The service was horrible and the food was barely edible. Never order the Italian food. The only part that was decent was the meat sauce but that was ruined by the large amounts of water dumped on the plate with the noodles which also ruined the garlic bread. I think the bread could've been good had it been served on its own plate! Duh!! Who likes soggy garlic bread?? They also served deep fried ravioli covered in sauce rather than the sauce on the side. Who likes soggy deep fried ravioli? The only benefit of this was it softened the undercooked ravioli. If you're not going to do it well don't offer it or only offer it as a special when you're prepared to do it well. A large menu only works if it's done right and this wasn't even close!!

Very fast we recieved our food within 10minutes it felt like so that's always a plus. Food was great my girl had the triple berry French toast and I the country fried steak. No complaints at all the services was very friendly. The booths were a tight fit though and tables seemed low so for bigger people it's a little awkward. But will definitely come back.

The menu is huge including Italian, American, Mexican, and Greek. Way to much to look at and none of it is worth your time the food is lack luster and very bland. I doubt the chef had a clue what he was doing! I now feel sick to my stomach thanks Amilias

This restaurant defies the ADA law and meets you with open hostility whilst also projecting their own issues upon you. Haven't a clue about the food, as the one order I placed was incorrect and not consumable. I hope they train their managers better on what is and isn't acceptable for a business to do (hint- don't start going on endlessly about something not even related to the issue. Also, do not ask a customer "well what medical condition do you have? We need to know." Shame on you. Do better for your next customer. There's the easy solution of going "So sorry your order got screwed up and you did not get to eat what you ordered. We will try to do better next time and will take this as a learning opportunity on how to better ourselves." The twenty minute rant and endless invasive questions were beyond inappropriate.

None of the staff was wearing masks, including the kitchen staff making the food. I felt incredibly unsafe the entire time I was there, and will not be coming back. I have loved this place for years. This is so disappointing.

Very good food consistently, and friendly and attentive service. We have been eating here for over 10 years, it's a 'must stop' every time I visit Wisconsin.
I definitely recommend the lightly fried perch with fries - their coleslaw is amazing - as well as their breakfast skillets. Everything I've ever tried there I like.
And the wait staff is perfect! Sweet and friendly, but also check in just the right amount to make sure you have what you need. Dining in felt safe and clean.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

3.5 stars. Ok food. Lots of choices. Good sandwiches and soup. Asked for water one time and they served tap water that tasted bad rather than the filtered water from the soda machine. Otherwise decent comfort food. Amalia is a worker and good. One of the other waitresses was a little quirky with her personality but gave good service.

Great variety on their menu, we're so glad they're open again. We went in a little late for Friday fish (baked this time), but the service was still fantastic. Everyone is always friendly, and everything from the soup to the main course was fantastic!

I thoroughly enjoy this place. The food isn't particularly spectacular, but what they do they do right. The sheer amount of options is a wonder. In the mood for breakfast? Lunch? Italian? Mexican? Why not get them all? This place is that diverse. Truly something for everybody. Add to that some truly decadent desserts and you've got Amalia's. Definitely worth a try.

We stopped in this morning for breakfast after church. We walked in and sat ourselves. We missed the sign that said to wait to be seated. Last week we sat ourselves, so we just figured that the way it was. Anyway, the guy came over to tell us that we couldn't seat ourselves and was very rude. Not friendly at all. We simply made a mistake. I will never eat at this establishment again. I will not be treated like that by anyone. I will say when we ate there last week the food was pretty good and the girl who waited on us was ok. Still, there are many other choices in the area. I won't spend my money at this place.

Love love love Amalia's! I go here quite frequently and have never had a bad experience! The staff is super amazing. They have great food, service, and customer service! I usually do to go orders on Saturday and have always been extremely satisfied with the food as well as the close knit group that works there! This restaurant has been around for a long time and for good reason! It offers great variety, food, and service for a GREAT price!

First time trying and probably the last. The food wasn t horrible, but it wasn t very good either. We ordered the panini and corned beef skillet.

I ll list my order of complaints, which will hopefully help someone else before ordering over the phone.

1. Price is different from what it shows online. It does state that pricing is subject to change but maybe you could mention that while on the phone? I didn t think I had to read the fine print before ordering.

2. The skillet on the menu clearly shows that it comes with fresh potatoes. The corned beef skillet had barely any corned beef and it came with regular hash browns. I called and the manager told me I ordered the wrong skillet, because the Irish skillet comes with fresh potatoes? That doesn t even exist on their online menu. Otherwise I can upgrade to fresh potatoes for $1.98 extra.

3. They charged an extra $2 for cheese on the hash browns. That seems a bit much for a slice or two of fake kraft cheese. Wasn t even real cheddar.

4. Hash browns were mushy and bread was very soggy.

I m all for supporting the local businesses in town, and don t mind paying extra for quality food. This honestly could be resolved by updating your menu online or mentioning something while on the phone.

I hope this helps someone, and also if management sees this, please take these complaints into consideration. The other restaurants in town that serve breakfast have been better from my experience so far.

If you want good breakfast, go to the Train Depot instead!!! Very greasy. Cooks don't care about what they're putting out on the tables. I'm shocked at the high reviews on this place. Mediocre service. This was my first, and last, time here. Very bland. Waste of money.

