Beautiful location, very practical for events, and a great representation for Austin 'uniqueness'.

I attended a culinary event at this amazing location and it really was an intersection of sophistication and tradition. The beauty of the past architecture was kept and then enhanced by contemporary design and thought. The access to both an outside and inside venue was a notable aspect especially in the culinary world where foods and drink have to be kept in a climate controlled environment.

Room for improvement: The place could use more restroom facilities near the 'outside venue' for ease of access. Also, improvement of walkways for both clients and hosts. People walking in expensive shoes in gravel doesnt mix well especially after a few glasses.

Went to a wedding there this weekend. Very poor service. Not well lit. Gravel walkways. The wedding was in a large warehouse type room. It was around 32 degrees outside. We came into the warehouse and sat ne to one of the 4 small heaters. 5 minutes later the heater went off. No one came over to turn it back on. Also, they left the double door open, and let all the heat out. We were blowing smoke, it was so cold. All they needed to do was have one of the employees to open and close like a bellman would. Then the dinner. Omg. Our poorly dressed waiter dropped a serving spoon on a dirty plate. He put the spoon back on to the plate he was serving. Food was served cold. No one came to check if anyone needed anything. Never ever go back

Despite Covid-19, Barr Mansion created a wonderful experience for our daughter, her new husband, and the eight of us in attendance. I cannot say enough for how great the staff was at enforcing the state's restrictions while still making the wedding beautiful and as comfortable as we could be, even in 98 degree heat. We highly recommend Barr Mansion and are looking forward to returning next year for the reception.

I was there for a wedding. It was an extremely warm Saturday afternoon & the ceremony was outside. They offered us a glass of water, but waiting 45min in the sun required more than one glass of water. They didn't seem to have restrooms available until after the ceremony. I had to beg to use the facilities. It's a pretty area, just not comfortable for outdoor weddings in 90* weather.

Beautiful/magical venue with lawn, music, and great food that rotates month to month based on local interest and customer feedback. I had two different kinds of pizza myself. They support local musicians (who were good and definitely set a nice laid back mood). Very nice owner, wait staff, and bar as well. Outdoor seating available covered and uncovered. Can bring your dog, too.

I booked Barr mansion for my wedding end of July. We also paid for the upgraded coordinator package. My husband and I loved the look of the venue and the initial wedding planner we had. We choose to pay the extra hundreds of dollars because we truly trusted and loved our wedding planner, less than a month before the wedding she was fired by the venue and we were appointed a new coordinator. The venue never apologized for this abrupt switch and the new coordinator would go up to 4 days without responding and we had to go over all the same information we already went over a second time. The long wait for responses happened multiple times throughout that last month which left us frustrated and trying to answer questions on our own. On the actual wedding day the venue and planner did good working with me and making the day go smooth. Another huge problem we had with the venue is they do not give any leftovers. We paid over $100 for each plate and due to covid about half of our guests did not show up and we never were offered the leftover food even though we paid for it. Our wedding cake was also the completely wrong design. Being incredibly upset over the situation I called the owner and she offered us a half refund on the cake and said she would look over our invoice and she what else she could do. For a couple weeks we played phone tag and she ended up never calling me back. The venue also cashed our check and we never got the partial refund on the cake we agreed on. Overall this venue is gorgeous but the management will overcharge you and not care if you get what you paid for or not.

From the minute we walked onto the beautiful grounds of Barr Mansion during our first site visit, we knew that we had found our dream wedding venue. Barr Mansion is made up of everything that Austin has to offer: endless beauty, wonder, romance, and rustic charm. The venue consists of an 18th century artisan ballroom, a farmstead hewn with Texas timber, a vintage Victorian mansion, and 29,000 sq ft of gorgeous greenery. Fun fact: Barr Mansion is the first USDA certified organic farm-to-table event space in the country. You guessed it, it's heaven on earth!

