Amy Beck Cake Design Review

The cake Amy did for our baby's gender reveal party, a 3-tiered cake with superheroes and princesses, was AMAZING!!! We only told her our favorite characters, and let her come up with the best artistic flavor. The cake perfectly tied into our theme, and the guests were raving about it. Not to mention the taste. Lots of people had multiple slices. I had enough to take home as well, which made my preggo self very happy!! I still get happy thinking about the chocolate devil s food cake) with Salted Caramel buttercream...mmmmm!!!

Our cake was AWESOME! Pre-covid, my husband and I had a different idea for our cake that we worked on with Amy. When we had to change our plans from a 175 person wedding to a 35 person wedding, Amy was super flexible and worked with us to design a new cake that was more fitting for our smaller wedding at our new venue. It was absolutely beautiful! It was perfect for our venue and was absolutely DELICIOUS! Our top layer was devil's food cake and the bottom layer was almond cake. Everyone was raving about how good it was for days after the wedding. We highly recommend Amy Beck Cake Designs, and hope to work with her again in the future because her cakes are seriously SO good!

We had the most delicious wedding cake ever from Amy Beck! The cake tasting and selection was a highlight of our planning. The ordering process was simple and they staff was great to work with. There was a great selection of flavors. On the day of our wedding, the cake arrived with no issues and we enjoyed it so much! We definitely recommend Amy Beck Cake Design for your wedding day. I reached out to Amy after seeing glowing reviews here about her work. Our entire communication was by email and she made it very easy for me. I ordered a baptismal cake and she executed my requests to a tee. The exterior was perfect and the taste was perfection. I would recommend her unreservedly.

Every time I have a special event, I reach out to Amy for a custom cake. In the last 10 years, she's made five cakes for me! Amy is fantastic to work with: she listens to your suggestions and ideas, she is super creative, and her cakes are delicious, not just beautiful. The cakes are always the centerpiece and most talked about part of the events and it's always just a little sad to cut into the cake! I highly recommend Amy and her team.

I inquired about not one but two custom cakes. Very disappointed at the reponse I received.

Verbatim: "Unfortunately, we have a minimum order of 100 slices so I don't believe we will be the best fit for your needs."

Are you serious? I've never ordered a custom cake before but I also have never had a business tell me that they could not accommodate. In fact, out of the 5 bakeries I contacted this week. This was the only bakery that responded such a thing. Not everyone that comes through their doors is going to want a 100 slice cake, to have that as a minimum is ridiculous. It's not mentioned on the website about any minumum required. There are pictures of custom children's cake that I know darn well did not serve 100 people (a 7 year old has 100 guest party???), so to receive that response, I was compelled to write a review. I would have thought a smaller request would be honored because its less work. If you have a small party or request. Do not bother with this bakery! Your business is not welcome.

Steady line outside the door but it goes by fairly quickly. The smell out the door is all the motivation you need to stay in line, and trust me, the pastries do not disappoint! All the pastries were good but my favorites would have to go to the Kouign Amann and plain 'ole croissant.

Our experience with Amy Beck was five star from the second we began our process with them. The tasting was fun and Amy is truly the sweetest to work with.

Sorry for the late post! I absolutely loved my welding cake Amy Beck and team made for my welding school during Halloween! Very professional, great taste, and delivery service! The staff always kept me updated and were always polite! I would definitely come back when we have our next big party! I recommend anyone to try out their cakes! DELICIOUS! Thank you again!!

We ve ordered multiple cakes from Amy, and they never disappoint. Amazing attention to detail, and the cake itself always tastes delicious. We ve also ordered cookies, and the same applies there as well!

I attempted to set up a cake tasting for my mom, sister and I, as something special for my sister's upcoming wedding (and to help her get ideas). I was told that my sister had to have the exact date and place picked out already. The woman on the phone was very frosty about this. This is a cake tasting that we would be paying for, not an attempt to get free food. Additionally, my mom, sister and I only manage to be in the same place once a year or so. It would have been nice if this place, which was so well reviewed, could have worked with me just a little. Just a suggestion: if charging for the cake tasting, maybe don't be so haughty regarding who is allowed to set up a tasting. Also, consider compassion when dealing with families who live fairly far apart and cannot just buzz up at any time they would like.

