Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater (ACL Live) Review

Great venue audio and acoustics bang on. On Sunday, LifeAustin, uses the space, and the church band sound like pro's because of the venues equipment.

My only complaints are that there is no designated smoking area and that drinks are overpriced. This place has great sound, the view from anywhere that I've ever Sat is great, and the hallways are full of cool pictures from past shows.

This is one of my favorite music venues. Not a bad seat in the house but my favorite is the Mezz area, front and center. Great view without all the hustle and bustle of the floor and all the stairs I usually Lyft down there since parking can be hard to find if you don t want to pay an arm and a leg.

The bars seem to be somewhat connected so I was able to open a tab towards the front and they had it upstairs.

Best music venue in Austin. The acoustics is perfect and the available vantage points gives you plenty of places with great views.

Best place for a show. You can turn around for a beer and not miss a beat

Good small venue. Saw Alan Parsons Live Project there. Great show. Decent sized crowd. Lots of parents brought 20 to 30 year old kids with them to teach them about the good music. A good time was had by all.

Always a great time! Intimate setting. Fairly easy to get in and out. Note: save time by bringing small (or no) purse and avoid bag checker... don't forget...no pocket knives either, they wand scan before entering.

Cool, venue - sound was great and the space for general admission was spacious! All Staff we encountered were super friendly!

Great atmosphere, beautiful decor, and really well organized staff! We were in a very long line, probably 100 to 200 people in front of us, and they got to us within ten minutes! The only downside was the seats on the bottom floor. On the one hand, they were comfortable enough so that we were fine for the two hours, but they didn't breathe, so warmth from your body is retained. You're also shoulder to shoulder with the people to the left and right of you, so no personal space. I'm lucky my claustrophobia is mild or it would have been a disaster. All in all pretty happy, just wish we didn't feel so sardine squished.

Got to see Michael Carbonaro live here tonight and it was AMAZING!!! That man has got some skills! Love that he was able to do magic and comedy seemingly together. And the Moody theater is a classic!

Really, really nice venue. Was lucky enough to see one of my favorite bands here and will definitely monitor their lineups for future shows.

Love this venue, on Willie Nelson Blvd next to lake Austin, I personally enjoy the GA standing/dancing on the floor you can sit in the balcony if you like. The staff at the bars where fast and friendly good values considering your at a concert. Don't worry about tricky downtown Austin parking take Uber.. if you don't have Uber app yet get it of the venue website and the give you a 15.00 credit.

This place is a must for a fan of a band that plays here, everytime

They knew they were hosting a nerd convention event because they had video game systems strewn around so you could listen to the FANTASTIC live music while playing traditional favorites. Their catering options are also top notch and we couldn't find an employee that didn't seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Moody continues to disappoint me by letting outside sales scoop up all the tickets!!!!! Why even put a release time to the public? Come on!!!!!

First time at this venue and was very impressed. Online our seats looked far away, but in all actuality the balcony seats were set up to were we felt like we were on stage. Excellent place for a concert.

I went there for a taping of Neko Case. The venue is great, the security is comprehensive and the ambiance, both outside and inside the theater, is impeccable. The acoustics are great and the lighting inside the theater is really good. I don't find any reason for complaint.

I have loved in Austin for 20 years and have never been till the HDTGM Serenity showing, and I was quite impressed with this mini concert hall in the middle of Austin. The seats are comfortable but very close together, so hope your friends wore deodorant!

The performance was just not my taste in music. Most of the audience did like them.

I was very surprised with this venue -- in a good way! I liked how it was open to the outside so you could mingle on the patio furniture while waiting for the music to start. It's intimate without being confining and has great acoustics from anywhere you stand. The bar prices are a little steep, but that is to be expected at any music venue (and for a craft beer junkie).

Best venue in town! I specifically like the accoustics and the number of bars. I never feel like I have to wait long for a drink.

Seating has a great view no matter where you are. It always feels like you are close enough to the action.

