Wonderful hotel, lovely staff and great views over the harbour
We came to the Shangri-La as a 30th birthday. It was pretty reasonably priced and very convinient. The hotel staff were great and very helpful. We stayed in a nice double room that had a view of the Opera House. The restaurant and bar on the top floor is great (although slightly expensive). I would say that the hotel is looking a touch tired and maybe showing its age but overall I very much enjoyed it.
Went to the Buffett, Seafood was ordinary but the roasts were good
I booked the premium Harbour room for my 3 yr anniversary as i got married at The Altitude restaurant. I try to return every yr for our anniversary and this experience was extremely poor. My tv did not work & waited 30min to get it fixed, the toilet did not flush properly and twice the shower hot water went cold while my wife showered. When you pay the sort of money i paid for the premium room at a well known 5 star hotel as Shangri La these issues should not be happening in this day and age and its embarrassing. I will not return in a hurry or recommend it to anyone.
The starter is bad. The beef and dessert is okay. View is nice over the window
We were upgraded to a higher floor with an excellent view. We found all of the staff that we dealt with were very obliging and courteous.
The breakfast was amazing plenty to choose from.
Wanted to spend our last night in Australia (Valentine's Day) w/a beautiful view & tasty dinner in our room. Room was great. Appreciated WiFi. Gave a 4 as movies were $16.95 and Room Service Dinner fell short. Our barramundi was missing the main ingredient, Lemon Beurre Blanc sauce. So disappointed that we went elsewhere for breakfast. Reception Desk: Friendly, helpful. Appreciated early check-in & late check-out due to being on crutches.
We had great customer service from when we arrived in our taxi until when we left. We were greeted promptly and our bags were taken up to our room for us. Check in was a quick process and we were up in our room in no time. The room (deluxe king harbour room) was a divine view of the city/ harbour/ sydney opera house. We had dinner at Altitude which was great since it was in the hotel's top floor. The food and customer service was incredible- we had the four course meal and loved everything we had. Everyone was very friendly and we had the window view of the city which was great! We ordered room service in the morning and was a great experience as well. No bad things to say ! Would definitely stay here again if in Sydney.
The hotel location and amenities are very good. The check-in staff do not deliver 5 star service. They didn't wish us a happy anniversary (noted on the booking). The room was not ready which she just took as a opportunity to try and sell More
Harbour view room worth the upgrade, average hotel buffet breakfast
Great hotel, not far from opera house. Good facility
I love the location and the size of my room but don t think I am getting value for money. More specifically, the overall ambiance looks very tired , no pleasant feel and many doors have scratches. I definitely encourage a major renovation for this property.
Everything at top of the market with the best view in the world, love it!!!
Great hotel and perfect location on explore the Rocks area of Sydney
This is my home away from home i love the service and the hotel its self is amazing
The only five star hotel in Sydney. Amazing views, warm n friendly yet professional service.
Originally Shangri-La is my favorite hotel. This time I took EHV room to enjoy the scenery of Sydney. However, for some reason, the window glass was dirty and I was a little disappointed. It feels like the scenery of the sale has been depreciated.
Nice hotel. with a great view of the opera house and harbour bridge (if you're in the right rooms). a little short staffed during peak season. otherwise great
Staff make a company and all the staff at Shangri-La were exceptional...especially Ellen and Ehsan on the front desk...first impressions are so important.
I am so happy that I chose to stay in your hotel, and my rooms had the most spectacular views that I could ve hoped for. But I had a problem with my first room, where I could smell gas in it after they worked on my heat, and the next room had a ton of trash behind the sofa. Because of all of this I was given various refunds and considerations and all of those things are very appreciated by me. I was also sent to the airport with a delicious box of food, exactly what I asked for, and that made me very happy and I also appreciated it. I think that your customer service is very good. I think that your hotel is Spectacular. I was also given a birthday cake for my friend which was lovely. However, there is much room for improvement when it comes to the housekeeping. Also, it is dangerous to have unclean air going into a room. I didn t really feel it was taken seriously enough. I had to work a bit too hard to receive the compensation I felt I deserved. I am glad that nothing happened to me but it was very scary to be in a room with a terrible toxic smell.
