Stunning views however the bedroom we had was small and the bed was against the wall in a corner so my wife had to climb over me if she went to the bathroom also should have signs on doors to the corridors for other guest to be quiet after a certain time so other guest could sleep as it was extremely noisy during the night.
Loved the food!!!!!! We booked for 10 people and when we got there they gave us our own room! I couldn't fault anything.
Fantastic place to stay, spectacular views and grounds. The staff service and food is amazing too, would definitely recommended
Excellent service and lovely staff excellent customer service polite and courteous staff lovely very good.
Lovely setting in Rutland although parts of the hotel could do with some modernisation. Nice pool, and small gym. A great location to stay at to discover the surrounding areas.
Excellent location and buildings on site. Great breakfast and very accommodating staff to make our stay special. :-)
Absolutely lovely as always. Friendly and helpful staff, terrific views and good food, what more could you ask for.
Very Nice rooms with full kitchen. Has a washer and dryer in one combo. Great amenities on site. However you do have to pay for hot water
I took 2 friend's for a game of lawn bowls. There are 3 rinks overlooking Rutland water. We spent 2 Hours there and had a wonderful time.
Just went for Sunday lunch, it was very nice and a great price. Would go again and the views across Rutland water are lovely.
Beautiful location. Clean. Bed mattress lumpy and uncomfortable. Restaurant service appalling. . Food not much better. Expected something a lot better considering the cost.
Amazing resort. Wonderful views, clean, friendly and professional staff. Spa and leisure services very enjoyable. Good quality food.
Setting over looking Rutland Water is beautiful.
The main building of the hotel is very grand, however the hotel rooms in the separate 60 s new build are decidedly less so. Small, tired rooms, that are noisy.
Little comfort in the rooms with old beds, and tired furniture & a small selection of tea/freeze dried coffee & no mini bar.
The bathrooms are more up to date, with a modern makeover.
There are nicer chalet style rooms over looking the water, but given the price we paid for such a small room, these are likely to be substantially more.
I feel the value for money here is out of sync with other hotels in this area/country and would expect the room we stayed in to be considerable less than what we paid.
Recently went to a wedding here. Service was very good and staff were lovely.
Disabled access is very very poor. The lift to the top function room rarely worked and there was only one key for this. Shocking if there is a fire and there are more than one individual requiring access. This needs to be replaced with a ramp.
No disabled toilet upstairs and the one down stairs is a joke. Once the wheelchair was inside the toilet my daughter couldn't move to get on the toilet.
Perfect. Lovely room with balcony view, very clean lovely views.
We stayed for a long weekend as a surprise for me. The room was cosy and clean and close to reception as I am disabled. The views from the hotel and restaurant are great and the food was good but not a great choice of evening meals but breakfast was brilliant. Look forward to staying again
Love this place. Room was amazing, dinner was exceptional. Although breakfast could have been better we were waiting over 10 mins for beans and bacon, complete shambles and it's a shame as until that point we really were impressed.
Set overlooking the stunning Rutland water the hotel a beautiful place to attend an event.
Venue and staff were very nice however the food was disappointing, no salad garnish with the prawn starter, no extra sauce for the main course came out and no Gravy for the hog roast sandwiches, roast pork served on those horrible frozen "soft salad baps" are very dry. They did redeem themselves on the breakfast which was surprisingly nice and quite hot. Plus the coffee was nice too.
Beautiful surroundings/location, lovely room, staff were all very friendly. But, spent an awful long time waiting for food to be replenished. eg Friday evenings carvery, potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy ran out. Whilst waiting for them to be replenished, the food already on our plates was getting cold. The same thing with Saturday/Sunday breakfast, waiting for eggs ( eggs were brought out six at a time when there was eight people waiting) and the same with hash browns. Saturday evening there was just one lad serving behind the bar, for eighty people, it was not fair on him, and grossly unfair on the guests. That said the food was good.
There were eighty people in our party and several other hotel guests. It was very irritating for everyone. I thought that kitchen should have been better equipped to deal with such a number.
Lovely relaxing weekend break..
Room lovely & clean,huge bathroom,tea making,iron & ironing board,hairdryer.
Spa facilities are great..Swimming pool,Sauna,Steam room etc..
Breakfast has everything you need and more evening meal & bar also good..
