The Avalon is a great location for any size wedding. They have multiple room options for various size events. The large ballroom is one of the few places in the Fargo-Moorhead area that can fit 500 people for a seated dinner.

I was here for a conference. The staff was terrific, and they were borderline invisible while presentations were going on. The spaces are beautiful with plenty of variance from one room to the next while sustaining the overall feel of the building.

We had our grooms dinner in the Roosevelt Room and...

We had our grooms dinner in the Roosevelt Room and our wedding reception in the Millennial Ballroom. There's been some change in wedding coordinator staff members during the planning of our event but they've worked hard to make sure we were at ease and our day was perfect! There are definitely some issues that need resolving and room for improvement, however they seemed to be genuinely interested in our feedback which is all I can ask for! Our guests constantly rave about the food and the beautiful venues!

We had my daughter and her husband's reception in the Dakota Room at the Avalon last night. The room was beautiful and the food was excellent. The staff were great to work with especially Brett and Joe. Relay this message to the chef....everyone was commenting how great the food was. Your excellent staff helped make out night run very smoothly. Thanks so much. We really appreciate it!!!

Someone finally spoke up about this place. I had the worse experience with the Avalon with the exception of the food, staff at my event and the one girl who originally helped me plan the event. Once she was completely unable to help me, it went downhill and I was treated with nothing but disrespect. The owner was even rude to me the day of my wedding when I pointed out that nothing was as we planned. Very stressful leading up to the event and even at the event I was constantly bothered. Would not recommend although it was absolutely gorgeous.

If you are a person of a different nationality I would not suggest having a wedding or a wedding reception at this place. This is the third wedding/reception that I have seen the guests and even my own sister get treated with the upmost disrespect.
The first event I went to was my own sisters wedding reception. Throughout the event we had security and management disrespecting all guests wait in the hallways to take pictures and what not with family. After a while they told people that they were not allowed inside the event center and the time was 12 am. Still 2 hours left into the event and half of the guests weren't allowed back in by security and management. To top things off, there was a man who was being disrespectful towards our guests who we asked security to remove but they failed at attempting to remove the man or even trying to communicate with him. The man then continued to cause a scene so we had to escort him out. Keep in mind security is still not helping any of us escort the man out. As soon as we manage to escort the man out of the wedding he started attackig guests and had to be apprehended by the cops that we had called. The time by now is around 1:15 and as we finally returned to the party management told us it was time to shut down because of the incident. Keep in mind that they failed to help us prevent this.
The Second event I went to was to go support a friend of mine who was attending the wedding. This wedding was the same as I saw before. The management doing a poor job of treating the wedding guests with respect.
The third event is the biggest reason I'm writing this review now as to all of the other times I could've written this. I saw them closing the doors and treating the bride and groom with disrespect. Keep in mind this is the bride and the groom. What I noticed was there were two weddings going on this night. One a Muslim wedding, and one a Caucasian wedding. The Muslim wedding having people of many different color, the Caucasian having people of mainly the one color. As I sat in the hallway waiting for the main parts of the wedding to start I noticed the amount of disrespect that the guests of the Muslim wedding were receiving. I saw security and management yelling at people who were looking for which event room the wedding was being held in. I heard them say multiple times that if you're not in the room of the wedding you're going to be asked to leave. When simply some people were just looking to use the bathroom or get some air from the event. What I also noticed was the people of the other wedding event were allowed to walk around feely and not be talked to at all or told any type of warnings. Towards the end of the wedding it is tradition for the bride and groom to leave before the rest of the guests but because they were forced to leave at 1:40 they were forced to walk out with the guests. When it is guaranteed that they are allowed to stay till 2. As we are walking out we are noticing the security guards starting to use aggression towards kicking most people out. They started flickering the switches on their lights and flashing it towards people to get them to leave as they are walking to their cars. Not necessary at all. The part that got to me the most was seeing a group of old ladies in their car trying to drive away and seeing the security guard come towards their car and flicking his flashlight until they drove away. They then started flashing the lights in other people's cars as they were driving away which was also one of the most unnecessary things as people were just trying to leave the event center.
As I said, if you are a person of different color I would suggest not having your wedding here. You'll be treated with respect up until the day of the wedding. Then you'll experience the most disrespect on a day that's supposed filled with nothing but happiness. I hear the Hilton is a great place to have a wedding though. My other sister enjoyed the staff, management, and the food that was served.
All respect to the servers that night tho, thanks for showing respect.

