Knowledgeable staff and a wide selection make this a hidden gem. A must stop for any outdoors person

If I ever need any hiking or climbing equipment these place is my go to. They have almost everything you could want and if by some miracle they don't, employees will help you find it elsewhere or get it in stock.

Absolutely will never go back there. After purchasing over $500.00 worth of merchandise from them for Christmas gifts. One was found to have a small hole, when my wife returned that one only for a replacement they said that they can not accept returns because their vendor will not refund Appalachian Outfitters . We tried saying that we did not buy from their vendor we bought from them.
They still refused to accept it. Never again.

I rarely leave reviews given all the online ordering I do, but my experience with AO was a fantastic one so felt I should share. I ordered a Gransfors Bruk felling axe. The price point was on par with all other purchasing options. The order shipped quickly, and upon arrival is when the customer service really shown through. It was packaged extremely well, using all recycled materials and care had been taken to package the head seperately. Where I was most impressed was a personalized hand written note that contained a helpful reminder on how to treat the wood with boiled linseed oil. That proves to me that this is an company that actually cares about their customers, and for that I will now be a lifelong customer.

Hard to claim you are a paddle sports store if you don't carry any canoe accessories, canoes or even paddles. I'll stick with REI & Amazon.

Worst experience ever.Employees are not friendly ,followed me and my climbing club around the store.Very rude and unsafe store and gym.

Bring your credit card, your gona' need it. But...you get what you pay for, all they sell is great products!

Last year's products at this year's prices. I went to look at winter gloves and didn't recognize the model on the shelf. I went to the manufacturer's web site- no luck. I Googled the model- closeout everywhere for 50% of the price @ Appalachian Outfitters.

Helpful and knowledgeable staff. High end camping and hiking apparel. Most of their brands are priced comparable to others.To give you a sense of it, I bought a pair of $300 hiking boots.

This store is awesome ! The staff is very knowledgeable about their products, and very willing to answer any questions you may have without giving off the salesman vibe. I was helped by a guy named Joseph, and he really made my shopping experience there a great one !

REI is simply better. Applalacian is ok for boots, but REI's pricing, selection and atmosphere are all miles ahead.

Expensive, but the staff really knows what they are taking about.

They have an amazing selection. It's a great place to look at the equipment in person. The only issue I had was the pricing. Very expensive. I am referring to an apples to apples comparison with other stores like REI that has the exact same items for significantly less regular price. Still an awesome store with great products.

Okay so it says on the door, if you have a medical condition you don t have to wear a mask but if you go inside and say I have a medical condition I can t wear a mask, they will tell you we can t serve you here, you have to leave. Why have it posted on the door?