I was charged two times AUD 3800.i spoke with the guest relations manager she accepted there was a mistake but still i haven't got my money back to my account. its almost 4 days since i checked out.
Unpleasant experience taking cab from hotel to airport
My colleague and I took a cab from the hotel to the Sydney international airport on 15 Dec at about 1:50pm. The driver took us on a ride and clocked up $110 for over an hour for what should have been a 16 km trip. He was recalcitrant and even threatening, and at time we feared for our safety. Just glad to reach the airport safely after the incident.
Whilst the hotel should not be responsible for such drivers, it can go a long way to assure tourists travelling from the hotel to the airport that they will be safe. It is totally inconceivable that such things can happen in Sydney and to my knowledge, it is not the first time i heard this.
Kindly investigate. The driver was pompous and said there is not much that can be done. You may PM me for more details. The details of the cab are below. The driver said he is of Bangladeshi origin.
The room was 1st class. My wife and I were were very thankful of the early book in as we had just got off a cruise ship. Also a female member of your staff [sorry did not get her name] seen my wife and I pushing and pulling our luggage up the hill near the motel. She offered to help and actually dragged 1 suitcase for us. Much appreciated. Staff were really good. Breakfast was all you needed. Thanks again.
Disappointed that we could not get into the Blu Bar in the evening so we had to go to the lobby bar. (No priority for Horizon Club members).
Also we had to wait at least an hour to receive food ordered in the lobby bar. Was not quite the same experience compared to other 5 Star Hotels in Sydney.
Well appointed rooms and very good service levels. Views of the Opera House are great too if you're on the right side.
location was great, but too much people on weeked to check out.... hassle to check out, not enough staff as well.
We enjoyed an amazing stay in a horizon club room. Every aspect of our stay was impeccable.
Fantastic views from our room and level 36. Lovely hotel, beautiful rooms, nice and quiet. Great amenities, excellent staff. Handy location too. Would definitely stay again.
The bed was not comfortable. Having a king bed with two joined single, makes a depression in between and uncomfortable. The room service order for a ice cream tub, was told that it will take 40 min!!!! Hence Could not place a order at 11 pm!!!
Rest all was of good standard.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great views. Wonderful location
We had a warm greeting the moment we stepped out from taxi. Front desk is superb efficient and helpful.
Room is very clean and housekeeping is doing an excellent job.
Horizon club Manager and crew is fantastic
We had a wonderful stay ar Shangri-la hotel, will definitely stay there again when visit to Sydney again. Thank you
A state of the art property with very interesting and unique architectures....
Loved our 2 night stay here. Wonderful view, room and amenities. So often you pay a lot nowadays for very little but the Shangri-La hotel appears to still hold to a high standard. The staff are all very friendly and willing to help. Will definitely stay here again.
Lovely hotel, good location for The Rocks area and Circular Quay. A very nice stay!
Great service though good was rather dry for the price.
Only issue we had was that the windows on both of our rooms were dirty. The view of the Opera House and Circular Quay is one of the world's iconic views - such a pity, not to mention a disappointment, for the view to be spoilt by dirty windows.
Fantastic location - great hospitality, good restaurant menu and amazing breakfast buffet
We had an excellent stay. All the staff we fantastic, we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and they accommodated every wish. A perfect stay.
Need better options on food menus & serve moet by the glass in the lounge
Customer service from check-in to check-out was amazing. The room was beautiful, very comfortable with all you need and the best views of the harbour!
I had only stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel for one night, and I was out for most of the day. The service was immaculate, very polite and always ready to help, i was even given a bottle of wine as complimentary! (it was also someone birthday I was staying with). The hotel had Valet parking and had retrieved the car for myself as well when chekcing out. Our room was floor 20 and had a decent view of the Opera house, while half of the other view was another hotel, still great view though. The ground level area was very aesthetically pleasing and the bathrooms were very clean and well designed with a classical Romanesque design. I did not use the facilities such as the pool spa or gym, just as I never had time. The Rooms looked very good, a tiny bit aged but nothing realistically to complain about. There is a selection of food available but I did not try any as I was eating out, cannot review the food properly. Overall 4.5 stars out of 5, service was the best part, the hotel looked nice as well. Would consider returning.
