I first met Carl 8 years ago and have made that journey all the way up to the Convent garden salon ever since to top up my highlights, despite there being an Aveda salon only 10 minutes from where I live. Carl has worked wonders with my hair which is particularly difficult to colour ash blonde, and over the years has gently steered me away from various impulsive colour changes which frankly wouldn't have worked! Not only does he really know his stuff as a colourist, it is always lovely to see him and have a good chat and a giggle.

During my recent visit, I was also very impressed with the Covid-19 measures that the salon have put in place since lockdown and felt safe being in there for several hours.

I love Aveda products and colour so decided to take the plunge and have my hair done at the institute. It was a great personal experience despite the assembly line in this busy spa. My hair looks good, but I have to say not the best it's ever done. This is a lovely salon but for me at least, not worth the price.

Have been colouring my hair with Aline and eyebrows with Vanya for years and love them both. The place has a great atmosphere and high quality services! Love the products too. Highly recommend it.

Product and colorists are good! But not often friendly. They do not finish the hair well either. It is kind of pointless just getting a colour and not having your hair blow dried well afterwards. Lazy slopy customer services!

The online booking system is one of the worst I've used and the size of the drinks you are offered whilst waiting are borderline ridiculous, having said that, the actual treatments and experience you have at Aveda is great. The atmosphere is cool with lots going on and it's always busy. Staff are knowledgeable and it's in a great central location.

Just as the lady before stated. Extremely disgusting and racist staff. I witnessed a security guard, approach a black man who came with his partner and ask, "what are you doing here". Then proceeded to put him in in a headlock while multiple members of staff assaulted him. Due to the fact his presence made them uncomfortable. Truly disgusting behavior from Aveda. No apology from the manager, and no customer feedback. Julija Kalinina should be removed from her job immediately for encouraging this sought of behavior amongst her employees.

I had such a great experience here! They are friendly and professional, and I've never left with anything less than wonderful results.They do exactly what you want and more and will always make sure you look your best. Wonderful salon! I was so impressed and I am so thrilled to have cut my hair again in here. Thanks!

I love this place. I ve been a customer for few years now and I m super satisfied.
My journey is about 30-40min and I really don t mind as I can t find the quality anywhere else.
Aline is my colourist and she is just the best! No one has ever got my colour right as perfectly as she does it. Plus she is a great girl and extremely professional.

I have been seeing Carl for years at Aveda and nobody compares to him!! Friendly, professional and so knowledgeable about everything to do with hair colour.

Love the people that work here, and the work they do- I just wish the process was faster. Takes me about 4 hours for a cut and colour.

Like many others, I chose Aveda Salon when I was new in town - because I trusted their brand power (and I used to go to an Aveda salon back home). And I didn't regret !! I did my hair with Greta, she has great skills. Did my volume, layered hairstyle just the way I wanted.
Also, I was impressed by the way the salon manager handled a little mishap that happened to me after the hairstyling. I got locked up in the bathroom cabinet (because the handle was wobbly then fell off). Luckily I wasn't trapped for too long and once I was rescued (?) they helped me calm my nerves by offering an order from the salon cafe (Le Pain Quotidien). Will go again for my haircut !

Fantastic service this evening from a lovely lady who spent time explaining the product I needed to me, and was very patient with my questions. Everyone seemed kind and helpful, and the tea, as always, was flowing.

Good service. Great line of products. Wonderful variety of services provided. My appointment started a little late but it was made last minute while I was travelling through London. The price was in line with other salons but the end result of using Aveda is always worth it. I didn't encounter any problems and my consultant was so attentive! Stop here if you're in the area for a little pampering.

I have been going to this salon for over 5yrs. Even though the colourists and stylists are very good, the customer service and receptionists are quite rude and patronising. My appointments are always messed up and most recently the new salon manager, Owen, threatened me by telling me that he will cancel my appointment and I won't be allowed any appointments in the future after I have been harrassed by 10 calls every day asking me to confirm my appointment in 3 weeks time when I politely told them the first time that I could confirm 2 weeks in advance as I have been asked to do in the first instance. This behaviour was completely out of order and I will not tolerate to pay money only to be bullied, harassed and threatened. Seems like Aveda Institute Holborn does not value loyalty at all and treats existing clients in a very rude, harassing and out of order way. Spare yourself from going there and meeting the incredibly rude salon manager, Owen!

