RIP OFF ARTISTS! BEWARE - DO NOT GIVE THEM CC/BANK ACCESS
The reviews on Avvo are tightly controlled by the corporate legal industry. Much better to use Yelp or Google instead, although let's admit it all the reviews are controlled at some level. If an attorney is part of their local legal "club" they will not get a bad review. Avvo will find some kind of bogus way to take it down.
Avoid Avvo at all costs. Avvo is quick to sell attorneys a bill of goods, but customer support is completely non-existent. Phone calls either go to a voice mail and the calls never returned or the phone just rings and rings. E-mails to customer support are completely ignored. Of course, someone always answers the sales line, but that person is very sorry about not being able to help with anything other than taking a credit card number. At least the salesperson was honest. Avvo is a sorry company that does not help its customers or support its products.
Great team of tech folks, working on a well defined and clear objective! Pleasure meeting them all!
I had a very bad experience with the lawyer that had good reviews on the Avvo. I wrote a one star review for that lawyer. After some back and forth the Avvo finally published it on their web site, just to take it down a week later. It happened that I found 3 more clients of that scam artist lawyer, that I found through Avvo. The lawyer, Mr. David Harley from Charleston, SC, ripped off 4 clients using the same pattern. When Avvo takes down or not publishing a negative reviews it exposes other clients to the scam artists like the one I am dealing with right now. It is possible that Avvo took down other negative reviews about Mr. Harley, and I became a victim of his scam. I would avoid hiring lawyers from Avvo, their ratings and reviews are not reliable.
Tried writing a review for an attorney I hired that did an excellent job for me only to have Avvo not approve my review.
Here s what I wrote that was not approved with no explanation why.
I am so impressed with David's structure in his law firm. From the first phone call talking me thru the steps in detail, to the follow up emails and final results, I couldn't be happier. I would recommend his service to anyone!
Terrible company for both lawyers and consumers.. pretty much trying to rip off lawyers and not list relevant resources for people searching. Don't use them.
Excellent website, very good experience, and simple to use.
Avvo is a joke of a site......Ive had 4-5 attorneys in my life..My last attorney, this year was the worlds worst..I mean,THE dude should be out of business...He was on the states side, even though i paid him..I mean a absolute joke ,and nightmare combined....Ive tried to put EIGHT 1 star reviews on the POS...And they keep denying them....They wont let you explain anything...I finally JUST emailed them, and said how do i write a nice 1 star review!????? I told them to edit my last submitted review, and have it posted by Monday..Im sick of Avvo, wasting my time, and letting this guy sit up there, without the truth after his name..Hes 23 years in business, and has 0 reviews...Well he needs my truthful 1 star review up YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!! LETS GO!!!

Be VERY CAREFUL. Avvo does delete only the negative reviews that you post that should help other clients ONLY AFTER A WHILE, when you forget about them and don't check on them anymore, even if they were already fully approved and published!!! First they make you go crazy because they will try their hardest to avoid publishing it, then when they run out of excuses and they are forced to publish it, they will be deleting the review after a few months when they think you won't be checking anymore if they deleted the review again or not!
I think it's a scam which sometimes has useful information. But the goal is to get lawyers to sign up for advertisement which is not cheap.
I tried it twice and it was a total failure.
This company does not allow negative reviews on their site so when or if you go to their site to find a lawyer remember what you are seeing is bias and should be taken with a grain of salt as the saying goes!!!
Everytime I write an review about a lawyer, my review was not approved. I followed all the guidelines yet because it was a one star review. It looks like a avvos reviews are biased against client. One will hardly believe if they choose to hire a lawyer based on avvos rating.
