This place is a joke sometimes
There's long waits in the er and staff don't care about you. They forgot my father was even in the room and turned off the lights when he was there. Just unacceptable I'd rather drive to Christiana then go here for an emergency. The only positive thing going for this place is the delivery ward I had a good experience on that floor.

Thank you sincerely for the compassion and excellent care my sister(Rose Salter) was given on 4/11/2017.Dr.Christie Miller and the surgical team was awesome .I have never seen so many people at one time having surgery and the aftercare to each individual was impressive. I only hope I get the same nurse who cared for my sister and that her name was clearer on the paper so I could tell you who she was. My sister thinks the world of you Dr. Miller .She said you were so kind to her. Thank you Dr. Christie Miller for an awesome job!!!!!!!!!

A fine place to have all medical care services and be treated with respect.

Worst hospital ever. Waited for 6 hours with my 4 year old and newborn in the dirty waiting room. There was people throwing up everywhere. There was throw up in the bathroom sink. Food all in the kids part of the waiting room, dirt and grime in the vending machine area. Not where I want to bring a toddler who's battling an infection or a newborn. I had to leave at 3am after waiting for 6 hours. There was a 2 hour timeframe where they called no one back. They said there was no beds. The ER wasn't really busy. I don't know what was going on. My daughter never got seen. A guy was brought in by ambulance after he was in a car wreck! He came a half hour before me and they had him waiting in the waiting room with neck pain, &a he had just had surgery on his neck 2 years prior. It was a bad experience. I should have drove the extra 25 mins to the new Middletown Christiana ER. I would have been in and out of there in no time. And its 1000x cleaner. I would never recommend.

ER more like better hope you don t need urgent care. There is no urgent care here. If you read my obituary next week this hospital killed me by not seeing me in over 5 hours.

Edit and update: They finally took me back after I nearly passed out because I could not take full breath.

This was after midnight, I'd arrived around 6 pm.

Multiple times during my stay the "paperwork" on my situation got confused and they came to draw blood extra times. Keep in mind I'm dehydrated so this was very painful.

A nurse misunderstood the response from another department about a test and told me it was delayed 4 hours (it wasn't) and that there was nothing she could do as I cried because it was going on over 24 hours with no fluid intake and no saline drip and I wasn't allowed water even (I'd just throw it up)

I finally got iv fluids at 7pm the day after checking in. When I hadn't kept down water or had any for over 24 hours.

This is truly the worst experience I've ever had in an ER.

I can't blame the staff there, as there had to be about 3 total to deal with all 40 rooms each shift. I blame whoever budgets and schedules for the ER. We literally have the longest wait times in the country. If you can wait for a walk in clinic, and aren't going to die from asphyxiation, I'd suggest going there instead.

The departments other than the Emergency Department are fine. They just do not have enough people in the Emergency Department, and the number crunchers doing that do not care.

I wouldn't recommend Bayhealth to anyone who has to deal with cancer or any serious conditions. Take your loved ones to Christiana or up to Penn. Bayhealth doctors and nurses gave my fiance chemo when he was malnourished and weak. They gave him chemo even though they knew he couldn't eat one meal. The communication was terrible. I was listed as his spokesperson and they did not communicate with me once

Spanning 30 years and 20 plus admissions with various members of our family this hospital consistently provides sub-standard care, nursing is understaffed, overworked and quality of patient care suffers. Hospitalists are incompetent, and social services could not be more disinterested.

On October 23rd of 2017, I was admitted to Kent General on an emergency basis and spent the following 12 days in their care for a life threatening condition. Over the next 7 months, I went many times to this hospital for testing and diagnostics. After months of preparation, I was again admitted to Kent General on May 23 of 2018....this time for (elective) major surgery. I'm in the final stages of my recovery now and can't say enough to commend the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of this facility for their Kind, Compassionate and Professional Care. I was treated with the utmost respect and empathy at all times by all my care givers and hospital staff members.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to my friends or relatives.

Very good Doctors. The nursing staff treated my mom very well everytime she was admitted. The actually found out what was wrong with my mom when 2 other hospitals didn't.

