Took our granddaughter, she is 9 months old. The zoo was designed to point us in the direction of the animals for the winter season. She enjoyed the animals and all the other children and it was a rare 60 degree weather.

Went for the first day of the new penguin exhibit. Very nice exhibit, 12 million well spent. You can tell they're desperately trying to upgrade as they get funding. I haven't been here in 6 years because it had gone down hill

All the snack places are new and reasonably priced for attraction purposes. $2.50 for a bottled water is to be expected.

Having a 9 month old, the amount of shaded areas they had were great. The train ride and carousel were nice. Again, the price wasn't outrageous for these either.

4/5 stars because they still have some updates to do. They obviously need a bigger lions exhibit, as they have 3 adults and 3 Cubs and cannot have them out all at one time due to limited space. The giraffes and the elephants have a smaller enclosure as well. Hopefully they can change that sooner than later.

If you have never been to this zoo, or haven't been here for a while, it definitely merits a trip. While the penguins are still my favorite (in their spanking-new, top-notch habitat) they also have a very nice African Savannah area as well as an impressive chimpanzee house and polar bear exhibit, and of course the usual assortment of zoo animals.

The staff was friendly and the zoo was very clean. My main concern is all the wasted space throughout the zoo that could be given to the animals caged in such small areas for their whole life. It would be nice to see the exhibit of any of the animals and think how nice and spacious their area is.

One and only nice and and wonderful place to spend time with wild animals because there is no another option of Maryland Zoo in Maryland. I had enjoyed here on my last visit. But after I had some experience of other zoo in different place, I felt animals are not happy and natural inside the Maryland Zoo. Might be I was wrong but seriously this place is not look like natural place for wild animals. (Please this is my personal view. We appreciate hard work of Maryland Zoo Managements)
Another I felt there, Poor environment for Animals in Maryland zoo. I understand it is zoo But whatever place they put animals is way too congested. In little place have many animals. There is not much freedom for animals. I had chance to visit here only once. For part of human entertainment, student education and children exhibit there is no any comment, they did excellent job. As an animal lover I am very sad about that innocent animals. Look like more human construction and human movement in little space. This is only my personal thinking about animal inside the Zoo. I know the Maryland zoo have fallowed every standard for zoo and animal service. Everyone who want to explore wild animals and want to teach their young generation should try this zoo. They have many things to explore there.

Since taking over from the Baltimore zoo, the folks from the Maryland zoo have done an extraordinary job of eliminating the number of the old wrought-iron cages and providing more of a habitat experience for both the visitors and the animals. VERY impressive.

Wanted to do something with the family at the last minute and was came across this place. I will start off by saying you get your money s worth!! Good price and so much to see and do. We loved it and seeing all the animals. I liked that they had lots of bathrooms around and food/ drink stations while walking. It was a fun time and my children loved it. Definitely go here if you want something fun to do!

We had a family outing to the zoo and it was mostly boring. The giraffe exhibit was the most entertaining since one of them was walking back and forth peeking over the wall at people. Some of the exhibits were closed and there was ongoing renovation so in my opinion the visit was not worth the full admission price.

When talking to somebody about volunteering probably got the worst person to talk to you very nasty very short I felt like I was bothering her asking her information about their volunteering program. Explained that I was an animal trainer in an enrichment expert and I wanted to volunteer my time at the zoo to help the keepers and the animals basically the answer I got was hope sorry you missed dates for applications nothing I can do for you at this time very unfriendly so I called the National Zoo and spoke to someone there they were much more friendlier and when I told her in my experience working with animals she immediately put my name on the list even though they just had their open house. I would like to volunteer at the Maryland Zoo to help their animals who had no enrichment whatsoever maybe one little item clearly not enough to keep them occupied most of their animals are walking around in circles in boredom. I usually don't like writing reviews but the person I spoke to at the Maryland Zoo could not have been more unfriendly then it makes me wonder if there is on friendly with people calling them I went up there is unfriendly with their animals just a thought

What else is there to say except that the Zoo is awesome? The mansion house in particular is a lot of fun (my friend's wedding was there). There are also so many places to walk around, especially around Druid Hill Park. Great for when the weather gets warm!

