Good zoo. nice area, you can see the harbour from some locations.
the map is easy to follow with clear animal pictures and good trails, you can do a whole circuit and go off to each section or only see the ones you want to. the animals seem to be well looked after. the keepers are friendly and helpful, I enjoyed the talks.
there is good signage in park, toilets dotted around and a few drinking fountains.
i like the information cards they have next to the enclosures. a fun day :)
Very disappointing ,very hard to get a good view of animals .Lots of closed enclosures and 15 dollars for a disgusting burger.
Animals seemed well looked after, lots of different species and feeding times and special talks throughout the day
Great place to go and see imprisoned animals showing clear signs of distress. I once went here and saw a quokka in an enclosure with an echidna, eating the echidna's spines.
best zoo in the city, well maintained, $1 birthday ticket is superb. plenty of animals to see and the cable car was very enjoying. the shows are outstanding. early arrival recomended if want to go and see all animals. not all places are pram friendly. the food prices are high but good quality.
A beautiful Zoo with a vast variety of exotic and native animals. Has grown into its own throughout its history and truly cares for the animals it displays, and through their exhibits, educates visitors on how to make a beneficial impact upon the world
did the roar and snore program and it was worth every penny
My visit on a weekday midday was awesome. Not crowded. Easy to go aroundto see the animals. nice movie at the theatre too
Beautiful location where you have breathtaking views of the harbor. There's a large variety of animals. The facilities are clean and well organized. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful time, thank you Sydney!!
Fantastic place to have a relax day iutwith lits of fun around
Lots to see and very well laid out. Views toward the city are breathtaking.
Great day out... Definitely need to have the full experience and take the ferry from Circular Quay across.
One of the best Zoos ,I have been too and breathtaking views of Sydney. But getting pricier. One would need a whole day to enjoy and appreciate this Zoo
Athol Bay, great place to anchor and enjoy some of the best views of Sydney
We took snacks with us and eat them as we went around. We sat at about halfway and had lunch. It was a truly lovely day. Beautiful views of the harbour area.
make sure you get a yearly family pass if you have a family ! makes it so easy to drop in at any point and visit!
It's so much fun seeing all the zoo animals!
Warning! Bring a hat, and a water bottle.
I forgot mine and got Sunburned and dehydrated.
It's best to catch the gondola to the top of the zoo and walk back down. That way you're walking downhill.
Unfortunately there's only one free water bubbler at the top of the zoo outside the gift store.
Great Zoo even If I found few animals and had limited time to go to other areas. This place can still be improved from info labels to galleries. To get the most out of the park, come early and watch out for the shows. There are spectacular views from above. If you want to try out the one-way trip sky safari (cable car), you ll have to descend on the ferry boat ports, so prepare to walk downhill. Stairs and wheelchair paths are available, so no need worry. Please see below map for your reference
Disappointing not many animals were around to be seen. I think Perth Zoo seems to be a bit better I know they are working to improve.
Kangaroos, Koalas, Komodo dragons, you ll see them all. Be ready for a long walk
Awesome enclosures
The seal show was well done
Will be back
By far the best zoo ive been to! Absolutely fantastic!
Been here many times and it never manages to disappoint.
Amazing views whilst you check out a great collection of animals. Make sure to make time for the shows- the seal show is great fun and the bird show is too!
Good place to visit with the children. Good day spent.
Went to the roar and snore and it was excellent, we both really enjoyed the experience. The staff are all friendly and passionate about what they do, and you get some cracking views of Sydney at sunrise as a bonus! The zoo gets very busy in the day time, so the exclusivity of the roar and snore experience was lovely.
We visited here on the weekend to attend one of the Twilight concerts which unfortunately was cancelled, at the last moment, due to a illness in the band. We were impressed with the location of the concert, the facilities at the zoo, the parking and how to the zoo organizes these type of events. We packed our own picnic but bought our wine there, as stated in their rules. You pay premium for the alcohol as they have a captive audience. We had bought our wine moments prior to the cancellation announcement. So we stayed for a while to enjoy our wine anyway, enjoying the spectacular view of the harbour.
