Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic (AAVEC) Review

The entire process is well-organized. Though the wait can be long, I was communicated this prior to showing to the eme clinic. The Vet, tech and front office were all thorough and professional. My great Dane got 2 staples to help close up a wound from a battle with a bush.

Wonderful caring docs and employees. This place saves countless lives. Will always recommend AAVEC highly to someone who has a pet emergency.

My dog was having some heart issues and they were able to tell me what exactly was going on. The staff was very friendly and professional as well.

My stepmom and I brought our 2 year old cat to this facility Feb 9 at around 10PM with breathing problems. Upon arriving, we were told we could not go back with them during the taking of his vitals, so we stayed in the waiting area. They informed us he had congestive heart failure, which apparently was genetic. It was then that our experience began to take a turn.
Firstly, they said he weighed 10lbs, when in actuality, he was closer to 15-18lbs. Also, they gave him an injection believed to help him and allow us to take him home that night, that made his breathing exponentially worse. It was then that we decided, at the suggestion of the vet, to put him to sleep.
Now, we're at the point where we need to settle up at the front desk. They inform us that it's going to be $687, which seemed extremely high to me. They wouldn't accept a check, so we put down a deposit, and came back the following day to complete the payment.
We were GUARANTEED that we would be receiving his ashes in a box, a plaque with his name, a paw print, and a lock of his fur. This evening, we received the ashes, but much to our disappointment, we did NOT receive the plaque, his paw print, or even the fur.
So, what exactly did we pay for??? We received the bare minimum in compassion and empathy from the staff, and seemingly were looked down on and belittled for not having the full amount THAT NIGHT.
I implore EVERYONE in the Annapolis area to PLEASE go to another facility if you can. I cannot tell you how upset this has made me and my stepmom. It's not like we can get those items again. They had one chance to do those things; and that chance is gone now.

Chicken sandwich was ready, and hot. However, I asked for spicy and received ther regular one, also they did forget 1 sandwich but I didn't want tho go back considering all the backlash some people get. This sandwich is a hot commodity and I wasn't gonna fight over it lol.

Had to put my fathers cat down. They were friendly and fair pricing for an emergency service.

They did a great job treating Sugar. The waiting time after she was admitted was ridiculous. Sugar is well now. Thanks again. P

Truly Emergency Room for Animals. These Vets and Vet techs are experts and get right to the point. Also, this location has a number of Veternarian Specialists ( Cardiology, Neurology, Eye) . Each of those has their own contact info.

Friendly staff. Honest and genuinely cared about my pup. Checked her out quickly and determined that she was okay, without putting her through unnecessary procedures or tests.

The staff and vet were very professional-very experienced. Had answers to questions and were right on the money with my Buster symptoms. I thank u for being there for him and I. It was scary but they made sure with their knowledge that he was going to be ok.

Had an emergency with our cat and they took us with no notice or appointment. They updated us on his condition day and night, recommended the next steps in care and even sent us pictures, since we were unable to visit. Their level of care and professionalism made us as comfortable as possible during a horrible situation.

I called Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic on 17 JUNE 2019 at 9:02 P.M. I cannot believe the response/answer I received from the Clinic. I am away on military orders and I called this clinic to get information over the phone, since my dog is currently at daycare in another state. I told the woman who answered the phone about my situation, and how my dog had been bitten by horse-flies. I asked if she knew anything about dogs getting bitten by them before. This was her response, "Ma'am I do not have time to answer that question. I've been bitten by horse files before, and I was just extremely itchy." I was in complete shock. She had time to tell me about her reaction to horse-fly bites but not a quick statement about reactions to dogs. This place is suppose to want to save and care for animals, but saying that "you do not have time" is simply unacceptable. I highly recommend calling or going somewhere else. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!

After our puppy broke his leg on a Saturday night we rushed over to Anne Arundel Emergency vet. We were quickly taken to a room where we sat for hours after they took him for X-rays saying they would be right back. After the vet returned we were told to drop him off the next day for a consultation for 3-5 thousand dollars of surgery. With some medical background, I asked to see the X-ray, and it seemed unlikely surgery would be needed. After getting 3 more opinions it was unanimous that surgery was not needed or even safe based on the location of the fracture near the growth plate. After a phone call with our regular vet he told us the splint would need to be replaced weekly. A week after our visit the emergency vet our regular vet removed the splint to find a large wound around his elbow from the splint being put on poorly (too tight and the wrong kind of splint). Now after the $700+ initial visit at the emergency vet, we have to buy antibiotics to treat this new wound caused by the splint $50. Obviously frustrated I called the AA emergency vet who informed me they would have someone reach out to me that day to try to fix this problem. It s been close to a week now with no one reaching out to us. I never post reviews but I think everyone needs to be on their toes to ensure they are not taken advantage of financially or with the level of care. When something happens to your pet it is easy to freak out and agree to anything to help them and I am thankful we took a step back and got another opinion or else who knows what could have happened?

