Altitude Sky Lounge (San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Qtr.) Review

I was not at Altitude for a long time but the short time that was there I had a lot of fun. Bar service was fast and drink were good.Awesome place to hangout. Super quiet and peaceful during the week, and becomes a party on the weekends! Both are quite nice! Great bartenders and drinks! Pricing is quite reasonable for what you're getting! Nice spot to take friends from outta town. Breathtaking view of the city.

Anytime I have any friend in town that wants to check out places that aren't too touristy, I take them to Altitude Sky Lounge.

It is HANDS DOWN the best view of all of San Diego. If you're not too big on baseball during the season you can take periodic glances at the game because you can see directly int Petco Park.

I also love that it's a nice place to relax and drink with friends but you don't have to be all dressed up to go. There is an indoor lounge with a TV and a fireplace that people tend to congregate around. There is plenty of space to have your own space and view.

If you get hungry, you can also get some food from the hotel delivered up to you. The weekends they typically have a DJ but it is by no means a club. 100% lounge and chat feel. When it is busy they have multiple bars open. Slower nights they have the one bar with a beautiful waterfall backdrop.

This place presents several opportunities to take photos whether you are a social media influencer or just want a nice picture of you and your significant other! HIGHLY recommend! Definitely bring a jacket or light sweater though as it can be breezy since you're near the water and high up in the city.

This bar seems to be ok with people smoking everywhere. Neither the bouncers or bartenders seem to care.

22nd floor small rooftop. No cover when we went. No one was dancing, not even sure there was a dancefloor. It was super packed on a Saturday night. DJ wasn't bad though, view is nice. EXPENSIVE drinks! We spent $62 on 6 drinks (a few bottom-shelf mixed drinks & few beers) after that we left, overpriced.

I come here often and it's really nice! Very laid back and formal! It can be a little chilly so bring a jacket since it's outdoors and all the way of the top of the Marriott! Buy the Adios drink if you like a stronger cocktail, yum!

Great atmosphere, good drinks and a amazing view of the padres stadium

Absolutely breathtaking view every time with Petco Park and downtown in the background. Came mid week without the crowd-- so serene and relaxing. The clear glass balcony provided a magnificent view of the colorfully lit downtown skyline. Lounge chairs with heat lamps and circular seating area with fire pit are cozy and perfect for a date or group outing on those chilly nights. Love all the color changing visual stimulation.

Great staff and best views of downtown San Diego! Best time to visit is right around sunset.

Great lounge with an amazing view. Drinks a little pricey, but that is expected. Only drawback is the line to get up the elevators at night.

This place is pretty nice.... good for a night out with friends of even if you just want to spend the night looking at the scenery with your significnt other!!! The line tends to get kinda long so early arrival is suggested. I was a guest at the hotel so it was just a few floors up!!

DRINKS are on the PRICEY SIDE so pregame would help...
DJ is EEEH (cant make requests for birthday) music is all CLEAN nothing wrong with that but if your trying to have one of those NIGHTS then prepare yourself for WOW thats what i call music!

Had a great time here. Great views and drinks. Heaters and fire pit if you get cold.

This is one of the original rooftop bars in SD and one of the Best! They recently made improvements and taken over what used to be the gym, to expand the space to include the north side of the building. There are tvs and comfy couches, and the views of the ballpark can't be beat. Service is always good and all the staff was very attentive on our last visit. Drink prices are a bit steep, but the views and vibe are worth it.

No Cover, No Wait List, just an awesome roof top bar with views of all of San Diego. A little expensive but the views make it worth it.

