Fabulous setting for a wide range of musical and theatrical productions. You will have a good view of the stage from any seat.
The licensed bars and coffee bars are stocked with a wide range of drinks, sweets and snacks.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
As this is a modern facility those with mobility issues are well provided for.

The Anvil is a fantastic place. I only know it in the context of it's international concert series which features famous orchestras conductors and soloists.

Great place for a variety of performances. Very adaptable.

Nice venue, but very limited bar that ran out before the support band had finished. There are better venues for live acts to choose.

The anvil is a great Venu for music comedy and drama. We went to see the Hollies a great group from the 1960s who are still touring and playing to packed houses around the world.

It works fine, acoustics are good and it doesn't take hours to get in and our. The bars and loos are unable to cope with peak demand, but that's the same everywhere. Architecture and ambience? be serious, it's a municipal venue in Basingstoke.

Nice and clean, although the snack and drink prices are quite high. Had a great time watching Jimmy Carr, but take your own snacks

Nice venue, quite a small intimate audience so really like this only negative is that bar areas aren't brilliantly managed so intervals are very busy but could be better spaced out so prevent this

Was a great pantomime, I loved it.
Nice atmosphere Anvil excels itself once again

Lovely concert but they didn't have enough programmes and our drinks order for the interval was wrong. However they sorted the drinks quickly and they printed more programmes for everyone. Really helpful and pleasant staff.

Excellent theatre in Basingstoke which attracts a variety of entertainers.

Good venue. Poor seats. Way too close together if you have long legs.

Don't park in the anvil car park. It may be closer than festival place car park, but it's more expensive and it's a nightmare to get out of.

Wonderful venue, great stage and the staff were all very helpful and welcoming! Thoroughly enjoyed performing here, looking forward to coming back again sometime soon

Friendly, polite staff. Well organised filtering system to help people find seats safely. Minimal leg room made for serious discomfort for my friend who is very tall.

Compared with the Hexagon in Reading the Anvil is so much more roomier, modern and cleaner. I have never been before and we took the opportunity to visit to see Lenny Henry. We were right at the back and the view was impressive too.

This is a wonderful theatre. Its marvellous design assures everyone a good view unless you get Brunell in front of you with his tophat on.
The acoustics are also wonderful.

We love this venue, I have see a few bands play in the bar area during a lunch time sessions as well as seeing bands and acts play the main hall. I was told off for singing along to Suzanne Vega once by another member of the audience but it only happened once, I guess the audience can be a bit funny sometimes but we didn't let it bother us too much.

I don't drink alcohol, of which there is lots of choice, alas they only serve pepsi or diet pepsi,which to me is foul, I wish they had the option to sell coke/diet coke also.

Good venue for watching stand up comedy. Seats are a bit tight if you have long legs. Decent choice of drinks and snacks at the bar. Plenty of parking.

Good views in most seats, which are comfortable, although legroom for anyone over 6 foot is a bit restricted. The atmosphere for the concert was what you would expect for a theatre.

No bar after 9 the venue was good though managed to see one of my favorite bands there so over all good

Excellent venue especially after seeing the Nutcracker Suite

A good selection of shows. Comedy , plays and music concerts to suit numerous tastes.
Very easy to get to by car with parking that is inexpensive for evening shows just a lift or maximum 3 levels to walk down to the entrance. similarly Basingstoke railway station is very close too.
This theatre sports a bar and between performances treats, such as icecreams, are available.
Sitting at one end of the Basingstoke Festival place shopping precinct hence has a variety of shops nearby and also walking distance to the Basingstoke bus station.

Good view of the stage, seating ok. Bar good and reasonably priced. Parking close by and inexpensive. Very nice Theatre.

Always like the Anvil have been a few times to different shows, always a nice atmosphere and staff are helpful and friendly. Wish there was a restaurant a bit nearer it's a long walk from the restaurants in Festival place

Absolutely excellent venue! Very polite, kind and helpful staff, smoking area outside, a fair price on the drinks and great arena with a great atmosphere! It was my first time there but I must say that I absolutely loved the experience and I went to see Belinda Carlisle and what an Awesome experience, one I shall treasure! Also only 5 minutes walk from the train station and so easy to find

Great theatre. I went to see The Sixteen' there. Great show and everywhere there is a great view of the stage.

A very comfortable modern theatre. My main problem is the fact that they no longer serve real ale at the bar.
Also why do they never provide enough toilets in a theatre? You can miss the entire interval by queuing?

Fantastic performance from Brit Floyd. General staff and the bar team were helpful and friendly. Reasonable prices on drinks and snacks too.

Brilliant performance of sing along the showman complete with goodie bag full of props to use during production and comedienne to show us all how to use them. Brilliant fun for kids and adults.

Went here for the Xmas panto. Having not been to one in a long time was not sure what to expect. But I thoroughly enjoyed myself. My 3 year old also had a fab time.
The venue is great as always, clean and comfortable enough for a couple of hours. The only thing that really let's it down are the small toilets. But if you can beat the half time rush then you are good.

We saw The Illegal Eagles here. Fantastic venue. Loved it.

Saw Danny Baker. He was excellent. The seats though are a little cramped for a long show and it was hot right at the back

I went here to see The Levellers. Friendly staff. The auditorium is comfortable and all seats seem to have a good view. I would certainly not hesitate to go back.

1st visit and it was a great evening. The show was fantastic and the theatre was really nice good seats and lots of room.

Excellent venue for watching top acts on tour. Viewing is brilliant as well as the sound quality. Go visit....

Excellent view of the stage though our seats were on the second tier,due to the steeply raked seating.Seemed quite intimate although seats1400 I believe Saw cirque berserk which were brilliant and highly recommended

Seen John Bishop tonight and had a great time. This man is so funny, just what I needed to help me through the week.

The theatre itself is modern, cleverly designed for many types of events, great acoustics. My only gripe was there were only 5 disabled parking bays fairly close to the entrance which I came across by mistake as weren't signed and wasn't able to be googled but otherwise a great experience

A great venue for a concert, the ushers look fab walking around withsigns of cameras and photographic prohibition notices above their heads before, during the interval and during the second half of the concert. Nice to be reminded but a bit O T T.

A decent venue for music, comedy or theatre. Big enough to attract good acts (I saw Micky Flanagan and Basingstoke symphony orchestra) but small enough that you can get a decent view from pretty much any seat. Tickets are generally quite reasonable too.