Excellent place for a family or couples weekend. They have a wide selection of exotic animals and the park is nice and tidy as well as all the enclosures. We usually make a trip 1-2 times a year and never disappoints.

Amazing! I have a zoo membership and it is great. I have a great time at the Baltimore zoo. I honestly feel the animals are happy at this zoo unlike some of the other zoos. Some items are pricey but since some of the money goes towards the zoo it it perfectly okay with me!

Much different from when I was a child. So much of the old zoo is abandoned. Kinda eerie. The new zoo is consolidated but the stars are there: the cave, turtle shells, petting zoo, prairie dogs, lion statues, giant slides. Kinda inconvenient to have to take the shuttle but the ride is pleasant and there's never an extreme wait for the next shuttle. My daughter loves the open cart ride. The penguin exhibit is amazing. So happy the giraffes are out of the old smelly giraffe house. The polar bear exhibit is really small. I feel bad for the guy. All in all we're members and live really close so the zoo is a mainstay of summer.

Was nice, went as a school trip and it w as starting to get cold around that time but most of the animals were out and playing around. Food was a bit pricey but that's like my only complaint. I liked the animal learning center with the people telling us about the animals too.

It's was a very interesting experience. Signs pointing to restrooms, eating areas and animal domains were very well organized. Went, expecting chaos, to assist the 1st grade teacher's field trip with her students, and was pleasantly surprised.

We had a wonderful visit on a beautiful fall day. Every staff person we came in contact with was super friendly and helpful - and that made our visit all the more pleasant. These are challenging times, to be sure, but it seems like the zoo team is doing the very best they can to keep the animals and visitors safe and happy. Looking forward to a return trip.

Great zoo! A lot of the exhibits were closed when we went due to remodeling or the temperature, but that s the price you pay for a good zoo. We had a wonderful time and the zoo was maintained really well. There were lots of wooded areas that were beautiful. The walkways were well maintained too.

Affordable and fun! The zoo is a good size; not too small and (more importantly) not too big. Admission prices are fair, and you can find discounts easily. The food was a bit more pricey; and the train ride was expensive ($5) compared to the ride time. It s a nice route with a high bridge, but the journey is fairly short. Note this is a ride only, not a way to see the animals.

The exhibits were informative and fun. I wish they would re-open the historic central path (that contains old cages) with signage and historical markers... that would greatly enhance the importance of the newer designs of modern enclosures. A great day trip!

The zoo is great. The exhibits allow you to get very close to the animals and the kids love it. The inexpensive carousel was a big hit. Lots under construction, know that before you go. But they make up for it by having staff available to talk about the animals and teach the kids. Great field trip for sure.

My family and I were on vacation and wanted to take our kids to the zoo, we had a rough morning driving around Baltimore. Seeing how the Zoo closes at 4 on Saturdays and we weren't going to make it there until 3 my wife called and asked what time the last admittance would be they told us 4, she then asked so if we get there at 3 will we still be able to see the animals, they told us yes. So we got there at 2:50 walked up to buy our tickets and the lady behind the desk says "well we close at 4 and all the animals will be put away in about 1/2 hour". Really they are going to put the animals away before the zoo even closes and we called and asked if we would be able to see the animals if we got there at that time! We decided to go in anyways because really where are they going to put the animals.. in a cage so they can't run free, we didn't think so. We were able to see most of the animals as we ran through making sure we could get there in time. (I wasn't about to tell our 6 year old we weren't going to the zoo after being in the car for 3 hours) As we checked out the map they provide we couldn't figure out where we were and where we were going because the map is not accurate at all! We came across the camel they were the only friendly people in the entire place! Even though it was 4:00 we asked them if they were still doing rides they told us absolutely! Then the park patrol came around trying to make us leave the zoo (we were not the only guests at the zoo) the camel people told us and the zoo patrol they were told to give rides until 4:30 so we were able to get a ride on the camel. Overall the zoo was nice and the people were rude (except the camel people).

The best $19 I've spent in a while. I spent a great deal of time watching the penguins which is one of the first exhibits. The elephants are a crowd pleaser & can be viewed from above on the observation deck. The best & closest view is from down below. They often can close to the fence were I was standing. I probably had more fun than the kids.