Great place to stay with family or couple~ well looked after and great service and kind atmosphere. Would love to come back in the future.
Amazing 5 star hotel with the best Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House views.
Thank you to Christine for your amazing check in and check out service, our room was incredible!!
Lovely and friendly staff. Made for a very special first wedding anniversary.
From check in to check out the service was excellent. The staff in the Horizon Club were extremely helpful and efficient. we really enjoyed our stay.
Started off a bit rocky but got there in the end. Special thank you to Lo the guest services manager and to Kieron Hunt for making my birthday getaway such a wonderful experience. This hotel is in a great location and has excellent views. Will definitely be saying here on my next adventure to Sydney.
Absolutely amazing hotel with amazing views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Close to The Rocks and all the great shopping and events Sydney has to offer. The breakfast buffet is enormous, has a wide variety of food and beverages to be made however you like, and is just pleasant to be in. The staff are absolutely lovely people, super accommodating and helpful. We had staff ringing our door to offer hot towels and replenish our mini bar without even asking, which was awesome. The pool was refreshing and at one point in the evening we could see fireworks over the harbour. Our bathroom was huge and beautiful and had everything we needed. The bed was big and comfortable. Just an overall incredible experience, one of the best stays I have had.
I sincerely wish I had a longer stay here and I would absolutely stay here again given the opportunity. Thank you for making my boyfriend and I so comfortable and happy for our Sydney trip! Your hotel was truly something special.
There were so many issues with my stay that left me feeling like the Shangri-La is, at best, a 4 star venue. The room was not clean, it was dated and very tired, no water or a half-drunk box.
Really unacceptable for this type of establishment
The staff were not engaged and sometimes a little rude.
Don t waste your time or money at Shangrila Sydney. We arrived yesterday 7/8/20 for a 3 day staycation. It s been a rough year. I work in a Medical centre and these past 6 months of Covid have been very stressful. My husband runs his own business and keeping on track has been hard work for him, often working 7 days a week to keep the business and his staff afloat. We need a break.
Check in was fine but we were NOT told that only one food outlet is open in the hotel. I found that out at 6:30pm when I called guest services to get a booking for dinner. I was told only Altitude is open and that we could only get a table at 8pm.
We arrived at the restaurant just before 8, no one was at the desk. After waiting 10 minutes someone finally came. We were told we had to use our phones to register our details for contact tracing. Fair enough except we don t take our phones to dinner, we prefer to talk to each other. After some discussion the waitress eventually begrudgingly wrote our details down. Why wasn t I told this when I booked thr table?
Next it turns out there s no booking in our name. The girl made several calls and we could hear her saying but they claim they did book She made us feel totally unwelcome and as if we were lying. There was now about 12 people behind us, no social distancing.
Eventually the girl went and got someone else who also wanted the whole story. Eventually after about 15 minutes we were taken to a table. We were given the menu, a set menu at AU$145 per head. I just wanted one light course but there was not an option for this. So for 3 evening meals during our stay we would pay close to $1000 without drinks and there was no other option except room service.
We walked out and went to our room and ordered room service and were told it would be 45 minutes. We asked them to fast track it. It came quite quickly but my salmon was cold because it had only been cooked on one side. The other side was completely raw. I d had a caesar salad in the room at lunch time and the chicken was pink in the middle and the bread rolls were so hard i couldn t break one open, inedible.
I went down and asked to speak to the duty manager to tell her everything. Angela said she would look into it. When we hadn t heard anything from her by 12 the next morning we booked a room at The Four Seasons and left. We stood outside waiting for our car and were not helped at all with our luggage.