I would like to say that my Wife Matilda Scott was brought their by her sister Teresa James on Christmas Eve as we entered we were well greeted by two Security Officers as well as the the two young ladies working at the emergency window in less than 5 minutes she was admitted placed in a wheelchair and whisk away with in 1.5 hours they took her through all procedures including the MRI and placed in a room you see my wife had suffered a mini Stroke and everyone made her feel like the Queen she truly is to me that her mini stroke didn t go Major Hats off to each of the staff members that we came in contact with for giving me the Best Christmas Gift Ever my Wife back on Christmas Day Happy New Year to all

JUNE 4TH 2019 i was at home dealing with serious pain in Chest & stomach i fell and hits floor called Ambulance they took me to Killer Kent General took my blood work and mad me sit waiting room after taking Ambulance here and i sit in serve pain haven't heard or seen no doctors or got anything for pain this is the worst Hospital and don't recommend it to anynoe

I do not recommend this hospital to anyone.....last 10 days....experienced Kent, Milford and Beebe.....Beebe won.......maybe because they think a patient might be important.....Rehoboth area is little Washington, D.C.....ER nurses were not nice at Kent.....ER nurse at Milford incompetent.....Beebe ER was the best of the 3

Great patient service and staff was superb staff. ER staff were hard working during these difficult times, and still never loose site of the needs of every patient. Always a quick response on the call button. Would highly recommend this Medical Center to anyone.

My husband took me to the ER with chest pains .The ER did not keep me waiting .I got up to a room which was ok .one of the nursing assistant was rude and made me feel
I was Wasting her time .Nobody seemed to check on me for it seemed along time .

They were great to me! They showed me love,respect, tolerance n patience during my L&D..especially a nurse called Julie..gush she was the best ..Bayhealth anyday!

This is the worst hospital to go to. The ER is the WORST. They will tell you you're next for hours but will call others that came in after u first. Even if u have insurance. I went twice, for myself and for my baby. I ended up leaving both times after a 6 hour wait and went to another hospital. I mom went for very bad pains on her back and shoulder any of she was there from 6pm and didn't leave until 6 the next day. She didn't go back to see the Dr until 330 am. THE WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!!!

Longest wait time, Delaware has 2nd worst E.R's in the U.S. Been here 3 1/2 hours so far with chest pains and still in waiting room.

The quality of healthcare at this hospital is not the best. They don't seem to know what they are doing. Better off going to Christiana Hospital.

Nobody wants to be sick or hurt but if it happens CCCHS I is the place to go. Best care avail with excellent nursing staff and, if you avoid hospital because of hospital food, then go to CCCHS that actually cook!

I went one time, had decent care. Since them I have been billed for incidents that were not even mine! I've told them several times that it wasn't me and I wasn't even in the state - and they refuse to take the charge down. It's affecting my credit.

Our labor and delivery nurses were TOP NOTCH! We had the best experience we possibly could have had because the nurses were so helpful and informative. I can only remember a few names so I would just like to mention Victoria from the fifth floor along with Chona and Bianca from the sixth floor. Thanks again ladies!

Mised diagnosing a blood clot and almost killed me. But what do I have to show for it a 32,000 bill

Bayhealth Medical Center, Milford DE does not care about your time AND after reading the very poor reviews on they re facilities around the state, my complaint is confirmed.
Had an appointment for a simple CDL physical that kept me here 2 HOURS!!!! I ve been getting this physical for over 20 years and it takes less than 45 minutes everywhere else I ve gone.
This is my first and LAST time bringing my business to Bayhealth Midical Center. I have complained about how long we been here to the folks at this facility. They have apologized. But what will change? We deserve better everyone!

Stole my ID, headphones, phone charger and $17 cash while I was in ER.

Believe the reviews . I went to the ER last night for heart problems . They checked my vitals right away than about 10 minutes later they did x-rays Than literally had me waiting in the waiting room from 5 to 10:15 and I just left . Never have I ever waited in a waiting room for 5 hours . It was just ridiculous and I'm sure there was others who was in waiting longer than me while the staff just say around and ate pizza.

I can t speak for the entire hospital, but the emergency room needs some extreme intervention. I came in with flu like symptoms, and usually I d just wait it out, but I couldn t keep down an ounce of water for 24+ hours. I got there, they immediately took vitals/lab work, was sent out to waiting room.
We waited from 4:30am-10am, and after going to the front desk asking how long it would be and telling them I m severely dehydrated.. they just said we re not sure when.. we left. We then went to an urgent care who said they were not equipped for lab work and sent us back to the ER. We waited another 5 hours. At this point, husband was disgusted, I couldn t handle lying in a waiting room any longer and wanted my bed. We left, again. I ve lived in a few different states and been to many different hospitals and NEVER have we waited more than an hour or two. Best part is I developed bronchitis and broke a rib because I refused to go back to a doctor after what a horrible experience I had. I also got a bill for $520..... for not being seen. This place should be shut down.

