A very sincere, and emphatic THANK YOU to the esteemed Mr. Aydin Tekin (the pleasure was all mine, sir) and his impressive son Mr. Yuhan Tekin at BALLANTYNE JEWELERS. I took time to visit this fine establishment in the early evening several weeks ago with my best friend. I was curious and wanted a platinum ring appraised. I also needed two rings resized to 7. And I wanted to make a very modest purchase. I certainly did not expect to be negotiating with gentlemen over drinks in a relaxed tasteful restrained setting.
A polite young man greeted us warmly as we entered the showroom. He was impeccably dressed and exuded confidence with genuine warmth. A true young gentleman, we felt at ease instantly. We introduced ourselves and started to explore the products. It was like out of a movie. Think Oceans 11.
His father Aydin was working hard. Through glass windows I observed him with a loupe affixed to one eye, carefully working on a valuable product. He looked up smiled and briskly walked out to introduce himself. He was the young man's father. This is a family run business. It is run with integrity.
We chatted for a while. I had purchased a platinum ring back in 2003 from this very business although it was located somewhere else back then. I had purchased it from Sami, Aydin's brother, Yuhan's uncle. Aydin was at my wedding in 2003. He remembers a lot, he has a very sharp mind. I don't remember much, lol.
Yuhan invited us to relax in comfortable chairs as he poured us refreshments. We were shown various princess cut diamonds, ranging from 0.50 carats to 1.00 carats. They were all VS1, VS2 or S1. They were exquisite and astonishingly beautiful.
We negotiated for a while. It was professional, friendly, and candid. I looked at my knowledgeable friend. He nodded and I shook Yuhan's hand. Mr. Aydin set these himself in platinum and they were ready three days later, exactly as promised. I urge anyone who needs a once in a lifetime gift to visit BALLANTYNE JEWELERS. You will not forget the experience for the rest of your life, even if you do not purchase anything. I certainly won't.