Becki, our sales manager at Barr Mansion was so warm, accommodating, and welcoming during the initial planning phases of our wedding. As a same sex couple, we were a little apprehensive with how wedding venues would receive us. However, Becki and team welcomed us (without an ounce of hesitation) with nothing but love, excitement, and open arms! Becki introduced us to Cori, their wedding coordination manager, and we hit it off instantly. Cori is as wonderful, charismatic, and authentic as they come. She is genuinely so enthusiastic with helping you plan the wedding of your dreams! When it comes to the MANY stressors of planning a wedding, Cori brings a calm and confident presence that is absolutely vital to have on your team. Cori is well organized, takes great pride in her profession, and is incredibly gifted in her craft. During our first meeting, Cori asked us what our ideal wedding would look like. We told her what we had envisioned and she was critical with helping us plan and bring our thoughts and ideas to life.

Our wedding on 2.2.2020 was everything we could have imagined and more!!! It was pure MAGIC! From the amazing weather, gorgeous grounds, the breathtaking decor and beautiful flowers, we were simply captivated by how incredibly perfect it all turned out! During our wedding, I had to pinch myself and ask if I was in a dream! It felt like a real life fairy tale and we were all floating in the clouds. And the food! Executive chef Jessie and team knocked it out of the ballpark with our menu, and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious everything was. That spiced apple cake and tres leches desserts, WOW! From our coordinator Cori, to the chef/kitchen, to the servers, to the bartenders, to even the security team, the service during our entire wedding was OUTSTANDING.

We would recommend Barr Mansion over and over again!! Our only regret is that we can not get married at Barr Mansion over and over again. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU Barr Mansion for making TWO BRIDES wedding dreams come true!!! XO

I was the Maid of Honor in my best friends wedding...

I was the Maid of Honor in my best friends wedding in August, and I cannot express enough how amazing our experience was. Cori Teague was our wedding planner, and she did more than we could have ever asked for. Not only was she on top of everything, she treated us like she was part of the friend group. From start to finish she was there for anything that we needed. Ask for Cori if you decide to get married here!

On top of all that, the venue is hands down the most beautiful in Austin. The different spaces that we utilized for each part of the day made it seem like we were in our own wedding world. The staff was quick to react to anything that happened, and they were all very professional.

THE FOOD! the food was the best wedding food I have ever had. They fed us, and fed us well..

I speak for everyone at the wedding when I say you HAVE to book Barr Mansion.

We are a local string quartet that has performed at Bar Mansion several times this year and is booked for this location for 2020. One of our favorite places to perform! Beautiful site, great staff and wonderful acoustics. Highly recommend!

We just got married here last night. I really cant express how happy I am with everything the staff did for us. My wife was so exstatic with everything. She was stressed with everything and worried but from the minute she arrived it was alleviated. All smiles. The venue is gorgeous. The food.....let me tell you....amazing. The staff were just absolutely on top of everything. Molly, our coordinator, was just so unbelievably awesome. I have been to many many marriages while I was in the military and out and Molly blows any one Ive ever seen out of the water. If you want to get hitched at a beutiful venue with staff that will take all the stress off of your shoulders then do yourself a favor. Get married here. The most important thing about getting married is that your wife is smiles from ear to ear from start to finish. Kaitlyn was breathtaking and glowing and, although, she is stunning all the time, that smile couldnt have been bigger and I owe that to Barr Mansion, Molly, and the staff! Get married here!

P.S. Perry Photography are equally as amazing! Wonderful couple who do amazing work with ease

Our daughter and son-in-law were married at Barr M...

Our daughter and son-in-law were married at Barr Mansion on October 3, 2015. The planning went well, the venue was beautiful, the food was excellent. However, the locked mansion was broken into during the reception and thousands of dollars worth of gifts and personal time were stolen from the bride and groom, and bridal party. This might be over looked as an unfortunate incident but we have learned that an an identical theft occurred less than 30 days ago. Certainly the owner and planner had an obligation to disclose this information to us. Some items taken were one of a kind with sentimental value and can never be replaced.

If you choose this venue plan wisely. Either hire security at your own cost or insist that the owner higher security to protect the mansion during the reception.

Our rating would have been 5 star but the owner's lack of concern for guests and their property left us no choice but to give it 1 star.

Absolutely stunning venue! We have been told over and over, "BEST wedding food ever tasted!" The bridal suite was lovely. The whole vibe was just great and the staff was easy to work with. The only criticism I will offer is the platoon lights (string lights) outside the glass ballroom need to be on dimmers. Definitely! They shone into the dance floor and disrupted the ambiance. Should be a simple fix. FYI new brides, I would ask about that. Otherwise, great job Barr Mansion! Lovely wedding day for us.

