s typically do not! So, good choices all around for everyone!

Not too long ago we had a bad experience and I said as much in my review. But, kudos to Bayou for reaching out and making the effort to make things right. We recently went back with some friends and had a fantastic meal and some drinks from the bar. Everyone had something different some of us are vegans, some vegetarians, and some meat eaters. Again, something for everyone and everyone enjoyed the meal. BTW the Mac n Cheese is pretty stellar, but it s also very rich. We split it and that worked well for everyone.

If you like Cajun food, you will like Bayou. Good food. Good service, and management that cares to make sure you enjoy your experience.