Every seat is a great seat in this theater! The acoustics are unreal since the theater was designed for studio recording. Austin City Limits is recorded here and is free to the public via lottery on their website. Everyone should check it out once in their life.

Went to see Lauren Daigle with my daughter Alanna. It was a very organized event and it was a nice pleasant theater. Lauren put on an awesome show! I'm so happy that I was able to get to see her and hear her beautiful voice in person. She is absolutely amazing! Genuine, compassionate and beyond blessed. She generates such positive vibes and she is extremely fun to be around! I enjoyed every minute of this venue! Awesome!

Well this venue is of course nice, but there execution of locking down phones for the Tom Segura show is an absolute joke. We ve been in line over an hour, which is finally starting to crawl, but at this rate we and over 1000+ fans are going to miss our entire show, it s actually quite impressive how poorly and under staffed this entire operation has been executed.

Music Venues: Austin
If you've never been to Austin, chances are still high you've heard about "Austin City Limits". This Austin-icon television show placed Austin on the national map with it's incredible live music broadcast over public television. The original studio was very small and demand to be in the audience was always through the roof. Finally, the show found a new home in the brand new Moody Theater, which shares space with the new W Hotel in downtown Austin. The theater borrows from the House of Blues format, which keeps things intimate with a small venue, but also keeps capacity as high as possible with an upper level balcony. ACL still shoots the show in this theater, but Moody is also used for concerts that are open to the public. It's a great place to see your favorite band or be exposed to the newest musical artist. Great venue. The seating is excellent and the visibility is nearly perfect at every angle.

Nice venue but the seat I booked had an obstructed view (pole in the way) and this was not described when I purchased the seats. Picture shown was taken around the pole in the way.

WONDERFUL venue for live music! It is very cozy and there is not a bad seat in the house. I love the outdoor space upstairs as well , it's a great place to grab a drink before the show starts.

Alice in Chains was one of the best Rock shows I've been to! I've seen Metallica and a lot of other bands but this concert had a certain feel that was just really good. The vibe of the audience was easygoing and wanted to hear songs we knew.. and the band delivered! They ain't old, they REALLY JAM!

So I have never been to this venue before, but I was super impressed. You can 100% tell this venue was designed with music in mind. We had balcony seats all the way on the side and we could still hear and see great. This is still a large venue (I think max capacity is like 3000) but feels way more intimate which is so cool. I drove 5 hours for this concert and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I had the incredible pleasure of experiencing Tony Bennett perform at the Moody Theater and I was simply blown away. The sound quality was outstanding and this venue has bars at every level. There truly is not a bad seat in the house here. The sound system fills this venue supurbly. It was fun to be able to have a cocktail and overlook 2nd street and people watch for a bit before the show. I will be coming back to see another show very soon!

Love this theater. I once had a seat near the very top and it was still an amazing experience. Restrooms and bars are convenient. Awesome service.

Super fun little venue with a giant venue presence. With an increadable lights and sound mixed with a clash of class this place is brings one surprise after another!

Amazing venue! The sound was actually loud, unlike everywhere in Dallas. I live near Dallas and chose to come to ACL Live to see Mastodon, instead of driving 30 minutes to Gas Monkey Grill where Mastodon played on 5/19/17. I have seen 3 shows at Gas Monkey Grill and the sound sucks, unless you are in the middle of the floor, center stage - and even there, the sound didn't sound half as good as it did at ACL Live.

ACL Live has amazing seats, amazing sound and is just an overall cool venue. I will be seeing all of the concerts that I can (even though it's a 4 hour drive for me) at ACL Live. Thanks for a great experience!

Intimate concert hall. Very humble yet comfortable, unique, fun, inviting, and overall excellent! I can't wait to go again. Its nostalgic for me, thinking about all the amazing musicians who have played there. The legends! A must see for anyone in the Austin area.

If you haven't caught a show here you need to. Plain and simple, it is the best intimate setting for a live show. From my experience there is not a bad seat in the place.
