Sure, waits, lines. But it's been like this for years and it's for a good reason. Meals are made with love for food, not for whimsical fancies. Staff works hard to make sure you're happy.

The food was amazing, it was a little pricier than I would personally choose very often, but it was bought for me. Honestly the food was completely worth it no matter who was paying! They have a bruleed grapefruit that was absolutely amazing! I would go back just for that.
Went there when it first opened with 2 friends, we were not impressed. Have not been back since. Long wait, crowded, pricey, while some of the food was good, some was terrible, i.e. you could taste the baking soda in the biscuits, the gravy was over salted was there supposed to be sausage in it?
My Ultimate Favorite Breakfast And Lunch Spot In The Greater Sacramento Valley Great Menu Options For Breakfast Brunch, And Even Lunch The Chicken And Waffle Are Phenomenal The Biscuit Egg, Cheese, And Bacon Sandwich Is Outstanding Their Fresh Orange Juice Is The Best. I Highly Recommend This Place To Anyone Looking For Some Great Food, And A Sweet Cozy Atmosphere.
I have no regrets ever coming to this lovley place. There grilled cheese eggs benedict, was beyond falvorful. The sauce they used, would have Plankton from Spogebob trying to steal. I would recommend this place to all my friends!
Singular breakfeast experience in Sacramento. Nothing else like it. If you enjoy breakfast you will love it here. Phenomenal food and great coffee. Awesome staff and oh, did I mention the phenomenal food???
A true 5 star experience! We did have to wait 30 minutes for a table, but the service more than made up for it. My watch fe and I decided to share items, and it is the way to go. You will want to try the whole menu. The breakfast burrito was crafted to enjoy every bite. It had a nice ratio of potatoes and homemade chorizo which includes a thin cheese skirt for a nice crisp finish. Include a bite of arugula and a dip from one of their sauces and enjoy the perfect bite (the green chili sauce actually made me say "f*** yes" accidentally). We also ordered the bacon, biscuit, and gravy. I don't know how this was accomplished, but they managed to make this a classic comfort food taste without the heavy feeling afterwards. Tasted like something grandma would make, but without the side of guilt. We ordered our our eggs over medium, and they weren't over cooked like most places. We topped it off with their cinnamon roll. My wife is a HUGE fan of Cinnabon cinnamon rolls, and she was a little bummed when she took her first bite. This is not the doughy ooey- gooey bite she was expecting, but we both loved it more and more with each bite. They made this a crispy, flakey roll instead, but is not dry what-so-ever. Leave you expectations of cinnamon rolls at the door and enjoy this for what it is. Top all of this off with a good price per portion, charming atmosphere, friendly, quick staff, and you will leave seeing why it earns a rare 5 star review from me.
If I could give them more stars, I would! The food was amazing!! We ate family style, 10 of us total, and the portions were perect. The staff was great. We will be eating here again next time we are in town.
Have to say, this is the absolute best eggs Benedict I've ever had. Epic good. Good like, I have family that are gourmet chefs and I'd bring them here when they visit. That good. And the coffee is divine. I'll be going back tomorrow to try something else.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! The food, it's amazing! So delicious and the variety they have in the menu is perfect! They change the menu almost weekly so you can try new seasonal dishes. They use fresh produce and local good to prepare everything. Yes you will probably have to wait but if you know that in advance is usually not a big deal. It you have a large group (8 or more) you can make reservations and they will serve you family style. They don't make reservations for smaller groups but the wait is typically only 20-30 minutes.
Experience is wonderful. Don't judge from the outside. Once you open the doors the place is much bigger than it looks. The bathrooms are very nice and clean. Service was top notch. The food is amazing and the prices are fair.
Good original takes on crowd favorite dishes... eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy.. etc... wait time can be insane on weekends....
We had to wait an hour to get in but it was worth it. Delicious food and a very kind staff. If I lived in Sacramento I would come here often. It may be the best brunch place you will ever go to.
I'd give this 10 stars if possible. The coffee was fabulous, but that's not even the best part. The best part was ... oh my gosh where do I begin? The Pear French toast OMG! Pure decadence.
Out party of 10 only had a 10 minute wait. We were served 3 large platters of: Eggs, Bacon, Potatoes ... plus 3 side dishes (3 of anything from the menu).
We got the Pear French Toast; the Polenta/Broccoli and the Biscuits n Gravy.
We have ALL been talking about it all week. So incredibly fabulous.
The service and food was just THE BEST EVER! Can't wait to go again.
Absolutely loved it! This was our first time here and the food and staff were fantastic! We came close to closing, but the staff took excellent care of us and we didn't feel rushed at all. The food was mind blowing, compliments to the chef. Our waiter (Jordan) went above and beyond. Thanks for a great experience!
