Best place to stay if you are planning to visit pigeon island

Hard to find the office, as there are no boards guiding you to the office

It's sad to see the situation of this hotel, i think the owners / Managers here are simply not bothered, we understand the struggle in the leisure industry of Sri Lanka, we had easter attacks and then covid 19, leisure industry never recovered yet there were plenty of locals just like us who were traveling travelling around, giving plenty some business for hotels.

I feel the situation in this hotel has little to do with covid or Easter Sunday attach in 2019, it's a clear case of management ignorance and lack of attention to detail, I don't see anyone running the business here.

This entire property is badly maintained, there was a dangerous wasp colony in one of the concrete columns on the 2nd floor, furniture are damaged, with so much of stains and ugly.

Entire greenery in this property is turning brown (grass is nearly dead in some areas), there are tons and tons of fallen leaves in the garden, lawns were not cut, unwanted bushes/trees are out growing, yet the management is not bothered.

Room has all discolored, ugly furniture, it's like they were reused after a tsunami or left out in outside in the rain and suddenly taken inside after about 6-7 months, bathroom has ugly toilet seats, the water tap in the wash basin is sprinkling water in all directions (because it is blocked and never cleared), TV receiver is glued in the bottom of the TV and it's kept on falling down and hanging by the wires.

There are two swimming pools in this hotel, we used both of them, none of them have filters operating when we were there, water was murky (we couldn't see the bottom of the pool) and (check out my photo) there were algae growing on the side walls and the bottom of the pool. (check my photo - brown algae), this is a clear indication of lack of filtration, improper circulation of water. It's quite dangerous to have a pool like this for guests, i don't understand why this management is not even bothered to clean it & raise the hygiene standard / get the filters to work?

Variety of food served is not great, yet there was nothing wrong with the food, well it as ok, not great but ok, we were served peppered beef twice for two consecutive days for dinner, well that's ok considering the other agonies in this hotel.

We ordered french fries from in-room dining, received something we could called a brown version of french fries, portion was huge and horribly burned pieces were found. It was quite disappointing...

So i inquired from the front desk about the GM, the man who should be in charge of this property, named was mentioned as "Indrajith" and yet i did not see that figure visiting me or any of the guests. as a matter of fact I did not see the head chef (if there is any) visiting the guests to ask their opinion about the meals.

There are bunch of minor staffs desperately trying to keep things under control here to the best of their capacity, while the management is not bothered to uplift any standard, if there are any superiors here how come they simply ignore everything, things they can see with their own eyes...

Hotel is in a perfect location, with pigeon island in his vicinity, ticket counter and the life guard services at Nilaweli beach is right next to this hotel, it's next to the famous Nilaweli Beach hotel (one of the most oldest hotels in Trincomalee).

I came here due to previous reviews. But what a horrible place? I came with 5 families all together. They said checking time is 2.00pm. but we got rooms at4.30pm. there was no star class buffet.I thing Muslim hotels in Trincomalee town is much better.chefs were rejected making bites for us.swimming pool is full of alges.not properly maintained.surrouning also not properly maintained.nice location.no adequate staff to serve guest.The remaining staff is good and helpful.need more staff to handle the place..I have never stay such a bad hotel in my life..not worth for the money at all.