My wife loved the care and the entire experience. One of her best haircut experiences ever. Thank you and the cut makes her look even more beautiful.

I have been coming to Aveda for years now and I always see Carl for my colour and Michael for my cut. My hair was in a bit of a state before these two gems sorted me out - they really care about their job and how your hair health is as well as how it looks. I live a few hours away and I still make the trip every time to see them both and always rebook. I couldn't recommend them each individually more or Aveda - the whole place is fantastic and they've dealt with all the restrictions around Covid amazingly well. Thoroughly thoroughly recommend - Carl and Michael are not only amazing at what they do but they're fab people as well and we always have a bit of a giggle.

Today I booked my appointment hair treatment for dandruff. I told them before I got wedding Tommarow. I really want to do something on my dandruff. They book appiontment for blow dry and smooth treatment for my hair. I think I will do it and they said 96% they will help on ur scalp the blow dry was fine but when I come back on my work then I saw the dry scalp is same. I am not happy. If they haven't not any service for dandruff then don't need to book appiontment. I wasn't go there for blow dry then they asked me only blow dry was ok?? And we didn't charge for u treatment That's not Gud service. I am not happy with that I will never go back.

I visited for the first time yesterday and Beverly cut my hair. I have natutally curly hair and so often stylists aren't really sure what to do with it but this was not the case here. My cut is excellent, one of the best I've had in a very long time. Would highly recommend.

holburn is a good place, been going for years, been advised to try the dubai store they have not only destroyed my hair, when i complaint in london they have barred me from coming. i have grey hairs which are very resistant but after many tries they have succeeded. but service is good when the old manager murela was there.

VERY DISAPPOINTING CLEARLY CUSTOMER SPEAKING IS NOT THE RIGHT THING FOR THEM.THEY BARR YOU.

Went here as part of a group booking, reception staff were incredibly rude and confused about our booking. At one point they started bad mouthing the person who made the booking to us, one of the receptionists was being overly aggressive for the situation.
The only highlight was the technicians were very polite and talented.

No appointments needed is misleading. Called twice for an appointment and I was told they are fully booked out. Why say no appointment needed even and then when I call for appointment it says you are fully booked. That's misleading.

Didn't listen to my request, cut to much hair off. Bad mouthed my barber for giving bad haircuts in the past yet this one is visibly much worse in my opinion. Overpriced and took too long.

Carl has being doing my colour for years now, and he is AMAZING. I couldn't wait to get back to see him after lockdown, he just works magic!

When we first met I had been travelling for a year, and putting all sorts into my hair - he suggested a darker shade for me, and I had so many compliments. I've never looked back! Also my hair always feels in such good condition afterwards which is so important.

Had two treatments there. The salon is very very busy and the reception stuff lacks attention to the customers! They dont seem to know of who you are and what you came for. They are always confused and can missunderstand what you book for! This is not a nice first experience when you go in. The towels which were used for pedicure, were of a nasty greyish white colour so looked like they are old and dirty. The back of my feet is still left rough. I have then came for eyebrow tinting and the lady there said that they are already black. When in reality my eyebrows are clearly brown... she then applied the black colour on them eventhough I asked her for brown... so the result is they look horrible now! To add on all these the prices are high, so you expect a service worth paying for. But here the service along with a atmosphere and customer care are totally NOT WORTH IT! Very dissapointed!!

I had a really bad experience with them this month. I came to London for 4 days only and booked pedicure appointment in advance to surprise my friend for her birthday. The day we got there, the lady at the front desk was not welcoming at all and made us feel u comfortable because they were busy. They said you are 15 minutes late and therefore could not accommodate us. I went back home but still for my friend s sake decided to give it another try because I felt guilty that I failed to male this happened. I booked for Monday which was my last day. The day of they emailed me saying that they can t accommodate both of us, just one person. I obviously didn t go anymore. They have been very unprofessional and unreliable.

Booked a hair appt a week ago. Called to adjust time only to find out its "temporarily closed" . A phone call or text to customers would have been nice. Not a nice way to treat us.

