Located in Ashburn, Virginia, the Ice House is the top indoor ice rink in Northern Virginia. With 2 large indoor surfaces it has more than ample space for the entire family. There are lots of activities to take part in. They have free skate periods throughout the week as well as hockey league play for all ages.

Was not a blast chiller like other ice rinks. Very pleasant, fast service and the ice skates worked very well. Italian restaurant was delicious, food hot and staff friendly. Excellent experience!

Nice facility, very spectator friendly in that there's some space to maneuver and it's not oppressively cold. The bleachers are only on one side of the ice, but that's really the only mark against and it's not that big of a deal.

Wonderful facility and wonderful staff. My son has been skating here since he was 4 years old. We drive 45 mins each way so he can participate in the house league. This facility is extremely organized and well managed. The focus is fun but also team and skill focused.

Rude, rude, rude. The pizza was good from the very inconvenienced staff. Likewise, we made a small purchase from the Shop, which was very well-stocked with good prices, and I felt I needed to apologize to the individual for pulling him away from the soccer match on TV. Can't wait to experience the staff for when we get our tickets!

This place is very nice. I used to go every fridays, the place is well maintained and a staff which is always making sure you are fine for example if you fall the skate monitor will ask "are you ok?" and stand beside so no one will crash into you. If you are looking for a quick, safe ice rink this is for you.

Horrible ice rink! Director never got back to me regarding private lessons. Group lessons are extremely crowded and EXPENSIVE for what you get! Private lessons are done during public sessions which makes it very dangerous when trying to learn and execute skills. Freestyle skate sessions overpriced. On the plus side, the pizza place attached to the arena is very good :) Nonetheless, we are finding a new rink!

We've been to Ashburn Ice for years, and it is our local rink. It is certainly newer and nicer than some drinks, though Kettler in Ballston is certainly a nice rink. The food options for Ashburn Ice are Pomodoro Pizza, with pasta and pizza options, though nothing gluten free. The coaches at Ashburn Ice and teachers for lessons are all excellent. We're into figure skating, so I can't talk to hockey. But they have a nationally ranked synchronized skating team and Theater on Ice team. The staff are all incredibly nice.

They are going through some changes in the freestyle skating sign ups, so we're hoping to see how that pans out. Their pro shop is also focused more on hockey, while the peri so at the Fairfax rink is much more focused on experts in fitting figure skaters. Ashburn is looking to improve the pro shop, and is always looking at ways to keep people interested, especially as more options keep popping up.

Kind of dangerous because their was a bunch of infants skating around and it was easy to hurt them. If your bringing a little child then stay with them on the ice if you can skate. Otherwise it was fun.

GREAT PLACE for the whole family all year around. They've got it all here in one place. Two rinks, pro shop, skate rentals, pizzeria are just some of what they offer. The only thing they need more of are STICK N SHOOT time options at least a few times a week during the daytime. That's the reason they didn't get FIVE STARS rating.

They need buckets for little skaters. The facility was nice though. We were there for a birthday party and stayed as a family for open skate. Our party host was disinterested and minimally helpful-- the party next to ours seemed to have a host who cared a lot more!

Needs to replace Stick and shoot with some pickup hockey. Adult league games are late and there is no communication when the rink schedules get pushed back which is annoying. One easy e-mail to all the captains of the teams would solve that. The zam drivers do a pretty good job though.

We really like the Ashburn Ice House. Both boys took lessons there. Great hockey programs. Lots of open skates. It can get crowded at times; however, the rink has been a great place for our family to hang out and grow.

If you like to ice skate, this place is 100% meant for you! There is a huge ice rink that almost anyone can use. Plus, this place is really fun to visit with friends or family, but it is also a great place if you want to get some practice done. Note: This place can get really crowded so that is something to take in mind. It is also really cold so I suggest bringing a sweater of some sort (this applies to all ice skating rinks). I don't really recommend this to anyone who doesn't properly know ice skating, but it is still worth a try to visit this place. I believe that there may be some ice skating lessons, but I need someone to correct me on that. Another thing to note is that there are no "guards" of any sort that are watching you, so if you are on the younger side, it is best to be under adult supervision.

I m leaving this review to communicate my complain...

I m leaving this review to communicate my complaint about Ashburn Ice House Hockey Director Troy MacCormick. I had two sons that played in the in-house league and I had contacted him regarding my dis-satisfaction with the program. He initially did not respond to me or my concerns.

After numerous attempts to get in contact with him, Mr. MacCormick finally returned my call and I spoke on the phone about my concerns. Mr. MacCormick was extremely rude and arrogant to me. I was consummately polite throughout the call, but Mr. MacCormick nevertheless belittled my concerns and made insulting statements directed to me and my son.

