My family had a terrible experience with ARH and BCB. We are in litigation.
We signed a contract to build our dream home in May 2014 with Arthur Rutenberg Homes (ARH).
BCB was the local builder. BCB made multiple false statements regarding their ability to build the house, their relationship with our subdivision and ARH. BCB represented they were part of ARH s. ARH s does not backstop BCB faulty workmanship. Our development removed BCB/Arthur Rutenberg Homes from the approved builders list.
In our contract BCB guaranteed the AR Homes gold standard agreement ARH-BCB did not meet the promised guarantee. AR Homes is not a licensed home builder in the state of Florida.
ARH/BCB had a difficult time building the house. In September 2015, an ARH worker assaulted my wife, several witnesses were present. ARH nor BCB did not apologize, nor remove the worker or vendor. On October 19, 2015 Brian Baber, BCB President, made a demand for additional dollars outside the contract and threated to file a lien for the full amount of the contract less payments.
On October 21, 2015 BCB/Baber filed his first of two liens for the full amount of the contract less payments to ARH BCB. ARH/BCB abandoned the house and did not return to the job. Additionally, BCB encouraged other Vendors to file liens. Because of the Willfully Fraudulent Lien(s) filed by BCB and Bad Workmanship we had additional cost and problems finding a new builder, getting a loan, and seeking insurance coverage.
The house had many problems, and we are currently in litigation for:
Fraud
Breach of Contract
MOLD, two failed MOLD Test
Bad Construction
Willfully Fraudulent Lien

Florida Section 713 Lien Law is designed to protect the Home Builder, however in this case BCB/Baber used Section 713 as Weapon to Extract Additional Dollars for us to continue the Home Build Process. The courts agreed and granted us a Judgment.

Building with Arthur Rutenberg has been the most horrendous experience. Buyer Beware! I closed on my house with them in March 2017 (Tampa Bay, FL). You will not get what they promise you and they will continually throw the "contract" in your face. Corporate has no control over their franchises so don't try to ask them to rectify anything which is blatantly wrong. For example, my wife and I asked for the same elevation seen in one of their models and in their publications. The final elevation is anything but. They are out for the bottom line: profit and could care less about the quality of their product. According to them, there is an industry standard to the gaps between their base boards and wood flooring. In other words, it is OK to have gaps everywhere because they say so. If you're building in Tampa Bay - choose someone else. The quality control leaves everything to be desired.

An Arthur Rutenberg contractor took $102,000 to start our home. He stopped construction at all homes and never began ours. There are 13 other families that have paid large sums for work never completed. AR CEO Frank Pizzica has been quoted in the press saying he is reaching out to the families to help. This is false. He is denying all responsibilities and not returning phone calls. Beware. They post pretty pictures and make promises of standing behind their builders and working with you for your dream home but they robbed us of our dreams.

Building my home with Lyons Heritage (Arthur Rutenberg franchise) was the most horrific and stressful experience of my life. My wife and I recently completed our home with Lyons Heritage in Champions Club (Trinity, FL). If you re looking to spend two (2) years of your life extremely unhappy you have found the right place. They tout themselves to be custom home builder but they are far from this. My wife and I combined the plans of the Amalfi model and the Gulfport. Lyons Heritage had to reengineer the 2nd floor of our house multiple times including the HVAC system because they could not anticipate anything outside of the plans/homes that they usually construct. The most frustrating thing is that we had to argue with them for months before anything was changed. Moreover, my wife and I acted like the superintendent. There were so many mistakes in the construction process it would be scary to see what the final result would have been if we were not on site checking over the subcontractor s work. Lyons Heritage is a franchise of Arthur Rutenberg. The issues with Lyons Heritage got so bad that we even called Corporate and had to go above the President, Lori Garton and reach out to the owner, Bobby Lyons. Speaking with the owner Bobby Lyons was a horrible experience as well. He was condescending and frankly unprofessional. Bottom line: POOR COMMUNICATION, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, INCONSISTENT PRICING AND PRICE GOUGING.

I worked for Arthur Rutenberg Homes as
Estimater for 2 years from July 9th 2002 until July 9th 2004. I know back then
they were an excellent company to work for and the separate Franchise's had great reviews. I loved working there but I had health problems and had to leave.
