Incredible ability, knowledge and care. As an ER Nurse and married to an ER doctor we have some clue of how things work, although we would never pretend to know veterinary medicine, but their ability and level of cre rivalled anything that would be expected of human emergency care.

Excellent Emergency Clinic. The Front Desk Staff was very friendly and nice, took us back right away, wait was not too long, explained everything they were doing, answered any questions we had and were very caring for our 11 year old Retriever/Chow Mix. Explained what they were needing to do, and what could wait for another time. I am very pleased with our visit and would recommend this facility to anyone in the area needing emergency vet care. Pricing is very fair and reasonable.

The vet doctors here are amazing. I bought my little fat daddy Milo here because he was having some stomach issues. They took really good care of my little man and a week later he is doing great.

While they were open and ultimately did good work, they were unbelievably callous about my situation. My dog had an anemic fit, caused by internal bleeding with a tumor on his spleen rupturing. Despite us telling them it was a periodic thing, they still made an offer to put him down on the spot. A month later and I still have a happy dog and no plans to revisit.

Our dog and cat have both been seen at this hospital for major health issues and we have been very pleased with the medical care they've received. Our dog had to have emergency surgery and stay in the hospital for about four days. The vets were great and regularly kept in touch on how he was doing. I appreciate that they encouraged us to come see him each evening and the vets spent a good 10-15 min talking to us about how his day went when we were there. Emergency care is never cheap, but I feel they were worth every cent as my dog made a full recovery from what would have been a fatal situation without their intervention.

We cannot thank this emergency clinic enough. When our dog was throwing up blood, they took him in quickly and kept us informed every step of the way. They were able to help our dog without surgery and gave us detailed recovery instructions. Everyone was so kind and helpful. We are so thankful to have this clinic close by.

This place should get 10 stars. It was a lovely facility. The staff were courteous. helpfut, and accomadating. It was very busy, however we were given explainations for the wait. The vet showed great interest and listened attentively to all concerns. Instructions, suggestions, and options were presented to address the current situation. The vet handled the pet with care and talked to him.

On memorial day I had an emergency with my dog who was not walking so well and seemed to be in pain. I called my normal vet but due to the holiday and the pandemic, they weren't seeing patients and sent me here. We brought my dog in and I was greeted outside by a tech. She immediately started giving my boy some love while I was telling her what was going on. She took him inside and I could see her giving him some forehead kisses while he was being weighed. It definitely eased my mind knowing that he was being loved on while I couldn't be there with him. I was given a simple diagnosis rather than being told to spend hundreds or thousands on treatments and tests for a 9 year old mastiff. We took him home with some medicine to see if he got better. Unfortunately, a week passed and his condition started to worsen so we brough him back here. We decided not to go back to our normal vet even though they were now open because we appreciated not being given a sales pitch. The vet we talked to (Dr Woods) said that putting him down would be a kind option given his pain levels. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, we had to do this outside in the car, but techs and staff were so wonderfully kind and sympathetic. We were able to spend a little time with him to say goodbye before he peacefully slipped out of pain. Even the two men who came to carry his body away afterwards were extremely kind to us by offering condolences and prayers. Throughout this entire process i dont think I spoke to one unkind person. My family was treated with respect and my dog was treated with dignity and love. Thank you guys for making this extremely hard decision a little easier with your compassion. Much love from the Hare family.

Sunday morning my Doxie woke up and was parylized on her left hind leg. Called around and got rave reviews about your hospital. I was extremely pleased with the way we were handled. Thank you so much for all your help.

Absolutely amazing. As soon as I walked in they took my dog back. Within 15 minutes the veterinarian had examined him, started him on pain medicine and updated me. When the decision was made to put him to sleep, they were incredibly kind and very sensitive to our emotions. It was devastating but their quick and heartfelt reactions helped us let go.

Super expensive!

Super expensive!
When we called ahead to let them know we were coming they said are u prepared to spend $500 or more? What Vet says that unless u are concerned about the money not the animal
Staff, some are nice some not at all. My dog was giving birth, they did a ultra sound and a Xray to see how many pups. I dont think their was a reason to do both except money. Then after she had 3 puppies then did another Xray to see how many were left which I understand, but charged 4 both. $400 just for 2 X-rays. They could have waived 2nd X-ray fee. We were their from 11pm-6Am in the parking lot cause u cant go inside due to Covid. They were great with everything just seems more about the doallar then the animal

Thank you so much to the whole staff team that was on March 6 2020 @ 5-7:45 pm. I brought my dachshund in because I thought he mightve had a bully stick lodged somewhere. The whole staff was super supportive and got me seen quickly. An extra special shoutout and thank you to the vet Mary Carter for taking such a detailed and thorough examination of my dog even while taking care of another pet she was seeing too. It's clear she gives the same amount of care and attention to detail to any pet that comes to see her - definitely the kind of person you'd want to leave your baby's care to.