I ordered the biscuit sandwich with a side of the bacon gravy. The biscuit sandwich and homestyle potatoes were delicious! I wasn't much of a fan of the bacon gravy, but my overall experience was excellent.
Went for the second time on sunday, and it was as good as I remembered. I got the grilled cheese Benedict, and the hollandaise was superb. My boyfriend loved his potatoes and said the gravy was delicious. Thanks for an awesome meal, definitely recommending to friends.
I made a HUGE mistake not ordering the polenta with broccoli. They let me have a small bowl and it exceeded my expectations. I can only imagine how much more I would have been impressed had i ordered the dish with the ham hocks and eggs. Next trip I will be back.
Beautiful and delish food. Service was friendly and willing to answer questions about menu items, even letting us see other items as they went out to other tables (while still getting them to their home table quickly). We shared a couple of lovely cinnamon rolls while waiting for our order to be prepared along with fresh hot coffee. Our main order included the Broccoli Polenta, Grilled Cheese Benedict and an amazingly fluffy Chorizo Omelette. All so good I couldn't pick a fave.
Delicious brunch spot very popular with locals, and for good reason. Sizable portions and locally sourced sustainable ingredients set this place apart from many of the other brunch locations nearby. Be prepared for a 30 minutes or longer wait, but again I would say it's worth it!
I have never had a restaurant put tasteless gravy all over my "should have been" extra crispy bacon and eggs. Biscuit and gravy only together ! I do not feel the 35 min. wait was worth it. We drove for an hour just to eat there.
Absolutely mouthwatering. Everything is delicious. Had their French toast on a prior visit A+. Today I had their grilled cheese benedict. Scrumptious. My friend had a cinnamon rolls, even better than a Cinnabon.
This place has an eclectic menu that expands one's taste buds. My son and I enjoyed the rich offerings of "The Kitchen Sink" and the biscuit & gravy with bacon and eggs. Forgot the name but memorable flavors. This is a wait in line forever to get a cramped seat. We say counterside. Ordered the flavorful deep rich dark roasted coffee. A little expensive at $3.50. Although service was excellent and kitchen fast for all their busyness. The gravy was very much a sausage based a little thin biscuit was good. Eggs perfectly prepared. Bacon was served at the bottom and was a knife and fork affair. I usually like mine crisp but under a biscuit and gravy there is no chance at crisp. The kitchen sink was excellent and quickly consumed with a big yum.
Finally got to try this place, we went Sunday morning and it looked packed! But the wait wasn't bad, about 20 minutes and definitely worth it. We ordered 3 blueberry pancakes and each ordered a dish in the side (went home with lots of food.) 3 adults and 1 child. I ordered the kitchen sink. It was amazing! Big chunks of bacon (biggg) yummy potatoes, with spinach and lots of cheese...and topped off with an egg. The pancakes were probably the best I've ever had, flavorful, rich and moist. Service was friendly and fast. Will definitely be back.
To be fair, I'm not a fan of biscuits. My wife loves the restaurant and I will go to appease my wife. My wife had the Grill Cheese Benedict and I had the breakfast burrito and added mushrooms with a side of avocado, my wife loved her food and my burrito was good but very dry and could barely taste the chorizo. Over all the food was good. The biggest problem with my experience was the nasty, disgusting book that the waiter brought my finished check to me in , there has to be a health department violation with the way they use the books to bring your check to you.
Literally the richest food I've ever had. Despite a large line, we were seated within 10 minutes. I sit down, read menu, see Grilled Cheese Benedict. Don't even read other options. Eat entire plate. Pretty sure there was a pound of cheese, another pound of Hollandaise, bacon and (actually poached!) poached eggs. Girlfriend got some potato item that was also delicious but I couldn't be bothered to look past distended gut. Only downside was the cost but I do think I got the calories I paid for.
B&B was fantastic! The service for me and my other nine sisters (Tea Sisters Society ) was top notch! Our server Kristina was wonderful. She handled our group splendidly. OH THE FOOD WAS AWESOME! !! Every dish was worth reordering. We all agreed that we will definitely be coming back for another delicious meal.
Hands down my favorite breakfast/brunch location to go to in Sacramento. Food is always delicious. Portions are great and the service is fantastic! Super friendly and outgoing staff there.
Best spot for a comfort breakfast!! The fact that they have bacon gravy instead of sausage gravy is what really sold me. Their breakfast burritos are delish as well. 10/10 would recommend this spot. Definitely expect a wait time no matter what time you choose to go. Parking also isn't the best so carpooling is ideal
Great food and even better portions at reasonable prices. The only downside is that sometimes the waits are really long on the weekends, as much as two hours and everyone in your party has to be there when they seat you. Ambiance is great, a lot of people talking and enjoying their meals. Their Eggs Benedict is to die for !!
