So unorganised!!! We waited more than 35 minutes at 12:00 am our luggages at the indicated belt while actually they had been sent to an other one!!! When we asked information about what happened to them the info desk suggested, in a bothered manner, to have a look at all the belts around!!! Unbelievable!!!!

The DutyFree Shops area is small, with only a few shops and restaurants. It is not a friendly airport for those waiting for connections that have to stay overnight in the terminal because it gets expensive to go to a hotel just for one night considering the transports you have to take. So there's always lots of passengers laying down on the floor just about anywhere because there are not enough seating places and the ones that exist are completely uncomfortable as you can see in the photo. Just try to take a seat for a couple of minutes and see it for yourself. They are indeed heated but I would prefer a comfortable cold seat than this one. You should expect much more from an international airport with connecting flights worldwide.

Far from London, although good, that is already known ... but the traffic is horrible and despair a little. In the security check they scanned and frisked my two children of 5 and 8 years old. We forgot a bottle of cream in a toiletry bag and did drug control in the cream, suitcase, mobile phone ... And after spending it they make you walk meandering inside the stores. After more stores and when you think they are over, restaurants start. Then a walk to the boarding gate where there is no place to sit. After spending the money they do not care if you're comfortable. Flight delayed, thank goodness or if I do not miss the flight walking around that mall with planes in the background ... I prefer other airports with the boarding gate where you wait, and if you have time you go to stores.

I've been using Stansted Airport for about 10 years now and I can truly say that it is very clean, although it can be quite crowded during busy periods. It's the best airport i've ever been to and I really cannot understand all the complaints people are making. There are always plenty of seats available even if crowded (you just have to look for them!!).

This airport is getting better compared to before. Still think Gatwick is much better. But stansted has more options for food. And it's very close to Cambridge. Stansted is always not as well organized as Gatwick.

Quite a pleasant airport in terms of transport to London (trains, buses), but what is annoying is the endless waiting. First, when you get off the plane, you all have to wait for the bus to move you to the "main" More

Not deserted but plenty of space for badminton ! Supposed to be flying to Lisbon, but after Ryanair's announcement yesterday to waive the fee for flight changes decided to rearrange the flights. As we had already checked in had to be unchecked in before we were able to make any changes on the website. With phone number quoted now no longer in service and online service staff not responding within 2 hours we were left very little choice than to turn up at the airport and get the tickets changed at the Ryanair Service Desk. Thankfully Ed was very helpful and we are now rescheduled to Sept !

Definitely the worst airport in the world. We actively try to use any other London rather than Stansted. Queues at passport control are the longest. So you think well it's taken 30 minutes to get through passport at least my luggage will be there. But no. Another 40 min wait for our bags to show on the board. Plane landed 1 hour and 20 mins ago and we are still waiting for our bags. Don't use Stansted.

Worst of all the London airports. Possibly one of worst in the world. They leave people stranded in planes on runways for house. Leave people waiting for their baggage to be sent to the baggage reclaim area for hours. They are rude and do not have even the slightest care for one single person who passes through their horrible airport. All they care about is the money they get off them. So so badly run.

Don't bother with a young family. The trains between the buildings are down right dangerous. Everyone pushing and children could get lost or crushed. Also bigger delays for families with younger children on return to UK. I shall not be using for family holiday again. Toilets are disgusting. Foreign airports truly show us up!! Much better standards abroad.

Nice shopping mall with great security. Sadly, intended function of this place is being an airport. If I wanted an ikea like maze of shopping opportunities I'd go yo an ikea, not an airport. Pick other one if you value your time.

Can be ok if not too busy but as soon as it nears capacity, it's chaos with seemingly insufficient staff and facilities. It will be awful if they get permission to increase passenger numbers. The pickup drop-off parking charge is miserly and unpleasant. Shops and restaurants are OK. Not enough private lounge and when the airport is busy, you can't get into them anyway. Train connection from London is expensive, slower than it needs to be and not very reliable.

Functional and fast both on arrival and at check in. Maybe all the airports in Italy were like that. Whenever I have to come to London I choose this airport also because RAYANAIR has a perfect quality / price ratio.
Then I don't understand who complains about the distance from the city. With NATIONAL EXPRESS for just over 15 you can go or return in an exact hour from the city center !! In Rome I would put my signature to spend an hour from home to work every day !!