Update - The salon re-opened on the day of my appt and I was lucky that I saw their text in time that morning. I received a personal apology from the manager and a small sorry gift for the hassle. He was sincere so thank you Aveda

I have been getting my hair coloured by Aline for the past three years now, and I'm yet to find someone who can match her balayage skills. The colours she uses and their transition through your hair is incredible. She is so skilled and leaves my hair feeling beautifully nourished and soft after the colouring.

If you are looking for a great haircut, I would highly recommend Chloe. She is really sweet and provides the perfect sharp cut.

Overall, I would highly recommend Aveda. They have always been so professional and welcoming. I honestly couldn't ask for a better service

Saw the (fairly) newly established barbers this week. Very impressed. Excellent cut, not rushed, good feedback and discussion during the haircut as well as a very easy going barber (Stel). Started a bit late, but spent longer than I expected, all for the fixed price. Well worth a visit and competition for some of the more established London shops who charge much more!

Carl has been my colourist at Aveda for over 5 years now, and I wouldn't go anywhere else! He's been absolutely fantastic, and the whole team is really lovely. I'm always well looked after, and everyone knows when I'm feeling social and chatty...versus just in need of some quiet time and R&R. The products are amazing, and facilities are spot on.

Their products are excellent. I have been coming to this salon since 2015 and I love it. I always get my hair done here because I love how they products smell and hairstylist are all super professionals. I get my hair done by Alini and she is awesome at colouring. I always get full head of highlights with her and she never disappoints. It is very expensive, at least for me as I am a full time student. I pay 160 for full head of highlights , no cut. But I will never go anywhere else. get your membership card so you can get a present for your bday. I got a very nice body oil for free.

I enjoyed such a wonderful time today with Aline and Chloe at the hairstyle saloon where I always go to do a very good treatments to my hair. Like always the did a very professional job and I can not wait to go back there again. Many thanks Elena.

Outstanding customer service and treatment. Went to get my hair cut today and had the best experience leaving Aveda relaxed and very happy - absolutely love my hair cut. Everyone at Aveda Govent Garden Spa makes this experience special. Waited at the cafe Le Pain Quotidien which is part of the Spa and has a very lovely ambiente. When it was time for my cut, I was able to discuss my thoughts and possible options first and was given a scalp and shoulder massage before having my hair washed. A great variety of magazines are on offer or you can just relax and enjoy the treatment. Advise on Aveda's fantastic, natural products is on hand and staff will show and recommend what's right for you - it's not pushy at all and very helpful. Can highly recommend it - won't go to any other place for my haircut from now on.

The Aveda products are very bad for the skin and the hair. I had very bad allergies ! Otherwise, the beauty treatments they are not nice because the beauty therapists are always in a rush and stressed. The treatment should be longer and have more care taken. Some hairdressers are very good, the only problem is that the chemicals in the products are very bad. The clients eat lunch from the restaurant (there is a "le pain quotidien" inside Aveda) which is really disgusting and unhygienic during a pedicure or manicure treatment. The call center and the reception staff are useless.. the management is worse.

Went there mid March 2012 for a hair and scalp treatment of 75 minutes. Finished after 35 minutes, nevertheless the reception wanted to charge for the full package?! Only after complaint decreased to half hour price. Uncomfortable chairs, noisy environment (more a gym full of treatments and music then intimate room and silence). I can NOT recommend this location!

Love this place. Great salon for really good prices. Hairdressers in particular are fantastic. Spa less so - I had one unimpressive pedicure and a truly terrible eyebrow wax. The therapist didn't ask what I wanted, just waxed them off and left.

Great customer service. Really recommend back massages. You get such a relaxing treatment and really feel pampered.

Rugile was my hairdresser. She is a lovely, very talented young lady. Her head massage is awesome! I highly can recommend her and I'll definitely return.

Recently moved to London from the US, and I was SO nervous to find a new salon. But Aveda exceeded my expectations. I got a hair cut from a Top Stylist , which is around mid-tier on their price list. He was incredible; even though I was unable to articulate exactly how I wanted my haircut to look, he styled in a way that framed my face very well, and checked all the boxes I asked for!

I recommend, a professional salon, good quality services, it is not cheap, but it's worth it!

