We stopped in for a round of beers for my son's 35th birth day. Friendly staff, cold brew, and awesome fried okra.

New favorite place to eat in Bellingham! Appetizers, entres, and desserts all perfect.
The food was amazing and the waitress was super sweet.
Food was yummy and good portions. Service was very friendly and attentive.
Reliably good Cajun food. Decent and somewhat original drink selection. I love that they stock Abitas beer. Get the hush puppies. They are a favorite of mine.
I found Sterling great service and smells and comfort there
Always a great happy hour! Bread pudding was amazing!
Wonderful staff and amazing food. Thank you for such a wonderful brunch outing.
So very disappointed in this restaurant. I have never had the opportunity to eat here because both times I ve tried they shut down the restaurant portion early so only the bar was open. The first time I tried it was 10:30pm when they close at 12am so I was willing to try again, I was just let down again. I came on a Thursday night at 9:15pm and they had already shut down the restaurant portion and being that I am not 21 I couldn t dine here. So thoroughly disappointed with this type of customer service, and will never be returning. Absolute bull s***.
It was ok. Nothing spectacular, service and food were both mediocre.
I've never had a bad meal here, and I've been going here since they opened.
* Gator Done *
We've Been Here a Couple of Times. The Wife Likes the JAMBALAYA and I'm Into the GATOR SPECIAL.
Would Strongly Make Reservations as It Tends 2 B Busy Especialy During HAPPY HOUR.
The Place Is a Little Small Inside With A Good Atmosphere - - Can B a Little Noisey at Times.
From What I've Heard The Service Can B A Little Lacking - - Hell Your Going 2 Get That Anywhere From Time 2 Time. All in All We've Had a Good Experience Here.
Only (little tiny itty bitty) complaint is that the seating is a little awkward and not super comfy. Minimal downstairs seating and upstairs the chairs aren't great. Easily overlooked as the food is awesome and I'd sit on a dirty chunk of driftwood for their alligator dip!
Cool neighborhood bar, Jambalaya is my favorite meal here!
My new favorite breakfast in Bellingham and the best bloody Mary bar in town
My favorites are the Cajun Bloody Mary (with beer back, by request)...and pretty much everything on the menu. Shrimp etoufee, gumbo, chicken caesar salad, catfish, Mac and cheese, gravy fries, oyster shooters, steak salad, shrimp & grits for breakfast, etc...YUM!
It's not bad, but if this place was in Louisiana it would probably go out of business, as there it would be mediocre.
It's Cajun for Washington. That's probably the best way to put it.
Delicious food. Gumbo and mac&cheese is sooooo good. Nice cozy and jazzy place. Wonderful art and music. Absolutely love this place. Highly recommended.
Good vibes, good service and I love the atmosphere.
I've been to this place a bunch and tried a few different things, but I just can't stay away from their Mac n cheese with bacon. They give you so much, and it makes the best left overs! I also am a big fan of their fried chicken po-boy and their hush puppies. My one dig? I feel that the service is kind of nonchalant and casual - which some waiters really pull off, but other times leaves me wishing for more. Never been a huge issue, never stopped me from coming back, but something I've noticed.
Love it! Good drinks service. Crab cakes are reccomend! Busy so come early expecting to wait. Worth it
Cajun Bloddy Mary is amazing and their food has never disappointed me, no matter what you get.
great food and friendly servers. sadly I didn't eat a lot when I was there because I was dying of fever. also I may have been delusional at the time. from my memory though it was a very impressive place :))
Love this place great food and drinks. The remulaude (sp?) And sweet potato fries are to die for.
Really good and reasonably priced food and drinks! And our dog enjoyed the outdoor seating too!
I chose to have lunch in the restaurant as opposed to the separate bar area. Cozy with darker wood booths and tables. I ordered a hurricane to start and it was tasty and pretty. For food, I had to try their shrimp and grits. Made with bacon, cheese, mushrooms (and more) in a delicious cream sauce, the mix is laid over grits. It was fantastic. I indulged and got beignets for dessert. Good but a little harder than I assumed they d be. Either way, happy I finally stopped in for a new lunch experience.
The only place I know that serves cajun, with lots of home made sprits paired with home made flavors, mixers...etc. and on Sundays bring in your paycheck for 10% the whole meal.
I had shrimp and grits with gator it was awsome also had jalapeno and pepper infused vodka oyster shooters also great had a good time here
Great service! Delicious food and drinks. Perfect sunset spot.