An armpit of an airport if ever there was one. Hopelessly crowded, Ikea-style arrival (you're forced to walk past everything), badly in need of refurbishment in a number of areas. Complements Ryanair nicely ! A bulldozer is the best approach. Avoid if at all possible.

The airport is 55 km northeast of London. He is quite good reachable by bus and train. The Stansted Express will take you from the airport to the center of London in 50 minutes. The airport is mainly used by low budget carriers like Ryanair and EasyJet. There are no seats in the departure lounge. Many travelers are therefore sitting on the ground. The airport seems to be permanently overcrowded. The security check runs smoothly and equates to the duration of other airports. There are many restaurants and shops on the airfield side of the airport. Again, the airport seems overcharged with travelers. Seating is very limited.

horrible airport, nothing but low budget airlines and employees that are not held accountable for anything. customer service is horrible and rude, and no one seems to want to help, whether it in their job title or not. Spent 16 hours in that horrid airport with endless flight delays, and no one giving us any updates. HORRIBLE!!

Very bad passenger circulation within the airport.

Be careful because once you got to first or second terminal (gates1-19 or 20-39) via the transit train, you would not be able to get back to the main Terminal easily.

Since the Gate number is shown very shortly before departure, there would be not enough time to travel to your actuall gate and this would means that you would loose your flight. There is a chance to call the main terminal using a phone provided, however it takes at least 20 minutes to be picked up by a bus and the speed limit of 10mph on the airport road would make the travel time longer.

Only if you are very lucky and you are not flying with a cheap flight, your gate will still open. Otherwise you will be guided through the back doors to exit the departure area and you would need to buy a new ticket.

Even though Stansted has grown significantly over the past few years it seems to be handling the growth very well
Plenty of parking but be warned the long stay car park takes an age to get to and the bus service can be patchy. It's well worth paying a little extra to park closer to the terminal
Big choice of shop's and eateries with the duty free being the main focus as you are forced into a long, winding walk through the concessions on the way to the food area
Prices are high but we have come to expect this at airports these days!!!!

What a fantastic example of inefficiency and incompetence. The whole place is optimised for low speed... Staff are there so you can serve them... Their sanitisers probably give you disease... I'll give it one star for making other London airports look good. Well done, Stansted.

Too few staff in all areas of the airport. Security was a disgrace, half of the stations were manned despite massive queues. Thought that was the worst of it until we were 45 minutes late boarding our flight as stansted hadn't provided anyone to disembark the passengers who had landed on time and then had to sit on the tarmac for over an hour waiting. Shambles of an airport, avoid if at all possible.

Used to be a good airport. Now just too busy. Passport control is now a minimum 30 minute wait.. usually more like 45 - unless you have the good fortune to be from outside the EU (5-10 min queue). Security is massively overstretched - again huge queues. Basically, it's all about big queues and lots of waiting.

Used to like Stansted - now it's just easier to carry on driving to Gatwick. The extended queues and long waits everywhere really add to the overall travel time.

Fly from somewhere else (particularly if you have ...

Fly from somewhere else (particularly if you have young children)!

This has to be the worse airport I've flown from. Long security queues (even early in the morning), not enough seating in the departure lounge and excessive "meandering" through airport shops with hand luggage and tired children to get to a train to take you to your gate. There are steps and escalators all over the place.

At Security:
Long queues as mentioned, with a pushchair you are sent off to a different queue but only when you've already queued for 30+ minutes. They scan all baby milk/water etc so this takes time too.

Also note there is fast track security where you can pay for the privilege of being searched! Which of course means there's no incentive for the airport to improve the ridiculous queues for the rest of us plebs.. and when you read the small print... "Not suitable for passengers travelling with baby paraphernalia" of course not!! That would slow the money making down.

At the gate:

Steps down, which you are forced to queue on. No mention of this from ground crew who can see you have a pushchair, bags and two small children. No help offered. Then you get out onto the runway, have to fold said pushchair whilst people push past you to queue up the steps... Half way up the steps holding a baby and carrying a bag with the guy behind annoyingly trying to push you forwards a member of the cabin crew helps carry the bag up the last few steep steps.

