What a great venue visited with my partner to see drifters who was fab.
Good theatre, seats a little uncomfortable for sitting in for long periods, but not the worst theatre seats I've ever had! Would have liked the ice cream seller on both sides of the amphitheatre but given the crowd size and demographic at our show understand why you wouldn't have two.
Great venue. All seats have a good view of the stage.
Fantastic venue for Town Halls needing 300-500 seats
Not my favourite venue but a brilliant show and good seats. Was worried about a disabled friend and escirt had front seats with no hand rails on the steps down not safe
Lovely Theatre. Friendly staff. Comfortable seats with good leg room. Show wa excellent (Paul Merton )
An amazing comedy night out. The staff were friendly and more than happy to help. Seating was comfortable. The bar is slighly over priced, justified with quick service. The only criticism is at the end of the show crowd control could be better. Otherwise definitely recommend The Anvil.
Good location and great facilities. Watched a panto with the whole family and we all loved it.
Staff were helpful and the site itself is very well equipped and maintained
Wonderful, amazing performances and great workers. Plenty of ladies toilets. Long lines because it's busy all during week. Can not bring glasses in to the stage part but there's a seated area while you wait, they also have plastic glass like cups to take in with you.
Shows are professional and standard
I loved the theatre it seems to have a forward thinking attitude about it and openly encourages ordinance participation . Also let's you take drinks in from the bar . First time at a New theatre . It won't be my last
Well run theatre and puts on some great shows. Could do with a few more toilets and concession stands as the queues are a bit long at the intermissions
We went to a fantastic concert "Voices Together" on Sunday 30th September. This featured many local adult choirs who worked together to provide a wonderful mix of music styles all executed to a very high standard.
They had invited Sr Mary's CE Junior School choir and Vocal Point another young people's choir to take part as well and they both added to our evening's enjoyment bringing youthful enthusiasm together with much skill in their presentations.
We are very blessed in Basingstoke to have such a high quality Concert Hall which can be adapted to provide such varied entertainment.
Good show, well organised, friendly staff, highly recommended
Had a great time, fantastic view from the front as it's not too close to the stage and the seats at the back also looked to be a good view
The venue is okay, a bit dated and needs some TLC. Doesn't detract from the performance.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Great night out, easy to get to and always something interesting going on.
Its a nice venue with parking right next door. I have been to many gigs and shows here and always enjoyed the experience. On the down side the bar doesn't stock any beer l really like and they a really hot on you not taking any photos with your phone. All in all it's a nice intimate venue and I would recommend it.
Lovely theatre, and it was fab seeing my son on stage
Nice fairly modern theatre. Had seats in the third row that were uncomfortable, as the first few rows are removable seats. Good view though.
Car park is just by the theatre which makes it very easy to use.
Great venue, big enough to get some larger shows but small enough to still be intimate.
Bars well staffed and serve quickly getting through the long ques.
The Anvil is a really good concert venue that is almost perfect in every way. Superb sound acoustics, there are no bad views from any of the seats (even on the balcony), good sized stage. This is reflected in the wide array of top class acts that the venue can attract. The onsite catering is modest, but can supply what you need. Sitting opposite the Railway Station is quite handy, although some concerts do finish quite late (23:00) so catching a late train may be problematic. The Anvil car park is large and next door, although the bunfight to get through the ticket barriers upon exit is always a laugh!
This time we managed to get seats in Row A . We couldn't get any closer to the stage. Plenty of legroom
Really enjoyed my visit. Great show, venue and bar! Staff were great and welcoming
Sat in row H with an excellent view of the stage. Saw Solid Gold Rock N Roll Show with Marty Wilde, Eden Lane, Mark Wynter and Mike Berry, all had excellent voices, fantastic show, looked as though they really enjoyed themselves.
Very enjoyable evening you will need a bank loan if you use the bar though.
Great venue with wide variety of shows. Friendly staff & comfortable seating.
Saw Rufus Wainwright and guest, great venue outside of London and good parking. Park next to the exit to avoid queue of 20 minutes getting home.
Get some good acts here. Easily accessible and generally good value. Seats getting a bit worn.
Great shows! Comedy, music, musical covers, shows and more.. The bar service is quick and for a night out its great value for money.
A great venue with good views of the stage and good facilities.
Fantastic spectacle. We watched snow white with guest appearance of Patrick Stewart as one of Borg hive members. Really enjoyed the sweets which the children dropped behind me. We were allowed to have cheese crackers and port. Really recommend this place.
Warm welcome from the staff on arrival. Modern feeling theatre and the pantomime was a fantastic family afternoon out.
Nice, bright venue with adequate leg room in the seats and comfortable chairs. Clean and tidy, polite staff and quick service at the bar. Parking available in the multistory next door though you may have to queue for quite a while to leave.
