I think the VA San Antonio does the best it can given the circumstances. So many really chronically ill patients flow through this system.
The absolute worst place to be or to watch a loved one be
Liliana Alemeda gets credit for reading a morning devotional for me. And for helping me take care of my cloths and my cat. As a blind person myself I deeply appreciate what she does.
Just like a majority of the other complaints, if you call the VA at Audie Murphy you will be placed on hold for hours on end. I waited 6 weeks for an appointment to be sent to radiology and have to wait another 6 weeks for that appointment. When you call them out on for failing to provide proper care they will blame the other departments. Their is no ownership for being at fault for anything!
Took patient to clinic for an appointment. The GEM Clinic front desk staff were extremely unfriendly, unenthusiastic, and complacent. They acted as if we were irritating them for being there and checking in. The employee/lady that checks in new patients was barking orders at my 85yr old dementia dad and was very rough with her tone, as if she had been working there for years and every patient was just another days work, let's get them in and out. Her tone was extremely rude and not appreciated. I'm a retired AF Colonel (she didn't know that, and probably wouldn't care) and just sat and watched her bark at my dementia father. My assessment is the entire front office staff needs a "Customer Service" REFRESHER Course. That kind of service is what gives the VA system a bad reputation. They need a "undercover" boss to walk through periodically. They will experience the same.
Don't use they're valet parking. They backed into a tree crushing the top of my bed and breaking the tail light. I was told by the on site police that there was no damage to the tree so basically there's nothing they can/will do.
Have helped understand more about PTSD. And how to deal with it daily.
I have been mostly on hold since I started trying to get these people to help me in FEBURARY. So far I am still jun limbo and they can't seem to coordinate a thing. Talk about frustrating. These people want the veterans to go crazy. "YOUR CALL WILL ANSWERED IN THE ."Yeah sure sometime in the future, like next month.
The worst ER experience ever. Dr and staff were so rude. No wonder why veterans don't want to reach out for help. People that are rude and are judgmental have no business working at a place that's supposed to be there to help. I will be posting a video on YouTube on how they treated a patient that was in there. It's disgusting how military veterans get treated after the service they have provided for this country.
However, they really need to revamp this place. Its the most depressing looking hospital I've ever been to.
Dr Ybarra is a life saver she is the only reason I did not kill myself. I love this Doctor she is so direct and caring I just don't get it. I hate myself for what I did in war and yet she cares about me being alive for my family and for some damn strange reason they want me alive too. Hahaha I LIVE
This is the largest case of fraud waste and abuse ever.
I am a volunteer at the VA Hospital for the non-profit organization called Soldiers' Angels. I love walking around and seeing how happy the patients are from their care and how quickly they recover. The patients are always willing to tell you their story and to share their wisdom. Love this place!
Never in my life have I been so disrespected, What king of doctor will not give a patient a prognosis. They give you prescriptions that require a RX, yet your not privileged to get prognosis of your healthcare. Very POOR ATTITUDES, PROCEDURES AND COMMUNICATION
Fast service and very friendly good place to be sick
Worst hospital I have been to. Worst part I used to work here and it has totally gone down hill
My experience was good. Let's see what happens today.
Terrible. Absolutely terrible. Do yourself a favor and use any place but this for your healthcare. I understand why this place is so bad, because the VA does NOT CARE about veterans. I hate this place so much. They never actually help, instead they blame you for their mistakes.
Ever Since President Trump Has Been Jumping Down To The Department Of Veteran Affairs About The Healthcare Situation About Not Taking Proper Care Of The United States Veterans, The VA Hospital Has Been Taking Steps In Adaquate Healthcare Seriously Or So We Think Only Time Will Tell If We Live Long Enough To Find Out
Keep calling, just to be placed on hold.
Just trying to find out if I have a appointment.
This has been the norm for me.
How can help?
By the time my cousin received a proper diagnosis, it was too late. I'm very displeased with the way the system works. My suggestion to our Vets is to not wait to be seen here, pay a civilian doctor, it could save your life.
I have not had any complaints. Nurses are very sweet, caring and professional. Very friendly. Wait time is normal for any medical procedure. Atmosphere is very busy. Waiting room is comfortable. Plenty of plugs, you just have to move chairs to locate. Cafeteria on first floor and a Starbucks. Televisions on wall to keep you occupied.
Great service. Many people coming here so cant complain about time!
My dad had a surgery done they did a great job. Thanks
I have been in the emergency room for 6 hours and I'm yet to be seen. There was 4 people when I came in now there's about 20 people waiting including me.
AUDIE MURPHY is a great hospital staff works hard to help you out. Come in with a positive attitude help them help you. Thank you for all the services you have given me.
I transferred to this VA in June 2017, and it has been a nightmare since day 1. The medical doctors are idiots, for example, I have chronic sinusitis and currently have a sinus infection. The idiot doctor assigned to me will not prescribe an antibiotic. The majority of these people working here need to be fired, and probably should try to shut this VA down. I have had nothing but bad experiences here, and I would rather die then get medical treatment here.
Can't get ahold of anyone to even confirm appointments. I called multiple time to multiple extensions provided on the website, even the operators don't answer the phone and if by a miracle they do some how pick up the phone, they manage to transfer to a line that will constantly ring where no one will pick up the line. This hospital is not operating to the standards that should be deemed expectable.
2/14/18- operator just hung up on me, operator number 22
Love this place. Dont like having to come here but when I do It a always a pleasant experience
Had great service, multiple surgeries and very professional people. Valet parking on the other hand, ruined my fob key, made a report to VA Police, but they took NO responsibility.
I don't understand some of these negative reviews, but anyone can have a bad experience somewhere I suppose. The negative reviews almost convinced me not to bother registering as a new patient from Virginia. I decided to go anyway and went to Audie Murphy last Friday to register. It took about five minutes. It took about 30 minutes to get checked in and seen in the ER for my medications (which they had in stock) until I could get scheduled with a specialist to start a new prescription.
After my documents printed, an ER technician personally escorted me to the pharmacy and explained the process to me, and I was in and out of the pharmacy in less than 10 minutes. Just about everyone in the entire process was very nice, and they were all professional. Everything seemed pretty streamlined and efficient to me. I'd go there any time.
Doctor never showed for appointment.
Cardio unit. They don't care if you live or die.
Came in for my surgery to replace my right shoulder. Orthopedic Clinic staff work their schedule to get me in, the team of doctors examined my case, they explained throughly to me and my wife, they answer all our questions. They are the best! The day before my they called me to confirm my check-in time. Today is surgery the staff did my check-in, they gave us a pager when it was our turn for Pre-OP. In the waiting room there's a TV, a phone and very clean. A VA employee brought snacks and drinks for patient families and it is FREE! The Audie Murphy VA Medical Hospital very systematic. I have ZERO COMPLAINTS!!! The VA services has always provided me with the BEST CARE! We used the valet parking and after surgery they brought the car to my wife. I read some of the 1star reviews and they should leave their attitude at home and bring your gratitude to the hospital or move on to other medical hospitals and see how good they have it here. Check out your medical bills when you leave the VA "0" then check out your medical bills from your other hospital.
