The performances from the actors are always excellent, so definitely go to the Almedia! But the scripts can be quite variable, from the OK to the brilliant. The cafe bar gets very busy before a show, but there are lots of alternatives on Upper Street. (Be careful with the first few rows in the stalls, as there's either no or little rake there.)

Was lucky enough to catch their production of Richard III this summer while visiting London and was completely blown away. Amazing production in a beautiful and intimate location. Hope to visit again soon!

I've been here quite a few times. Always a mixed bag. I've walked out halfway through two of the last three things I've seen as they were pretty bad. They specialise in 'Its loud=drama"; "child actor= emotion." Some good acting but very safe interpretations. Staging can be good and innovative. Seating is squashed and plays often go over three hours so not the most comfortable theatre experience. The spirits they serve are not measured and tiny. Certainly not 25 ml! I think they can challenge themselves and the audience a bit more but hey that's only my opinion.

Fantastic small intimate theatre. We have gone to 3 of the shows this year and I have greatly enjoyed all of them. After living in the area for 4 years we try and get to everything the theatre puts on. Some of my highlights have been Mr. More

Always a specially intimate space where so much happens. It'll always generate a sheen and scent of its own. One of my very favourite theatres - and I see many productions each year from a wide range of venues. Oh and the best idea for a play of mine came as I left the Almeida...

Bad day turned good. I was headed down to the Almeida restaurant upon my arrival it was closed i saw the Almeida theatre cafe across and popped in there, have never been before and didn't think much of it at first. Nice calm relaxing artsy environment was a lovely way to spend my afternoon. My hunger got the better of me and I was not disappointed the food was some of the best I've had upon upper street. So glad the restaurant was closed I've found my new day time spot. Hoorah

Superb production of Richard II but Almeida badly designed in that you have to go outside for a great many seats no way to use coat check therefore if pouring with rain (it was) so you sit with yer soaking coats. Same for lavatories and far too few in main lobby for a full house (it was) . Bar badly staffed too ages to have drinks brought whereas could have been served at bar!! And lobby most unwelcoming of any theatre. You might say well it's not the West end but it is West End prices.

Intimate theatre about a 10minute walk to Highbury and Islington tube station. Good leg room and good views to stage from upper level. Seat width a bit narrow and I'm an average size female. Saw Machinal which I enjoyed but my partner-in-crime did not. Lots of funky bars and restaurants nearby for post-show.

Intimate theatre with a wide range of socially conscious plays. Leg room can be a little tight, especially in the circle. The bar handles the large crowds well. Often a famous face in the audience!

Nice theatre, if a little out of the way. Have seen a few good shows here, but Lies was an unusual experience that I would not repeat. Rehearsed monopoly where they force you to sit and play with strangers (purposely splitting groups who arrive together), and 5 of the 7 people on my "team" never got the hang of the rules, and the 6th refused to play 4 out of 5 rolls of the dice. I feel like if they advertised the way the experience worked in advance either people would be more inclined to participate or only the people who want to participate would bother to attend. 2/5 for a live action wall street style crisis. 5/5 for the venue and staff generally. I averaged the rating to 3/5 stars!

For those who want to see quality theater just outside Soho. We saw the Twilight Zone. Several small pieces presented in each other. They had taken good care of the slightly eerie atmosphere. Very well performed!

One of the best off West End theaters in London. The performances are always outstanding and it is small and cozy. Most of the seats, even the cheap ones, have a good view as the theater is so small. If you have a chance to see something here be sure to do it.