Wow everything was amazing from the beer to the crab cakes and the the seafood pasta!!! My new favorite place!!!
I have eaten there twice now and was felt it was Ok enough. But I am going to give it another try because I do love that style of food. My issue was that the food was luke warm and slow in delivery. This type of food needs to be at the table fast and hot.
Best food! Authentic southern cuisine. I had the blackened ribeye...OMG! It was cooked so perfect, even the fat was delicious! Bayou On Bay is worth making a trip to Bellingham... You got to try it.
Really good brunch selection, I'd recommend salmon benedict. Staff is friendly and attentive.
The food here is great. Definitley worth going to for a night out. A little pricey, defintley the type of place you want to go and sitdown in. Friendly service and good portions so I would recommend.
Fun Louisiana cooking with great atmosphere. You feel transported to the South.
Best cajun/creole food in town. Excellent brunch. Try the Po boy, crabcakes, and alligator.
Overall the food was very good, jambalaya, creole, ect. all very well done. However, the biscuits and gravy were awful, it tasted like they used a sweet Italian sausage in it and it was very strange. The service was pretty slow for not being very busy, but that's just nitpicking. Other than that it was a lot of fun and we will be coming back.
Unfortunately our order must have not been put in. Waited about 50 minutes for our entree and then the server came and said so sorry for the wait, not sure what happened but they're just going to make them now and it will be another 20 minutes. We just left as we had our 1 yr old with us and she needed to go to bed. Food might be good but we weren't able to find out.
It was just so expensive and the food wasn't justifying the price.
Brunch here is solid. The food here is well. . . It seems like a nice restaurant so you would expect nice food. Well they need to use their microwave less in the their kitchen. The wait staff here are really nice and friendly. Be ready to wait for your food here.
The food at this place has REALLY gone downhill in the last year. The fried chicken sandwich used to be the best in town. I ordered it tonight and it came on what honestly looked like a fast food bun. It wasn't particularly warm either. The chicken was dry and flavorless. It was $14. Look elsewhere folks
Its been a while but I was so happy they opened this unique mix of Southern and Pacific Northwest flavors and at one of my favorite buildings downtown. Since it has been quite a while and the menu is probably a littlw different now, I will tell you that the building it calls home has a rich history. The atmosphere is nice inside and outside if the you prefer. Its right of the Bay and its kick back and casual or great to dress up id you choose. We like that around Bellingham. I would suggest not wearing socks with sandals of any kind though. Just saying
The food is pricey but i really enjoyed the cheery atmosphere. Great place to bring out of towners to show off Bellinghams diversity.
Good food. To bad I didn't see the frog legs or gator on the menu, I love frog legs a might have tried the gator?
We earlier in the day for happy hour. Food was really delicious, had the mac n cheese and chicken tenders. Grown up flavor and good mix of seasonings. Chicken was moist and sauces were hardy. Drinks were a bit weak in my opinion but not enough to go down a star. Theres a reason its a popular spot downtown.
Delicious food, friendly service. The crawfish Po Boy was on special and tasted amazing.
Such a cute little place and the shrimp and sausage pasta is the thing to order!! I've never had pasta so good
Great southern comfort food. Reasonably priced, great servers, good drinks.
Awesome food, drinks and staff. Try the crab cakes:-)
Bartender was awesome, food was great and speedy, we had an uproariously good time. Watch out for the auto-added tip though.
Our weekly date spot. Yummy salads and unique foods for my husband. He love their alligator!
Environment was comfortable and the food was Bayou-like, a little heavy, but tasty. Portions were gracious. Service was nice, once we got seated. Highly recommend reservations.
Great food. Services was a little slow, but it was a Saturday night and they were busy.
I am from the south. Their food selection is good but it isn't rich nor spicy in flavor the way I'm used to Cajun food. They do have fried okra most of the time. Good service too.
My g/f and I had always had good food here. I m from the south and their Cajun cooking is spot-on, with the exception that they have some vegetarian/vegan options, which Cajun s typically do not! So, good choices all around for everyone!
Not too long ago we had a bad experience and I said as much in my review. But, kudos to Bayou for reaching out and making the effort to make things right. We recently went back with some friends and had a fantastic meal and some drinks from the bar. Everyone had something different some of us are vegans, some vegetarians, and some meat eaters. Again, something for everyone and everyone enjoyed the meal. BTW the Mac n Cheese is pretty stellar, but it s also very rich. We split it and that worked well for everyone.
If you like Cajun food, you will like Bayou. Good food. Good service, and management that cares to make sure you enjoy your experience.