Took my dog for possible bloat. Had excellent treatment. Prices were explained and very reasonable ( as in the same as my regular vet). Suggested treatments were well explained with very clear discharge orders. The entire staff really care about the animals they see. Wish human medicine was this good.

Our Shih tzu Gertie was diagnosed as being severely anemic, being on the mid shore the nearest place that could help was AAEVC, Gertie received excellent care and after two blood transfusions is now home and seems well on the way to a full recovery. The staff and facilities are excellent, five stars does not do them justice. If you need help for your pet, you should have zero hesitation about the care here. Thanks for all you do. The Jones

I could not be happier with the service and personnel of Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic. I rushed my dog (Yellow Lab, 77lbs.) after she was bit in the neck/chest from another dog. I took her in along with my other dog and the staff immediately put us in a room. I had a doctor come in the room and take a quick look at my dog and informed me of what she had noticed before taking my dog back for a further look and examination. What I do appreciate from the staff was the honest approach to the bill. I figured it would be a decent bill (being an emergency, needed stitches, and being put under for operation purposes). The staff broke down on what the bill could be, both the high end and the low end. I was very surprised after everything was all said and done when I received the bill and it was maybe $10 more than the low end estimate. Given the situation, the medicine for my dog , and the procedures (two layers of stitches and a temporary drainage tube for the infection to drain out) not to mention a cone so my dog wouldn't scratch herself. I understand this is a lot to read for a review but this really is a great place to take your furry family member in an emergency.

TL;DR: Great place, great staff & reasonable bill price for the work performed.

I have had to visit twice now and each time I was met with professionalism and urgency. I don't mind the drive when it comes to my dogs life. The staff was very swift and informative and took very good care of my boy Lucky. I hope to never return, but, if I have to, this is the place I will bring any of my pets and do highly recommend.

This place was absolutely fantastic, considering the emotions involved in euthanasia our beloved Gordo. He was 14 and not doing well. Everyone was so sweet and caring. They offer many services. Check them out

The vets and vet technicians were very kind and communicated clearly as we prepared for a very difficult decision. The billing department was harsh and unkind in the face of our very sad situation. I wish they had been more patient and less abrupt with the conversation as we arranged to pay to say goodbye to our companion.

Our dog maybelle s stomach flipped Tuesday night around 11 pm I called this hospital and we rushed right over and they came out took maybelle right away and within the same hour they called us and told us everything that was going on as well, what needed to be done. She had the surgery and we were notified every step of the way. One of the vet techs Kaitlin went the extra mile to really assure us and to take of care our fur baby! We cannot express our gratitude and appreciation for this office and ALL the staff. Thank you all so so much!! Definitely recommend!!

This is not my regular vet, but is the only 24 hour vet near me. I've visited twice and while they were both emergency visits, one where I had to put my dog down. Who was a 10 year old lab mix with a tumor on her spleen. If you are close by or need a vet the staff is AMAZING! They went of there way to allow us to spend the last moments with our beloved dog and we're just really great.

Took my dog Luna here for the first time today. I had to stay in the car the entire time due to covid-19. I was very happy with the vibe I got from whoever brought her to and from the car. I was also extremely happy with the communication phone calls with Dr. Delano. I felt very comfortable and I can tell my baby was very well treated and taken care of. Thanks guys!

My wife and I walk into the lobby/front desk area with our sick dog and the front desk attendant Maria just stares at us like why are you bothering me . Finally what seemed like a lot of effort Can I help you?
The Vet was superb, however the piss poor attitude at the desk ruined the entire experience for not only my wife and I but my dog lol, who barked at ONLY her and none of the other people in the office.

The doctor was very compassionate and allowed us to spend all the time we needed with our dog after we decided to have her euthanized. It was a tough time and the doctor spent a lot of time explaining her ailment. We were very happy with the treatment we received.

Had to take my pup in for emergency at 2am. Obviously a scary situation. They handled everything fast and did an excellent job. My puppy was back better than ever within 24 hours. Very happy!