Lovely venue, great acoustics. Great experience although the lady in the box office could have maybe managed a smile and possibly a friendly greeting
Great Easter pantomime 1st time at the Anvil will definitely go there again.
Went to see Bill Bailey, got seats right next to the stage. Great venue, well kept, and friendly staff! Plenty of parking nearby, I highly recommend catching a show or concert here!
Really good theatre with good acoustics. Parking inexpensive and plenty of spaces available. Lots of restaurants nearby. Bar can get a little crowded depending upon the performers. Entertainment varied and the auditorium can be adjusted to accommodate the numbers expected.
Very nice place a nice show from Daniel O'Donnell anf mary Duff there first visit there
We went to see Professor Brian Cox on the snow day that caused so much chaos in Basingstoke.
The staff, the venue were so good and friendly on what must have been a very difficult night for them.
We hope they all made it home.
We enjoyed our night out and whole day was one mad adventure.
Because I love to see the hollies there and its near home
Really good venue and very much looking forward too seeing the Levellers later in the year. A great view of the stage even from where we were at the very back.
The theatre itself is modern, clean and manned with very friendly and helpful staff. Parking is ample and convenient. Views on the auditorium were excellent, although I can't pretend I've tried every seat!
It was a great venue. The seats were so comfortable. The staff were nice and went out of their way to be helpful even though we arrived late. Exiting carpark in a long queue was the only problem. But good parking on arrival, lots of space.
We watched Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs awesome time for Christmas & Easter Pantomime. We loved it. Absolutely excellent staff, very welcoming and helpful. Modern clean, airy, comfy seats lots of leg room.
Parking available in the multi storey car park. Clear labelling, blue badge parking available near to the lifts.
The largest performing arts organisation in Hampshire, runs the Anvil, Haymarket and the Forge in Basingstoke offering a wide range of entertainment of all ages including stand up comedy, theatre, ballet, opera, classical musicpop concert and pantomime.
Went to see Peter Pan panto, clean facilities and very helpful staff. Had a great time. Kids loved the panto
Arrived late for Jimoin tonight, bar staff where awesome so helpful got us drinks then sorted us to our seats.. Flawless, I travel all around the country for different events. This has been the best hospitality I've received.. .. The parking and getting to the venue was a big pain in the arse but rest assured once I got there top quality.. Diolch Thank you for an awesome night of comedy
Great atmosphere and they are always putting on fantastic shows
Seats a little too small for my liking, but I am very tall so its usually an issue
The bathrooms were very well looked after, and the bar seemed to be very clean too
Good concert venue, went to the annual BAYO (Basingstoke Area Youth Orchestra) concert. An excellent evening as always - the musical talent of these schoolchildren is quite staggeringly good.
Excellent venue with good sound and lighting. Excellent, well staffed bars and sufficient loos for interval use. Makes Reading's Oracle look like a pile of concrete rubbish in comparison.
Attended Basingstoke Neighbour Care reception, good food, ok coffee.
Good venue, well signposted, easy parking very near to venue. Good views from seating. Recommended
Watched Rhod Gilbert and he was brilliantly talented.
The Anvil copes very well but it was just unfortunate that the beer pumps had broken on the evening we went and the queues for the bar was painful in the interval which was a negative.
All in all a great venue with excellent car parking facilities..
Would go again even though we are not local to Basingstoke
Great venue. Quite a surprise for a. Modern theatre
Listened to The Sixteen at this venue. Very good concert. Staff in foyer and bar were very helpful when I spoke to them.
Great venue but awful parking. Unlikely to attend another event there. Would have expected the venue to try to help parking to flow out, or at least work to make it so that you are not stuck static for 15 minutes after an event. Other local places have far fewer issues, and it spoils attendance at events as you know you have to run FASTto the car park ideally 5 minutes before the show ends, otherwise you are there for another half hour at least
Really great Theatre. Comfy seats. Easy parking. Good all round views of stage.
Although from Reading we think it has the edge over the Hexagon for size and comfort. Really useful that it often has the same things too, so if one date isn't convenient then the other venue often suits. Both venues have easy parking so just check out what's on and start enjoying a few more things!
Saw Dave Gorman tell the funniest giraffe joke ever
A really good venue with no real negatives. Comfy seats even for extended periods, kept clean and tidy and very well located for the train station. Staff were helpful and friendly. The venue itself was clean and tidy, toilets were in good condition. Definitely a good place to see a show.
I love this place, which manages to programme a good range of entertainment across the year. A great auditorium providing good views and audibility from almost all seats. Like most similar venues, the bars and catering stands struggle to serve allcomers in intervals, but there's lots of space to mingle and chat.
