The Anderson Public Library is the BEST part about Anderson. The architecture is gorgeous & the new kid's area is top notch. They have kid friendly computers & Legos! The library is full service & offers a variety of media types. There are an abundance of quiet places, computers, & there's even a snack area.

They host many events each month, including the Friends of Library book sale where you can buy books for next to nothing.

Some of the books are a bit outdated, but they offer so many you'll hardly notice.

One minor disappointment is the model train room. It's basically just for the members to enjoy & it's really not set up for public viewing. You can poke your head in there & catch a glimpse of the trains, but that's about it.

I went to the childrens area one day. My 1 year old did not have shoes on. A librarian in the childrens area told me next time she needed to have shoes on. I agreed. Then, another librarian told me she needed shoes. I told her that someone else had already informed me of this and that I had agreed to put shoes on her next time, BUT that we didnt typically put our babies in shoes. We believe that it is best for them to walk without restricting the natural movement of thier feet. She began to harass me, argue with me, and question my parenting choices. She (rudely) asked me if I put shoes on her to go to the grocery store. I answered. Then the continued to ask me about other specific places in public and whether we put shoes on her. When I told her that what we did outside of the library was none of her concern she basically told me to leave. I told her (again) another staff was aware that she didnt have shoes on and we had agreed that the next time I would have shoes on her. She continued to belittle my parenting style and choices. She said I was endangering my child. VERY RUDE!

upon TRYING to study for a class, I was VERY upset by the noise level! Sadly the high noise level was coming from the employees who were putting away books. I may not have been able to study however, I know all about their personal insurance issues. WOW! just WOW!

My boyfriend and I were SO pleased with our recent trip to the library. Because of COVID and the exchange of books and materials, we had been delaying our next visit. We finally visited the library and were incredibly impressed with the precautions taken by library staff. After leaving, my boyfriend and I agreed that this visit to Anderson library was the safest we've felt being indoors since the start of the pandemic. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the devoted staff--libraries are a vital public institution and we couldn't make it without you all.

Dont you dare be late! They wouldn't work with me on nothing! I had a late fee with dvds and tried to renew them over the phone, which obviously didn't work, and they wouldnt budge for my late fees. I was new to this town and always looking for things to keep the kids and i busy. I will say tho, its a nice library.

Over half of the DVDs we've borrowed from here don't play all the way through. Sometimes we have to skip 30 minutes of a movie just to get through it, or sometimes we skip whole episodes. A couple of times it was so bad that we just had to completely give up on the rented item.

When I mentioned this to the lady at the front desk she suggested I just clean the disc, as if we never even tried that........I've been working with computers daily for the past 22 years. Cleaning a scratched, destroyed disc will not fix anything.

We have also received discs with such dirty, faded labels that no one could even tell that there were two seasons of a show mixed together. I have taken it upon myself to re label their discs for them (you're welcome) and have left notes about the mixed up seasons of shows.

However I was disappointed, but not surprised to find that it was not fixed by the time we came to rent the next installment of the show. Not impressed. Not at all.

I enjoy going to the library when I can and am glad they finally expanded the parking. The inside is clean and well organized. They have wonderful children's programs and a great playroom for the little ones. I do wish during story hour they would allow the children a bit more free playtime before transitioning into the story; or allow the children with a small attention span to continue playing. I also feel that for the downstairs area to be prohibited concerning drinks other than the small snack area in the entrance is a bit much. Though I understand it from a cleanliness perspective, I think most libraries are relaxing the rules on this. I truly appreciate the fact that there are so many downloadable resources; Rosetta Stone language software in particular is the best.

clean, beautiful setting, sadly too many people dropping off kids & leaving them unattended making it difficult to get them to use their "Library voices" and it can be disruptive. Overall it is a great place and a wonderful selection of books. They have a lot of public events posted, informational classes offered, plenty of private meeting rooms, I had forgotten how great this Library is.

The public library in Anderson is second-to-none! They offer so many services for the public and for families. Whether you are an occasional reader, a bibliophile, a comic book nerd, an aspiring student, a video game fan or just want to watch movies this is the place for you.

Like most libraries internet access is available to all. You can check out laptops and iPads, charge your phones at charging stations, eat food and snacks at the snack and lounge area downstairs, or just relax.

The staff are professional and always friendly.