I had to bring my dog in on a Sunday afternoon because she had ingested glue somehow and thank God for AAVEC even though it was a tad pricey ( I assume because of the day and time of the visit and due to the fact it is a 24/7 fully equipped and functional animal hospital) was worth it they didnt judge us at all they were very knowledgeable and very helpful my dog had to have emergency surgery otherwise she wouldn't be here with me today and AAVEC saved her life I'll be forever grateful she recovered beautiful and as a bonus they offered the option of spaying her as well since she would already be under anesthesia and we ended up getting it done as well (which also save future $ anesthesia is the most costly part of surgery apparently) also the hospital itself was immaculately maintained and clean and fully staffed with great and friendly vets and vet techs

This facility was an absolute life saver when my dog was throwing up blood for hours in the middle of the night. The staff there was so wonderful in my vulnerable state. Not only did they take care of my pup, they were able to determine he has a cruciate tear as well. Something my own vet couldn't confirm AFTER they had me pay for xrays. I wish I could bring my dog here for his primary care!

Arrived at 5:45 am and left at 6:15...never saw a vet. No other patients in the place. After waiting 15 mins in the exam room, I checked to see how long it would be to see a vet, was told the vet had been on a call with another clinic. Waited 10 mins more, and was told it d be another 10-15 mins. I walked out. My dog was in pain and stressed. Figured it be better to have him wait at home for our regular vet to open instead of being stressed, waiting, in a vet office that s technically open 24 hours vs emergency care.

Took my cat in with vomiting and lethargy. ALL THEY DID was scan him for a blockage, give fluids and a nausea shot. No bloodwork to check his liver and kidneys, no parasite check, and $475 later, my cat is hiding in the closet vomiting yellow bile everywhere. Wonderful job guys. Don t you think you'd be a just a little more thorough? All that was even suggested was a scan, I m not a vet and even I know that there is more than one reason a cat vomits. I had was literally shocked that they didn t do a single test on him, didnt even explore the possibilities of what could be causing this, and now my cat is back at the vet but you bet your a** he will NEVER go back here again. Negligence is what it is.

They are good with treating the animals, but be advised that this vet frequently reports on their clients to animal control. And not just for legitimate situations, this vet has reported on clients who have done nothing wrong. Additionally, they have held onto people s animals under false pretenses, then turned them over to animal control. This is illegal and a breach of trust. Animal Control needs a warrant. Without one, they cannot do anything to your buddy.

Once Animal Control gets involved, all bets are off. If they come to your door, keep in mind that they have already decided to charge you. They always file charges. Anyway that s a discussion for another time.

The important thing is to exercise caution, be aware that if you take your pet here, that if you so much as rub AAVEC the wrong way, you could find yourself in a world of hurt.

I had to bring my baby jazz here when she scratched open a lump in her chest that would not stop bleeding. The doctors were kind and seemed to really care about the well being of my baby. they operated on her the same day, kept her over night and were very diligent in answering all my questions and ensuring that I knew how to take care of Jazz once she was home.

Very nice people, not to mention competent... My dog and I were visiting from out of state when he developed a problem, which I only noticed late on a Saturday evening during a long holiday weekend, leaving me very few options... I contacted the Emergency Clinic, and they told me I was welcome to stop by any time, and no problem was too trivial.... The vet had a look at Alfie, reassured me that it was not serious, suggested some remedies, and sent us on our way... All and all, a positive experience, and I would not hesitate coming back there again, or recommending to a fellow pet owner...

I wrote a review below and just want to add to it. Although we feel we had excellent care for our little girl, all the doctors were pretty much agreed about her diagnosis. The very frustrating part was that a couple said there s no hope, another said there is, two others weren t sure. It was an emotional roller coaster and awful. We were back and forth on continuing treatment and more tests or saying goodbye to her. That is our most frustrating complaint. Amanda G. who is a tech there was very comforting and helped us through the decision process and we are very grateful to her. Most of the front desk staff could use some customer service classes, but to be fair, they were extremely busy.
First review: Very quick to get our puppy in. Night time crew was fabulous. Love Dr. Stevens who was very quick to call us back and addressed our concerns in depth. Was not impressed with the day doctor. I m aware they are very busy, but to say he would call us back and it s been five hours waiting for him to call us back seems unreasonable. And he seemed to contradict what neurologist said, as well as other doctor. Also was not impressed with one of the daytime office staff. Very cold and dismissive, bordering on rude. Again, they are all busy, but my puppy was very sick, suffering, and naturally we were extremely worried.