Nice zoo , i just love it... you can see few unique animals in here...
Great experience. Tents were comfortable enough and the amenities (shower and toilet) were much better than I'd expected. Buffet dinners were of a higher quality than I'd expected as well. Good job Taronga!
Great picnic day out with the grand kids at the zoo, spotted some relos there, highly recommend the visit
The zoo is small, but the main issue is that the construction and lack of visible animals take away from the experience. I would not pay to visit the place again.
The eateries and refreshment stands were also well spaced throughout the park. If there was one drawback there could be a few more bathrooms around.
Came up from Melbourne for a Twilights at Taronga concert. Had a sensational evening!
Very beautiful but during the VIVID you have to extra for the lightshow.
See.... ---> explorerbees <--- on Instagram.
Casual zoo, very large. Prepare to spend 4-5 hours minimum.
Wonderful experience for visiting the Zoo, especially when you bring your kids to here.
The walkabout is somewhat different from zoos of other countries, you can have a close proximity towards the wild animals instead of seeing them in the cage.
As the visiting time for me to here is relatively short, I am forced to miss the adorable show of sea seal. It should be worthwhile to see the show and you should spend a whole day in the zoo instead of being rushed like me.
Great family day out. Really good viewing of the animals and not badly priced if you buy food from the eateries. Book ahead for some of the animal activities and download the app too.
The only reason this zoo gets my two star is the surroundings, views of the harbour . friendly and helpful staff, and the excitement building up from the ferry ride. We felt extremely underwhelmed by the variety of animals - I could hardly see any of them when we were there, the tigers were hiding, one sad bear, two gorillas, few small elephants. The display boxes were old and tired, just overall variety just isn't that great and you'll be lucky if they come out from their hidings in the cage. No dolphin and Seal show because there's only two on the day, which we missed. Many sections of the zoo were closed , full price ticket is close to AU$50, not cheap and What a boring place!
Interesting Zoo on hill slope, very green, nicely arranged trails, rope way to the ferry is very convenient. Aviary were nice too.
Cool place I had a $9 crown larger with 4 monkeys for lunch
Long time, no Taronga. Despite the pandemic, this place is still worth visiting. Although some animals I've seen many years ago are missing, it still retains the same feel, and atmosphere. Taronga has potential to grow, and have more enclosures, but it's still amazing regardless.
The kids and I loved our day out at Taronga Zoo. Lots and lots of walking for little legs but they (aged 3 and 5) managed. We did have to carry little miss 3 from time to time though. The layout at Taronga isn't the best - I do feel like in order to see everything you need to walk past things you've already seen and its easy to miss things. Furthermore if you miss things its hard to go back as the Zoo is built on a hill so you're walking uphill to go back (a bit much for little legs!). Still we had a great day, most of the animals were visible at each enclosure. Our favourite was right at the end where the kids were looking at the seals through a round glass window in the rock wall - the seal came right up to the glass for several minutes. It was magical.
Easy to get to - we just caught the ferry from the city.
Lots of shade, wide paths. Don't buy the hideous, overpriced food, take a picnic lunch. Was upsetting seeing a distressed elephant.
Small but good for kids. Easy to navigate and good shows.
Had an awesome day with the kids. Great fun and the new playground in the middle of goats and sheep is fantastic. Everyone enjoyed it, and on top of it all the shows and feeding sessions are super professional and educational as well. Thinking of getting a yearly pass
I was going to write a big piece on how disappointed my wife and I were, then I read Kirt Bodi's existing review. Mr Bodi took the words right out of my mouth and we concur completely. Perhaps they could tell you PRIOR to purchasing tickets that many of the exhibits are closed?? The views are great but Melnourne zoo is superior.