When we checked out we were told I would get an email detailing the bill. We didn t want to pay for the 3 nights booked just the awful one we spent there. Nothing arrived. I called 5 hours later and was told that it looked like we were still in the system as being there! My husband had to leave our new hotel to go back to the Shangri-La to sort it out. When he got there we had already been checked out!
Total incompetence from start to finish. Rooms old, dark and tired and the food was awful, expensive and limited. Thank God for The Four Seasons, loving it here!
Room was lovely with the view of the harbor bridge and opera house, but the windows BADLY need to be cleaned so the unique bay window benches weren t used as much as they deserve to be. The bathroom shower could use an update/glass had lots of residue as well as it s a bit small compared to other 5 star hotels and resorts I ve stayed with. The food wasn t great either and I preferred to dine out rather than eat there which was a bit of a disappointment. Housekeeping and room service was great. All staff was fantastic and personable as well. Would rate a 4 out of 5 overall.
The view was very good.
The amenities were good, soundproof, and the heating was also good.
Very pleasant helpful staff providing a prompt service. The lift upgrade will make a big difference.
Had High Tea. Staff was friendly, food was tasty, and views were to die for.
Service was great however the hotel is looking tired. Other than the great view i feel the hotel was pricey.
It was a very good experience. Very friendly and helpful staff, impeccable cleanliness, fantastic room.
As less positive points:
- Restaurant Prices
- There is no table service at the bar
- Bar employees are not at the level of the rest of the staff. They are not friendly, they do not take into account who arrives first. Honestly from the bar, I didn't have a good experience and I don't think I can recommend it
Here for an event, well located, Wilson parking station close by, well catered, good facilities.
The view from the rooms on the upper floors is breathtaking. I would recommend!
Didnt stay here. Only went for the breakfast buffet which was excellent
Lovely hotel and staff however we booked a room with an opera house view and club lounge and this was lovely however we need darkness to sleep there was too many flashing lights keeping us awake, ie in the hall way and bathroom of a night, also the beside clock illuminstes and the safe in the cupboard plus the light switches . Very noisy in the morning from staff setting up club lounge.
The harbour view was definitely unbeatable. The staff were polite and helpful. One thing I need to mention is that the minibar was refilled after my arrival, which wasn't a real issue for me, but could be annoying for others. Room facilities were generally in good condition. I like the universal plugs a lot. However, there was a problem with the sink in the bathroom. The sink plug couldn't stay at the open position, making the sink drain quite slowly, so I had to remove it. My room was on 14th floor and I noticed 2 of the lifts would make a weird stretched sound when arriving. Hopefully they will fix it, it's funny to hear it though.
Very good hotel with great service.
Had a bit of hiccups with reservation but all good after all.
Great view of Sydney harbour and good location.
Very small pool but decent size gym.
Had high tea buffet at blu bar. Great selection of savoury and sweets. Best view of Sydney. Was a nice morning out with friends. Bit pricey but I think you re mainly paying for the view rather than the food. We came for a friend s birthday and she enjoyed it. We also had unlimited drinks (champagne and tea). Highly recommend for a birthday or special occasion. The staff were also very attentive and never left our glasses empty. Nice Saturday morning out.
Upon check-in, I was not offered the Breakfast offering and did not know about the Rooftop Restaurant/Bar. Essential information for visitors. Location is amazing though as it was just 2 blocks from the Business Office and less than 8 min walk down to the Circular Quay. Great room views.
One of my favorite hotel in Sydney along with the pier one hotel. While the latter is at the foot of the Sydney bridge on the water, the shangrila has by far the best view in tow and that amazing shangrila feel you find in all their hotel. The rooftop bar is also a must.
It was an amazing time. Summing pool were very clean and staffs were very friendly. Nice Breakfast as well!
View is fantastic and staff were very friendly and attentive. An excellent location that is close to everything you need in the city.
The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The room we stayed in was beautiful and the view was amazing! We ordered room service and the dinner we ordered was very good and the service was prompt.
Great hotel, one of the best in Sydney. Great rooms, awesome food and amazing views from the altitude bar. Great for work functions or for a holiday.
