Our first stop on the Transardennaise: we loved it from A to Z! The warm welcome, the vegetarian meal specially prepared for us and delicious, the friendliness of our hosts, the super comfortable room overlooking the garden, the friendly breakfast. Lover of bling bling and fuss, go your way, here, we are banking on authenticity and Ardennes charm! Thanks again :)

Great hotel, very good service and friendly people!
Many different walks from the hotel, spotted deer and boar in the evening. In the village a supermarket and bakery. Breakfast hotel also fine and the restaurant has a varied menu and it tasted really good!
Address to come back,

Terrible stay. The hotel will add unauthorized charges to your credit card. Be careful.

Where do I begin? We arrived 55 minutes before the check in which was at 1730. We were told that we were early and the room wasn t available. Then, within minutes we were informed that it was now available. (This was odd as it is a very small hotel, maybe 10-15 rooms and no cars were in the parking area.) we thanked the lady and went to our room. We discovered the room heat radiators (2) were on the lowest possible setting. No problem, we turned them up to high and expected some warmth. NOT THE CASE! We were very cold that evening and for the first night. The next morning we left to tour the area and left the heat settings on high expecting that when we returned the room would be comfortable. Again, NOT THE CASE. When room service was provided, all of the heat was turned back down. Our room was again frigid as the average temp outside was in the 20 s-30 s. When I went to the front desk and asked for a blanket I was asked why. When I said someone turned the heat down and the room was cold again I was told you had them set to high. It makes it too warm! I was like, what? Then the lady said she would turn it up in the back room. So, know in advance that the temp settings are controlled by the staff and they will tell you if you are cold or not, and then lead you to believe that you can actually turn your temp up or down in the room. Amazingly, by morning, the room was warm.

Room service: Guests should know that there will not be a restocking of hygiene items or coffee/tea, cups from room service each day. When my wife asked, she was taken to a storage room down the hallway, and told she could get whatever she wanted there. We were never told this at check in.

WiFi: From what we could determine, it did not exsist. Nothing was said about it at the front desk. We couldn t find it. Breakfast: Was a fair offering of basic items. However at 9 a plate I would have expected more. We had one breakfast there and chose not to go on day two.

Customer Service: Nonexistent. The staff was at best, somewhat helpful and friendly. That is if they were around. When we checked out no one was there. So, I guess that is why they charged us for our second day of breakfast which we did not have. 9 per plate. They could clearly see on the video cameras that are located at the entry desk that we left BEFORE breakfast was even served, yet fraudulently charged us. Additionally, calls were unanswered, as well as email. I believe in paying for what I recieved, but when thieves steal from me such as this hotel did, they should be identified. Perhaps this was why I observed only 1 other guest our first night, and 2 other guests on our second night. I would not recommend this hotel.

The hotel WILL add unauthorized charges to your bill. They have been reported. I will more than pay for good service and for what I agree for, however when I am charged for what I do not agree or use, that is theft. The individuals that operate this establishment are therefore thieves.

We spent one night with my wife at the Auberge de Lavacherie during our hike in the heart of the Ardennes. What a restful stop it was!
We are vegetarians and the cook has concocted a divine dish following our request. The menu is also full of local meat specialties. The cocktail and mocktail menu is extensive. To top it off, the night was restful and the bedding very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice with local products (jams, yogurt and cheeses). We highly recommend this stopover if you are in the area!

Fantastic little hotel with impeccable service; nothing was too much trouble. Good base for walkers - local guidebooks to borrow on request. Outstanding cuisine; we had 3 course dinner for 6 nights, menu unique (demi pension) every element utterly delicious, locally sourced and no repeats! Look forward to a return visit.