Great Venue, I've attended a lot of events ranging from meetings to galas and it has been top notch. Food is good, service is good and i highly recommend. Currently i'm working on a large event and Brett and his team have been very helpful and have made the process very easy!!!

Attended a fundraising gala last night and chose the beef as entree at $100/plate. Horrible dog food! Chunks of tough cheap meat that seemed a step below stew meat in a gravy over white rice with a side of steamed carrots with no seasoning. Based on serving size, they could have spent just $1 more per person and had a decent sirloin.

Update: My friend had booked his wedding a year in advance here after my mostly positive experience with my wedding (see below). It seems they are still having issues with making good on promises and changing the details. I can't stress enough to make sure you have the important details in writing. It is a very nice venue with many great staff however.

We hosted our wedding at the Avalon Events Center downtown location. We continue to receive compliments on the quality and portions of the food served! There were plenty of great choices and it was difficult to decide what we wanted to serve. The day of the event, the staff was organized, timely and accommodating and ensured that everything went according to plan. Prior to our wedding day, there was some inconsistency and/or miscommunication between staff on some of the details we were told about that led to some feelings of frustration on our part. In the end, they came through for us and we were very pleased with our choice of wedding venue! But, make sure you have all of your important questions about the details that matter most to you prepared in advance so you can have them in writing to prevent any headache.

Between the great customer service, accommodating us last minute on some details, and the attentiveness on the day of the event - we are very satisfied. Thank You especially to Brett, Joe, and Linda! Very good comfortable facility for meetings of all sizes. Multiple meeting rooms. The property was clean and in excellent condition. Dinner served at our meeting was very good and served efficiently. Audio/visual equipment was very good.

We had our reception there a little over a month ago. The staff was friendly, food was very good, but communication within the staff is terrible. When we were there to set up our electronic signs they provide were incorrect and we were missing a table. Some of the linens on the table weren't put on properly and we had to do it ourselves. It's a beautiful place, but hitting all of the finer details needs a little work.

I have never had my own event here, but the ones I attend there is always conflict with their "security" staff. They stole our coolers from our party bus and refused to give them back. They broke a bottle of beer open on the ground and cut a friend of mine's foot. Another friend was invited to two weddings happening at the same time at the Avalon and was told to leave one of them. The venue is really nice, but the staff is incredibly unfriendly and unprofessional.

We made a great choice choosing the Avalon for our wedding reception venue! Planning a wedding during a pandemic is not exactly easy, but Leah and the rest of the Avalon staff made the day absolutely stress free. The manager and Leah checked in with us several times during our event to make sure everything was going smoothly. Leah made sure to be in close communication with all of our vendors so that everyone was on the same page prior to the wedding as well as the day of the event. We had so many compliments from our guests on how beautiful the venue was as well as how friendly/helpful the staff were. I can t thank the Avalon enough for making our wedding reception perfect and stress free!

The Avalon West Ballroom is an amazing venue! Everything about our experience hosting a fundraising event was truly top-notch. The food and dessert was delicious. The staff was wonderful to work with. Their help in setting up the room as we needed it was tremendous. They were as concerned as we were that everything be done perfectly. Besides all of this, the room itself is stunning. There is no other venue in this area that matches up. I highly recommend using the state of the art technology that their room offers. The lighting is so adjustable and could perfectly highlight what needed visibility in the room, and at the same time provide a nice ambience for dinner. The large screen was a nice bonus for our live auction as it does a great job of focusing attention where it needs to be. I highly recommend the Avalon Events Center!

Terrible. Threatened to cancel us11 days before the wedding. Policy change, bad communication, and rotating door of employees are the only constant. Beautiful facility. Terrible management. Horrible experience.

Hi Owner. The bartenders and waitstaff were fabulous. Only a couple hiccups the day of. Unfortunately, repeated broken promises, sudden policy changes, and a revolving door of staff kept us stressed out for a year leading up to our wedding. We have all our plans in writing still and notes of when each plan was approved by the staff and owner and then when it changed, as close to the event as 11 days. We were accused of damage that I had seen in that room 2 weeks before we supposedly caused it. Planning this event was the single most stressful time of my life. If I could go back and do it all over again, I wouldn't even look at the Avalon facilities at all.

