I do not like this airport, very often unpleasant service but it also happens that it is good too. No elevators after leaving the airport ramp, thanks to which you could normally get in a trolley with a child in the trolley. Generally the biggest accusations in terms of accompanying infrastructure. Places under the gate'mi narrow, little seating.
Actually the queues were a bit long, fortunately I had checked in online, the security checks would have taken 10 minutes ... the bus to London costs 8 pounds and takes almost two hours with traffic ... the train , faster, is in my opinion too expensive (19 pounds). I didn't find any rude staff or dirty bathrooms, I would say the opposite ...
If you have small children then this is a no go airport. They don t have any shortcuts for families like all normal airports around the world do so getting through airport is a really hard work. Staff also rude and generally I feel that the attitude is that people are just pieces of meat in the grinding machine. They are us sausage business!
Note that you have to pay to use their passenger pick up and drop off areas which is ridiculous. I m now anxious how will I find my taxi tomorrow because we re flying back to Stansted!!! But I don t have options because I have lots of stuff and a baby.
The seating in Stansted is pretty random located in weird places like hallways plus it s very uncomfortable hard seats.
Parking prices are off the roof, extremely expensive, don't stay over 30 minutes you'll end up paying a fortune.... shops, food, drinks everything is way more expensive than other places, total and complete robbery, avoid taking your car there unless youre going to drop off/pick up area
As opposed to bad press there recently, everything was impeccable, all staff excellently organised and nice, no queues, no nothing. All G
Disgusting airport. Never will I travel from there again. Toilets are filthy and rancid. Staff are just as bad, except for the lovely gentleman at the info desk. No seating and many people sprawled out on the ground like bodies. I double checked my GPS to reassure myself I was at an airport and not in some camp facility. No organisation process, no staff support and when you tried for assistance you were ignored. Security process was absolutely horrendous.

Of all London airports it is the one in which you have to queue the most and for longer at the passport check at the arrivals.
It is really shame it is so far away of my place, but the best (and the longest) set down area with buses that will take you to the terminal. Always helpful airport staff willing to advice and give you a hand if necessary. As for now my favorite London's airport
Security very slow, delay caused by 1 bag per fortnight policy with the x-ray machine. Infuriating and never ending zig zag through the shops. Perhaps OK for a holidaymaker with time to kill but avoid if you are a regular traveller.
Normal airport, Ryanair's main hub if I'm not mistaken. Controls that are really too slow and long.
The airport itself is okay, quite far from the center but rel. clearly. Staff is nice. But what is really bad are the distances until you are completely on the gate, can be almost infinitely long, especially if you already rel rel. is late. Had almost missed the flight. You are passed along endless shops and then it is still very far to the gates. If you have to know or calculate, especially if then the stansted express fails and you are carted by bus, it can be tight in time.
Drop off parking prices are ridiculousShops have good variety but very expensive drinks at bar. Security were quick and professional

No seats and very limited space in departure area. If you have an early flight, staying overnight there means sitting in front of the main door on a cold floor.
In general very inefficient, rude and unprofessional security control staff, insufficient space due to overwhelming number of shops. Certainly not reccommended for connecting flights. Choose gatwick or luton, much better in all senses!
At one point I LOVED Stanstead. My mum used to work there, so we as a family spent a lot of time at the airport in the late 90's. We always said its like a train station because of its relaxed attitude to picking up and dropping off. Also More
When you take your car, the departure route itself is a toll road.
3.5 pounds up to 15 minutes,
I will not give you any change.
If you re-enter within 20 minutes, you will have to pay an extra 20 pounds.
Security are rude surly and very aggressive, I don't like this airport anymore, gone down hill, nearly missed 2 flights due to delays in security areas with their "jobsworth" behavior.
A generally good airport but the main building seems very cramped and claustrophobic.
Airport too small for such a large number of people. There is not even a place to stand at peak times. Access from London and High Wycombe even approx. Prices in the free zone in some stores the same as before the gates.

Recently passed through Stansted Airport which used to be my preferred airport. Now it is a total nightmare! Long queues at security, herded like cattle to pass through to the duty free area by unfriendly staff, miles to walk (how do elderly people cope?) and that new black sparkly flooring is ghastly and made me, and others, feel quite disorientated. Not enough seating or flight information screens. Toilets stuck in corners entailing quite a walk to find, boarding passes required to be shown to purchase even a newspaper! User unfriendly!
Avoid night flights at all cost. Lack of staff for volume of people. Buses every 15 minutes to the long stay - nope. Most E-gates of any terminal of the UK, brilliant maybe it would help if you used them.