The atmosphere was the most appetizing aspect of the restaurant. We really enjoy the old fashion family diner vibe, unfortunately that was the only enjoyable part of our experience with Amalias. I really hope that management reads these posts because the waitress that helped us the two consecutive mornings we visited the restaurant attempted to pull the same scheme both times we visited. The waitress who s name escapes me since she never provided it, was very poor at her job. I have been a server, a bartender, and I have worked many years in the food hospitality business. I know the tricks of the trade and I STRONGLY suspect that our waitress is pocketing money from your business. During Both visits to the restaurant (we had the same waitress each time) we were overcharged for our breakfasts. It was hard to determine at first because the system in which they use to submit orders seems very ambiguous and old fashioned. Our receipt simply read food and there were numerous charges for each line of food. Those charges were each a dollar or two more than what we had ordered. I know a few $ doesn t seem like a big deal, but for it to happen two days in a row seemed odd. Upon examining the bill we determined there was an additional $6 added between the two orders. We confronted the waitress regarding the charges since this was the second occurrence in two days. The waitress didn t even let me finish speaking about how the charges didn t match with what she ordered when she hurriedly grabbed both our receipts and returned moments later with completely changed receipts reflecting our actual orders. Since the food tickets are hand written and submitted to the cooks it dawned on me how easy it would be for a server to present us a bill that was $6 higher than it should be, hiding additional charges under food When punching in the order in their old fashion register. Then later when she is collecting the payment for the order she simply could delete the extra food charges from our order so the bill then matched her written copy of what we actually ordered and she could pocket the difference. Again I have no proof of this since our receipts were taken from us and She obv. didn t confess her scheme to us upfront. However, The way she responded to our inquiries regarding the bill and additionally how poorly she took care of her guests,(almost like doesn t care how her guests feel since she is making $ off the bill either way) I would say it s something that should at the very least be looked in to. During both visits she didn t get everyone s drink order on her first trip to the table, she instead ignored the kids at the table until we called her over again to complete our drink orders. Our food was delivered with lightening speed but was not very appetizing (for the exception of the Belgium waffle-this was sublime) the food appearance was greasy and looked to have been reheated. Half of what we ordered was also incorrect and the waitress offered no empathy or apology for the mistakes...additionally after dropping off our new receipts the waitress ignored our table so we had to go up to the register and pay (no big deal), however that furthers my suspicion that there was some fowl play happening here.

At the end of it all, I will not be returning here to dine in the future. However, there are plenty of positive reviews depicting many seemingly enjoyable visits to this quaint little diner. I hope the issues we experienced get addressed, so this one individual doesn t continue to tarnish the image of what seems to be a well liked place by most others who visit.

My ref# on my receipt was 9832, we visited on 8/25/19 at 10:04 according to the time stamp on the receipt. Hope this helps!

Won t be returning here. I ordered the corned beef hash for breakfast. I asked if it was homemade or from a can and the server said it was definitely homemade and fresh. It was definitely out of a can. It came like slop on the plate and was sitting in a pool of oil. Totally inedible. The service was decent which is why I gave it two stars. The food at the restaurant is far from fresh. Eeeew

This is the best family restaurant in Oconomowoc. Food is always good and the people who work here are always very pleasant. The owners are frequently there and talk to the customers. Good home cooking & great breakfast foods/meals. Their burgers are really good with options to build your own. Cant beat this wonderful place.

I have been coming here for years. There is always a choice on the menu for me. The staff is more than pleasant, and the quality of food is superb. They have great soup and desserts served fresh everyday. One of the few places that serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Keep up the great work!

Food was expensive and menu a bit misleading. Kids meals dont all come with a side and if you get a side of fruit it costs an extra $2. My husband's cheese for his cheeseburger cost us an extra $2. My kids undercooked fries cost an extra $3 in addition to her $7 kids pizza that was clearly microwaved. Our food came out way too fast for what we ordered. We could have ate at Texas roadhouse or a like restaurant for a family of 4 for cheaper and had real food, not frozen food warmed up. We feel robbed.

Cozy little home away from home for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just coffee and great muffins. Always bright and friendly whether at a booth or at the curved counter. Tasty and varied menu including American, Greek and Mexican fare served up by equally bright and friendly staff. If you're lucky, you might even be served by the restaurant namesake!

In a market where as a customer you have any number of choices, I keep frequenting Amalia's. Great breakfast. Clean, friendly and a welcoming presentation. They update and add new items to their menu. It's an anchor in the downtown area for the Theatre Mall with convenient in parking and access.

A very family friendly atmosphere.

A little advice: I'd get there early on a Sunday, as the word is out with the "after church" crowd. Obvious reasons for their popularity. The owners are wonderful people, great food, and the staff is top rate.

Bottom line is, I enjoy their small town family atmosphere, tasty meals and personal service. They have my continued patronage. - BG Oconomowoc.

If I were you, I would not go here. This has been a great staple for our family, but unfortunately today we will be rethinking if we ever come here again. We were charged $8 for 2 sides of avocados. The owner told us that was simply the cost and it's nonsense. You will be charged for a side of butter here. Reconsider going here and try other local restaurants instead.