Allow me to say that this is the first time I m posting a review, and this is specifically to rave about the cake I just received from Amy. This is the most gorgeous cake I've ever seen! I had the idea of ordering a designer cake influenced by chinoiserie, and Amy saw this through fruition. Throughout our email communication, she was thorough and professional and had obviously done this many times, but still so kind. I could easily see she wanted the cake to be as amazing as I wanted it to be. She gave artistic suggestions and made the process so easy as a client. She was so accommodating and collaborative, that ordering this cake felt more like a project we were both in on! And her deep passion for what she does is evident in all of the fine details and even how she held the cake while delivering. If she is available, I will be using her for every cake I order in Chicago.

Also, I saw the one Louboutin cake review on yelp and still went ahead and ordered anyway. If you look at all of that yelper's reviews, most are negative. I have a hard time believing that every single business she encounters gives her that hard of a time. Perhaps it's just bad luck. So to anyone thinking of using Amy, it will be such a GREAT decision!

Amy Beck cakes are fabulous. If you want the feel of a small family owned bakery, the creativity of an artist, and the taste of a French bakery you must get a wedding cake from Amy.
We came to her with our big gay design concept: simple, timeless, fresh and modern. Going in for a tasting here was one of my most fond experiences because you don t do it in a waiting room, you are in the bakery where the magic happens - sitting next to giant mixers!
We had a design inspiration to include some Keith Haring inspired art. (Fabulous 80s nyc artist lost to hiv)
She totally nailed it with a beautiful buttercream frosted cake with the Haring art on top. We even had my husbands moms jam baked inside which made it all the more special. We got the jam shipped from NC and Amy included it as filling.
She was pleasant, flexible and wonderful. Yassss Amy Beck cakes.

Amy and her team created a fabulous cake for my brother and sister-in-law's baby shower! She took my concept and turned it into an absolutely adorable cake that showcased both of the parents-to-be's childhoods. And it was delicious! Everyone absolutely adored it and I am so grateful she made the process so simple from design to delivery. If you are in the Chicago area, call Amy to make your cake!

Amy Beck is the best and so fun to work with! My husband and I got married at the Planetarium on the 50th anniversary of man landing on the moon. Amy helped us to create the most gorgeous galactic unique wedding cake and OMG did it taste out of this world good!!! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Have had a wedding cake and an anniversary cake made by Amy. She is truly the best at what she does. Planning a third cake for a 50th anniversary party as we speak...cannot wait for the finished product!

Amy was fantastic to work with! Due to covid we didn't decide we would have a wedding cake until just 2 weeks before the date at our very small celebration with 12 people. Amy was quick and very helpful in picking out the right details for our cake. It was delicious and everyone at our mini-cocktail hour was able to enjoy a piece.

Do yourself a favor and try this place. The service was very welcoming and sociable.

Classic Wedding Car was the perfect ending to our amazing wedding. Our grand exit from our reception ended as we climbed into one of their beautiful classic cars. We were made to feel like royalty with champagne and a personal chauffeur to our hotel. Classic Wedding Car worked with us and provided a perfect image of what we imagined our wedding would look like. They were flexible and very professional at all times and got us to our hotel safely and in style. We would definitely recommend Classic Wedding Car to anyone who is looking to add some gorgeous flare to their event.

There are so many words to describe the amazing experience I had working with Amy - she is kind, thoughtful, relatable, and on top of everything else A COMPLETE MASTER OF HER CRAFT. During the planning process, Amy was easy to communicate with and completely understood my vision. Our tasting experience was intimate and exciting. It took place in her cake studio which is more like a showroom, with beautiful cakes adorning the windows.

When I walked into the reception and first saw our cake , I was floored - it was a true work of art with countless, beautiful sugar flowers. Our cake was absolutely STUNNING to look at and it was DELICIOUS. We received SO many compliments the entire evening, and for weeks beyond, about both the design and taste of our cake.