We won't talk about the flight, that is a different review.

Returning to the airport 8 days later:

This time rather than straight up steps you are sent on a long walk that includes going up and down escalators and then up some more... Last one there was a lift but that also involved an extended walk.

Then we got to passport control. Well, there are miles of barriers even though there were only people in a third of them which meant you have to walk 5 times further than necessary. No queuing for the electronic passport gates, but of course no one under 12 can use those so those of us with small children have to queue... Yes that's right, there were about 20 people for non EU every and several hundred of us in the other queue all with small children.

Car parking:
We paid for meet and greet, which is an oxymoron since you aren't met or greeted. But at least it was close to the terminal and the difference in price between that and one with a bus transfer... Well let's just say with 2 small kids, 3 large cases, 4 pieces of hand luggage, 2 car seats and a pushchair... Well the maths didn't add up so meet and greet it was. We had to queue into the airport, it turns out this was something to do with drop off but since the roads close are only single lane it causes tail backs even at 6am. We had to queue to get into parking area and also when we returned we had to queue for 10/15 minutes to collect the key.

All in all, I'm not going back. The airport is not interested in the passenger experience and on the whole the staff we encountered were not particularly polite nor helpful.

Fly from elsewhere.

Cannot understand the need to fit as many repetitive shops in the departures area. Unless it's to squeeze the last drop of money from hapless flyers. Also the essential wait between the boarding gate and the aircraft. No air fractious children. Horrendous.

All in all the airport is ok. Very accurate security check, as a result you must stay quite a long time in queue. It's better to be there in advance. Parking places available close to the main entrance. For those who don't travel but just accompany relatives or friends there isn't a big choice in terms of shops and locals at the entrance, I'd say 90% of them is after the security check.

That of waiting soooo much at the controls or to bill.
Wait to get on the plane at the foot of the runway.
Make a huge detour to go to a part that is next to the entrance.
In short, it has many things to improve.

Many negative reactions, in my experience there is nothing wrong with that. After arriving with a kind of metro brought to the control, it took a bit long. With the Stansted Express brought to the center of London, perfect.
With the departure there was a 10-minute line at customs. Furthermore, enough shops and restaurants behind customs. All in all a great airport.

Once again, stansted outdoes itself. I used to use here a lot until it started to go downhill. Decided to try it again and am now waiting an hour for luggage. Some things never change.

I saw somewhere during the week that this is classed as the third worst airport in the UK with Manchester and luton being the other 2. However I have used luton a lot lately and in fairness it's well better than this place.

Theyve plonked an enormous Christmas tree at arrivals makings it even more difficult to enter the country as it clogs up with people. Toilets are inadequate and not particularly clean. Lack of hospitality ; no one to answer questions and what staff you do find look suicidal.

19/5/2019
Took flight from here today. Departures lounge lacking comfortable seating but the worst thing was having to queue to use the toilets!! Come on this is the 21st century and a supposedly modern country. We should never have to queue .( this was the men's toilets!)

The worst airport I've been to. Practically a place to sit in the middle of the night, full of people whose airport service decided to locate in half and so small part, which made a crowded camp of nomads, whose staff brazenly did not let you fall asleep, have legs stretched or lie sideways. It is not better at hand baggage control. The queue is huge, because gentlemen, every second bag is searched slowly, deeply creating a great queue. From the moment you handed the bag to the plastic box to picking it up from your controller, 40 minutes passed (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Crowds of people dirty through the crowds. At the airport, apart from seating places for people, there is also no place to recharge your phone. There is one outlet in the toilets ........ On the information you can not recharge, in stores the same. What if the flight is not delayed by our fault?
The airport accepts too many flights and departures at one time, we sat for half an hour on the plane and waited for departure.

In general it is fine, however it is true that the lines at the security checkpoint were very long and once I passed it I had to run to the boarding gate because it was already embarking. Apart from this, the staff was mostly friendly but there was a time when a lady at the security checkpoint looked at me badly because I couldn't understand what she was saying, all because of the great noise there was. It has good connections with the center of London, I used the Stansted Express train to transfer me and I was quite comfortable and satisfied with the service.