My clients just had a beautiful wedding at Barr Mansion! Cori, the event coordinator, was so easy to work with, helpful with our questions, and flexible! Jesse, the banquet manager, was a pleasure to work with day of and was so fast on his feet. As a wedding planner, it's so important and nice to work with folks who understand things aren't black and white, are flexible with last minute changes and can manage their team so efficiently! Thankful for a successful wedding at Barr Mansion! Such a gorgeous property!!!

Very nice venue. Attended a family wedding. Ceremony under tree, cocktail hour in a large enclosed space. Caterer could have had more high top tables in space, as well as places to dispose of toothpicks/napkins from passed hors d'oeuvres. Reception was held in the nice, rustic "barn." Food was excellent...from the passed hors d'oeuvres to the family style-served dinner of shrimp scampi, beef tenderloin, roasted garden vegetables and sweet potatoes. Good sized dancing area. Could use more bathrooms. Overall, a really nice venue and we had a great time!

Where do I even begin? As a wedding photographer this venue is just perfect to photograph! It has so many beautiful spots for photos that work well in any lighting situation. The food is also amazing! It is truly one of my top favorite venues in town. I also love that they have a really good option for a "rain plan". Austin weather could be unpredictable during spring/fall, so Barr Mansion really does stands out with their beautiful indoor options.

Our June 23 wedding at Barr Mansion was above and beyond our wildest dreams! When beginning the venue search, we were looking for something peaceful, romantic, garden-like and just all around lovely. From the moment we stepped foot on the property, we knew that it was something special! My hubby and I really loved the all-inclusive type of feel with Barr--food, venue, help, etc. Their list of preferred vendors was super helpful for filling in the gaps, especially since Barr Mansion has great relationships with them! The mansion and surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful, especially in the spring and summer months. Because we were married in the middle of summertime and had family coming in from Chicago, we opted to do the ceremony inside of the ballroom and have dinner in the farmstead, then back to the ballroom for dancing. Though it turned out to still be quite hot everywhere (103+!), it was the best night! From the incredibly delicious food to yummy Steel City Pops, to a beautiful setting and a surprise birthday cake for my hubby s Grandpa, everything was absolutely wonderful! The grounds, the staff, the chef--EVERYONE--is eager to help, attentive to whatever you may need and willing to go the extra mile to make it all happen. The VIP award, though, would definitely go to Heather Winnika. She is put together, thoughtful, and all around remarkable! Heather was a joy to work with and always made us feel like her priority. We are forever grateful for the kindness, expertise and dedication from everyone at Barr Mansion! Thank you all for making our wedding day the very best day!

My son and his wife were married here. From the initial meeting to the sparklers at the end, Barr Mansion helped make it a magical moment. It's such a beautiful setting - they were married under the large oak tree with a reception afterward in the ballroom - but the food was great and the staff was awesome.

An absolute dream! We looked at multiple venues in the Austin area prior to choosing Barr for our wedding and so glad we did as they exceeded all expectations. Margaret, our coordinator, was wonderful to work with and was very responsive and detail oriented. She kept everyone on schedule and felt like she "had my back" during the entire day to ensure everything ran seamlessly. We paid for the upgraded coordinator package and looking back was really happy with our decision as they took over communication with all eight of our vendors a month prior to the big day and alleviated so much extra stress and coordination details about timing, set up location, etc. We had our ceremony on the lawn, dinner in the Farmstead, and our band did a "parade" with our guests to the glass ballroom where we danced the night away. The grounds are kept beautifully and the staff was very professional. Our guests could not have been happier and am still getting texts and phone calls about how great everything was.10/10 recommend!

We had the most amazing experience with Barr Mansion! Our wedding was a dream and everything turned out just how we had hoped. I require a gluten free diet and they were beyond amazing in making sure everything was safe - even our wedding cake (it went so quickly the waiters could hardly bring out the plates fast enough!). The cherry on top was working with Cori as our coordinator. She is professional and knows her stuff. We trusted her completely and she went above and beyond to make everything go off without a hitch (if there was a hitch we weren't aware). She also recommended the most phenomenal vendors. It's been 7 months since the wedding and we are still floating from the experience and our family and friends always say how wonderful Barr was

For anyone considering Barr Mansion in Austin as an event venue (particularly for a wedding), please read this first.