One of the things that most upset me about that call was when he flippantly asked me where would your son even go to play if not here? . I politely replied that Ion had a house league that I could send him there. Mr. MacCormick sarcastically replied yeah, I bet they d take him and chuckled, which I interpreted as meaning my son wasn t worth his time. For me, that was the last straw. I m not going to let anyone talk bad about my son.

I paid a great deal of money to have my sons play hockey at Ashburn Ice House. I have spent a small fortune to send them to multiple programs at Ashburn Ice House over the past five years, in fact. I have never once complained about anything. I contacted Mr. MacCormick with legitimate concerns that arose from my son having a poor experience with the program that he is running.

My son, quite frankly, doesn t want to play hockey anymore as a result of his poor experiences in the house league and I thought that Mr. MacCormick would be sympathetic to that as a coach and a father. I also thought that Ashburn Ice House would want the kids to have the best experience possible and love the sport. I was apparently wrong for thinking that.

I will never spend another dime at Ashburn Ice House. To fully drive home my point, I spent close to $2000 for my sons to play in this in-house league this season. The season is only 25% complete and I still decided to pull both of them out to put them in a different program.

I don t have extra money lying around. This was an extremely difficult decision, but I m not going to send my kids to a program run by an awful human being who doesn t care about them. Neither of my sons will ever step foot in Ashburn Ice House again and I strongly advise anyone reading this to take their children elsewhere as well.

Lots of great programs for groups of all ages. Staff is great and the ice is well maintained. Still having a hard time understanding the schedule. The calendar doesn't always have all the events on it.

The figure skating coaches are very gentle with the kids and the open skate is always a blast. If you get bored, you can always watch some hokey on the 2nd rink and grab a slice of Za at Pomodoro.

No Zamboni until after the public skating session was over, so the surface was rough, bumpy, and had small holes that tripped people over the entire time. Overall, after paying ~$30 for just 2 people, definitely not as fun as it should be.

Another place for families to waste their time and money for the 1% hope their kids will play professional hockey. Should have invested the funds for the kids for 18 years instead. The Ice House is fantastic though, not only at icing your money, but Futures as well.

We loved this place! My daughter commented that she preferred Loudoun Ice because it's less busy, though. Also, I didn't see any of the "walkers" to help people skate. That's the only drawback I saw.

First of all terrible people. I tried to enjoy a high school hockey game but the workers kept on yelling at us to move to different places. The service and organization is atrocious. Definitely would not recommend anyone to come on the viewing stand point for a hockey game.

The Pro Shop at the rink has horrible service. I am here 4 days a week driving 45 minutes just for hockey practice. I left 40 minutes early to get there by 9:15 (close is advertised at 9:30 on Tuesday nights). When i walked in at 9:15, the door to the pro shop said "closed," and there was a guy on his phone at the front desk. I politely knock and get his attention, and he comes over to open the door and talk to me. I tell him that I know what I want and i see it on the shelve right there, and I ask if i could run in and buy it. He responds with "sorry we are closed." I respond by telling him that you aren't supposed to close until 9:30, and point at the hours right next to his head. He tells me that I can't buy anything because he closed down all the computers and such. I watch him go back to his hang out place behind his desk and pull out his phone again. He continues his cell phone addiction until 9:30, when he types something on the computer and leaves. Horrible experience, and the pro shop here has lost a loyal customer. Kettler and Total Hockey are better with better prices anyways.

I only go for the adult programs.

The adult learn to play is top tier. Great coaches and a lot of fun.

The beer leagues here are also some of the best in the area.

I skate here about 5 or 6 days a week and LOVE it. The coaches are amazing, the staff is amazing, just everything about the place is amazing. It can be a little crowded but who cares. I figure skate but I do know how great the hockey team is. The coaches for all hockey teams really know what they are doing and instruct the teams well. I recommend for Figure skating two different teams. I recommend Capitol Theater on Ice and Team Ashburn. They are both completely different but both boost skill level. Both teams are nationally ranked and SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!! COMPLETELY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This middle-aged mamma got booted from her two-minute bench break. You have to be on the ice, not on the bench, I was told. But the rambunctious boys, and people trying to take pix and videos while they skate, and people blocking the tiny doorway go unchecked and uncorrected. THOSE people were ignored by the one monitor. But the mamma who knew her limits and got off the ice immediately when she needed to is the threat to skaters. This place needs some staff training desperately. And allowances for bench breaks. Or more benches at the ice entry point.