Absolutely awesome place for a wedding reception. Everything from the food it to the staff was top-notch. The room we were in was the perfect size for the wedding reception we had. No one complained about anything regarding the venue. The drinks were awesome as well as the food. I like how versatile this places. Anything from birthdays the wedding receptions and just about whatever else you could imagine. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

My husband and I had both our ceremony AND reception in the 'Dakota' at the Avalon West. Everything was perfect! The staff moved and adjusted tables to make way for the isle, and made sure everything was great for our big day! They concentrated on the fine details that I wouldn't have even thought of! They had a very organized check list to go over a few weeks before our big day, and i felt very confident about secure about reaching out and needing to adjust any details needed. Everyone was so professional and kind.

We did go with the pasta buffet which our guests could not stop talking about! The food was so delicious, and there was plenty of it!!

The outside and the inside of the Avalon West was beautiful and we had a lot of amazing shots!

We are so happy we went with the Avalon West for our big day! We couldn't have had a better experience!

This event center was just fine for one of my engagements, but while attending another event there it was next to disastrous. Be very careful when booking this venue. Make sure that there is enough room for both the audience and any kind of backstage needs that you might have.

Good place to host events. Since they opened, I have attended about 15 events here including weddings, company meetings, Christmas parties, and trade shows. Every event is unique but still a bit of the same. Food they cater is good and predictable, changing every so often. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Parking is easy and the facility itself is very well maintained.

My friend had her wedding reception here, which I know they paid a lot of money for and they had several coordinator bumps along the way. The food was so soggy I couldn't believe they served it that way. My husband took a break from the loud DJ music in the room and sat down in a chair in the lobby. One of the 'rent a cops' came up to him and told him he needed to go back to the reception room even though he was just sitting there looking at his phone. Also, don't expect your wine to be served in a wine glass, as the one I ordered came in a plastic punch glass. Instead of moving the tables off the dancefloor they had us get up and they removed our entire table Without warning, so 2/3 of the wedding guests had no where to sit. They had to bring some tables back in after people complained. There would have been more then enough room to just push them aside in the first place. The place's appearance looks nice, but that's as far as it goes in my opinion.

I had the pleasure of attending a work seminar at The Avalon Event Center last week. The Avalon staff did a wonderful job of attending to every need and request we had throughout the two day seminar. They also served us an excellent plated meal both days for lunch.

The leader of the seminar travels across the United States for this sales seminar and even commented multiple times it was one of the most beautiful places he has hosted this event and was extremely impressed with the food.

I highly recommend other companies consider this establishment when looking for somewhere to host their corporate event.

We just completed a two day sales training seminar which we did at the Avalon.

Our trainer that flew in and does trainings like this all year long all over the country commented to me multiple times how great everyone is at the Avalon.

The atmosphere to the food was top notch. Joe was our guy making sure we had everything we needed and did an excellent job.

I would highly recommend contacting the Avalon for your event, big or small. They can help!! Ask for Andy Richards, he will take excellent care of you and get you all set up!! Then ask for Joe to be your Server!!

The facility itself was very nice. The one thing that made a lot of guests upset were the bartenders. Especially this Justin Bieber looking guy working last weekend that was charging people in the beginning of the night when we had open bar for the first hour. Then he would make drinks wrong, and finally when we mentioned any issues to him he was straight up rude. I understand mistakes happen, but don't be rude to customers for your own mistakes.

Fix that issue and your facility will be a 5 star.

I had my wedding reception here in April 2016. The food was fantastic, the room (Dakota) was beautiful, but the staff was not accommodating and that's why I'm giving my experience 3 stars. Hopefully they can find an event coordinator like Kayla because she was fantastic!

EDIT: I received a call from Brett (the Director of Sales) at the Avalon and he wanted more information on my experience and apologized for any issues that happened during our wedding reception. I changed my review from 3 stars to 4 because of this reason. I appreciate them owning up to the mistakes of previous employees and letting me know that they're following up with previous brides/customers as well.

Personal thoughts is this space is a little like a factory warehouse for events. There's no real connections made between staff and renters- it's more like cattle being herded through: your time is 2 the next event is 4.

It's hard to imagine many other venues in the country that can compete with the Avalon. We had our wedding there last year and we were beyond impressed. My favorite part is that the facility is ready to go. That means less time and money spent on decorating. We took that extra cost savings and put it towards the band Front Fenders. And I will say that was the best idea. Having a band was the thing my whole family was talking about the next day. How fun it was. Our goal with our wedding was to make 100 percent of the time about us and about enjoying ourselves. Which means hopefully no distractions. At the Avalon that is exactly what happened. The food, service and facility was turn key and operating with ease so we could just have fun. I have also, hosted business events at the Avalon's smaller spaces and would highly recommend.