I gave birth here by way of C-Section in February 2020. The staff that helped get me ready for my delivery were very good. Because I had a c-section I had to stay for 3 days. The cafeteria is by far the worst I have ever experienced (I had 2 prior c-sections). They wouldn t answer the phone half the time when I would call to order food. When I ordered a omelette for breakfast they used cubes of cheese that for obvious reasons weren t melted . I ask for a BLT and they said they don t make those so I ask for bacon toast lettuce and tomato and they sent it up . The meals were not good at all.

The only people who like this hospital, apparently with few exceptions, are women who had uncomplicated deliveries here. Overall bad staff attitudes, and Dr.'s who are on staff here are generally 2nd rate. ER has a nasty attitude, as people have said.
A few good doctors here and there; overall quality of medical care in Dover and most areas of south Delaware is poor. Just get medically stabilized if need be, and then go to proper academically oriented hospitals in Penna or Maryland.

Had the absolute worst experience here giving birth to my son. After making a complaint and continuously calling and talking to people, i have yet to get back any real feedback. My son is now 9 months and i have yet to get my complaint handled. I will absolutely never go back here again, especially not to give birth.

Staff were great in the hospital.....but the business office Is the worst....how they sleep at night I will never understand....

Not a good place to go if you are having an asthma attack. No rush to administer a breathing treatment.

Stay away from the ER. Doctor was pretentious and unprofessional. Did not treat effectively. Go to Milford ER or upstate.

This is the worse hospital ever. I waited for 9 hours and the freaking doctor dismissed how I felt because I m young and appear healthy . It s so dangerous for them to feel this way smh. I literally was in the back for 10 mins and then discharged. A waste of time and insurance, I still feel terrible and that was 5 days ago. The wait is the worse, people came in sick and left sick because the wait was atrocious. This hospital needs to shut down or get new management.

Always treated with the upmost respect here. I understand the long waits suck, but this is a very busy hospital. I appreciate what these employees do, not just for me, but all their patients. Keep up the good work and thank you for everything! I've been here 5 times in 3 years and always left in a better position than I came in.

My brother Jorge was treated nice. The staff was outstanding. The food was good & the rooms were clean. He had a private room.

I had to wait 4 hours to be seen in the ER - There were only a few other patients. Desk clerks were rude. Doctor was nice, but kept me waiting an additional 20 minutes while she printed a prescription on to a piece of paper...after moving on to the next patient first. Oh, and stopping to joke with the rude desk clerks.
4 hours to be seen, 20 minutes to print an Rx.

It's just a great place!!

Terrible experience I am from New Jersey and the wait there is never more than an hour. Moved to Delaware never seen a more disorganized emergency room! Waited 8 hours and still never got admitted so I just left. completely disgusted.

Had to go in today for a massive kidney stone. They treated me SO WELL and were able to get me in for surgery within a couple hours of being there. The nurses and the doctors I had today were amazing!! I am so grateful!!

Love this place would rather drive 1 hour & 30 minutes to come here than to go to any other hospital closer. Friendly staff excellent doctors.
My last 2 kids were born here

Came in an ambulance blood pressure sky high ended up in the waiting room over 6 hours!!!! Lady came out and said there was a ton of beds open but only 2 drs on call. So instead of giving us all beds they flooded the waiting room until there was no seats for anyone.

Sat in the waiting room for over 6 hours, got little to no answers as to when I would be seen or how long the wait would be just for them to tell me that there was nothing they could do for me.

I really dislike leaving negative comments about anything. However, this is a must.
My infant was sent here by ambulance. She had stopped breathing for a brief moment. She had spit up blood from coughing so much. I was sitting in the emergency waiting area for 3 hours before asking how much longer. 30 mins later I was informed there were 11 more people ahead of us and no rooms available. I hope to God I don t need to ever go back here. If I was dying, I would crawl/ roll on the ground and look for the nearest exit out of there.
The staff was nice when they took our information. That s the one positive thing I can say about them. AVOID!! Drive the extra distance.

My father was brought in by ambulance for possible broken hip we have been here for 3 hours, no pain meds, seen the nurse once, were informed they only keep one Dr on staff at this hour, I just had to dig a urinal out if a drawer so he could urinate, .... It's been this way since I was a small child and I'm 50... We used to pack bags to come here with food and drink and such so the 12 hour adventure ... Stop building fancy new buildings and put more staff on board !!!

My wife has cancer and gets the best treatment from bayhealth. Friendly staff, and treats you well. Makes you feel at home... good job bayhealth!

