If you are considering moving into a community with a HOA managed by this company, run!!! We've been in our home 3 and a half years now, and this company is the worst. We live beside a common area that they are supposed to maintain and don't. We had 3-ft+ weeds for much of the year. When I called, the company gave me an e-mail address to contact the manager. I sent three e-mails and received no reply. The snow removal is a joke. They don't plow at all unless it is a major snowstorm and then, they only come out after it is over. They moved the mailboxes three times and changed locks. It is our responsibility to keep going to the post office for a new set of keys. They routinely send threatening letters to the residents, which advise of fees and penalties for not following specific rules. We have received almost a dozen of these letters within the past 3 months regarding garage can placement, keeping the garage door down, parking issues, and advising us to write down license plate numbers of cars going too fast in the community. Yes, they told us to write down license plate numbers and then call the police. Our HOA fees increase every year. I am not certain where the money is going. Landscaping is not kept up. Trash is all over the playground. They have said the HOA does not have enough money to maintain the community. Prior to having the house built, we read the very lengthy HOA rule book and signed it! We have complied with the rules. At first, we thought that would mean that all the properties would be kept up to a certain standard. However, that's not the case. Our neighbors have been growing tomato plants in their front yard throughout the entire time we have lived here. It looks awful. It's as if the HOA picks and chooses what rules they will enforce, and the amount of letters we receive from them feels like harassment. After three years of this, I felt the need to leave a review. I do not recommend them.

I have lived in a Barnett Management community for nearly 12 years. I am normally very patient and tolerable when it comes to ignorance and rudeness, but for Barnett, my patience has completely run out. Simply a HORRIBLE management company. Strongly considering moving, given the horrible customer service and complete lack of professionalism. David Barnett has been arrogant and rude since he took over the company from his father. I have friends that live in other communities with other management companies and they don t have even a fraction of the issues I have with Barnett. From being assessed accidental fines to being sent late notices for fees paid on time that the accounting department lost track of . This company will stop at NOTHING to gain an extra buck from an unexpecting homeowner. If you are considering a home that is managed by Barnett, I would strongly suggest considering a different property, or at least speak with some neighbors and get the REAL review of Barnett first hand. I ve noticed several of these reviews on here are from employees of Barnett.

This is the ABSOLUTE WORST company I have ever had...

This is the ABSOLUTE WORST company I have ever had to encounter. Unfortunately, I had no choice in whom is in charge of the HOA for my condo but I would never wish this company on anyone. I have had MULTIPLE issues since I mover here over a year ago. They never answer my calls and if they do they don't call me back when I leave multiple voicemails to call me back. Recently they 'did not receive' my payment for December HOA so I asked them to take note so if it randomly came I wouldn't be double charged since I wrote another check to cover december and january and MAGICALLY they found my check a month later cashed it after I asked them not to and now im going to overdraft since I essentially sent them 3 payments to cover the lost payment and this month. I have left multiple voicemails with no call back and im starting to get concerned. This is a terrible company and I wish I wouldnt have to feel this way. I never write reviews but this one was necessary. It's sad to see others dealing with the same issues as myself.

I experienced the same initial disatisfaction. Sending $400 invoices on Dec. 21 that are due on January 1 is not good business. Also the company does not make it easy to pay HOA fees. They don't take payments over the phone nor to they offer a way to pay online through a website. This is 2017 and who has time to drive to a location and make a payment or use the USPS mail?

The receptionist who answered the phone was short and not very helpful. However, I did finally speak with Carol in Accounts receivable who was helpful and informative. If not for her I would not have been a happy camper. But she help me to resolve my issues.

I have read the one star reviews and in most of them the complaints seem more to do with your boards approval and financial status that is out of a management co's. control. Also there are just tenants/owners who are a pain in the neck and are never happy. The only reviews that should be considered are those from board members of an association. They are the only ones who truly know what the mgt. co. does or doesn't do.

We just bought a town home in Avon Lake and our home inspector uncovered a couple of minor maintenance items. Even though we were not yet officially homeowner's in that particular subdivision, Barnett immediately took care of the items. Communication was quick and friendly. Looking forward to working with Barnett now that we are officially owners!

if i could give 0 stars i would. worst customer service!
reply: it's amazing how fast you can respond to this review but can't do the same to my multiple phone calls about a dead tree on HOA property. I've been calling since May, spoke to several different people. each time i get a different response and usually one that says it's taken care of yet I still see the dead tree laying there. it's such an eye sore and makes our community look unkept. if you'd prefer i'll remove the tree myself & send you a bill!