While the venue was gorgeous, I am completely disappointed by how certain events at my sister's wedding were handled. We were promised that the house with the bride & groom's rooms would be completely LOCKED up following the ceremony and family photos, and would not be accessible to ANYONE until the night was over. Following dinner, my mom (mother of the bride) needed her jacket, so I asked an employee for access to the house to get her jacket. Unfortunately, what I found was that my purse, my mom's purse, the maid of honor's purse and several of the newlywed's presents had been stolen from the house because at least one of the windows to the house had NOT been locked and one or more persons trespassed an stole our belongings. They even took my sister's signed marriage license! Adding insult to injury, it has come to my attention that an IDENTICAL theft has occurred LESS THAN A MONTH before my sister's wedding. Sept 5, 2015 was the date of the incident I am now aware of, and my sisters wedding was Oct 3, 2015. Not a single person made an attempt to warn us ahead of time to hide our belongings, remove them from the house, or even just let us know that there had been a theft at the house less than a month before. Even after we discovered the theft, STILL no one made any mention that this had happened before. Everyone acted as if this was a complete fluke. I am shocked, disappointed, sad and angry that I had to miss the second half of my sister's wedding (memories that I can't ever have) due to a situation that SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. There should have been a warning to hide our belongings. Someone should have double checked the locks to the house. There should have been someone sitting in the house for security KNOWING that a theft had recently occurred. It's really inexcusable.

Barr Mansion will always hold a special place in my heart. We got married there a few years ago and recently had a romantic, private lunch to celebrate our anniversary there. The staff was accommodating and offered a delicious menu. They even surprised us with a few extras that made the day so memorable. Thank you!

We here at Say Cheese Photo Booths love working with Krystal and the gang at Barr Mansion! They take great care of their guests and are easy to work with as a vendor. Plus, it's just a great venue to have an event. :-)

Hey it's Raeanne from Auburn Rae Photography here. I love this venue. The mansion gives me all the vintage Victorian vibes, while the other areas have more of a modern vibe. It's the best of both worlds. Can't wait to shoot more weddings at this venue.

My wife and I were married here last April. It's a great venue and our coordinator was amazing. Everything went perfect. They did a great job of coordinating with our vendors and bundling their services can remove a lot of stress ( Wedding/Reception, plus they handle the food/cake and have tables/chairs/basic decorations already there).

This place is charming and delightful. The atmosphere is beautiful and there are thoughtful touches in decision everywhere. Loved the live music. Did not get to go inside much of anything, including the Mansion itself, but the glass exterior of the place serving the food was beautiful. I appreciated that they had mowed circles in the lawn to space people out and it was respected.

We had a wedding and reception for 300 here. I wouldn't recommend for a wedding over 100 because otherwise you have to rent tents, heaters or air conditioners, chandeliers, etc. - quite an additional expense. The food was delicious and served all at once but as soon as the bridal party and most guests moved into the hall for the first dances the workers started breaking down the tables and chairs. Guests who tried to go back to the tents to relax were told they couldn't and within 30 minutes there was nothing in the tents but stacked tables and chairs. All the table coverings, candle arrangements and flowers were stacked up on 2 tables. No tables or chairs were set up in the hall so guests who were not dancing had no place to sit. The waiters didn't collect glasses so there were used drink glasses all over. We bought champagne for guests to drink from the bar but it was brought out as a toast- we had not asked for that. The management never asked me after the wedding if I was happy with the venue or service, etc. they are very fast to accept the $5000 deposit but once the function is over they don't have anything else to do with you.

I work for a Fortune 15 company that recently held our leadership conference at Barr Mansion; the event was a huge success with raves about the beautiful venue, landscape, AND the food! Our program lasted from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and Barr Mansion provided the perfect backdrop for a day of engagement. The coordinators were incredible to work with, and made the planning experience way less stressful. I highly recommend using Barr Mansion for your upcoming event!

Absolutely stunning venue, and the wedding was beautiful, but that's about it.