Awful queuing system. One bartender, long line. Unfortunately a few guests didn t follow the queuing system and went straight to the bar, and got served. I stood in line for 10 minutes and the line didn t move. Beautiful views. In your response, you indicated you were sorry for my bad experience and that I would give you another shot. This is a very common complaint about your establishment. Could you please let us know specifically will improve this experience to encourage myself and others to come. It's very sad, you are on top of a nice hotel, but most of the hotel guests wouldn't waste the time in your 'club'

I was in town visiting family and was told that this was the place to be at night. I did some research to see what the dress code would be and read that there was a strict dress code that they enforce or they will turn you away. I was pretty excited to actually dress up, but when I got to the hotel, and saw the line of people who were dressed casual, I mean very casual, like wearing flip flops, jean shorts, some were dressed as if they just just woke up and threw whatever on. Luckily we didn't have to wait in line! As soon as we reached the rooftop, we had our IDs checked, and was able to go through, I noticed how crowded it was. The line to get a drink was crazy, you couldn't even tell where the line started, people were just around the bar. I got a beer which was filled to the top and actually spilled over a couple of times as people were bumping into me due to how crowded it was trying to get away from the bar, I wasn't happy about that, I smelled like beer. Other than that, the views were nice, but not great, (you have to be close to the edge in order to get a good view), the music was pretty good, only stayed for about an hour, due to how crowded it was.

Apparently one of the best 25 bars in the world. I can only assume the author of that article hasn't been out much. It is a rooftop so there are some good views of the city but it does not face West so no sunset views - the reason we had gone there. Good view of stadium (ok) and a car park (less good). Cocktails are made very slap dash with low quality ingredients. RnB music and random, youngish crowd. Poor attention to detail by the staff - it's not clean. Does not feel special in the way I feel a rooftop bar should. Disappointing.

Rooftop Bar in the Marriott. Very nice views, but very crowded. It can be a struggle to get to the bar sometimes. Bartenders are nice here. Very casual place with good vibes.

A relax chill environment. Took a while to get service as there was only one bartender, but that maybe because we went on a Tuesday night.

Trendy spot to see & be seen. The views of Petco Park and the Coronado bridge are worth checking out.

Drinks are overpriced and not well made. It s a clubby lounge vibe. There s a big firepit in the middle. Bathrooms are clean.

Refused entry by some ego trip doorman even though we had our UK driving licenses (used these fine through Vegas & Palm Springs!). We overheard he refused the girl in front of us even though she had a US government issued I.D.

I love this place so much. I'll return friends next time. I see why this place has a lot of good reviews.

The reason for the poor review is based on the company's poor communication skills. I sent them a msg on Yelp 4 days prior to the day I wanted to book table service and no response, called the following 2 days and left voice mails and no response. Called the day off and same thing, called the main hotel and demanded to speak to someone and finally got a hold someone after pretty much begging to bottle service.

After talking to the host we went and he seemed to act as he didn't remember the conversation we had 2 hrs ago, anyways he was able to get is a good table and the server was great and did a great job with the service.

The venue needs to hire someone else new that will be on top of the calls, emails etc for bottles and have better service at arrival. I've had my share of bottle service experiences and I put this one at number 1 for communication.

I still recommend the place and will still be back but as for getting bottles again that will be questionable.

Altitude Sky Lounge is on the 22nd floor of the Marriott. Great views of San Diego. Decent music. Good but expensive drinks. Lots of heaters on so get over that evening chill.
You order food via a phone by the elevator and they give you a pager when your food is ready to pick up. We ordered a snack but would probably not choose to eat dinner upon this roof.

Super crowded. Not my scene. Crazy long line to get a beer. Line to get up to the roof. Cool view.

The management is hiring a group of individuals who are racist and rely on nonsense arguments to prevent you from entering, I was with my four drunk friends and I was the only sober person in the group, they allowed all my friend to go and denied me for the excuse of being drunk. The only issue with that argument is that I never had a drink for my entire life. They were very aggressive and loud while a screaming in my face telling me you will never go up, period when we asked to speak the manager we expected an apology but he was more aggressive and full of nonesene.

Beautiful views of the city and nice music, only downside was the drinks were terrible.
Would definitely go back for the view and just try wine.

Amazing view of the city! The drinks and service was fantastic! The atmosphere was very chill but there was also dancing there to If you wanted to dance. This place had a little bit of everything and was by far my favorite place in the gaslamp district that we went to! Altitude Sky Lounge has my vote for sure! You won't be disappointed here!

The view is fantastic, but that doesn't make up for the poor drinks. I ordered an old fashioned and it was over bittered. Instead of a orange peel they put a orange wedge that looks old and for the price I paid for that drink I expect the drinks to be better. Service was great.