Fantastic spa with great leisure facilities topped off with very friendly and helpful staff and beautiful surroundings- will be visiting again
The hotel is situated on the edge of Rutland Water just outside the town of Oakham. My wife and I booked a two night stay with breakfast, in a standard double room, which although small was what were expecting. The breakfasts on both mornings were very enjoyable and served by friendly and helpful staff. As I suffer from Parkinson's Disease we asked for a ground floor room, which we had, also it was very quiet, The only thing we found unusual was there didn't appear to be access to Rutland Water from the hotel. We had to drive so consequently didn't return for an explanation.
Room are quite dated no fridge and facilities to get drinks once the bar is closed. Lovely views and staff breakfast was nice good range of food and drinks. Loved the spa area.
Beautiful place, great food & staff are great. Only let down are the beds which are too soft. Suggest tempur mattress for the future would ensure re-booking !
We have a wedding car hire company. I have done loads of weddings there. It's a lovely friendly place that has breath taking views and the staff will go out if there way to make your day something to remember.
Lovely hotel and stunning views. The restaurant however is a bit of a let down like fawlty towers, we had to wait almost forty minutes for a cooked breakfast every morning. Bar menu is better than the restaurant one too.
Very good value for money with excellent facilities. The pool is well heated and the staff are friendly. I would definitely recommend a stay. It's a shame we didn't come when the weather was a bit better to make full use of the environment
Have given up after 3 attempts to make a spa-day booking. 1st attempt - reponse ... "we will call you back after checking whether 16 year old daughter is allowed to join". No call back. 2nd attempt - reponse ... "we are too busy at the moment to help you; please call back later". 3rd attempt (today, 01st August 2018) - response ... "we are not taking any further bookings for August due to the school holidays; earliest available date will be in September". On request to be put through to Manager on Duty, phone was put down. On calling back again, was told Manager on Duty is not available to take call.
Wonderful location and facilities. Bar food okay but could be improved
We stayed in a Timeshare Appartment.
Friendly staff and the food was good.
Very good indoor swimming pool.
Rutland Water is a relaxing location
This is twice I've had to complain about this issue in as many months and no one seems to care!! Having a noisy leaf blower going off before 10am is just simply unacceptable.. We come here to relax, not to be rudely disturbed at this time!! I shall not too be returning..
Restaurant service fairly poor although food acceptable. The decor is tired, Formica topped tables (ours had a big chunk out of the surface) with no table cloth. Unused cutlery not removed by waiting staff, no serving spoons with vegetable side orders, very slow service, had to wait 50 minutes from ordering with no explanation or apology. Not great & would not recommend.
Came here for a wedding meal and a few drinks very nice place and great staff
We got married here 10 years ago and decided to go back for a night for our Anniversary. The Hotel and grounds are still as lovely as they were back then and the staff still as friendly and helpful. The current situation obviously meant a slightly different experience, but I have to say that I was impressed with how things have been set up in line with Covid guidelines, we felt very safe. The only reason that I have given four stars is because of the food. Overall the menu is varied and dishes are lovely, unless you're a Vegan. The Vegan stew was below par in comparison to other meals and there was not even a dairy free alternative to butter with Breakfast.
One word really .fantastic .staff brilliant great experience. beautiful views lovely place
Very nice place, staff are lovely and the views here are great too.
Good food and fantastic views. Restaurant lacks a bit of charm as modern so doesn t quite fit into the surroundings. You really are paying for the view!
Comfortable accommodation. Good food in the restaurant. Very convenient for Rutland Water. Needs WiFi throughout.
Visited this hotel because of an offer, on arrival we were treated as any other guests. Could not find fault with anything, room was clean with the usual facilities, dinner in the restaurant !! Tasty, good value and a comprehensive breakfast bar, superb. A place to return to.
Lovely relaxing day at the spa. Had a facial, and afternoon tea . Everything that was on offer was excellent and All the staff very helpful and friendly .
Could not wait to leave a glowing review for Barnsdale Hall Hotels Kyode Walker, such a friendly, professional spa manager. If you want to feel at ease in this current covid19 pandemic look no further. The measures in place are fab and Kyode makes you feel warm and welcome. Getting to the massage part of the visit. Rooms are well laid out and his passion for the job really shines. Would highly recommend. Another stay is definitely in order soon.
Great facilities. Restaurant is really good, but does serve small portions.
Fabulous stay over Christmas everything including the staff were brilliant
Fab location. Good food & Service. Reasonable prices, overlooking Rutland Water.
Lovely waterside location, great leisure facilities, walls between bedrooms rather thin.