Wonderful staff. Came in and were immediately put in a room with a nurse. She explaind everything to us and made us very comfortable with what was going on. Once the Vet doc came in she didnt try and make us do a bunch of things. She only did the basic things we needed to get our dog back to being healthy. She gave us some solid pointers on what to do and to take care of our pup.

Would recommend this place for any visit needed for your animals.

Capable, sometimes young staff likely getting real-world experience. Our pet saw different vets who each came up with differing diagnoses. Continuity was a bit challenging.Would have preferred to see more staff with more years under their belt. That aside, this emergency clinic is a God-send if your pet is experiencing a serious problem after hours.

The staff here are phenomenal. Huge thank you to Dr. Tom Kozek as that man works tirelessly and clearly cares about the pets best interest without pushing unnecessary procedures. And Dr. Allison Keil listened intently and helped figure out a course of action that worked best for us as we weren t exactly sure what was making our pup so sick. Prices were extremely reasonable. Would never hesitate to return. Our pup is on the mend and hopefully continues down this path.

Very thorough, attitudes ranged from neutral to nice but always professional...very expensive (but it was ER medicine after midnight in high cost of living area). Glad I brought my dog here.

We took our cat here for surgery; they did their best, but unfortunately he had a malignant cancer that came back a couple months after the procedure and we had to put him to sleep. I think they get a lot of the worst-case and terminal cases that a regular vet can't fix, and that some of the bad reviews are rooted in frustration that they didn't get the cure that the owner was hoping for. If you're in the situation that we were, facing a large surgery bill with a not-great long term prognosis, you may have to have the hard discussion about whether it is worth it or not. The specialists here will give you good advice, but the decision in the end is yours. If you decide that it is just too much money, or that the odds just are not good, please do not feel that you are a bad owner; in retrospect, I wish we had made that decision. I wish you well.

Have ALWAYS had excellent experience with AAVEC for all three of my beloved pooches. Our beloved Lucy had to unexpectedly and devastatingly be euthanized due to neurological issues, their staff was so compassionate and caring. They are always outstanding.

My dog was having some stomach issues after he ate. Called up the vet ER and the told us to bring him in immediately. Quickly found out he had a tumor on his spleen which had ruptured. The docs took him in for immediate surgery. All went well and I'm happy to say my best friend is alive today and doing well.
The staff was very friendly and understanding (even allowing us to visit out boy after hours).
Highly recommend to anyone who has a pet emergency.

Thank you for taking great care of our dog. One thing I was most impressed with was you cared more about my dog being able to get the surgery he needed than making money on us. The doctor went through the itemized estimate sheet, took things off, and even recommended a surgery center we could afford! That speaks volumes and we were so thankful!

It's heartbreaking to write this, because my visit ended with the wholly unexpected loss of my dog, but the facility and people were very kind and loving despite not knowing our little guy. They allowed us to make the decision without a lot of pressure for expensive treatments that would have only bough slivers of time more. Our doctor wept with us as we said goodbye. And they sent us a lovely note a week later with condolences.

We've been here three times over the past couple of years. We had one good and two bad experiences. They were wonderful when we had to put down one of our cat's unexpectedly; however, when another one of our cat's and our dog was sick, it was very frustrating: being talked down to instead of talked to, making it seem like we were an inconvenience any time we'd call or visit to check-in on our pets, questioning the decisions we made about our pets, and I won't even get into their pricing structure and estimates. If you're in a situation where it's late at night or a weekend, your vet is unavailable, and you have no other option, then this is the best place to bring your pet to receive the care they need until you can transfer your pet to their vet so they can care for them directly. Just prepare yourself emotionally, mentally, and especially financially for the experience.

There are so many wonderful things I could say about this office. I had to bring my kitten in for an emergency visit and the staff at Anne Arundel Vet was more than helpful with my babies care. They were extremely kind over the phone and made me feel very comfortable with their COVID standards and protocols. My cat was in amazing hands and I want to thank the entire staff for taking such amazing care of my Poe. I know if we ever have another emergency that I will be coming back to them exclusively. Thank you so much!!!

Great care and service! My cat had a surgical complication at another vet and required overnight monitoring. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately and put in a room and my cat was whisked away for an immediate exam. The vet came out soon after to explain everything to me and let me know what would be happening overnight. I was encouraged to call if needed to check in. The next day they were very conservative in discharging to make sure that my cat was truly stable before taking her home. It was a very stressful situation for me but the staff and doctors at AAVEC really helped me through it. I can t say enough positive words and am glad to know they are right in the area if I ever need emergency care for my animals.
