The place is terrible.... The ladies who work there are arrogant and not helpful at all. My grandmother was not even allowed to use their toilets for an emergency. They have a sign up...Forbids anyone to use bathroom...even visitors to their shoddy studios. Check out this review from my friend......Being here for several years, I've taken a few classes at this center. They have great resources, and many art supplies you need can be purchased right here, so it is very convenient. The only issue I have however, and this is why I only gave 1 star, is that although "most" of the staff in the office/art supply store are professional and helpful, there is one particular woman (in her late 40's, dark straight hair) who consistently has a chip on her shoulder and can be VERY unprofessional. I've heard her on numerous occasions condescend and come off quite sarcastic with the customers who are looking to sign-up or inquire about the centers services, and most recently with me in front of several friends who were visiting the gallery. Going to also contact the board about this woman. If not for that, I would rate the SI Art Lab at Snug Harbor a 4. The amount of money they charge for their classes I think they should keep a better tab on the professionalism of the staff, especially in light of the fact (from what I'm told by their own staff) that membership has been trending down over the years.
Bad practice when it comes to professional and reliable models! I worked my butt off as a figure model at Art Lab since 2006 and I have been lied too! Since the new model coordinator took over my bookings dropped to 97%! Yes the complex is beautiful and most of the teachers are knowledgeable and really nice to work with however I do feel that I was not treated properly towards the end. If I am guilty of speaking out well so be it!
