Beautifully taken care of. Staff is friendly and full of information. Indoor activity center is great for all ages. Mile and a half boardwalk is an easy walk and the trees provide great shade. **Might want to bring a bug spray. I had a picnic at the benches- & something got me.

Do NOT confuse this location with the "Wild and Scenic" canoe trail through another section of Loxahatchee about 50 miles further north, just outside Jupiter. The water here is nice, clear, but the wildlife is mostly tall-grass-water based. Lots of Moorhens, and little else. Alligators rare, birds rare, fish and turtles largely not visible.

If you want a whole different, much more challenging canoe experience, with a lot more visible wildlife, go to "Canoe outfitters of Florida" just off Indiantown road, 5 miles west of the Jupiter exit of I 95, about 50 miles north. The ecosystem starts as a mature Cypress forest with a very small stream. The stream actually includes two small (1-2 foot) waterfalls; they might be the only waterfalls in S. Florida! About 4 -5 miles it widens in to a bay area, with a mix of fresh and salt. There's also a camp built by an early 20th century hermit that's a nice stop.

Awesome place to visit!! The board walk is amazing! We saw a few snakes sun bathing..turtles..pig frogs...and the staff at the visitor center were very helpful and enjoyable to talk with. They have a interactive night in the everglades..and airboat ride! Across the street was a very peaceful and beautiful place to go hiking! WE COULD HEAR THE HUM OF ACTUAL HONEY BEES! Just doing what God created them to do! I hope this land stays untouched for many long years!!!!!

Nice little park with a canoe launch and rentals, a walking path, and a cypress swamp boardwalk. Close to residential areas but still encased in nature at edge of sawgrass swamp. The cypress swamp boardwalk was beautiful.

This is one of my favorite places for snapping amazing sunsets and wildlife. I love coming to hike or bike. I've never explored the water trails but that's because I don't want to do it by myself and since I'm almost always alone (unless I have my boys) when I visit, the water trails are a no-go for me.

There's a boardwalk behind the visitor's center, along with a butterfly garden out front. You'll find many walking trails worth exploring because you never know what you're going to find. Wear bug spray if you're coming near sunset. The bugs tend to come to life around that time. I've never been here early in the morning but you probably need to wear it around then too. The gates automatically open at 5 am and close at 10 pm, so you need to be out before then.

Since this is far west in The Delray area it offers gorgeous sunsets but beware of mosquitos. So where long sleeves or big spray to really enjoy the sunset. You can also canoe or kayak but these are alligator infested waters so beware and do so at ypur own risk. They even offer midnight kayaking here! There are also ramps for you airboat or fishing boat. Ive caught a few fish here in the past.

Great place for runners, bird watching, or just getting out and enjoying nature. Never used the kayak rental place, but it looks pretty neat.

My advice: bug spray/and or long sleeves, there are horse flys, mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and other bitey insects that can eat you alive.

We saw a roseate spoonbill and a pair of Sandhill cranes. There are lots of interactive exhibits in the visitors center. You can see several types of habitats easily without a lot of walking.

Nice nature preserve next to Everglades. Great for bike riding. Lots of gators. If you don't bother them they won't bother you. Keep a handle on your pets and kids. All kinds of bird species. Bring binoculars.

This park is truly a gem. There are four distinct areas to explore with the boardwalk and levy being my favorites and each will offer a different experience every time as well as hosting different animals depending on the time of day. The kayak rental is decently priced and offers a very cool way to explore the wetland and see TONS of gators. Very early morning and sunset will offer spectacular views as well. Highly recommend but avoid the weekend as loud, screaming kids will ruin the experience for some.

Great boardwalk into cypress swamp for all ages. Midday on recent hot afternoon was not best time for wildlife observation. We returned several days later at 9:30 AM and rented a double kayak and spent about 3 hours kayaking on the designated 5.5 mile canoe trail. Saw four gators and lots of birds along the route. If you like to kayak in the wild, this place is a definite go to place. Early morning probably best time & bring lots of water, hat, bug spray, and sun screen.