Professional property management team. They have managed our property for 3 years. Monthly financial reports are always provided on time. Prompt responses to all questions and concerns. Rebecca is easy to work with & if she doesn't know the answer to a question, she will investigate until she finds the answer. I appreciate their honesty when answering questions. When issues arise Rebecca and David are willing to explain/educate our board on procedures that need to be followed. Unfortunately they often have to be the "bad guys" when it comes to enforcing rules and/or regulations. That may make some feel negatively about them. However, they are just doing the job that they were hired to do by the Board of Directors. I am very thankful for their integrity and for the job that they do.

I ve worked with Barnett over the last 10 years in separate HOA neighborhoods. Initially, I didn t have much interaction, or issue, with them. Lately, between selling my previous home and moving to a new one, I am disappointed in their service and responsiveness.

In selling my previous home, it was a struggle to work with them to get information the title company needed to close the sale. I experienced lack of responsiveness to my and my agent s phone calls and emails and general disregard for communication, resulting in a delayed closing process, resulting in unnecessary additional closing costs.

Fast forward to my new home purchase. Snow plowing is included in my monthly HOA dues, but for some reason, it s not happening. I called the office twice, but can not get an answer as to why I don t have service. Tyler initially said he d contact the contractor for me. Next snowfall, my driveway is again neglected. After a voicemail to Tyler, I don t receive a reply. I then emailed David twice with this concern and a few other questions. After a third email and TWELVE days passing - since the original email - I m clearly not important enough to warrant a response, not even a "let me follow up". Barnett would be well-served by responding to and resolving their customers' needs in a timely manner. It sure would be great if customer service wasn t dead.

I submitted my request for my fence, patio and few things I wanted to get done to my back yard and the responses and communication I got back from Matt Williams was awesome. Everything was done in a timely manner. Faster than I expected to be quite honest. He was really professional and the customer service was excellent. Awesome management company!!

I left voice mail, emails. No one called me or emailed me it s been more then 3 months. I left a voice message to David and still no reply. So if u can stay away do so!

Unfortunately, my experience with Barnett has not been positive thus far. The property grounds are in very deplorable condition. The lawn is not maintain on a regular basis, there are large potholes in the driveways, the redwood fence is now brown. It very embarrassing to say the least.

On several occasions I've left voicemails and they're never returned. I pay my monthly HOA Fee on time every month. I wonder why I am paying the fees and the property is in shambles.

I plan to purchase a lawnmower and maintain my own lawn. I refuse to have an overgrown lawn all season.

I take pride in where I live. A change must come!

The worst management company we've ever had. The p...

The worst management company we've ever had. The property manager is condescending and speaks negatively about owners behind their backs (yes, my neighbor told me what you said about me). They've contracted with a shady tow company 15 miles away instead of the local one really close by, and have drastically increased the incidence of towing cars, which, together, seems really fishy. We have a lot of serious problems with our road, roof, and siding, yet they have annoyed our owners with poor financial decisions and over enforcement of menial rules to the point of people actually selling their condos at a significant loss just to get away from them. When you have a problem, the people who answer the phone always "have absolutely no idea" and direct you to "talk to your property manager directly", who, of course, just left for vacation yesterday.
One example of how terrible they are:
Our road is in horrible shape. It's going to cost hundreds of thousands to replace. They decided to waste approximately $13k having address numbers repainted on our parking spots. They sent out a notice with the wrong date on it, and several owners didn't receive the correct notice in time. They towed 5 owners' cars directly out of their parking spaces, AND I WAS HOME AT THE TIME! They could have knocked and asked me to move, after all, they knew where I lived, considering they were painting my address on the ground. The company they hired also didn't clean the ground before they painted, so the new paint washed away with the first hard rain. Within weeks, the old numbers were easier to read than the new. When confronted, the management company didn't even attempt to get our money back.