I have two differently experiences on this airport and it depends in the time of the day you're flying .
The security check ussualy is smooth , which is important for me , but sometimes the staff looks like they don't know their own job and they check like a huge biblical book to see if is accepted the articles you bringing in your hand luggage , making me lost 15 minutes .
In you're late to get the boarding gate , you can just run before u get trough the spiral shopping area ( which feels like never ends ) , then wait for the slower shuttle I never seen , climb the stair and maybe you will be accepted on the boarding gate .
Another thing is make me annoyed is that the air company's says you must get the airport with 2 hours advanced , and then you have to wait 15 earlier than your flight depart until you can see the boarding gate on the screen .
It feels like the airport is getting worse in organising as they're getting more busy .

Let's call this airport Get-Your-Money airport. We are tourists and really had no idea. We used our oyster card to enter the train, came out from the train a staff member gave us $80 penalty. She said because we didn't get the train tickets. At the airport, there are basically no places to sit unless you paid your food so you can sit at the food court area. We sat at an empty area, a security came and kicked us out said this is only for handicap. Also, they made people go through all the stores (so you can buy stuff) to the gates. Font size on the screen at the waiting area is way TOO SMALL, we hardly able can tell what's our gate number. Please don't come to this airport if you can. This is by far the worst airport experience I have ever had.
Was there on time, had finished everything, but when I was at the gate was no info where my flight fly. It was outside but when I was at dwm gate, I was wrong. When I asked the staff they meant another one. There I waited auxh, there was nobody. I kept asking that was very heavy because the info was not occupied over 1 hour! The info / departure plan at gate there was not even my flight turned off! I was in the right gate!
London Stansted Airport typically offers a pleasant passenger experience on both departure and arrival. Traffic continues to grow but things generally flow quite well. Sufficient retail opportunities both sides of security. Seating is in short supply during busy times. I also find short term parking a bit pricey, even for an airport.
Rudely told off by security staff for trying to sleep horizontally ("you can't sleep lying down, it's the bye-law of the airport" apparently) and told to check into a hotel. It's not even the ban against sleeping, it's the guard having a power trip. (Have a flight at 6.45am and last trains arrives at airport around midnight)
Poorly organized, poorly designed, confusing and slow through security, would benefit from wider range of duty free shopping, and last but not least a shame motorcycles have to pay unlike most European and UK airports.
Customs is slow in & out of country. Staff are mostly unpleasant. Far from central London. Poor signage. Waiting areas ok. Good example of British inefficiency.

Worst seen flying 100k miles a year. So badly organised processes coupled with rude staff. Always some troubles here. And most flights are delayed due to it. Avoid at all costs.
In Switzerland we have more clear distinction between sport activities and airport - you go to Alps for running, hiking steps, climbing, overtaking obstacles. But at Stansed it's all indoor. If you manage in 1.5h then you are like first finalist in marathon ;-)
Average airport. Did lose some gifts of mine on the aircraft shuttle and were not sent to lost property.
I travel by air extensively and although I must admit I generally hate airports I must say Stansted really is one of the worst I have experienced, including in developing countries.
On arrival there were little or no signs to where things were. OK, there is construction going on but surely rather than effectively dumping passengers outside you could at least direct them to such things as the station?
Departure was little, if any better. Security was relatively quick given the herding like cattle that passengers were subjected to.
I know a significant amount of revenue for airports now comes from retail sales but surely the customer deserves some service?
Having worked with MAG in a previous existence I must admit I expected more. This was the first time I've used Stansted in years. It will be many more before I use it again!

A policeman had the nerve to ask me; why do I travel so much after "randomly" selecting me for a passport/ police dog check....afterwards he suggested that I had a bit of an attitude with him. Not to mention security control was the slowest one I,ve seen in dozens of airports....way to go...0/10

Don't go with the train unless you know where to go. You'll end up with trouble. But security will help you
Frugal airport, make sure bring your wallet so you can pay your self through the airport.
The one mile enforced Mall walks is good unless you have to run for your plain as there are no short cut.
On this place you are to pay for dropping off or picking up your loved ones no matter what. Its a great revenue for the company, very smart.
So I personally avoid this joint at all cost.
An lovely building spolit by the shops that fill what was supposed to be an open space. The route through shops is long and torturous

Do yourself a favour and pay the extra few quid to travel from any other airport! This place will test your patience and then break you. You will wait for everything and you will be delayed, this is confirmed by the official statistics.