Great setting on the side of Rutland Reservoir and simply excellent food
Really nice spot for a family get away, my 2 year old was so well catered and cared for by the staff, could not say thankyou enough!!
A fantastic Hotel with Great amenities. Some of the Lodges furniture and kitchen items are in real need of updating. A very pleasant week though despite the weather.
Great views over Rutland Water, restaurants and bars. Genuinely worth a visit
Lovely setting, just above the shores of Rutland water. Great leisure facilities and rooms were lovely and spacious.
We got a great deal from wowcher we upgraded to a bigger room a we have a great view over looking the reservoir which a a lot of wild birds
Nice hotel, with friendly professional staff. Beautifull surroundings with lots of activities. I would visit this place again.
Barnsdale hotel and lodges are the most relaxing experiences that my wife and I have had since returning to the UK. We absolutely love the place and area. Just Great.
Very nice place for short break. Lake view is beautiful. Food is good. F
Rooms are also nice and clean.
Very nice setting and room. Little overpriced I thought. Has honeymoon sweet and apart from a 4 poster, nothing much else. Stunning views and decent food though, (pricey) plus use of pool and sauna.
Visited this location as a potential wedding venue for 2023, and what can I say except WOW!
We were completely blown away by this resort, it offers so much more than we imagined and is beautiful.
We were shown around by Richard who was extremely professional and very enthusiastic about the visit. He was very thorough and showed us so many options, an absolute pleasure. We definitely think we've chosen our venue with this one and can't wait to go back with friends and family.
Very nice food and good company at the WI Autumn Lunch held in the Edith Weston Suite yesterday.
Very spectacular location overlooking Rutland water, conference facilities were good and food provided excellent especially the cakes
A beautiful country retreat. Very friendly staff and plenty of them.
Lovely views, great spot for walking, cycling with the family or a romantic get away.
Would have given 5 stars if the following were included in the stay:
1. A bottle of water per person in room per day.
2. Bath robes & slippers in room, so use of spa would feel more comfortable.
3. Hotel guests to have pool towels in room. It was a bother to go and ask for them every time.
4. Fridge in room.
5. Mattress was uncomfortable.
6. Safe in the room.
A few little tweaks would make you feel special and that you were in an exclusive resort.
However, we did love our stay and we will be back for sure.
Basically lovely place with some nice views - highly recommended
Stayed as overnight guest, informed upon arrival that leisure facilities were not available. Very disappointed. Staff apologized but offered no compensation. Room small but clean, could use some maintenance as areas showed signs of age (stained carpets and wallpaper coming away from the walls. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was tasty, restaurant staff very friendly. Pity the lack of facilities and the attitude of my welcome committee has put me off. Can't recommend this one I'm afraid.
Rooms very dated
Food very similar to motorway services
Service manager unhelpful
But a big plus is the location and wonderful view from our room with a balcony. Superb selection of nearby pubs and restaurants
Numerous walking routes to enjoy and would recommend lunch and a pint at the Noel pub in Whitwell
Very good hotel with impeccable service to rooms and pub
With such a lovely backdrop it's understandable why guests come here. The facilities available are also fabulous. Oakham and Stamford are a short drive away and both are good towns to visit if you're ever bored of Rutland water. Due to the lack of WiFi in the lodge we were staying at I had to reduce the rating
Got married here 5 years ago and have been back twice and stayed in the lodges in the grounds they are really good value for money and very spacious we enjoy the freedom of the lodge but like to be able to use the facilities of the hotel we will definitely be coming back again
Stayed here for the night of a family wedding. Our room was beautiful and finished to a high standard. We were very lucky and had a wonderful view from our balcony of the beautiful surroundings of Rutland water. You need not want for anything here as everything is provided for your comfort. Would thoroughly recommend it for your stay in the area if you want luxury and comfort.
Nice setting. Not a single building but many apartments spread over the estate. Great view of Rutland water. Various leisure activities such as gym and indoor pool. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Our room was comfy enough but the decor was a bit dated.
Lovely location on Rutland Water. Nice walks round the water. Haven't hired a bike but there are several places to do so. We're staying in a 2 bedroom apartment that has been refurbished. Very high quality kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Open plan living area with TV and DVD player. 2 double bedrooms. Unfortunately double bed is hard and uncomfortable. Would have expected a comfortable king size bed! Other bedroom is a double instead of a twin which it was previously. Facilities are excellent at the resort. Plenty to do. Bar and restaurant are expensive. Nearest town Oakham is a lovely place to visit with lots of pubs and restaurants.