Due to the companys' lack of follow up, consistency, professionalism, and responsiveness, it has caused divisiveness in our community and dissention. Volunteer boards should not have to follow up with a paid service company repeatedly to complete tasks or follow through. Outstanding items are up to two years overdue. Management company does not provide requested contractor bids, breakdown of financial expenses, or recommendations on budgetary concerns. Resident privacy breaches and professionalism concerns were brought to the owner which received no response. Owner refuses to address multiple board concerns. I strongly encourage boards not to hire this company.

We had a problem this summer with water coming into our basement by the front of the house. We needed a foot of dirt replaced in the front yard because of the pitching when it rains. The front landscaping is the HOA s responsibility. As soon as we emailed David Barnett, he drove to our house that day to look at the problem. He was on top of getting quotes and moving the landscaping company along quickly. The landscapers did not do the job well and actually made it worse. We told David and he immediately had them out there the next day fixing it and doing it the right way. We had been irritated with the landscapers in the past but David Barnett was so helpful and really came through for us. We appreciate him for being so helpful through this process!!!!

Similar to other reviews, this company is has some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. How they handle things and how they word their communications to the customers that pay them is ridiculous. I have many agreements that I've signed with companies and they do not treat me, the customer, the way that this company has. Doing everything I can to get our development to use a company that has proper service standards and values.

In response. I will rectify the issue and never even mentioned it above. You can hide behind the statement that you are just upholding the agreement, but that does not change the fact that you send out threatening letters to the home owners that pay for your services. There's a better way. Take a look at what you send out and think about how you would like to receive a letter with that type of wording for what is the largest purchase that most people will ever make. People take pride in their home and the way you write your violation letters are ridiculous. I don't appreciate being threatened with fines over a mailbox that is leaning 4" and which nobody has ever said anything about. Yes, I do not know every single rule in our agreement and yes, since I spend every day at my home I probably don't see every issue there is all the time. I never even noticed the mailbox until the letter. No need to come across the way you do in your letters and threaten the homeowner as if they've done something wrong or don't take pride in their home and it's an eye sore. I'd be happy to post pictures of my home, the issue, and the letter if you'd like.

Nobody returns calls or emails, the things the management company is supposed to be responsible for taking care of, they don't take care of. I would highly suggest steering clear of any property managed by this company.

Happy with Barnett Management (BMI), our HOA has been using them for about 5 or 6 years and am pleased with their performance, services and pricing.

The service offering has been flexible, the team has been accommodating to our changing requirements and David has been very helpful in bringing ideas and experience from other HOAs in Northern Ohio.

Management companies and HOAs are thankless areas of service, in this case we are lucky to have a team such as Barnett that works with us on a personal level instead of just a Service Level Agreement.

This is the worst management company.. no customer service, don t return phone calls, text messages, don t comply with their contract.
We have paid for snow removal for 2 years with them and not once have they showed up. I wish I had the power because I would have fired them long ago.,

It is funny how all the five stars are from your employees. Try asking people that actually live in communities your "management company" is actually in charge of. If you are considering buying a house and they are in charge of it, I recommend you going somewhere else unless you like weekly letters of "violation". This place is worse then being in the military and being told what you can and cannot do. A complete joke of a company.

I wish I could give ZERO STARS. We have not only be harassed with letters threatening to fine us $250 for repairs that need to be made to our property only 17 days after a tornado came through, but they fail to respond to any call and voicemails we have left. To date we have called 7 times and left 4 VERY detailed messages. No calls back or correspondence of any kind. Do not trust the bogus positive reviews on this site, everyone we have talked to in our neighborhood is completely disgusted with the service from Barnett management. On top of these concerns MANY projects and maintenance needs in our neighborhood remain incomplete with no apparent plan for completion thanks to the complete lack of initiative from Barnett management.

Horrible management co, answering lady is impolite , does not have any answers but wanna take lengthy information on the phone , mellisa is horrible at answering phone calls.
Rude , uneducated and poor customer service
no one ever return phone calls , they just rob people with their hard earned money and don't provide any service.
All in all its big scam co, and don't do nothing just sit back collect somebody's hard earn money.,

With the rain we had this spring our grading was delayed until recently and finally has been approved. We paid for a deck to be installed back in March and when they came out today could not start as I not knowingly failed to contact HOA for approval. I immediately contacted Barnett management to find out what I needed to do to expedite this. Once my paperwork was submitted within several hours David Barnett approved our paperwork! I appreciate the quick response and that s what I call caring customer service.
