I am an individual that really does not like to take unnecessary risks, however with my extreme nearsightedness (-8.00 bilaterally) I felt I needed to do something. In the mornings when I woke up I literally couldn't see well enough to put on the glasses that I have become completely dependent on. Outdoor excursions became hassles with how bulky my frames were, and many facets of my life have gradually become hindered. At this point I consulted Dr. Husain for his recommendations. He discussed at length what my options were and I decided to undergo ASA/PRK, based on the decreased longterm complication rate. He was very patient with me in discussing every question I had (and there were lots) and providing comfort in my decision. Additionally the ancillary support was incredible. Not only patient in addressing concerns, but extremely knowledgable in this field. The day of the surgery he went over how I would feel that day and a detailed account on how progression would occur. He called me the night of my surgery as well as two more times prior to the post op appointment, to ensure I was recovering appropriately. I followed all the instructions I was given and went from 20/800 vision to 20/25 just a week later, further improving ever since. Dr. Husain is not only an expert and seasoned physician, he has a strong passion for the work he does. This is evident in the enthusiasm he displays during office visits, as well as the compassion shown when he calls you on the weekend to check up. Allowing him to perform this procedure could very well be one of the best decisions I have made in my lifetime. If laser correction is something you are debating, I highly advise you to consult with Dr. Husain.
I had custom LASIK and went from 20/200 - 20/15!! The switch from glasses/contacts to this is like the switch from a tube TV to 4k HD - I can't believe how crisp and clear everything is, and I just keep starting out onto the lake behind my house because I can't believe the detail. The recovery is quick and easily manageable if you follow Dr. Husain's instructions. He does work quickly but will completely answer any questions or concerns that you have. He even helped calm me down when I discovered a burst blood vessel on my eye a few days later which I just hadn't noticed until then, doing a little telemedicine from his home phone number. I am 63 years old with diabetes. I had surgery from Dr Husain exactly 5 years ago with -15 eyesight. Today I had my annual checkup. I am still 20-20 with no need of reading glasses or glasses of any kind. This changed my life!! If you are even thinking about improving your eyesight, please see Dr Husain. Husband sees Dr Naveen Husain for 6 mo checks on eye issues from diabetes and has for several years. Appreciate her friendliness and professional attention to the status of his condition. I see Dr Versackas for yearly checkup and so appreciate his excellent bedside manner. The assistants are all very kind and accommodating but I do understand the comments on the office staff. They have been pleasant enough once dealing with me but there s a general feeling of being a nuisance or unwanted interruption when entering the practice. Always unsure which window I should wait at and usually no one speaks up to advise you. Not sure why.
Went in for a consultation on LASIK in spring of 2019, Dr. Husain walked me through what worked for me and that ended up being ASA surgery that we prepped for and scheduled for the summer. He's incredibly open and straightforward on how *you* need to take care of your eyes and it definitely was the advice I needed to stick to the pre and post-care regimen. My vision is beyond what I expected it'd be, the whole office team is very helpful and accommodating and I would (and have been) recommending this office to friends and family!
Dr. Ejaz Husain did my LASIK surgery 11 years ago and I am so thankful and thrilled to report that my vision is still 20/20!! After decades of wearing glasses or contacts it has been so wonderful to no longer need them especially with my active lifestyle! Dr. Husain was INCREDIBLY thorough in explaining the procedure as well as what I could expect during recovery! He is very kind and caring and shows genuine interest as well as desire for every patient to have the very best outcome every time and that has certainly been my experience. I continue to follow with him once a year for my eye exam and have had a great experience every year with everyone in his office. Before having LASIK I saw other providers in the same office and they were excellent as well but switched to Dr. Husain because he is the only one who does LASIK. Terrible experience. The doctor I saw was great, but the billing/reception staff have been nothing but awful. I had just a usual checkup for contacts, nothing major at all. I was told that day in office that my insurance wouldn't cover the exam and that I owed $60. Totally reasonable, and I paid it that day in office, no problem. 3 weeks later, they send me a bill for $350!!! Are you kidding?! I've called the billing department several times, no help. Have been playing phone tag with the manager for 4 days now (as she is never in her office...). Don't go here unless you're prepared to pay an arm and a leg!
Dr. Husain performed Advanced Surface Ablation on both of my eyes in February of 2016 it has been ~ 18 months since that surgery and I could not be happier. I recommend him and this surgery to every single friend I come across who still wears contacts. My vision is better than 20/15; I healed very quickly; and I have had absolutely no negative impacts post recovery. He was incredibly upfront and we met approximately 6 times before surgery and met at least 4 times post-surgery. The laser surgery corrected my vision without needing to cut a flap on my eye. I would highly encourage anyone considering correcting their vision to, at a minimum, meet with Dr. Ejaz Husain and his staff. Please use a groupon for date nights and oil changes don t when you are considering surgery on your eyes. Colin