This place is amazing. I felt like they really cared. They are gentle and patient with your animals and take time to explain treatments to you and answer any questions you have.

Took my dog Luna here for the first time today. I had to stay in the car the entire time due to covid-19. I was very happy with the vibe I got from whoever brought her to and from the car. I was also extremely happy with the communication phone calls with Dr. Delano. I felt very comfortable and I can tell my baby was very well treated and taken care of. Thanks guys!

Wonderful compassionate people took great care of my cat late at night and the price was reasonable.

Took my dog for possible bloat. Had excellent treatment. Prices were explained and very reasonable ( as in the same as my regular vet). Suggested treatments were well explained with very clear discharge orders. The entire staff really care about the animals they see. Wish human medicine was this good.

Unfortunately the second time I ve had to visit the great folks here for my now 7 month old puppy. Even though it s never fun to visit and emergency hospital they still make it a pleasant experience. Knowledgeable and caring staff. I drive from an hour away as they are the closest after hours vet to where I live. But I could safely say even if there was one right down the street, I would still make this drive. Luckily nothing serious with the pup! Very reasonable rates on top of all that. I always expect a comma in my bill when attending Veterinary ER s. But I can say even if you added up both visits I still haven t spent $1000 here. Thank you all so much and keep up the great work! And remember! If you re reading this, it s always best to be safe than to be sorry. Bring your furry friends here and they will be treated very well!

This place is great, I wont say much because it was one of the hardest days of my life, letting our beloved go, but they gave us the best advice and service and the staff was amazing. I so wish it wasn't such a sad ending but they made us feel so comfortable and well informed. Definitely not a factory like some places. We only use as an emergency vet, but that is exactly what it's there for.

My husband and I would just like to thank Dr. A and the techs for an outstanding experience with them. Our Lab needed major surgery on a herniated disc that had pretty much made him lame. Dr. A was able to fix our Lab, Deek back. He is able to walk again and now is back home with us. Everyone from the Emergency area to the Neurological staff went above and beyond the call of duty. We can t begin to thank you enough and from the very bottom of our hearts. Thank you again and we HIGHLY recommend this Clinic for anyone needed emergency help or specialist care. They are the BEST!!!!!!

Wonderful to have a facility near by that can handle an emergency when our vets was closed. absolutely would recommend!!!!

Thank you to the team that helped us through our very difficult time of losing our beloved Batman. You all were so compassionate and gentle. Your compassion made our family s heartbreaking but, necessary decision more bearable.

They are good with treating the animals, but be advised that this vet frequently reports on their clients to animal control. And not just for legitimate situations, this vet has reported on clients who have done nothing wrong. Additionally, they have held onto people s animals under false pretenses, then turned them over to animal control. This is illegal and a breach of trust. Animal Control needs a warrant. Without one, they cannot do anything to your buddy.

Once Animal Control gets involved, all bets are off. If they come to your door, keep in mind that they have already decided to charge you. They always file charges. Anyway that s a discussion for another time.

The important thing is to exercise caution, be aware that if you take your pet here, that if you so much as rub AAVEC the wrong way, you could find yourself in a world of hurt.

Terrible experience I believe its theft.
Charged me 6000$ for mri of my pugs spine thinking it might need surgery. Mri looked good no surgery needed. Vet required $6000 up front for surgery which wasn't done they kept dog 3 days and put him down and wouldn't return my money. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HERE BURN YOUR MONEY INSTEAD SAME RESULTS.

Awesome care and concern. Great staff. Had 3 dogs treated there on different occasions and they could not have been any better.

Maida is doing great for an old dog. Now on Thyroid meds.

They take excellent care of fur babies, its just $$$$$$. Be prepared for shock. Otherwise no real issues.

My dog had a bad reaction from her booster shots earlier in the day from another vet location. So this was a Saturday evening and this is the only 24 hour emergency room for animals in my area. I called to give them the alert we were on the way with my poor swollen dog. As soon as we arrived they vet tech took one look at her and immediately took her to a back area to begin treatments. These folks were kind, calming, & professional! The best! The doctor treated my baby with steroid & Benadryl injections while I signed some paperwork. After about an hour things were under control and the severe swelling was starting to improve. We were given instructions for home care and it was done, home we went. Happily! Thank you for the great care & professional care you give your 4 legged patients and their family! I hope to not need emergency care again however I know right where to go.

Very professional staff and incredibly clean facility.

The staff was very pleasant and I was pleased with the the service my cat got from the vet but I can't lie, was somewhat shocked at the final bill.
