Great place to be together with family for family style breakfast. Visit the Ox Yoke Inn and then stroll the area for Christmas decorations(international), the Woolen, Wine and the Furniture(clocks, comfy rockers, etc) shops.

WE STAYED AT YOUR CAMPGROUND TWO YEARS AGO ON OUR WAY TO OUR SON AND DAUGHTER IN LAWS IN DENVER FOR THE BIRTH OF OUR GRANDDAUGHTER.
IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME THERE. WE LOVED HOW PEACEFUL THE CAMP WAS, HOW FRIENDLY EVERYONE WAS AND WE WISHED WE WEREN'T ON SUCH A TIME RESTRAINT BECAUSE WE COULDN'T TAKE ALL THE SHOPS IN. (WE ACTUALLY HAD TWO GRANDDAUGHTER'S COMING THE SAME DAY IN TWO STATES) BUT TRUST ME THIS MOM MOM GOT HER SHOPPING IN
WE ATE DINNER AT THE INN. GOOD LORD, WE ORDERED THE FAMILY STYLE MEAL FOR THE TWO OF US! I CAN SAY WE DID NOT LEAVE THERE HUNGRY! BUT THE MOST SURPRISING DISH I ATE WAS THE SAUERKRAUT. I DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER HAD A FRESHER KRAUT IN MY LIFE! I BOUGHT 2 LARGE JARS TO TAKE HOME THINKING I COULD ORDER MORE WHEN I GOT HOME BECAUSE WE WOULD BE ON THE ROAD FOR A MONTH.
I WAS SO SAD TO LEARN THAT WAS ONE ITEM THAT'S NOT FOR SALE THROUGH YOUR INTERNET SITE.
WE HOPE TO PASS YOUR WAY AGAIN SOON. BABY NUMBER 2 IS ON HIS WAY! I WON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN, I WILL STOCK UP ON OUR NEXT PASS THROUGH WITH NO HESITATION!
THANK YOU ALSO FOR A PERFECT DINNER! WE WERE SO IMPRESSED WITH IT, WE RETURNED FOR BREAKFAST THE NEXT MORNING.. YOU DID NOT LET US DOWN THEN EITHER. WE WERE SENT ON THE ROAD QUITE FULL. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO STOP TO EAT AGAIN UNTIL CLOSE TO DINNER TIME! WE ATE OUR LEFTOVERS FROM DINNER! YUUUMMM!

Very unique place. Great shops and restaurants. There are seven villages and they are not really within walking distance. We had lunch at the brewery and had some great German food. Will definitely visit again.

What a wonderful place to visit. One of the last opportunities in this area to see what remains of a very old community and their processes including the Woolen Mills, and the furniture manufacturing plant in addition to some of the stores and historical sites

This quaint village in the middle of Iowa's corn fields is definitely a destination. We enjoyed the many sights, boutiques, eateries and rustic historic photo ops! We will be returning and sharing our excitement with others! A solid 5 stars.

The place is a treasure trove of history, food and crafts. Walking through looking at everything takes hours. Come when they give tours. Come when they have the candle displays around Christmas. Just come!

Wonderful small town feel with amazing shops. I especially like the quilt shops, meat market and the General Store. We camp here every fall in their clean campground with spacious sites. Love it!

Everyone should go here once. Definitely read up on the history of the colonies before arriving. If you use a walker of wheelchair, some things will be challenging or you can't do. Don't go during Oktoberfest unless you are doing Oktoberfest.

Of course, no visit would be complete without sampling some local cuisine! The Amana Colonies are known for their hearty German-style dishes like sausages and sauerkraut as well as sweet treats like homemade pies and pastries. And with several wineries & breweries located within easy driving distance from town (including Millstream Brewing Company), visitors can also enjoy locally made beer & wine while taking in stunning views of rolling hillsides.
