This is the best pub on the planet. Kathy and John are fantastic hosts with an efficient well trained team. The beer garden and grounds are huge! We travel every year from Liverpool for their annual Hawiian shirt beer festival and it's one of my favourite days of the year you can even camp highly reccomend. The food is top notch too!!

Great value for money meals. Good selection of beers. Staff make sure you feel at home. It is nice to find a traditional pub atmosphere not spoilt by the times as so many others have been recently.

We will definitely return soon.

Upon return it just gets better and better. Service is excellent. Can't say enough good things about this pub. I am a regular visitor now and still they make the effort to make you feel special.

Those bad review are shocking. The food is amazing, bar staff are so friendly and they make you feel at home. If you smoke where else are you meant to go other than outside? I am a regular at this pub and its fantastic. So if you dont like this pub your lost, those review are so old and so much have improved. I love Arkwright Arms

Four of us went for a meal today lunchtime, waited over half an hour for the meals, all came on cold very cold plates. My beef lasagne was not cooked the bechamel sauce was just like milk. Sent it back with the salad and garlic bread to be replaced, they sent the plate back with garlic bread and salad on and was told my lasagne would be 10 to 15 minutes, it didn't appear. All three others friends had finished their meals, not really enjoyed them, so we left it at that. Nobody. Came and apologised, and when we went to say the bill which we refused to pay for beef lasagne meal still no apology. Shocking!

Went here as was recommended dog friendly, but there is a separate room round the side of the pub. NOT impressed, for on entering the doorway the Gents is immediately opposite. The door was wide open & the whole entrance stank. There was only 1 chair available in the room, free-range kids & generally not an inviting first impression. We left.

Ok

Called between Christmas and New Year, it used to be spot - on as an eating place, and, although we haven t called for a long time, this time, the food & service we re very poor.
Although they weren t very busy, between ordering & service was over half an hour s wait. When we actually got our order, Lasagna, there was no pasta & sauce layers, just what seems to be shop bought bolognese sauce with one layer of pasta & cheese on top, served in deep dish. ( probably so you wouldn t notice )
Not good at all, left half of mine. The best thing about it was the shop bought garlic bread.
Poor service, poor meal & massively overpriced rubbish !!!!
Definitely will not be calling again !!!

Lovely English pub

Lovely English pub
Nice stop over just off the motorway outside chesterfield. Stayed at a motorhome on the carpark and were very welcome.
Nice homemade pub grub. Nothing fancy, just honest home cooked food. Very reasonable priced.
They accept Scottish banknotes, so did not hesitate to have more drinks.
Amazing selection of real ales.
Good Gin selection as well.
Worth a visit.
Friendly publicans and staff btw as well. Not to forget ! ! !
