Big, impersonal business. Some doctors, midwives and other staff are plain rude! (Before having children, I went to one GYN nuse and she was great, but is no longer there). Most OB doctors are too much in a hurry and have bad bed side manners. But I ultimately left this place because they refused to see me in the beginning of January 2017, instead of December 2016, for my new pregnancy appointment. Having been through another pregnancy before, at AWC, I knew that first appointment is very costly (around $1k). I requested that they push my first appointment into Jan of 2017, so that the cost would fall into the new insurance year. I explained that I had a high deductible plan, so the entire cost of first appointment, if done in 2016, would be of pocket, as we had barely had to use our health insurance that year. It made most financial sense to wait until Jan 2017, when I would have a low deductible plan, when other appointments and delivery costs will all fall into new insurance year, but they could care less - they had some cut-off figure to use (no more than xx weeks pregnant for first appointment). They absolutely refused to work with me, even after about 15 years of history with them. They also wanted me to do this orientation (forgot what they call it) when an office manager type person talks about pregnancy, in general terms. I said I don't need it, I've had a baby before. They insisted I have to do it, even if I've gone through this before. Waste of clients' time. But just an easy way for them to collect exorbitant fees. So I left them
Recently, I found out that some of the doctors from AWC perform abortions (at other locations, incl. Planned Parenthood). This affirmed that I made a right decision by leaving AWC. I am against killing babies, especially after having seen my two grow in the womb. Had nost wonderful pregnancy and delivery experince at another place! Will never go back to AWC.
