Good zoo. nice area, you can see the harbour from some locations.
the map is easy to follow with clear animal pictures and good trails, you can do a whole circuit and go off to each section or only see the ones you want to. the animals seem to be well looked after. the keepers are friendly and helpful, I enjoyed the talks.
there is good signage in park, toilets dotted around and a few drinking fountains.
i like the information cards they have next to the enclosures. a fun day :)

A beautiful Zoo with a vast variety of exotic and native animals. Has grown into its own throughout its history and truly cares for the animals it displays, and through their exhibits, educates visitors on how to make a beneficial impact upon the world

It's so much fun seeing all the zoo animals!

It's so much fun seeing all the zoo animals!

Warning! Bring a hat, and a water bottle.
I forgot mine and got Sunburned and dehydrated.

It's best to catch the gondola to the top of the zoo and walk back down. That way you're walking downhill.

Unfortunately there's only one free water bubbler at the top of the zoo outside the gift store.

Great Zoo even If I found few animals and had limited time to go to other areas. This place can still be improved from info labels to galleries. To get the most out of the park, come early and watch out for the shows. There are spectacular views from above. If you want to try out the one-way trip sky safari (cable car), you ll have to descend on the ferry boat ports, so prepare to walk downhill. Stairs and wheelchair paths are available, so no need worry. Please see below map for your reference

Went to the roar and snore and it was excellent, we both really enjoyed the experience. The staff are all friendly and passionate about what they do, and you get some cracking views of Sydney at sunrise as a bonus! The zoo gets very busy in the day time, so the exclusivity of the roar and snore experience was lovely.

We visited here on the weekend to attend one of the Twilight concerts which unfortunately was cancelled, at the last moment, due to a illness in the band. We were impressed with the location of the concert, the facilities at the zoo, the parking and how to the zoo organizes these type of events. We packed our own picnic but bought our wine there, as stated in their rules. You pay premium for the alcohol as they have a captive audience. We had bought our wine moments prior to the cancellation announcement. So we stayed for a while to enjoy our wine anyway, enjoying the spectacular view of the harbour.

Great experience. Tents were comfortable enough and the amenities (shower and toilet) were much better than I'd expected. Buffet dinners were of a higher quality than I'd expected as well. Good job Taronga!

Wonderful experience for visiting the Zoo, especially when you bring your kids to here.
The walkabout is somewhat different from zoos of other countries, you can have a close proximity towards the wild animals instead of seeing them in the cage.

As the visiting time for me to here is relatively short, I am forced to miss the adorable show of sea seal. It should be worthwhile to see the show and you should spend a whole day in the zoo instead of being rushed like me.

The only reason this zoo gets my two star is the surroundings, views of the harbour . friendly and helpful staff, and the excitement building up from the ferry ride. We felt extremely underwhelmed by the variety of animals - I could hardly see any of them when we were there, the tigers were hiding, one sad bear, two gorillas, few small elephants. The display boxes were old and tired, just overall variety just isn't that great and you'll be lucky if they come out from their hidings in the cage. No dolphin and Seal show because there's only two on the day, which we missed. Many sections of the zoo were closed , full price ticket is close to AU$50, not cheap and What a boring place!

Long time, no Taronga. Despite the pandemic, this place is still worth visiting. Although some animals I've seen many years ago are missing, it still retains the same feel, and atmosphere. Taronga has potential to grow, and have more enclosures, but it's still amazing regardless.

The kids and I loved our day out at Taronga Zoo. Lots and lots of walking for little legs but they (aged 3 and 5) managed. We did have to carry little miss 3 from time to time though. The layout at Taronga isn't the best - I do feel like in order to see everything you need to walk past things you've already seen and its easy to miss things. Furthermore if you miss things its hard to go back as the Zoo is built on a hill so you're walking uphill to go back (a bit much for little legs!). Still we had a great day, most of the animals were visible at each enclosure. Our favourite was right at the end where the kids were looking at the seals through a round glass window in the rock wall - the seal came right up to the glass for several minutes. It was magical.

Easy to get to - we just caught the ferry from the city.

Had an awesome day with the kids. Great fun and the new playground in the middle of goats and sheep is fantastic. Everyone enjoyed it, and on top of it all the shows and feeding sessions are super professional and educational as well. Thinking of getting a yearly pass

I was going to write a big piece on how disappointed my wife and I were, then I read Kirt Bodi's existing review. Mr Bodi took the words right out of my mouth and we concur completely. Perhaps they could tell you PRIOR to purchasing tickets that many of the exhibits are closed?? The views are great but Melnourne zoo is superior.

This is one of the top zoos in the world!! The animals all look healthy and happy and the cages seem really natural and unobtrusive, the free flight bird show is a spectacle to behold!! The birds flying over your head and the way they have trained them is absolutely out of this world!!

Liked it so much we upgraded from a day pass to an annual pass. Orangutans are a must see. We loved the seal show. It was a grey rainy day and a lot of animals stayed indoors but we still enjoyed ourselves! Highly recommend

Beautiful zoo but every time we go half the place is being renovated so we don't get to see many animals. I think we saw less than half the animals that are there today.
The food is horrendously expensive so definitely take a picnic.
Price is fair.

Always my favourite place to visit in Sydney for a day out! Taronga have an amazing, ethical breeding program, treat their animals with love and respect - they educate and raise awareness about conservation and environmental responsibility in everything they do at the Zoo. They are non for profit, so any money spent in the zoo goes towards the good work they are doing.
I highly recommend the Seal Show and the Bird Show So amazing.

Harbour views, every animal you can think of and a fun, family atmosphere. How do you beat that? Taronga Zoo is one of my favourite places in Sydney. Beautiful trip getting there by ferry or if driving the parking is super convenient. Only down side is that it's quite expensive but there's always deals online.

My friends and I had a sour experience when we first arrived at the park, but the management staff went over and beyond to ensure we left overly satisfied. Coming from the states, I can't imagine going to another zoo our conservation center without the Australian accents. It makes the entire experience over the top. We saw kangaroos!!!!

Great zoo. Good idea to bring swimmers for the kids as there's a water play area that's a lot of fun (if you have the energy between animals!) Shows are also worth getting to - queues can be long so get there early. Kids loved the penguins - can get right up close to see them through the glass swimming.

Stayed at the New Taronga Retreat in the Zoo.
The family had a really great time. It was their second day open and we can recommend it to anyone wanting a unique experience. The treetop rooms are fantastic. The restaurant is to be complimented on providing five star quality meals, with impeccable service. The tours are really informative and the staff are totally committed to their work and it shows in how they deliver the information. We are already planning our return.