This is one of the top zoos in the world!! The animals all look healthy and happy and the cages seem really natural and unobtrusive, the free flight bird show is a spectacle to behold!! The birds flying over your head and the way they have trained them is absolutely out of this world!!
I didnt visit this place..... but iw ish to do that....
One starr off for all the construction going on & missing animals, but still a great day out!!
Zoo with a view.. You can't beat it. Get there early if you want to see the koalas though.. They end early.. They need their rest too
Liked it so much we upgraded from a day pass to an annual pass. Orangutans are a must see. We loved the seal show. It was a grey rainy day and a lot of animals stayed indoors but we still enjoyed ourselves! Highly recommend
Although the Zoo is well laid out with good enclosure size. When I took my daughter and her friend there where alot of the big exhibits didn't have animals. No lions no Gorillas No western red Kangaroos. So was disappointed but will go back later on.
Beautiful zoo but every time we go half the place is being renovated so we don't get to see many animals. I think we saw less than half the animals that are there today.
The food is horrendously expensive so definitely take a picnic.
Price is fair.
Always my favourite place to visit in Sydney for a day out! Taronga have an amazing, ethical breeding program, treat their animals with love and respect - they educate and raise awareness about conservation and environmental responsibility in everything they do at the Zoo. They are non for profit, so any money spent in the zoo goes towards the good work they are doing.
I highly recommend the Seal Show and the Bird Show So amazing.
Splendid choice of animals & nice view of the city from the top of the hill
Looking a little tired hasn't changed much. Great for young children
Harbour views, every animal you can think of and a fun, family atmosphere. How do you beat that? Taronga Zoo is one of my favourite places in Sydney. Beautiful trip getting there by ferry or if driving the parking is super convenient. Only down side is that it's quite expensive but there's always deals online.
Was there for a conference through work.
The conference facility views are simply breathtaking.
Unbelievable view of the harbour.
The food they severed was also great and to standard.
Thanks for a good experience!
Amazing for family, beautiful views from city, harbour bridge and opera house.
Even though it was raining most of the day we had a great time. Staff are friendly and helpful.
My friends and I had a sour experience when we first arrived at the park, but the management staff went over and beyond to ensure we left overly satisfied. Coming from the states, I can't imagine going to another zoo our conservation center without the Australian accents. It makes the entire experience over the top. We saw kangaroos!!!!
The Safari section isn't fully open yet but still well worth the trip!
My son and I enjoyed the whole experience. Was lovely to see his face filled with excitement.
Great zoo. Good idea to bring swimmers for the kids as there's a water play area that's a lot of fun (if you have the energy between animals!) Shows are also worth getting to - queues can be long so get there early. Kids loved the penguins - can get right up close to see them through the glass swimming.
Great zoo lots to do and see and great views of the harbor!
Bit disappointing as there were lots of renovations going on. But it was good to see they were updating.
Nice one..ferry ride and zip line add to the experience...good zoo for marsupials .. that's mammals with a pouch , seals show and black swans
Stayed at the New Taronga Retreat in the Zoo.
The family had a really great time. It was their second day open and we can recommend it to anyone wanting a unique experience. The treetop rooms are fantastic. The restaurant is to be complimented on providing five star quality meals, with impeccable service. The tours are really informative and the staff are totally committed to their work and it shows in how they deliver the information. We are already planning our return.
Great experience! Great staff! Takes up a whole day but worth it!
Extremely expensive zoo, with a lot of closed exhibits (under construction or maintenance). Not that much variety and a lot of poorly designed enclosures.
Great view of Sydney though.
Amazing zoo. Great atmosphere, fantastic range of animals and very helpful staff. A must see when you are in Sydney.
Pricey entrance fee @ $47 per adult but plenty to see
I absolutely recommended to all Sydney visitors. it is wonderful zoo.
Please never miss out the view from the Giraffes, opera house and Harbour bridge. Further, I did really enjoyed the Seal show and the Bird show
Lovely family day out staff friendly a lot of steps though
Loved being there and can't wait for the rest of the animals to return.
