Fun place to eat and enjoy a great drink with your friends and family.
Bar staff is great (saleen). Food is ok. Calamari was terrible. Lol
Drinks are good... always flowing.
Cool atmosphere if you can get there for dinner when it's not too packed, but on weekends it becomes a really trashy bro-bar, complete with awful pop country cover bands.
I love their salads! Great variety of food and drinks.
Nice environment, music at the right volume, not to loud to have a chat with palls. Very tasty chef burger and hot hot chicken wings. Unfortunately no expresso! Thank you Maria for your sympathy!
Loved this place, except for calling itself an Irish Pub yet only having Jameson & Bushmills as the entirety of their Irish whiskeys.
Great vibe to the place. Whether its to sit down for lunch or grab dinner/beer with a group at night, its perfect. Irish guiness stew is absolutely delectable. Expect to spend a good amount of cash for what you get, but it is worth every dollar.
Irish pub with a sports bar atmosphere. Would highly recommend the shepherds pie. Can be a little noisy if you come in on the night of a Patriots or Red Sox game
Average pub food with modestly priced drinks and lots of space. Trivia nights are pretty fun.
great atmosphere, polite pleasant wait staff and live music.
It's a really cool place. I was there for a retirement party, first time there. Staff was crazy friendly. Great food. Good beer. Worth a few visits.
Shepherds pie was quite authentic and tasty. Beef stew was OK. Bangers and mash should not have a Portuguese style sausage. Service was good and attentive.
Good food, great beer selection and super friendly bar tenders
The bleu cheese buffalo wings are phenomenal, especially on 50c Mondays !!! Sweet potato fries are waffle style and come with chipotle ketchup - definitely do try !!!
Great for watching sports with friends back before COVID. Currently it's temporarily closed until Spring 2021.
The bartenders, atmosphere, and quality of drinks were terrific. It was one of the first bars I visited now that I have moved to Boston. If you are looking for a great chill and cool experience I would highly recommend this bar as a must visit!
Quality standard Irish pub food. Full and we'll appointed bar. Atmosphere is really where Asgard sets itself apart.
i don't know if they still have ten cent wings on Monday nights, but if so, it's definitely worth it. as a Buffalonian I completely approve of the wings there.
Okay food, good finger food and drinks with friends on weekends. Noisy in the front. Back side is rather quiet. Too many people sometimes just spoil the mood. Service is unpredictable, sometimes acceptable, sometimes slow...though the place is at an awesome location. Conveniently located near MIT and many big corporate offices. Also near Kendall square and Central square.
Very good food and service. Quite a lot of space to hold meetings.
Food is ok. Can do better but could also do a lot worse
Good selection of drinks on tap, the beef & Guinness stew is delicious, and there's plenty of TV's to watch whatever game is on. Highly recommended.
I've been here a number of times. Beer selection is excellent. Food is typically good Irish pub food. I did have one issue my last visit where a chicken pasta dish didn't actually have any chicken in it. A manager overheard me and immediately offered to either remake the dish or to cook up some chicken on the side and add it...I figured if they remade it it would be less awkward than scraping chicken into my pasta on the table. Unfortunately when it arrived the sauce was very soupy. I ended up just ordering a quesadilla. They did not charge me for the pasta dish, which was a very nice gesture. I will come back again!
Amazing structure! Great service, great food, great people. I recommend to everyone
I really liked to talk and hang out with friends. The food in general is very rich.
If you want mediocrity you will be satisfied. Everything about this place is exactly average.
Lots of space, can accommodate large parties 12-20 deep, food is gourmet tasty, and a few really decent craft beer on tap.
Good place. Good staff. Good for and drinks with friends
Tired really. I guess if you go for a beer it is fine. Cocktails miss the mark. Food is basic.
The American shop! The sake is delicious and the rice is delicious!
Denied service with a valid US ID. Escalated issue to the manager who was wildly unprofessional. My colleague and I left without being served because the simple activity of of trying to patronize this bar was so adversarial. Do not compel this place to anyone.
One star is one too many for The Asgard. My only regret in carrying out this review is that it might negatively impact the kind wait staff.
A small party of friends and I decided to try out this restaurant on a Sunday evening. The pictures online of its decor and cuisine looked quite good, and we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately I think every member of our party left disappointed, and for a host of reasons, but I name only two:
First, no fewer than 20 minutes went by from the time of ordering our drinks to the time of receiving those drinks. To add insult to injury, two of the requested cocktails were unavailable (due to lack of ingredients?), and a third cocktail was made incorrectly.
Second, the food was generally sub-par. A friend's fish and chips was "the worst" he's ever had. The nachos were soggy. Most egregiously a young lady's chicken curry was raw. When this issue was raised to our waitress she was apologetic, but then a manager came back over with the plate and actually had the audacity to dispute whether or not the chicken was in fact raw ("it looks like you ate some of it," "it's been cooked twice already," etc.)! It was, to be brief, one of the most bizarre and unbelievable managerial practices I have ever witnessed. This manager actually accused members of our party of seeking free meals, taking up the role of inquisitor instead of gracious host.
I must issue this stern warning: any who dine at The Asgard, who breach its unassuming carved oak doorway, run the risk of befalling the same miserable fate as we--a ruined Sunday evening. There are far better restaurants of the same ambiance in the area that are worth your patronage.
I had a blast on trivia night my crew again all Harvard and MIT of course we lost...lol
Excellent drinks, but the restaurant is continually dealing with one person shouting over the other.