I am retired. Dr. Versackas has been our ophthalmologist for many years. He diagnosed a condition that required cataract surgery to both eyes. Dr. Husain performed both surgeries a week apart. Dr. Husain and the staffs in both his office and at the surgery center explained the procedures in detail. They also explained what would be covered by Medicare and what would not be covered and why. They answered all my questions, but did not waste my time. Dr. Husain did not delegate this to a subordinate. He answered my questions himself. The results of both surgeries was a success. Associated Ophthalmologists, PC is a class act. Very professional and user friendly. I highly recommend their services.

Their service is terrible! The doctor did the wrong correction and denied responsibility. We have asked for copies of our records since August and still do not have them. They make excuses and do not fix the problem. Very unprofessional!
I have been a patient of Dr. Husain since 1999. I was 20/600 before lasik and after surgery was better than 20/20. I still go see him for my annual eye exam as I know he has my best interest and I trust him with my eye care. I have recommend him to others that have also had great success with their surgeries. I highly recommend Dr. Ejaz Husain. He performed my cataract surgery a year ago and I got the TECNIS Symfony intraocular lenses which corrected my nearsightedness, farsightedness and my astigmatism. Dr. Husain did an excellent job explaining the procedure (which is painless and quick) and he quickly puts you at ease. After wearing gas perm contact lenses for 43 years and wearing readers for the last 15 years, I no longer need either one. How wonderful!!! My vision was 20/20 the day after surgery. It has been truly life changing to be free of the hassle of contact lenses/glasses and readers and well worth the money. He is a very skilled and experienced doctor who cares about his patients. Dr Husain successfully completed my moms eye surgery 11 years ago and she still has 20/20 vision so when I started looking into Lasik I went straight to Associated Ophthalmologists for a consultation. Dr Husain completed my Lasik surgery and my vision is now 20/15! The entire experience was amazing from start to finish. All the prescription drops pre and post op were provided by Dr Husain so there were no hidden expenses. Dr Husain called multiple times post op to be sure that I was doing well and not having any complications. Dr. Versakis deserves a five-star. The office staff deserves a one-star. They are rude and unhelpful. Both my wife and I are considering another practice because of the office staff. This is not a new development, they have been rude for over a decade. The staff needs a thorough training in customer service. They treat patients as if they are doing them a favor.

I recently had cataract surgery with Dr. S. Ejaz Husain. I had the Symfony lense replacement in both eyes and now have 20/20 vision for the first time in my life. I was very happy with the care I received from start to finish with Dr. Husain and his staff.
Dr. Husain did an amazing job on my ASA procedure! I had zero pain and regained around 85% vision in just a few days. I now have 20/15 vision and am so happy that I got the procedure done. I see 20/15 only 6 months after my vision correction ASA procedure with Dr. Husein. I spent 30 yrs dependent on glasses at -7.0 and now nothing! He is very thorough and doesn't take your eyesight lightly - I had no complications and I knew I was in good hands. The office is also great and the people he has working for him - I would give them more stars if I could.
I first met Dr. Ejaz Husain back in 2016. He told me I had cataracts and he could operate right away if I wanted. I told him I needed a year to get my finances in order. No pressure! He was fine with that. I went back in 2017 and scheduled surgery for 2018. I went for the symphony lenses (multifocal). Best decision I've ever made. It's 2020 and I still do not wear glasses anymore. It's worked out so well for me my husband now sees Dr. Husain also. My husband is scheduling sergury for 2021. Great experience would recommend him to anyone.

