My daughter will be nine in January and is in her sixth year at Ballet Austin and our family absolutely loves the academy! We also enjoy attending the ballet performances all year - especially The Nutcracker. A family tradition each year! Don't miss The Nutcracker!

Love the option of drop in classes. Take advantage of the punch card and pick and choose your classes.
A couple times during the year they do a free day of dance to try out the different classes. The events pack in the dance rooms but well worth trying something out if you are not sure.

Great afternoon show of snow white! fun and engaging, different from the long center, you re actually on the stage. Top notch dancers, kinda small place(ballet Austin), loved it! One downside is parking. $30 to park, WTF! are we in Boston?! well at least the show was as good as anything you ll see in Boston.

Saw the company perform the nutcracker. Their quality seems very subpar to be a professional ballet. I personally didn't feel impressed or wowed by any part of their ballet except the primary ballerins. Hope to be impressed by their personal works.

I've been taking yoga, Pilates and dance classes at Ballet Austin since 2008. I love the flexibility of the class card, which allows me to drop into any of their community classes. My favorites: yoga, ballet fit and tap. I used to drop in on the yoga class on my way home from work; very convenient for downtown residents. Looking forward to checking out more classes this fall!

Great resource for the local community. I stopped in for one of their free days and had a great time. There's been construction nearby recently which made parking a challenge, but there is a lot you can pay for at the corner.

My initial experience with Ballet Austin was very quiet and reserved. I am a very out-going person and it did not seem to me that the Ballet Beginner 1 and the Absolute Ballet 1 groups were outgoing. I kept giving it a try because my instructors were so helpful and informative, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't feel out of place and that the speed of the class was too advanced to be called "Beginner".

That being said, after a couple of weeks with Ballet Beginner 1 and Hip-Hop Beginner 1, I have realized that it just takes getting used to the speed of the instructor and everyone is different.

I absolutely love all of my classes and feel like I have found a home in Ballet Austin. Their performances are also something to check out if you have not seen any!

The thing is I have been to truly wonderful pilate...

The thing is I have been to truly wonderful pilates classes where the level of instruction AND service are superlative - i.e. a five star experience. My assumption was that Austin Ballet Pilates Center offered such a service. This is NOT the case. Let me be crystal clear here: You will NOT get attentive instructors. You will get good instructors who know what they're doing. You will also pay $30/class for them to lay there and get their work out in, paying more attention to themselves than to students who have paid an incredibly premium price for a presumably premium service. I have NEVER been to a studio where the teachers routinely join in for the entire hour. I have often encouraged instructors to join in but at the various studios I have frequented all over the country, they have demonstrated but always stopped after the demonstration in favor of correcting the form and thus improving the quality of their students' workouts.
This is NOT those places. Austin Ballet pilates instructors are NOT there to teach us. They're there to make some money while they get their workout.
I am on the cusp of changing as soon as I find a high quality studio. I welcome suggestions.

Austin Ballet, if you're reading this, DO SOMETHING. This is a terrible reputation to have.

Amazing instructors, really. Constant comprehensive emails with discounts and they have free days often. Go to Jason's house dance class on Wednesdays at 8:15pm! Funnest type of class I've ever been to. Foreal.

I really do enjoy Ballet Austin, and have been taking classes with them off-and-on since I was a kid. Their offerings range from classical ballet to samba to Glee-workshops and every one that I have attended has been fun, invigorating and winsome. The teachers are encouraging and know what they are doing. Obviously I recommend taking some dance classes yourself! Their performances are also worthwhile, my favorite always remaining their yearly classic - The Nutcracker.

I'm a big fan of Ballet Austin and the Butler Center for Dance and Fitness. I have taken beginner ballet for adults, attended many of their drop in classes including Bollywood and hip hop fitness classes. They also regularly offer a free day of dance where you can come in and try ALL of their drop in classes! I recently purchased a group reformer class package and I am so pleased. I have only taken classes with Tyler G. and she is the bomb diggity! The classes are challenging, but they are small and she offers guidance on form to ensure you are targeting the correct muscle groups, some of which I had never felt before this class! The class setting is somewhat laid back and she plays fun music. What I love most about this class and Tyler specifically is that I learn a few new exercises at each class and she does not follow the same old routine for each class. I always get a full body workout and I feel taller, stronger, and more confident after participating in her classes. Ballet Austin also has full changing rooms and showers if you need it. Parking can be tricky at peak times, but they validate parking at the city hall parking lot if you can't find a spot in their lot.

I didn't like my experience with this ballet studio. I used to go to one near Domain and it was a great experience but since I now live down town it's a little too far from me.
I didn't get a friendly vibe at all. I wanted to try out the hiphop class for beginners (which wasn't beginner btw) I walked in and the girls in the front were just not friendly. Even after telling them this was my first time a lot of eye rolls and attitudes as if I should automatically know where is what.
I think I know the reason why BUT I will not say :)
I would not come here again. Oh well.

The classes may be ok but it so frustrating to allow 20 extra minutes before a class to try to find parking only to pay to park at city hall its not even worth it. The handful of free parking spots for ballet Austin patrons has even been reduced further and replaced with permit only parking.

From the perspective of an audience member: this company is a waste of time. I cannot even tell whether the issue is lack of talent on the part of the dancers, or a lack of quality by the director. But performances look SO shoddy and uncoordinated, with terrible, terrible timing.

On the very infrequent occasions I do attend one of their performances - I do it with my eyes closed (I only go to listen to the music now).

They have THE BEST Pilates classes in town. Vlada Sheber, the director of the Pilates program, is simply amazing. She pushes you to do more with your body than you ever thought you could. As a busy working mom I don't 'have a lot of time to work out and so every minute counts. When I take a Pilates class here I am packing in stretching, strengthening and even a little cardio all in one hour. Cannot recommend it enough!

We signed up our 3 year old. On the second class I heard the instructor Joan Wolfe tell another student thanks for your help because she is so bad She is my 3 year old who heard her say it. Then she walks over to me and says your daughter is not ready is she in school? I m pretty sure she just needed a nap. During class she violently jerked my daughter off of the metal balance beams on the side. In my opinion she s an old crabby lady who doesn t particularly like children and it shows. The comments about my daughter and the way she treated her made my daughter extremely upset. I regret ever going there.
