Atlanta's Belt line is a multi-purpose walkway transformed from an early abandoned railway. The overall project has a total circumference of 22 miles and surrounds the entire city of Atlanta. The value of urban reconstruction is comparable to New York's High Line, but its scale is ten times that of High Line. The activation and transformation of the Belt libe has driven the redevelopment of the urban area, overturned the Ponce City Market and the Krog Market. Over the past decade, it has attracted more than 3 billion US dollars of public and private sector investment. On the Belt line, the government has also planned more than 5,600 public housing units around the trail. If you want to learn more about Atlanta's urban context, Belt line is a must-visit attraction for you to get started quickly!

I love the belt line and what it has done for the city. But the East Side stretch from Piedmont Park to Irwin is far far too dangerously crowded. Walkers make up about 75-90% of the traffic on the belt line whenever I am out there riding. Most walking groups often walk more than half the path wide, are oblivious to bikers and how they are blocking the path. It is impossible for bikers to ride their bikes safely among the crowds. There very clearly needs to be separation of walking paths and bike-only paths. For public safety. It's a very serious problem and has only been escalating since the path opened. Please get more signs out there that alert walkers to be aware of all their surroundings, to only walk 2 people wide, to allow for bikers to pass them within their right lane. And PLEASE do something about this before someone gets seriously hurt. Not only is it not safe, but it also take all the fun out of being outdoors riding your bike. I'm 100% certain I am not the only person of this opinion. It was chaos out there yesterday. Saturday Mar 4.