I had LASIK with Dr. Husain 5 years ago and continue to see him for my yearly eye exams. My vision is still great. A friend of mine went to one of the strip mall places for her LASIK surgery. When she had complications she had to see an optometrist. She needed to have her surgery redone. The only time she saw the surgeon was on the day of surgery. After hearing this I decided to go directly to the best. After all we are born with only one set of eyes and I wanted my surgery to go right the first time. Dr. Husain saw me for all of my preoperative and postoperative appointments personally. His staff are amazing, very knowlegable and answered all of my questions in a way that was easy to understand. My only regret is not having LASIK surgery sooner. I would highly recommend Dr. Husain to anyone seeking laser vision correction.

Started out where I couldn't see normal sized print 6" from my face. Now I'm 20/15! Dr. Husain and his team are fantastic. The surgery was quick and painless and my recovery has been a breeze. Dr. E Husain performed lens replacement surgery 6 years ago. Since then I have never needed glasses of any kind. Vision is still 20/20! Well worth the $$ invested.
I am giving an update since my cataract surgery was done 1 year and a month ago. I am still not wearing glasses and I'm truly excited about this. My check up went great and I still will recommend Dr. Husain and his team for all of your eye care concerns. 7/21/2020. I have been wearing glasses since the second grade. I was told two years ago that I have cataracts and was recommended the Wolf Eye Clinic but I didn't have them do the surgery. Not really sure why but I delayed having it done. I read a post on my Facebook feed that a cousin of mine had her cataract surgery done by Dr. Husain because he had done a fantastic job to allow her to see without glasses. I made the appointment and found out that I needed the surgery right away. Dr. Husain says you can't delay this anymore and how important it was to get it done. I wanted the upgraded lenses but couldn't afford the out of pocket expense plus I couldn't qualify for the financial assistance. Needless to say I have gone with the basic lenses so my health insurance would cover it. My right eye was done on June 4th of this year. Before surgery I was a -17 to a 20/25. Dr. Husain has done a fantastic job with my right lenses and I know that when I have my left eye done on the 10th of June that it will meet my expectations if not go over those expectations. My lenses on my glasses were thick like the bottom of a pip bottle. That is how bad I saw things and having the cataracts makes it even harder for me to see. I am so thankful for Dr. Husain and his team that I would recommend them to help others see better than they do.

He correctly diagnosed my eyes (which were misdiagnosed by someone else 20 years ago), did a procedure on the spot in the office for immediate relief, wrote me an appropriate perscription, and responded to/followed up on my complex questions. My eyes haven't been this free from pain and agitation for years.

As a physician in her 40s, I was nervous about having cataract surgery, given my age and reliance on my eyesight for my career. Dr. Husain calmed my fears, and I had the surgery about 2 months ago. I've got 20/20 vision and am not needing glasses for the first time in almost 4 decades! The whole process was smooth, from pre-op to surgery to post-op. 12 years since Dr Ejaz Husain did my laser vision correction (no flap). Still have great vision - I use "cheaters" for reading small print and in dimly lit areas, but can drive and do most activities without glasses. Very glad to have had the procedure done!

When Wolf Eye Clinic turned me away without any other options, Dr. Husain, in a 2nd opinion, confidently told me he could improve my vision. And he did. He offered me the alternative ASA (PRK) surgery and informed me that it was the best route for my strong script. Wolf clinic didn't mention it. At. All. My vision went from -8 to 20/20. Dr. Husain CHANGED MY LIFE! It took time to heal and he told me to be patient over & over again. He's the real deal folks. I had cataract surgery on both eyes the past 2 Mondays and am extremely happy with the results. Dr. Ejaz Husain is a terrific surgeon but even more important is the way he and his staff treated me. Dr. Husain is Amazing! He is a perfectionist and top in his field. I had the Toric Multifocal IOL implants. The surgery went perfectly as did the recovery. Dr. Husain made sure I had all the instructions when I went home to continue my recovery and he called to make sure I was doing well the evening after each surgery. I could not be happier, Best decision I've ever made.