I ve visited the salon twice and had wonderful results. I have fine short hair, which sadly has been damaged through a lot of colouring. Aveda were great at transforming my bleached out locks into a more subtle golden blonde. Very happy with the finished look!

An exceptional salon with incredibly professional staff. Half my adult life I ve been colouring my hair - I ve been to many salons in many cities around the world ; Aveda is one of the best I ve been to. I ve just had my third visit and I could be happier- from the moment you step in and you are welcomed, right through to the moment you walk out the door.
Taeho is a hair Colour Technician Extraordinaire ! And Greta does an excellent cut too, together the perfect combination. The Aveda products are excellent and work wonders on my hair and scalp. Can t wait for my next visit.

They cut and color your hair the way they think is best. Totally ignore what you want. You can go to another good standard salon which is much cheaper. The service you pay for and expect is sub par here. There are much better salons in London, so don't be fooled by the brand. Plus they don't do tea of coffee, You have to pay for it yourself at the adjoining cafe.

Always a pleasure to come back to this place. Everyone is do kind and attentive.

Thoroughly recommend colourist Carl who is professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Salon is very spacious and has new, wide individually-screened client areas. Staff wear masks and/or visors. No glossy mags or small cups of distinctive Aveda tea currently (due to Covid), however very relaxing head massages still on tap (today with the lovely "Fats") and a separate cafe at the front has re-opened for all those long colour appointments. Salon is a short, uncrowded walk from a still-quiet Holborn tube station. As an Aveda regular, I'm really pleased the team are back, so much so that I just re-booked for my 4th post-lockdown appointment with Carl. Keep up the great work!

Had an amazing experience at the Aveda Institute as always. Aline has been doing my hair for a few years now. On my first consultation with Aline, I have explained my choice of hair colour and what I was hoping to achieve and with her creative skills I have the right colour and love it. Aline is a master of Balayage, absolutely love my highlights! She always pays full attention to her client s request. I visited AVEDA couple of days a go and was amazed by how organise it was although quit busy. A lady by the entrance advised me to use one of the provided bags, sanitise my hands and took me to the waiting area. I booked for a hair cut with Angelo (he is mainly known to be hair colourist) who met me minutes later. The hair cut was the best I ever had, I got many compliments about it and TBH, Angelo is perfectionist so he did spend some time to make it perfect. I love it and cannot thank Angelo enough <3 I highly recommend this place and especially Angelo, such a sweet personality. I am planning to book him again to colour my hair :)

I love Aveda and have been to a couple of the other salons in London so thought I d try the academy. Went for a consultation, advised wanted to go blonde, as ice blonde as possible. A week later once my appointment came it was like she had totally forgotten and I came out looking like a tiger with orange stripes. Had to go back for a correction which the director just wasn t interested in, put a couple of foils in my hair and that was it. No one apologises when I returned and it was like they wanted to just get rid of me and sent me home with half of my hair wet. Won t be going back

Lovely experience at the Aveda Institute during the pandemic. I was welcomed by a friendly staff and felt safe and reassured during my entire time spent there. I had highlights done by Dave, who has done an amazing job, thorough and precise.Followed by a haircut by Chloe, who has done an excellent job creating the look I wanted. I have received so many compliments on both my haircut and colour. Highly recommended!

I was a regular for highlights and quite happy despite the fact that they are a tad rude and use toner (which I always think is used to hide a bad job). But my last visit 2,5 weeks ago went terribly wrong, Now that the toner has washed out I discovered dark patches and my dark roots are already showing on my parting. Not going back.

Wonderful salon. The best! I love the experience of visiting. Carl for colour is a miracle worker and Kio for cut is extremely talented.

Wonderful post lockdown hair cut with Abi and my daughter had an equally great experience with Zack. All the staff wore visors or masks, clients wore masks and put on their own gowns. Stylists very well spaced out upstairs and a good one way system in and out of the building. I was so happy to have a proper haircut! Also got to visit upstairs at Aveda - a lovely light space. Highly recommended .

Horrible customer service on reservation booking - it's as if they don't want customers... what's changed at Aveda London in the last five years??? Where's that warm Horst welcome gone? Thankfully, Gina Conway (Aveda) salons in Chelsea and Wimbledon are far more helpful to clients.