This hospital is ridiculous I brought my daughter here twice all for them to have us wait for ever. I decided to take her else where. They triage super fast but have you wait in the waiting room forever. Staff is absolutely inattentive. No one seems to know nothing about anything. It s not even worth one star.

OMG!!! I'm visiting from out of state and husband had an infected foot, plus hesh diabetic. We we're here for 3 hours and stikk hadn't even seen the ER doctor yet. Foot oozing pus and all. We just checked out, and trying to find another facility. IveI never in all my years seen it take that long to even meet the doctor. Man came in class asking questions without even introducing himself. Didn't know if he was a doctor or the cleaning guy!!!! Please done go here if you're in the need of emergency care!!

I delivered my babygirl here! The staff was amazing, caring, and alert! They made sure we didn t need for anything before, during, and after labor. I will be back in the future.

This is less of a review and more of a fyi. The ER wait is so long because there are people in the ER who are dying and are the ones who really need the care then and there. If your kid is sick or even if you cut a finger off that's not going to be fatal, you can drive over to a walk-in clinic for that.

It's a terrible emergency room. Sitting in here for 9 hours now. 5 of them just waiting for a hospital room so my wife can get out of the emergency room. It's a shame that people waiting to get into the emergency room can't because the hospital has no beds to get people OUT of the emergency room...
Even if it takes a few hours to get there, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Went in by ambulance 2 weeks ago and was seen immediately. Was a little frustrated cause my care was held up cause the radiologist didn't seem to know how to use the arm to the camera. Apart from that it was a good visit.

I have been to both Smyrna and Dover and got great treatment and awesome staff... thank you

Absolutely one of the worst Hospitals I have ever been to. I sprained my back getting ready for work, and the driver of the ambulance took me as it was a closer hospital. They took my information but never helped me. No medication to ease my pain, no x-rays, nothing. My wife also noticed all the nurses spending time on their computers instead of focusing on their jobs. This establishment should be forever closed and all employees fired. They are everything the Geneva convention would never approve

Have been coming here my entire life. People need to understand they are at er not the ritz carlton tgete job is savd lives and sometimes someone else takes priority and your gonna wait. Ive witnessed very little of the incompetence people speak of and its on a individual basis not the hospital in general. Im respectful and i recieved respect in return. And the thing to remember is that these nurses are dealing with multiple patients not just you

Everytime I come to Kent General it's an absolute nightmare. Never seen a more incompetent group of nurses/doctors in my life. Was just there with my father last night just to get bloodwork done and we sat in the waiting room for about 8+ hours and still had no results. They refused to give us the results until they had a room available and couldn't even give us a timeframe on when that would be. We ended up having to leave because it was so late. If you have to go the hospital your best bet is to avoid Kent General at all costs.

Still run by a bunch of clowns ..my mother was in a car accident so I called to get info they transferred me 3 time and then told me to call back in 5 min.....very unprofessional....

Don't get surgery unless you want mrsa. And don't try to get a copy of the medical records to review so that you know what questions to ask because you will never get them

STAY AWAY FROM THIS EMERGENCY ROOM AND HOSPITAL..Took my daughter there they make you wait over 12 hours. Very unprofessional and I see why their called Killer Kent I took my daughter in last night, it s 8 am she still hasn t been seen,charge nurse called her stable she just walked out after sitting all night vomiting, diarrhea in very much pain and I will SUE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO MY DAUGHTER..SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN.... we lost too many here...

I was admitted twice this year for pulmonary edema. The nurses took good care of me and the doctors were very caring as well. I have no complaints whatsoever.

We have been to Bay Health numerous times, and usually found it a decent hospital. Today we went to visit a friend on the third floor, and his room was filthy, and the trash can was way overfilled, rubbish on the floor. Based on our visit today, I would not want to be a patient here.

If it's not a life or death situation, stay at home, and call your doctor in the morning.

I pee in a cup and they check my TB bump. All goes well.

If you want immediate attention, arrive in an ambulance!! I walked into the ER, waited 5 hours, walked out. I arrived in an ambulance and received immediate attention!! The doctor(s) were prepared and waiting for me in the ER thanks to the SUPERIOR COMMUNICATIONS between the paramedics and Bayhealth staff. As for rest of my stay, it was pleasant..All nurses and staff in my unit, on my floor, were extremely kind, thoughtful, and definitely knew their craft. And I give praise as they saved my life...literally...massive coronary. If I hadn't arrived in an ambulance would it all have gone so well??? I tend to think yes and hope I am right...

Facility looked nice, individual tv with personal speaker, you get to choose meal menu.
Didn t look bad at all.

