My 16 year old attended the intensive outpatient program for 12 weeks. During the last 3 weeks he begun testing positive again and the program and group leaders neglected to let myself or my husband know (despite attending every family group and my son signing a release). Upon calling to verify a class time my son s counselor told me that she couldn t help him and referred me to another program. They did apologize for not notifying me of his relapse, and that s the only nice thing I can say about the program.

The PHP and IOP program was helpful and what I needed at the time but I felt most of the empathy, motivation, and support came from fellow group members more than the staff. Staff aren t bad people, I think they care about the individuals to some level but unfortunately doing a profession everyday they lose that genuine touch. You can t expect them to actually care about you at the cost of their rules and regulations basically. Just feels like an extension of corporate world in the mental health arena. I m grateful for my experiences here, but I owe it more to myself and the amazing people I met more than the staff.
