I love coming to visit the Blessed Mother in her national shrine. There are numerous places to pray and there are frequent masses. I love the architecture and all the attention to detail in so many pieces of art. This is probably the most beautiful church in the U.S. In the words of Pope Francis, "no one has the right to be an orphan", come and visit your mom in her favorite church.
This is a magnificent shrine. Wish I had more time to explore it on a normal day with less restrictions (due to covid), still I felt an overwhelming peace within my heart and soul while visiting this Basilica. Will surely visit again.
Beautiful place of worship. They also allow non Christians or just non Catholics to observe the service without participating. So if you're curious about the faith, you can get a good visual of the worship service.
My favorite place to contemplate life and all its ups and downs. The smaller chapels downstairs are the best places for private meditation sessions. Great places for private cries and victory celebrations.
Beatiful place. The architecture is breathtaking. I didn t have a chance to go inside. It s a definite must-see.
The Basilica of the Imacilate Conception is simply beautiful.
So what s inside the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate?
1. Beautiful place of worship.
2. It has different chapels inside.
3. It is an elegant architectural edifice that is open to the public from 7am to 7pm.
4. It sparkles in radiant golds and colorful mosaics tiles.
Very beautiful! A must see ! So many things to look at. And the mass is wonderful.
I went to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral many, many years ago and I felt the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary is with me! It is one of the most beautiful churches I ever been including the Cathedrals In France, Italy, New York and St Francis of Assisi, Our Lady of Lourdes and many more Cathedral here in the US and Phil.
Very big! Lots of free parking. Gift shop. Cafeteria. So much to see on beautiful grounds.
One of Washington, DC's most beautiful historic treasures. A must see, especially the newly finished dome with images of some of the saints. Great place to have lunch and pick ups some serene spiritualism and or quiet solitude. There is an outside garden with a sculpture if our lady of Fatima and mosaics of the rosary mysteries. Very moving.
It is a good place to give the Lord a good family day
PLEASE GO FOR THE GUIDED TOUR! After all it's free so what do you have to loose. They will walk you through each chapel and give you the history of that section. There are 2 levels open to the public and in September they let you go up the bell tower. The over all architectural style is Byzantine.
Spectacular beyond description, and very different from the National Cathedral. Beautiful artwork, windows and mosaics, and a LOT of them. You wl be here longer than you realize. With planning to get here no matter how you do it.
The Other 'Cathedral' in Washington, DC.
Religion, yes, but so much more: art, beauty, history, architecture, sculpture and more.
Beautiful. Worthy of representing USA Catholic church.
My favorite place to go to Sunday Mass.. very quiet, love the choir.
One of the most beautiful churches not only in the United States but also in the world. The underground has a beautiful collection of religious icons. The interior of the church is even more beautiful and spacious. Oh Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
The National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC, is a favorite place for all Catholics who want to know the different invocations of Our Mother, The Blessed and Blessed always Virgin Mary. The National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC, is a favorite place for all Catholics who want to know the different invocations of Our Mother, The Blessed Virgin Mary.
What a beautiful church! We come here a few times a year, and always experience the same calm and peace every time. The surroundings are also very well maintained. A must see, even if you're not a catholic..
Beautiful place. I took my Dad there in 2012. Glad we went by. There was not much going on at the time, which made walking around easy and peaceful.
Not a religious person, but great Mass! Also amazing place. You should go!
It was a great experience. Such a beatiful and magic place dedicate to sacred believes. It really make you feel the power of divinity expressed from humans. The closest concept to what a cristian-mary temple could be...I almost convert just by walking it..but the tour just ended.
My favorite Jesus is the angry looking firey headed one that lives behind the altar here, so ridiculously absurd. That being said, this is a beautiful place to visit, lots of cool religious artwork and sculptures, as well as fantastic architecture throughout. Worth a visit no matter where you fall on the religious spectrum.
One of the most inspiring churches in North America. Truly a national treasure. A great example of how architecture and art help asist in our contemplation and worship of God
A magnificent Catholic Church. A place to pray, enjoy art, shop, and more. Worth a visit, especially for Mass on Sunday at 12pm.
I loved this place!
They have Masses at several times of the day.
There are Masses celebrated in English and Spanish.
I attended a 4:30p.m. Mass.
It was the feast day of St. Blaise too, the Priest knew that some people may like to rush off after the Mass, so he concluded the Mass first and then asked people who wanted the blessing to wait after the Mass.
I had never experienced any special blessing on the feast day of St. Blaise, so I waited behind.
Offertory was done in a distinctive manner too. There were envelopes at the pews, you just had to pick one and put your offering inside while the Welcoming Ministers (Ushers) later came to collect them.
Bulletin was free.
the Church is soundproof which made attentiveness at Mass top-notch.
It is very easy to locate and a beauty to behold even in the dark.
located right beside it is the CATHOLIC university of America.

Was even grander than I expected. It is a national treasure
Breathtakingly beautiful cathedral. I attended an organ recital here. There are two organs and two sets of pipes in the cathedral on opposite ends of the nave, which allows for a unique stereo effect that is inspiring. Beautiful place.
It's never enough for your needs of learning, discovering, living at peace, and so on if you can be here only one time...
This church has this feeling of magnificence and all encompassing feeling, a must see if you are in Washington and Catholic
I have to say finally having a chance to walk by in the shroud of fog late Wednesday morning and it was experiencing inspiring to see. Something that I've only seen and heard about in words and pictures but now I've seen directly it is beautiful! As a Catholic that is definitely an experience to see from afar a place of such Beauty
It is a very spiritual place to meet intimately with the spirit
This is a spectacular place. The chapels are beautiful and interesting. I enjoyed the Crypt church and the Great Upper church, as well. The rosary walk and Mary gardens were nice. Great place!
Beautiful architecture. Great organ. Worth a visit.
My Savior meets me there. My soul finds so much Peace in this santuary.
Church is quiet and nice, except for photo maniacs of course taking pictures
Beautiful area and art! True place for peace, reflection, and prayer. Be sure to see Crypt Church.
The one of the most beautiful Church I have ever been in. Every time I walk view its original artwork, peaceful side chapels, and mini-museum exhibits, I have a spiritual revival. Every visit turned into a personal retreat experience and I never even had to talk workers or guides. Easily in my top 10 favorite places on earth. The only drawback is the huge crowds of people more interested in a spectacle or a tourist-like experience, but that's not the Shrine's fault.
Beautiful space. We attended a marvelous organ concert.
Beautiful place where the mind relaxes seeing so much velleza and peace
One of the best places to see beautiful art and experience peace!
Classic catholic pageantry. Very nice to look at and incredibly imposing.
The sheer size of this building is worth a visit.
The National Shrine which we grew up calling it. I've been going to since I was in my mama's womb! I grew up with people being nice to you in the sixties and seventies yes in Washington DC. It's so totally different people don't speak people are rude but they come to church with that same mentality. I wish people could go back to that Caring Heart that they used to have Once Upon a Time! The Basilica itself is a five-star! It's just the people in the world we live in nobody cares! Nobody smiles nobody says, excuse me, thank you, and please!