From the early planning stages to the last minute minor details the day of, the entire staff at the Avalon were on top of their game to make our special wedding day a night to remember! The event coordinator was very involved and confident that our day would go without a hitch, and he was right! The morning we walked into our room (Dakota), it was absolutely magical. The event coordinator even took the time to help us decorate throughout the room.

The food was exceptionally delicious! And the best part was no palette went unsatisfied as they offered a vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free alternative option, on top of our outstanding pasta buffet for the main course. And for those that partied hard into the night with us, were able to enjoy house made pizzas and other snacks that fueled our dance moves until closing time.

This was the first place we looked at when picking a venue and both knew it would be the last as we couldn't imagine any other venue to host our wedding. You're in good hands with the staff at Avalon West!

We hosted our Daughter's Hindu service and reception this past weekend at the Avelon and it was more than we hoped for!
First of all, Jacki, the event coordinator could not have treated us any better. She seemed like part of the family. The rest of the staff were on top of everything even when the scheduled was disrupted. The food was amazing!!! The prime rib, salmon and sauces were, again so so tasty!!! If I could give them six stars, I would!!!

Wow!!! My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Avalon and let me tell you they were absolutely amazing from the first time we stepped foot in there before we knew we would book there all the way up to the point we hopped in the shuttle to take us to the hotel after the reception. The staff had helped us with our booking from day one and always made us feel as though we were in good hands. Not only was the staff professional throughout the entire process but you can tell they truly care about you. Let s face it getting married is great but some of the process of booking the venue, picking the menu, dj, photographer, and other things that come with planning a wedding can become overwhelming and frustrating! The staff at the Avalon took us through everything step by step and made everything as about as easy as it could get. During the wedding I tried to talk with most of my guests and talked with some even after the wedding and all I heard back from them was how great the food was and that the amount of food served was just incredible. Everything was quality from the soup/salad to the entrees was just out of this world! To go along with the stellar service, great food, and gorgeous venue my husband and I had the time of our lives that we will cherish forever, the price for everything was untouchable compared to any other venue we looked at and I don t think they would have been nearly as good as the Avalon was. It s really great to hear your guests talking about how amazing the wedding/reception was days after the actual wedding. If your looking for just an all around great place to have your wedding or reception at PLEASE look no further than the Avalon! I would recommend this place to any couples looking to plan their big day here. Thank you Avalon and thank you to the entire staff for giving us more than we could ever hope for!

Staff was incredibly nice and super helpful answering all our questions and requests. All our guests raved about the food. The ballrooms are beautiful. Complimentary shuttle service ensured our guests made it to their hotel rooms safely. Everything in one package to make planning a wedding easy. Would recommend.

We had our wedding reception at the Avalon in the Millennium Ballroom and we could not have been happier!!! Valerie was awesome to work with and she was always available to answer all of my questions and concerns. If I didn't like something or wanted something changed, Valerie did exactly that! The Avalon truly respects their clients and will do whatever they can to make your day the absolute best!! I have gotten so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was, how delicious the food was (the pasta buffet was AMAZING) and how well staffed and great the bartenders were for the size of our crowd. I also really like that they have a limo that will take your wedding guests to various hotels in the area so that they don't have to worry about driving or finding a ride home after a night of drinking! I am so impressed with how smooth the night went! I would definitely recommend the Avalon to anyone looking for a beautiful venue to hold their wedding reception or other events!

I have presented at numerous venues for the past thirty-seven years and only on rare occasions have had the pleasure of working with the professionals like you at the Avalon Events Center.

The AV technology, attention to detail, fantastic attitude, meal and beverage service and stellar customer service were far above and beyond what we normally encounter in some of the most supposedly "prestigious" conference locations.

Bad management and cares more about their image ra...

Bad management and cares more about their image rather than pleasing customers. Felt stressed out the entire day while I was getting ready before the ceremony. That's not something a bride wants to go through on her day. The owner and a manager named Kathy were causing issues with my family and vendors, the reason I was stressed out and had to walk out of the brides room to see what was going on. They were showing my room that I rented to a couple on my wedding day, which I did not like. Other than that, the food was really good. And the the reception staff were amazing.