Delicious, great value, and filling! i came in expecting only pub food but boy was i surprised to see a full menu, 5-pages in total, loaded with amazing eats. I ordered the Mediterranean Salmon Salad -- absolutely delicious, and only around $18. Great service also. the servers were super nice to me, even though i only drank water :)
This is where you go when you have a group of people whose tastes don't align or when you don't want to overthink things. It's not going to blow anyone away, but it's good enough.
This place is pretty cool, but it is mostly just your average pub. It is a little overpriced for only decent food but I still like coming here once in a while to get some beers with friends.
My chicken wasn't micorwaved well and was still a little frozen in the middle. My beer wasn't too skunked.
Meh. This place is expensive, way too popular, and the service is super slow. I also can't really get down with the interior/layout. There's better places to go in Central, and if you're looking for a beer bar specifically, just walk a few blocks to Meadhall in Kendall.
Great atmosphere and nice selection of drinks. Loved the nachos.
We only ate nachos and salad, but both were decent. Very good service
Best onion soup I've ever had in my life. LOVE this place.
Edit: Went back last week - still the best Onion Soup I've had.
We had a large group that we had pre-booked for a wedding after party, but they were horribly understaffed and drinks took longer than 20 minutes to arrive and were sometimes forgotten.
Decent Irish pub with an above average beer selection. Cheap wings on Monday nights - this is popular with the local college crowd so be ready to wait for a seat at the bar.
My girlfriend and I are traveling and walked from Harvard to MIT and stopped in for a beer. We felt bad for not being to hungry but we got the Irish Cod Sandwich and said we were splitting it. Knowing this they split it for us. Which was easier on us. Patrick helped my girlfriend find a local nitro beer which she enjoyed.
Great food, awesome service and Gluten free. My wife would give 10 stars.
If this was an irish pub sometime in it's past, it is not really one now. It's pretty much an "Irish themed" sports bar, with everything you would expect from the second in terms of environment (lots of TV's, polished but uninteresting liquor selection, "average" beer selection, lots of decoration but relatively mall feeling atmosphere). Finally, given that they have mass prepped food, they have a pretty narrow menu. There's nothing wrong with it, but compared to the dozens of truly excellent Cambridge bars, it sort of seems out of place.
Nice place, large and comfortable interiors. Large drinks selection, also nice food options. Seems to be a popular after-work hangout, mostly people in late 20s and up. Many screens with different live sports. Service is occasionally slower at busy times but the staff is always nice and friendly.
Amazing food, friendly staff, and a great little place in Cambridge! I can't wait to go back!
Great food! nice atmosphere and the staff was really nice :) perfect place to feel a little bit like a viking haha
Great service and selection for an Irish pub. Food was great
The food is fine quality for an Irish pub, and the heavy oak finishes provide nice atmosphere. We were disappointing with the services. We came as a large group with a reservation taking several tables. The staff had difficulty remembering who ordered what and brought some dishes to the wrong tables, so we were not all served at the same time. This bills were also quite confusing. I had my drink, appetizer, and main spread out over three different bills, which made it quite difficult to pay.
Ok food. Comfortable chairs for some tables but the service was kind of slow.
I've only eaten here a few times. The food is satisfactory at best, and not really Irish, but gets a good crowd and if you are a fan of basic pub grub you will like it.
Food was good, service could have been better. Waitress gave everyone the wrong drinks and plates.
Mediocre drink list, nice staff, decent warm atmosphere.
We had food and drinks mid- to late-afternoon; would go again. The bartenders are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Would recommend for drinks as well
Just ok. The majority of the food wasn't Irish pub in nature. That said, the items that were were quite good.
The place has a nice aesthetic and very spacious - it seemed like a good place to get drinks and dinner. However, although the beer list was quite extensive, when myself and members of my party asked to order the simplest of cocktails we were told that the bar could not make them. Furthermore, food was less than average if we were lucky to actually receive what we ordered. I ordered the clam chowder and fish and chips, did not receive a CLAM chowder, instead some other type of chowder, and the fish and chips (a pretty simple dish) was awful.
To add insult to injury one of the members at our table ordered the chicken curry, where she then found only two pieces of chicken in the entire dish and both were raw/uncooked. When this was brought up to the waitress she was very apologetic and attempted to handle the situation professionally. Instead we were greeted by what looked like a member of the managerial staff who interrogated the person at our table asking why they would eat the chicken if it was raw and attempting to insinuate that she was just looking for a free meal. Very unprofessional and with my experience in the restaurant industry, not the way to handle the situation all.
Will never come back as a result of poor management (our waiters were fine) and way below average food.
Great drinks and environment. A place to go after work
Great selection of beers on tap and a decent menu. Lively place with friendly locals you can chit chat to, at the bar.
Tried the Reuben sandwich, and it was delicious. Nom nom!
Trivia on Tuesdays is a blast. Grab a beer and shepherd's pie. Very spacious, so seating is rarely a problem.
Great place to get drinks and finger food with ppl after work
Great atmosphere. Food was pretty good. We had the tater tots, chicken ceasar salad and the fish sandwich. Over all pretty good. Good service and good drinks.
Very spacious which allows for a nice balance of busy but also comfortable. It gives off a really nice vibe with the architecture and the decor. A lot of great areas to sit with groups and the setup and layout of the restaurant makes for a great experience. I definitely want to go back when I have more time.
It's the good luck spot for championship games! Ronald and Johnald approved..
We were there celebrating a 30th birthday for my niece. So much fun!! The band wasn't your traditional Irish music yet were excellent!!
Went for drinks and nachos.. the place has a nice vibe, would go next time
Kinda busy, but they have a pretty reason able beer selection and their Mexican and burgers are pretty good.
