Aqua Essence Swim Academy Review

My 3 kids, (ages 15, 13, 11) have been swimming with Aqua Essence for the last 3 years. My oldest daughter is currently working on her water safety instructor course and my younger 2 just finished their level 10. My older daughter always said she was going to stop after level 10 but Aqua Essence gave her the confidence and desire to continue and now she hopes to teach and lifeguard as a part time job. The smaller classes are worth the little bit of extra money alongside of the expert instruction. Their largest class was only 3 students, including my own child. The children are always swimming with no waiting in line like in larger programs therefore maximizing time on task. The instructors are fun, personable, confident, and always providing corrections, either verbally, through demonstration and even getting into the water and showing them how to do the stroke correctly. I was surprised when the instructors were in the pool with my child even at the higher levels. I appreciate the extra time Aqua Essence takes to ensure the children have an understanding of water safety, not just the basic information that is required. I love reading their Facebook posts and appreciate their water safety tips for parents. My only regret is not enrolling my kids in the Aqua Essence swim program when it was recommended to me years ago!

Really disappointed with our experience this year. We have been loyal Aqua Essence patrons for many years. A class was cancelled at short notice and then the instructor missing another day because of an appointment. That left my kids with only two classes of actual instruction. One of my daughters has a medical concern and it is mentioned every year. We have had the same instructor for a few years and he didn't review the report cards or notes from previous years. He wouldn't listen when I mentioned my concerns. I have tried to reach out to the organization privately with my concerns but they feel they are justified in the lack of instruction and preparation they provided. Viewing report cards and medical information about the student prior to class seems like a requirement for student success. This is not the practice within this organization.

I was lucky to be employed with Aqua Essence from 2010-2013. Unlike other part time jobs, I always knew when my shifts would take place because they are scheduled at the same time each week. This was very convenient as a student trying to balance academics and other extra curricular activities. Teaching swimming and lifesaving with Aqua Essence was an incredibly rewarding experience. The families Aqua Essence attracts are always so fun to work with. One of the best parts of the job was seeing my students progress throughout the year. With Aqua Essence, students gain not only gain the life skill of swimming, they emerge more confident and with advanced problem solving skills as taught through Aqua Essence s lifesaving program. This is all made possible because of Aqua Essence s small class sizes; students truly get the attention they deserve. With Aqua Essence, students are not just receiving swimming lessons, they are gaining mentors, friends, and becoming part of an Aqua-mazing family! I highly recommend Aqua Essence to everyone I know as it is an excellent company to work within and it provides an unparalleled swimming and lifesaving curriculum.

One of the greatest parts of swimming with @aquaessenceswim is the high level of instruction. The instructors make great relationships with the students; they focus on skills, water safety and they do it while having fun!

I worked for Aqua Essence for 6 years and loved it! The owner of Aqua Essence, Rishona taught me a lot about communication and professionalism, as well as how important rapport building is with your clients. I enjoyed teaching swimmers of all ages and all abilities, and built long-lasting relationships with so many of them! Overall, Aqua Essence is a great company and I thoroughly enjoyed working there.

As someone who grew up with the city lessons and had worked through many other swim organizations, I can say 100% that Aqua Essence is the most passionate and dedicated Aquatic safety and education organization I've ever experienced. The teachers are not only qualified in aquatics, but are given time to work one on one with other instructors to build a strong sense of community and consistency with their lessons. Aqua Essence strives to meet the goals of each student while building a connection with the families. The bonds built with Aqua Essence have been so precious, and you would be crazy to think that you could find better quality with anyone other than AE.

The teacher are very kind but I enrolled all three on my kids for 3 semesters and only my 3 year old passed one level! I loved the convienence of having them go at the same time but I was not that impressed with the teachers. Although they are very nice they did not challenge my kids to improve their skills. My order two had been with the city lessons and had passed a lessons nearly every semester (occasionally had to repeat once). I'm pretty disappointed I paid their higher fees and the fact I spent a whole year driving my kids to lessons with zero improvements! Seems the teaching has gone downhill since the others reviews.

Such a positive experience. My son LOVED it. The instructors are absolute gems (shout out to Annika and Sam K!). Can't get over how much he learnt in such a short space of time. And now he's hooked on swimming! Worth it.

Aqua Essence is the premiere swim academy in Winnipeg. Don't be fooled by the copy cats; Rishona and her team consistently deliver an unparalleled program that adapts to the needs of the individual. I am so glad I chose AE for my family!

Exceptional teaching and a very informative approach in helping my kids really embrace the water, the challenge, and the excitement with swimming. The language used when instructing the kids is like no other and truly sets the gold standard for how to teach and reach children when learning new instrumental skills for life! I have learned that there are a lot of subpar programs and teaching methods for my children's activities, so when I see how Aqua Essence separates themselves from ordinary, the kids are able to to extraordinary things! On top of it all, their customer service response time is best in the nation; so prompt and so helpful!

Would recommend tying a child to a rope, much safer than aqua essence

I had opportunity to be employed by Aqua Essence for nearly 3 years and it was a great experience. Aqua provided great support for their staff, they were always continuously training all employees, even once we had all our certifications. From staff meetings and professional development sessions to in water training, they always made sure that us as instructors had all the tools we needed in order to provide the best instruction possible to swimmers of all ages and levels. Rishona set high standards for all staff, but was more than happy to help us reach them. Safety was always the number 1 priority, both in and our of the water. The smaller class sizes always allowed me to maximize the use of time in each lesson, making sure each swimmer got the attention they deserved, so that no one and no skills was ever skipped over! I would highly recommend Aqua Essence, as (speaking from experience) all of team aqua truly cares about each swimmer and would love to help each one succeed!

We have been with Aqua Essence for about 6 years now. They have been very accommodating and our children's swimming confidence grows rapidly and constantly. The teachers are incredible and work very hard at building relationship with each student and challenge them (we have 5 children in lessons). We have some favourite instructors for sure, just the way they connect and are assertive in a gentle way with our children, but all of our children's instructors have been good at teaching. They have walked through many seasons of our kids lives with us (the tantruming and not wanting to go to lessons and respect our decision to keep pressing on and encouraging them) Rishona is so wonderful to work with, and leads a good team. We are thankful for the growth we continue to see in our children through swimming with Aqua Essence.