Hate this airport. Half of the plugs available to people do not function. Screens to not display proper times. Restaurants have poor food quality.
A maze where to go to the terminal you lose 20 minutes by going through the mall ... badly designed
Compared to Frankfurt, Cologne and Dusseldorf friendly and better organized. People of English descent work there and speak English fluently!
Overall nice airport! Expensive car park, a free 1hour pick up spot for cars could be excellent!
Nice enough as airports go. a little hard to access.

It can be accessed by bus, train, taxi.
A budget airport located nowhere near London. The airport is not designed for customer comfort, but to maximise retail space. The airport is operated by buffons who will be exposed as such when there is a major emergency.
Rubbish airport. Long queues and terrible service.
Car park setup is a shambles. Most car parks are closed and they force you to use the premium car park which costs almost double that's if your lucky to even get a space.
Then there is parking which is almost a mile walk away, hardly convenient if you have elderly or children with you.
Absolutely shocking airport would try and avoid travelling from here but sometimes have no choice.
Just a greedy money making airport and prices have just gone up year on year for short stay parking and car park setup is in a dire state. Needs fixing asap.
Unfriendly security staff, rippoff shopping mall, too few counters both at in and out. But Luton is probably even worse. Kind of the ideal neoliberal airport.
Only ever used this airport to pick-up or meet people. Parking is cheaper than some of Britain's other airports and driving to and from the airport is usually hassle free. However inside the terminal the word efficiency is somewhat lacking. There are often horrendous queues which are compounded during aberrant weather. Stansted maybe near to me, but even if they did international fights to the likes of China I would take Terminal 5 at Heathrow every time.

Yesterday at FR1007 with Ryanair ,back from London to Bucharest, horrible.
Security staff were delusional especially the fat indian with glasses. I was checked, stripped, boots down(beause of the zipper!!).
They forget to tell about belts. I took it out and found 3 little coins, i told him to recheck me, he refuses. Telles me to wait in line. Already 40 mins before the luggage was infinite.
What about security? A lot of people were with me, stripped, boots removed, bare naked feet.
They absolutely mocked us.2-3 minites we had to stand each in a X ray cabin, like thiefs or terrorists.
Nothing was found on ANY of course. I took a look on the lil man;s badge, and he was anxious, tells me to move away, but I cut if short for him.
The noext one was the same . I have my watch, jacked, and money, cards, wallet si 2 brackets, by boots were hell atfer another brtacket, and my belt, coins, and ALL paper was asked to put in ANOTHER bag at the cehck. We didn knew where to find them.
Aboslutely no contro, anyone can take anyone's luggage, almost lost my watch.
Never in the world did a see such a disgrace.
Atrocious- went to pick up a friend who had landed; no signposts to arrivals, sneak charges on parking, staff were of no help directing my friend to the pick up point. Disgusting service looking to rob people blind for the most simple of travel necessities. Shame on you, Stanstead
Sat in baggage hall still waiting after an hour for my luggage. No information of course over the speakers. Eventually managed to speak to someone who informed me another 10mins. When will Amazon get into air travel...

Worst airport I've been to!
Nice modern airport.Only used this airport twice in last decade or so.Found experience fairly pleasant with fairly good facilities;however hardly any seating area or electrical charging points and this airport gets very busy in Summer especially with package holidays to Mediterranean destinations with inadequate provision for passengers.Modern shops and food/drink outlets.
Probably the worst airport I've ever been to! We had a flight with a transfer and had to wait at the airport for more than 6 hours. Horror!!! The exit zone was closed, we just had to wait almost outside the outside door; there were just a few seats waiting for the waiting, the temperature was close to the minus, it's not enough if you have to sit somewhere in the corners on the ground, they do not allow you to lie down and fall asleep !! I hope not to come back here anymore !!!
Although i can get there quickly, the length of time you spend at security make it a nightmare. You really need to add 30 minutes extra to allow for this. Also the walk to the gates seem to be very long. The only good thing for me is that from landing i can be home in under an hour.
Would give a minus star if able!!! The fact they permit rip off ATM machines on their property!! They are obviously making money on it too!!!! Charged an extra 45 - 50e than most other places. Will never fly to this airport again

Super annoying airport, which is more an Ikea or a shopping mall than an airport. Taking London City Airport and paying twice, definitely worth it!
The worst airport probably in the world. From 11 pm to 3 am, you can't do check-in. All people, who should take a plane, must stay at the entrance of the airport. There are not enough chairs for anybody, thus people sit on the float and, if someone of these tries to sleep, the staff wake people up.
The worst of all passport control it's a nightmare waiting at the queue for 1 and a half hours mobile telephones reception is awful parking it's almost a mile away from the airport. Is this service for people?