Parking was free also.

I am seating in the ER for 5 hours , have not been seen once by a doctor. I had to speak to the charge nurse over an hour ago!!! And was told rooms are opening up I asked for a nurse 5 times because I am suffering from my first attack of vertigo and I have now seen a number of people come in and get seen that arrived after me .!! I will be calling FOX news and Action news after my visit this is ridiculous. People come to the ER as a last result because we need help from the professionals and we are treated like mice in a field rather than patients but I m sure I will get the bill in 2 weeks from today .

The worst experience ever if you not dead an don t want to die waiting or die cause of your ailments then just drive the complete opposite direction of this place they live up to the name killer Kent for a reason you wait for hours then it s nurses sitting at the desk eating an there s nurses sitting in the back talking an laughing or on the phone texting or on the computer doing nothing been here for 4 hours an if the person if we didn t wait as long as we are I would have left .

All the staff were very caring, helpful and friendly. My Father s nurse was wonderful! Very responsive and monitored him very well. I highly recommend this Hospital to anyone with emergency cardiac issues.

The pre-op nurses are angels, period. I was a mess and they managed to get a smile on my face. Dr. Vallarosa is a saint; he has to be; he operated on me; and I have absolutely no pain threshold and I never shut up with all the questions. A Saint I am saying for the record. Oh, I forgot. He saved my life.

I ve been to Camden , and Lourdes hospitals in NJ and I can say this place is a palace. Great size room for icu , friendly staff and good food. Thank you for the hard work on my ma

It's always a long wait even after you have been attended I've been told by people that worked in there that when when someone is suspected to die they let them die if they're organ donors or if they feel that person has no health insurance and they don't make any money they will let that person die this is not a lie I was told this by three different people that worked there Don't come here with a real emergency unless you have no other choice I'm having heart problems I went to the hospital and was told that I have nothing wrong with my heart I went to my personal doctor after that and he said other wise you can't trust this place they are not there to save lives they are there to make money.thats it

This hospital told me my brother was discharged at 10 pm at night after I called them and instead of being discharged I found out the transferred him! They don't think to tell the family who Jess been worried sick about him all night trying to find him that they transferred him???! This hospital is the worse hospital ever! They need to get shut down or get employees that actually care about their job?

Praise L&D. I loved all my nurses and Dr.'s that helped me with the birth of my son. I will definitely be having my second child at KGH.

The worst hospital I have ever been too ..i see why people say it worth the drive to go to Christina Hospital... 7 hours in waiting room and as of this post ..we are still waiting ..trust me drive to Christina Hospital I'll still be here waiting I'm sure ..

I have recently needed the services offered at Bayhealth/Lent General Hospital. I don't understand why this hospital gets such a negative review. I am a former employee of a well known Philadelphia hospital and I have found the level of service, networking and over all patient care given at Kent General far surpasses the care that I have received in any other hospital. I would like to say thank you to the dedicated doctors, nursing staff, and support staff for taking such good care of me.

All the negative comments are true. My 6yo son's pediatrician advised me to take him to the emergency room for severe vomiting (26 times in 24 hours). I signed him in at 9:30 am. Had to sit in that disgustingly sticky, stained, stinky waiting area for 2 1/2 hours with my son still throwing up. The entire wait time i sat in the children's chairs because there were made of wood and I've heard rumors of bedbugs being in the cushioned chairs(but i was too afraid to check for myself). Then we were takento another waiting room in the back with 4 other people. After the recent multi-million dollar renovations the service is far worse than it used to be because they still did not have any beds available. The doctor saw my son and another adult male in a hallway. Employees were walking thru while the doctor talked to us and the other patient. There was absolutely no privacy. I learned that the other patient previously had stage 3 cancer and 2 back surgeries just from listening to the doctors conversation with him. I have no business knowing this information. This hospital disappointed and disgusted me today. I will drive an hour to another hospital for emergency services in the future. This place is the worst I've ever experienced!!!

There needs to be a zero rating. This staff was pleasant but so incredibly incompetent that it's not funny.

My mother who is 90 years old,went to the emergency room,because she had a allergic reaction to a bee sting,she was there from 9:30pm until 5:20am and just being seen,she is diabetic and has high blood pressure, no one cared to assist her this hospital is the worest

Personal items stolen while in ER. Gave me incorrect or no life saving medications as prescribed in my prior doctor s chart.

This place is horrible I wait three hours in the emergency room with abdominal pain and still didn't get to see a doctor I hate going to this place

I was there for a procedure. Everyone was GREAT from start to finish.