I highly recommend Dr. Diehl for his contact lens services. There is no one else in the area with his level of expertise in fitting. Doctors have always told me that my eyes are difficult to fit, but he was easily able to find lenses that work very well for me. My contacts feel great and I can see things better than I have in years! I will never go anywhere else for contact lenses.
I recently had cataract surgery. Dr. Husain was my surgeon. For approximately 60 years I wore glasses and recently needed to purchase a new pair of glasses every other year. My last pair cost about $700.00. Without glasses my vision was limited to about 6 inches from my face. After my June 11th surgery, I no longer needed glasses for distance vision and could drive without glasses. I will need glasses for reading and short range vision. I first saw Dr. Husain a year prior to my procedure. I was unsure about options, cost, and if I was eligible for vision correction. The consultation was easy and informative. There was no pressure to commit that day, and for personal reasons I chose to wait another year. When I was ready to re-visit this procedure again in December 2018, it was very seamless. I called to schedule and was able to get on the calendar for February 2019. The staff on the phone were very kind, informative and took their time to explain each step and appointment as we made them. When they told me they would be sending paperwork to me in the mail ahead of time, they were accommodating and sent materials to both my home address and the out of state address I was going to be at over the holidays. Each appointment was straightforward and the steps provided by Dr. Husain and his team made the whole process easy to understand. On the day of the procedure my mom and friend came with me and were able to be with me during the pre-op steps. When it was time for the actual procedure, they were allowed to watch from a monitor and had a staff member there to explain what they were watching. The procedure itself was SO QUICK, non-invasive and pain free. I could immediately see and it was the coolest experience! As warned and prepared for, the recovery days are a bit rough, but 100% worth it. There was never any pain, only minor discomfort and inconvenience but It was short lived. Having ASA has been one of the greatest medical decisions I ve made! I would highly recommend to anyone considering!
Dr. Ejaz Husein performed cataract surgery on both my eyes in May 2016. My first (right) eye is perfect. There is some scarring in my left eye but I feel confident that Dr. Husein will be happy to perform a revision if it seems appropriate. He is a very personable and upbeat doctor. His attitude is one of concern, unlike many doctors who are either cavalier or arrogant. He followed up with me after surgery on both occasions, telephoning me at home those evenings. I had been to another ophthalmologist in Des Moines prior to my first visit to Dr. Husein. I am glad I chose Dr. Husein for my surgery and am, most importantly, so very glad to be reading again. It has been my lifelong pleasure and I am once again able to enjoy it. What I appreciate about my experience: SKILL & EXPERTISE: Dr. Husain s surgical proficiency and dedication to achieving the best possible outcome; NO QUESTIONS LEFT UNANSWERED: the detailed information about the lens options; the pre- and post-op instructions in an easy-to-read format; informed staff who take the time to address any questions and concerns; SCHEDULING: easily and readily able to get appointments when needed; FOLLOW-UP: Dr. Husain s personal phone call the evening of surgery to ensure all is OK and to answer any new questions. This office is the gold standard for eye care. Don t trust your precious gift of eyesight to just anyone. Now, when I wake up each morning, I am in awe of the beautiful world of color and clarity I see. It gives new meaning to looking on the bright side!
Thanks to Dr. Husain I now have excellent vision in both eyes following cataract surgery. Dr. Husain is not only a talented surgeon but he utilizes advanced medical technology to improve vision. He is caring, positive and efficient. I found his support staff to be excellent both at the office and at the surgery center. I feel blessed to have been treated by Dr. Husain.
The experience I had with Dr. Ejaz Husain at Associated Ophthalmologists was outstanding. Dr. Husain is thorough, detailed and has an endearing bedside manner. I had the ASA procedure in March of 2016 and at my 6 month check up my eyes were better than twenty twenty. Everything went as Dr. Husain said it would. He came highly recommended by friends and I would recommend him to anyone looking at corrective laser eye surgery.
Bad experience. Does not deal with patient that have latex allergies - so i was excused, and told to go to broadlawns or iowa city which my insurance does not cover.
Dr Husain and his staff were very professional and thorough. Very easy to talk to and they listened to my concerns. I was at 20/600 and Dr Husain brought my back to 20/20 in both eyes. NO more glasses. Thrilled to death. Thank you to the Dr and his staff..
If you can afford their steep prices they are OK Call to see if insurance will cover most of it first
Dr. Ejaz Husain and everyone on staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Dr. Husain recommended cataract surgery with symfony lens implants to fix my early-onset cataracts (I'm 42) and correct as much as possible of my -15/-14w/astigmatism vision. I was not expecting to have 20/20 vision in both eyes the day following surgery, but I do. I feel like I can see for the first time in my life. Thanks so much to everyone at Associated Opthalmology!