I planned and attended my brothers wedding as a bridesmaid. Being In the wedding planning business, they are EXTREMELY unprofessional, overpriced, and a have a deceiving contract for new young couples.

Our "wedding coordinator" Cori for the venue was not helpful at all, and the few things she actually did, we're 80% half correct . She was almost impossible to get in touch with months prior, was very forgetful, gave very little support and answers and seemed be bothered by any questions. The entire execution from signing the contract up until the day of coordination was a headache. She was only to be found at the beginning of the ceremony and exit time. The food was decent, definitely not worth the price or "star" system that they use to con.

The most unprofessional and rude incident that happened was when the brides parents went to give the tip money to the coordinator to hand out to the few employees (very fair amount), was told that the tip - yes the tip wasn't enough?!..

Be prepared to spend alot of money, while doing everything yourself! Be sure to read the contract and understand what you're getting into, before you find yourself 10,000 over budget for necessary event needs.

This venue is not only absolutely stunning at every time of the year but the service is also outstanding.
We worked with Margaret Deal who is super attentive and was always there to help us through the planning process. Her attention to detail and awesome personality helped us have a stress free wedding planning and amazing wedding day.
Everything turned out even better than we could have imagined (even during COVID-19)
Food is also beautiful and delicious.

Barr Mansion is a breathtakingly beautiful space. I fell in love from photos online and when I pulled up to tour for the first time I almost cried pulling in the parking lot! I knew it was the place. Our sales contact Caroline was a dream to work with throughout the entire process, and happily answered any random questions we had. Our coordinator Aislinn was the absolute best and we couldn't have pulled it off without her! She was very attentive and really made sure our ceremony felt like "ours" and didn't bat an eye at any of our non-traditional ideas. I truly cherished having her help us pull it off seamlessly. The head chef was super accommodating, creating an absolutely decadent vegetarian menu. I had multiple come up to me that night (and even more since!) to tell me how incredible the food was.

The fact that Barr provides all tables, chairs, dinnerware, linens, staff, and more was a HUGE weight off my shoulders and about 10 less things I had to coordinate. Beyond the beauty of the place, a major selling point for me was the fact that my wedding party wouldn't be responsible for folding up tables at the end of the night! We had a perfect perfect day and I can't imagine us having spent it anywhere else.

Cool wedding venue with a rustic charm and indoor/outdoor offerings. The large yard is great for weddings under an enormous oak tree. Ivy lines most of the structures making everything seem perfectly balanced with its natural area. The indoor reception areas are smaller than the photos on the website make them seem, but they are still lovely areas that will make any couple happy. The food is solid and generously portioned. Overall a good spot for a wedding.

Barr Mansion was absolutely perfect! We picked out the venue when we were working out of state so we booked without visiting it. When we visited it for the first time we were so happy with our choice. The planning process was so easy and stress-free due to them providing the catering and furniture. We also felt at ease knowing that they do weddings all the time. They are truly wedding experts! The actual wedding day completely surpassed our expectations. It was more beautiful than we could have imagined! The staff was so friendly and treated my husband and I with so much attention and care making sure that we always had a drink in our hand, food if needed, and were comfortable. All of our guests complimented us on how amazing the wedding and venue were.

Choosing Barr Mansion for our wedding venue was one of the best decisions we could have made for our wedding day! They were very flexible and accommodating when we had to move our wedding day due to COVID. Not only is it a beautiful wedding venue but the staff are amazing to work with. Margaret our wedding coordinator went above and beyond. She met with us on multiple occasions, responded promptly to questions and worked hard day of to make sure everything went off without a hitch! So many of our wedding guests came up to me throughout the night commenting on how stunning the venue was. I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day! Thank you Barr Mansion and Margaret for making sure we had our dream wedding!

Beautiful venue delicious food but not worth the m...