What a marvelous way to spend a couple of hours out in nature with family and friends. You can witness many species of birds and reptiles while in the park. Parking was an issue. We had to wait for an available spot and that's why the place received 4 out of 5 stars. For someone who is highly allergic to bees and wasps, I appreciated the signs. I was comforted by the fact that no bees or wasps wee visible today but it also isn't the season. Go out and have some fun

The kayak trails require a 10 foot flag. They re available to rent for $10 but they didn t fit our kayak. The canoe / kayak trail was very overgrown with lily pads and difficult to get through. We only went about 1/3 of the way and back in 4 hours.

A great scenic nature walk for families, bird watc...

A great scenic nature walk for families, bird watchers, nature photographers, anglers, or anyone wanting to enjoy what Florida has to offer. Before visiting, you will wan to make sure you have cash on hand to pay the park entrance, as well as a pen so you can write down your info on the pay slip. The entrance fee is on the honor system and you deposit your cash in an envelope into a receptacle at the gate. They also don't provide pens or pencils to write your info. The marsh trail is a gorgeous walking trail. The park does offer some guided tours on a golf cart, but its best done by foot. There's tons of wildlife to be seen. There are small canals that run along the trail, and I've caught a lot of bass in them at times. There WILL be alligators in the small canals right next to the trail. They don't bother you at all unless you catch a fish. Then they come looking for an easy meal (your fish, not you). Be prepared to come relatively close to the gators, but as long as you observe and don't do anything foolish, they just sit like statues. The boat ramp can get crowded on the weekends. Week days are usually pretty tame. Lots of pleasure craft flock to the water on the weekends, so if you plan on fishing, keep in mind you will cross paths with boaters that are not up to speed on proper boating etiquette when passing another boat who's fishing. The levee is great for riding bikes. You can go farrrrrrrrrr. You can go from Boca Raton, all the way to West Palm Beach on the levee, so plan accordingly. There are other trails that run north from the main entrance road. These are also good too for hiking and mountain biking. The horse flies can get quite bad at certain times of year, and they seem to be impervious to bug repellant. If you keep moving its not so bad. There are farms and a lot of private land surrounding the area, so its not uncommon to hear the landowners partaking in some target practice with firearms. Don't be alarmed. The woods between the trail and their land provides a huge backstop. You'd have a greater chance of getting struck by lightning twice than an incident with pass through occurring. I can't comment on the restroom situation as nature's never called during my visits, but don't expect there to be many amenities. There's a kayak rental business near the boat ramp as well. The kayak trail is quite long. If you're not experienced it can take a long time to complete the trail. If you do plan on tackling the trail, get there early, pack some drinks and lunch, and you'll do fine. The difficult part about the kayak trail are the lily pads. They create a lot of friction on the kayak and require some effort to paddle through. There can be long sections covered in pads. Otherwise its a great paddle in some gorgeous scenery. Overall this is one of my top nature trails/parks in Palm Beach County to visit.

Great place to see a variety of birds, reptiles, mammals. We saw snakes, herons, anhinga, alligator, song birds, a deer, and a raccoon. Walk the cypress boardwalk and around the grassy wetlands. Bring a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, camera, binoculars and your quiet patience to experience the Everglades in Palm Beach County.

Amazing wildlife nature park. Very well maintained. The desk people are extremely friendly and patient. This is a national park and a treasure. Lots of things to do. Board walk with tall Cypress trees. A must see for South Florida visitors. Don't miss the virtual tour of the Air boat rides. Very informative. A nice small gift store with lots of interesting things. Lots of free parking.

Great place to go if you need to get away from the City. Wish there were more of these places in South Florida. Lots of hiking, trails, bike paths, places to fish. Very neat preserve, get a feel of what south Florida once looked like.

Awesome park to go to. Preferably early in the morning (before sunrise!) or the late afternoon and evening to see birds and other wildlife. Great boardwalk through the cypress swamp behind visitors center. Other side of the park offers many walking and biking trails. On the west side you can kayak or launch your boat or ride a bike along the channel.