This place has a nice atmosphere customers were pleasant and the staff was amazing. Quick service and they were really busy when I went. I got the orange poppy seed pancakes with a side of sausage that they make from scratch.
brunch, yummy. I love this place, excellent food & service. Had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again. Wish it was closer to my house, I would come every week.
For weekend breakfast or brunch...do yourself a favor and show up at or before 8:30. After 9, a table for 2 or more will cost at minimum 45 minutes of your life; and you'll very likely be upset that they will have run out of the fresh baked good du jour. Once seated, buckle up and enjoy...great food options, locally sourced, in creative combinations, and served by polite, professional people. The adult beverage menu is nice too; I haven't partaken of the bloody mary, but it looks awesome, and anecdotally gets rave reviews.
My most recent experience had my 6 y.o.grandson and I spending $33 (not including tip) on a cinnamon roll baked on site, a glass of milk, a cup of coffee, and one of their most popular entrees, which combined eggs, potatoes, diced lardon (pork belly, y'all. I had to ask, too.), mushrooms, spinach and grilled onions. It was delicious.
It's an expensive breakfast/brunch based on what I've experienced locally. But the demand makes it clear that the price is right. If you can, visit on a weekday!
Quite possibly the best breakfast at a restaurant that I have ever had. Service, food, literally everything was phenomenal. There was a pretty decent line but that is to be expected for something this good. Do yourself a favor and try it. It's worth the wait, I promise...
The pancake was really fluffy and one order comes with 3 pieces. The omelette was decent, My favorite is the avocado toast toast and the Bee pollen Yogurt
We arrived at 9:22. We were told 30min wait, turned in to an hour. Hostess was rude. We were seated and when the food arrived it was cold. We sent the food back and left at 10:50. We will never visit again.
Loved the breakfast. The interior is so cute, the food is fresh, and breakfast selection is unique. Very nice. Highly recommend. Wait times be warned are anywhere from 5 mins to 25, place is ALWAYS full. :)
Quality food. Quality drinks. Quality service. Quality atmosphere. The bacon is exceptional and all other ingredients are of an equally high standard. The house made pickles that accompany the Bloody Mary were a highlight. I look forward to trying the Chile Verde Hash in the future! Thanks Jermejesty! (and the team)
Waited more than 45 minutes, I chose to get biscuit & gravy. The biscuit was too dry and there was too much gravy but the eggs & bacon were the only good parts of the dish.
This place is next level! All of the food I have had here was amazing, you can tell they use fresh ingredients, and put time and care into preparing your meal. This is no denies, and people around here know that, so please expect a wait if you go on Saturday or Sunday for breakfast or lunch. I highly recommend you check this place out if you are in the area.
Okay, let's just start by saying it's one of the best breakfast places we've been to, ever! It's farm to table, and our son is a former farm to table chef, so we have a solid benchmark. The wait to get in was worth it, because once we sat, we ordered and our food was ready relatively quickly. Original style dishes. Yummy. I can't see eating breakfast anywhere else in Sacramento. They also serve alcohol! Two locations, so we hope to try the other soon.
Maybe the best breakfast I've ever had. Ham hocks and fried polenta with poached eggs. Amazing! There's a reason people are willing to wait outside for an hour to get a seat.
I don t normally write reviews, but I figured this one may help the restaurant.
Let s start with the good.
The food was amazing. That s what matters the most (in my opinion).
The staff was friendly. It s all about your people.
The bad
The wait time was about an hour...and while I understand that you are gonna wait for a high demand restaurant, I noticed two things that made it hard to wait.
1. I saw a waiter sneak his buddies to the front of the line after I was waiting for 45 minutes. I understand it s always about who you know, but when you are waiting for 45 minutes in the cold, watching this sucks.
2. It wouldn t hurt to invest into some heat lamps outside. Once inside, I sat at the bar and never fully warmed up. Keeping people warm outside will put them in better moods by the time they get inside. Especially if your known to have a wait time.
The service Once we sat down, they took our order right away. After that, it was hard to get any attention. I counted 6-7 people walking behind the bar and it was a struggle to get a refill on my mimosa.
I ordered the grilled cheese Benedict with fruit, but it came out with potatoes.
Then at the end, we had to wave the book with the bill in front of us to get the check taken care of.
Overall, I feel that If the staff was more attentive, they would get more people in and out faster and have less of a wait time. When you are as popular as Bacon and Butter is, you have to run like a well oiled machine to sustain the service and maximize profits. Unfortunately, they are not there yet. Invest in the restaurant and staff with better training.
I gave 3 stars because as amazing as the food was, I left there feeling frustrated and missing that warm and fuzzy feeling that you get at a great restaurant.
Brunch and the feeling here is better than most. The food was amazing. Certainly worth going back to. It has a good atmosphere. This place has many good reviews for a reason.