Beautiful venue delicious food but not worth the money. Why? Ask the coordinator... Where do I start. She is scattered and seamed to be running around not knowing what to do next. At one point she was frantically looking for the groom and ran right passed him. And the attitude should be talked about as the groom, the mother of the groom, the bride and others who had interactions with her stated they did not like her. She's standoffish and has no regard for others. She doesn't know how to put herself in the brides shoes and does what she thinks she would like during the wedding and for decorating even though a decorator was hired separately and was on site. Which tells me she didn't take time to get to know the bride, the bride is not simple, but eclectic. Many people of the wedding party including parents were not pleased. She also forgot both party favors which were a very important part to the bride and groom even though she was asked twice if she could be helped with them. Both times she said no and to put them on the floor... Where they stayed. The assistant planner on the other hand needs a raise or promotion she was calm collected and very sweet. Everyone loved her and in the end shes the only one we wanted to deal with. Communication needs serious work won't be recommending to our future brides.

We were married at Barr Mansion last weekend. It w...

We were married at Barr Mansion last weekend. It was the first of more than a dozen venues we looked at, and it was honestly love at first sight. The mansion, ballroom, and the property as a whole, is totally gorgeous. Hannah was the only person in our venue search that took the time to sit down with us after the site tour and go over options and pricing in great detail. She is the one who earned our business.

We chose the pecan tree for our ceremony. We found comfort in the fact that if the April weather didn t cooperate, the rain plan was still very appealing. We planned everything from out-of-state, so it was awesome to have a venue that handled the day-of coordination, food, cakes, tables, chairs, linens and dinnerware in-house. We have fairly discerning tastes in beer and wine, so we enjoyed having the freedom to bring in our own alcohol.

We did, however, run into several behind-the-scenes issues. After Hannah s departure from her job at Barr, Rick informed us that he would be our new coordinator. Then, we were promptly reassigned to work with to Elyse instead, since our wedding was on a Sunday.

After the Elyse hand off, I e-mailed her and Rick to confirm the time of our rehearsal. Rick said our rehearsal would be held on Saturday, the day before our wedding (as it should be). Elyse e-mailed us the next day informing us that the rehearsal would have to be on Friday, since Saturday was booked all day with events. Since 85% of our guests were coming to Austin from out of town, moving the rehearsal to Friday would have caused major problems. We decided to call Rick (why wouldn t he call us?). After our chat, the rehearsal was on for Saturday, and we were assured everything would be fine despite all the transition.

One week later, we were informed that our day-of coordinator would be Nicole instead. Now working with a fourth person, all the small details we talked about with Hannah on day one had been completely lost. We feel we were handed off because we were having a smaller Sunday wedding small potatoes. The best news is that Miss Nicole totally saved the day.

She was in touch with us immediately and put two in-person planning meetings on the calendar when she knew we would be in town visiting. She did an awesome job of making sure all the small details were perfect. She even helped us get a custom cake flavor that was not on the tasting menu. (Even though Rick told us he would research it when we saw him at the harvest tasting, where we saw him drinking alcohol.)

We submitted our guest count two days before our contracted deadline, and when I asked to add our vendor meals the day before the final count was due, Rick wrote us saying that it was too late to add them. He suggested we call Jason s Deli to deliver food for them. We honestly thought he was kidding he wasn t. Luckily, the chef was able to add to our food order to accommodate the extra meals.

All things said and done, our day was amazing. We are still getting compliments on the gorgeous venue and the food. Nicole seriously worked her butt off to make sure everything was perfect. She kept the evening running smoothly, and made sure we were comfortable from the second we arrived until right before the send off. THANK YOU, NICOLE!!!

If you book an event at Barr, be extremely proactive about communication. Ensure that your deposits and payments are made on time. Double check the costs and payment due dates on your paperwork before you sign anything (our original contract said the final payment was due in April 2012 they meant to put 2013). Also, one of the restrooms was out of order on our day, so if you're ordering flowers for the bathrooms, confirm they are all working before you splurge! Based on our experience, you will likely be the one to confirm details, receipt of paperwork, deposits and payments.

No lie, we searched nearly every venue in Austin (and surrounding area) but once we saw Barr Mansion, we knew we'd found our location. Planning was easy and fun with Barr. The staff is great. The venue has SO MANY options to make your day perfect. Our guests told us all night how it was the most beautiful wedding venue. It didn't feel like the thing you tell the couple... they went out of their way to compliment Barr (venue vibes and food). On our actual wedding day, everything went off flawlessly. Getting married under the tree was magical, the food was delicious, and service provided was beyond anything we could have expected. Golden hour. Am I right?! I would highly highly recommend Barr Mansion. 10/10.