Guy at the roof level was a douche bag! Bottom line. Have your serious face on because this guy doesn t like people that are having fun clearly. Didn t let us in because he heard a buzzer noise from the elevator.

So, this guy cost his employer $100 an hour pretty much. Just saying...I walked back to Nolan. Great bar by the way and no dbags.

HOWEVER, between the security guy and the bartender on duty, my experience was ruined. I was basically profiled the minute I walked in. The security guard was super serious, was not even trying to engage with us.

I have never had my ID looked over for (not exaggerating) 5 mins, the security guard was staring at me then back at my ID multiple times, bending my ID card, etc...and I've been to many bars/clubs, it was never this serious. Then to have my ID requested (and examined for like 3 mins!) again at the bar when I'm at a location that I'm not even allowed into UNLESS I'm at least 21! My friends and I went back to The Nolan...

Went to the rooftop with three friends. I'm Bonvoy Gold. Our friend from England was denied access to the rooftop because the bouncer could not understand her British accent, denied her entry accusing her of bring intoxicated, she was not. He was insulting and rude to us. Don't go unless you want to be insulted and embarrassed. Bottom line was they didn't want us there.

We came here in January. During the day it's warm enough, but at night is a different story. Was a bit cold for what we were wearing (nightclub clothes). We stayed by the fire and were given blankets. The view was beautiful at night with the city lights though.

The bill was average for the menu. Similar to a cafe in Las Vegas I liked.

Awesome view of the harbour, not a place you want to go if your scared of heights, otherwise i highly recommend this bar if your entertaining friends or a business meeting.

The cocktail servers are fantastic and the views are incredible. Definitely worth checking out if you're only in San Diego for a short time and want a nice cocktail. Great view of the Padres stadium and plenty of lounge areas.

Went last night, first stop of the night. Bartender chick was rude, seemed like she hated her job. Bought 3 shots plus $2 tip, totaled $35. Looked at my bank account this morning, Altitude $103.50 charge! Called this morning nobody could help me. WOW. Wonder how many more people have been robbed like this!

Prices sucks, party event and it is empty no you can not get in! Then I will not come back

Great view and a nice atmosphere. I'm sure it was mostly fellow tourists, but I didn't mind. There was a great view of San Diego on both sides.

Service has bad attitude. Nothing special here. Mediocre view and overpriced drinks just like any other bar. Won t be back.

Without doubt the best views in the City. Time your visit with a Baseball game and you get birdseye views of the game whilst enjoying some good cocktails.

You pay for the view at this bar, and it is worth it! You can see eastward, southward, and westward and even have a birds eye view of Petco Park.

Been there a few times, and even though it sucks to wait in line, it's always nice up top. Feel safe and not too difficult to get drinks, would be nice if drinks were a little cheaper.

Nice atmosphere and a good view. The last star would be given if they put on an extra bartender. Upon arrival we were in a queue for a painful 15 minutes and the place wasn't even really busy. Rest of the evening there was no queue though.

The perfect spot to have a drink or two and it's where you'll find me in the Gaslamp and where I like to take friends from out of town when they visit. The staff here is top notch and the management went above and beyond to allow us to do a surprise proposal on the helicopter pad as well as set up while they weren't even open. The view overlooks Petco Park and it's towards the end of the Gaslamp which you have a birds eye view of the whole place. I can't thank them enough for what they did for us to accomplish this photo shoot that was almost a year ago now but I've been there several times since then and will continue to come back.

Awesome views and amenities, including plenty of seating and a massive fire pit. The drinks are fairly standard, but this place is all about the atmosphere.

For starters, prices are very HIGH! But get over it, because this is the best view in the city. It provides a great, relaxed vibe for any night to get started at. The fire pit is another plus. Very comfortable seating all around the place. Beware, it fills up fast every night.

Shitty. The waitress was nice, but the thugs up front treat us like they are guarding some cool club, which is not the case. They asked for my ID 3 times, even when I was walking by. The food had to be strangely ordered by an intercom and had nothing to do with the place. Ugly people in shorts awaits ya.
